Filter on navigational attributes

Hi,
We have 0Material characterstic in the query which has Material Type as navigational attribute. The master data for Material Type is already loaded. Will it be possible to restrict the values of Material Type in the query designer?
Thank you.

are you on 3.X or 7?
in your dimensions on the left hand side, you can find mat_type, right? If it is indeed defined as a nav attr (in master data AND in the cube) then it will be available as an object in the dimension, not as an attribute of material...if it's only available under material, this means it's not defined as navigational.
now, if we're sure it's navigational, you can drag and drop this object to the filter section and restrict...you should be able to restrict on material type...
so, if you see this in your dimension:
dim1
  - material
       -material type
then material type is not an nav attribute
if you see this
dim1
   -material
   -material__mat_type
then you should be able to drag and drop material__mat_type and restrict...
so, please check that the nav attribute is correctly defined

  • Difference between drill down and filter using navigation attributes?

    hi all,
can anyone let me know the difference between filter and drilldown options using navigational attributes. pls explain with examples for filter and drill down and how it varies.
    thanxs
    haritha

Jst to add up with an example :
Say you have a cost center variance analysis report with cost elements in the filter. ( not present in the default report result )
Filter - You can right click on a particular cost center & say " Keep Filter Value " - it will result in only showing that cost center & you can wish to select other filter value doing " Select Filter Value ".
Drill Down - If u wish to see the cost elements associated with cost centers you can right click on Cost Center & do " Drill Down To - Cost Element " or Drill Across.

  • Issue when using Navigation attributes for filtering in BEX

    Hello,
We are encountering an issue when applying filter on Navigation attributes in BEx query built on top of a BW HANA Virtual Provider.
The interface is as below :
HANA Calculation View -> SAP BW 7.4 Virtual InfoCube -> Multiprovider -> BEx Query.
We have directly mapped the base Infoobject from HANA View to BW Virtual Provider and using this in BEx query free characteristics. We also have used the navigational attribute of this Infoobject in our Report variable screen as well as an Auth relevant object.
Eg if ZMATERIAL is the base infoobject and ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ navigational attribute is used in the report variable screen and as Authorization variable.
This is causing the query to fail.
The query also fails if I apply any filter values on any Navigational attribute with error message  :
"Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (305): Error reading the data of InfoProvider"
Using the navigational attribute with authorization variable fails with below :
"Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (099): Invalid query;Failed to find attribute ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ [...]"
Appreciate any inputs on this issue and how this can be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Tintu

    Hi Andrey,
    Thank you for your input.
Based on the OSS note , it says to import BW7.4 SP7. We are already on BW7.4 SP7
We get error "Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (099): Invalid query;Failed to find attribute
ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ"  whenever we try to apply filters on any of the navigational attribute.
    Thanks,

  • Can i filter a report based on a value of a navigational attribute?

    Hi all,
i need to filter a report and the characteristic i need it's a navigational attribute that is already present in the infocube, can i use it as a filter or i need to add a new characteristic to the ic?
    thank you

    Hi
You can use navigational attributes to filter your report. When you switch on the navigational attributes at the cube level, the X table or Y table will be connected to the star schema of cube.
Navgational attributes behave like a characteristic in the report. You can create variables, filter etc on navgational attributes.
    Hope it helps.

  • Navigational Attribute Filter value selection not showing full name

    Hi Experts,
We are having Navigational Attribute TM Responsible. We have created variable in BEX for it. When we are searching for value selection for this in RSRT, its showing only last name and key part. But If I dont pass any values, and display the result its showing full name. Please find the screen shots.
Customer needs full name to be available for selection in filter in above picture 1.
Please suggest what needs to be done.
    Thanks,
    Govind

    Hi All,
The issue is resolved. Making display as Long text at Infoobject level and at Query display level was not working. Hence I tried to change the display at Multiprovider level as shown below. This fixed the issue.
Right click Navigational attribute -> Provider specific properties
Made the display as Long text.
    This setting resolved the problem.
    Thanks for help and replies.

  • Infoset - Query with navigational attribute as filter

    Dear all,
We have created an InfoSet linking an InfoObject 0COORDER to an Info InfoCube containing order data.
We have used a Left outer join to link 0COORDER tol 0COORDER in the InfoCube. The purpose is to be able to report on all 0COORDER even if they have no transaction data.
When creating a query we get a list of all 0COORDER as expected. The problem arises when we try to use the navigational attribute "Status" from the InfoObect 0COORDER as a filter in the query. This does not work at all.
Does anyone know what we are doing wrong here ? We are using BEx Query Designer 7.0.
    Kind Regards,
    Mikkel

    Hi Mikkel
When you say that your Status field does not work at all, what is the error you are getting? Are you able to see this field in the query designer. If that is not the case that means your "status" is not chosen in the infoset design.
If you are able to see it in the designer then please let us know what is the exact error you are getting.
    Thanks.

  • How to show data for navigational attribute in a report ?

    Hello all,
I have a hierarchy info object A which has a navigational attribute(hierarchy) B. I need to filter on B for a particular node.
I have added A in the filter column and selected B as the attribute. How can i restrict B for a particular hierarchy node ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    S N

    Hi,
Have you defined 'B' as Navigational attribute at InfoProvider Level?
You can Restrict B for a Particular Value once it is defined as Navigational attribute at InfoProvder level.
Go to InfoProvider maintaince>click 'nav attributes'>enable it (check the box).activate the InfoProvider.
Then you can see it under same dimension where 'A' is assigned and its name would be  A_B.
Drag and drop in to rows and restrict(include/exclude) with required value.
    thanks

  • How to see Navigation attribute in Report

    Hi ,
      I am working on BI7.0.
In my Query , material is a characteristic which has 3-4 Navigation attributes. But when I execute the report , I can only see Material data displayed (because only material is in the rows). I also want to see data of its attributes in report results. I dont have authorisation to change the query.
Also I am unable to open the Query in Local view (some connectivity issues).
Can you please suggest How I can drill-down those attributes.??
Also these attributes are not visible in free characteristics.
    Thanks,
    Su

    Hi there,
To use the navegational attributes with drill down, they have to be available in either rows, columns or free characterisitic.
For that you have to edit the query. There's no other way.
But each navegational attribute is also a display attribute.
Therefore, you can after executing the query, right-click over material and select properties. You'll see a tab named attributes where you can add the avilable attributes to the left (so they will be displayed), and change the settings of each one of them (see only key, key and text, etc.), but you can't filter by any of those attributes, or do any drill down options over them. They are only display attributes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need help on Authorization on Navigational Attribute.

    Hi All,
    I am working on Authorizations.
I am using the info Object "Material group" which is the Navigational Attribute of 0MATERIAL.
In Reporting, I have created the Authorization Variable for Material group.
And after this, i have created the Authorization Object in RSECADMIN and added the info Object "Material group" and harded coded the value as "1000". After this, i have created the Authorization Role in PFCG and added this authorization Object over there. And this role is assigned specific User.
While Running the report on specific User, for Material group, filteration is not happening over there (Material group = 1000). It is showing all values for this user.
Can you please help on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Shahina A

Thanks for your reply. I was on leave for the past 2 days. I have checked as you suggested.
In 0MATERIAL, 0MATL_GROUP is the attribute and i have made Authorization Relvent for this Attribute.
And i activated the Info object 0MATERIAL.
Then i have run the query in RSRT and found an error while running the Report.
Can u pls help on this issue.
    Diagnosis
The system determined the authorized characteristic values for the characteristic 0MATERIAL__0MATL_GROUP. It determined that you do not have the (analysis) authorization to view transaction data for any characteristic values or range.
    System Response
If this situation occurs when a variable is being filled, the query cannot be executed.
    Procedure
You must have authorization for at least one characteristic value for the characteristic 0MATERIAL__0MATL_GROUP.
Create the appropriate analysis authorizations for the user.
If you are only authorized for evaluations that aggregate using the characteristic 0MATERIAL__0MATL_GROUP (for ":" authorizations), use a query without this characteristic. If the characteristic is not used as a filter or in the drilldown, variables should not be used.

  • "Error determining attribute" after adding navigational attribute to query

    Hello all,
We are getting a "Error Error determining attribute, Abort System error in program SAPLRRK0 and form RSRDR;SRRK0f30-01-" error message when running a query after adding a navigational attribute. We tried adding the attribute of the characteristic directly in the query and this works ok. But when we try using the navigational attribute we get the error. We would like to use the navigational attribute so we can filter based on this attribute.
We've searched for notes regarding this problem and haven't found any. Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Ron

    hi,
Please check if  number of the fields after adding the Navigationl attribute the should not cross 50.
Check the RSRV test for the master data whose navigational attribute u r trying to add.

  • Authorization for navigational attribute

    Hi Gurus,
I am facing an authorization issue with respect to infoobject hierarchy. I have created authorizations as below.
There one infoobject 'A' and a navigational attribute 'B' in infoobject 'A'. This navigational atribure A_B is used in an infocube.  And hierarchy is uploaded to Infoobject 'B'. Now I want to give authorization for this hierarchy in infoobject 'B'.
    Now coming to authorization.
    1. I have made Infoobject 'B' as authorization relevant in Business explorer tab.
    2. Created authorization object say ABC in RSSM and inculded infoobject 'B' & 0TCTAUTHH (since I want to authorize the hierarchy and we are using 3.5 authorization concepts in BI 7.0).
    3. Activate this authorization object for the infocube.
    4. Included this authorization object in the role included for my user. In the field 'B' of authorization object I have given ' ' (space) and in the field 0TCTAUTHH I have given the technical name of the hierarchy.
    4. In 3.5 query designer I have put this navigational attribute A_B in the filter area and activated the hierarchy in the properties tab for the same hierarchy that I inculded in previous step.
    5. Created a variable with processing type authorization.
Now when I run this report I get an error as no authorization for object ABC.
Can someone help me if I have done anything wrong.
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
In the infoobject A maintenance screen check the chekc box for field "AuthorizRelevant" for B to make it authorization relevant navigational attribute.
Then go to RSECADMIN and ope your relevant authorization.
In the menu bar just above the "Authorization Structure" you will find the button with icon of infoobject.
Chick on this icon this will give you a screen to enter characteristic name of which attributes are to be added to authorization.
Enter the infoobject A name here and click on continue.
This will give you list of all authorization relevant navigational attributes present for A.
Add B from this list to the authorization.
    Hope this helps.

  • Navigational Attribute as Text Element

    Hi...
I have a report which shows list of Titles in the first column and the corresponding amounts based on several account and profit center restrictions in the further columns.
    Titles basically are movie names.
Titles have navigational attributes like Video Release Date, Theatrical Release Date. These navigational attributes can be displayed in the report. But, the user doesn't want to display them in the report. He wants them to display them as the text elements.
As we are neither using a filter nor variable on these navigational attributes, these are not being shown as text elements.
Is there any way, I could show these navigational attributes for a given title as text elements?
    Thanks,
    Sai.

Ok, let's make this simple. I have a Title: 9381780, which has navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004.
In my query definition, I have this title restricted by this value 9381780 and the navigational attribute in the rows panel.
Now, the query displays me the both the Title and it's navigational attribute as columns in the report.
But, if u see the text elements, I see only Title: 9381780, because it's a filter.
I cannot see the navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004 in the text elements because it is neither a filter nor a variable.
I want to display this navigational attribute, Theatrical Release Date: 01/09/2004 in as a text element.
    Hope I made it clear.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

  • Navigational Attribute Problem in Input Query

    Hi,
I am having a problem in input query implementation which uses a navigational attribute. I have, for eg, only one char 'customer' in rows; i want to exclude the customers with the status D (deleted) from displaying (Status is nav. attr. of customer).  I tried this by restricting in filter, Status D-"exclude". But as soon as I do this, query no longer remains input ready! (I also tried putting the same restriction in Default Values area rather than Filter, but ended with the same result )
I discovered that if, furthermore, I put Status in rows (with the above said restriction still remaining), query is again input ready.
Can't we exclude values in the filter on an input query? I want to know if this is a restriction with IP or a bug?

    Hi Gregor,
Thanks for the explanation. But this makes me wonder, because due to this restriction one of the BIG advantages queries had over the planning layouts of BPS, seems to be gone. I mean, using navigational attributes for filtering; if we have to always have a single value restriction on a nav. attr., this will really be restricting. Is it expected that this will be changed in a later SP?
And there is another problem that is coming due to this. When I use the exclude filter and also the nav. attr. Status in rows, then the query becomes input ready, but there are warning messges displaying when the query opens saying -
Characteristic Customer has no master data for "C1"
Characteristic Customer has no master data for "C2"
etc... (these are the customers with status D). We are on SP15.
Please suggest what should I do to get rid of these messages?

  • Navigational attribute and FOX in IP

    Hi,
I have experienced a strange behavior of a FOX.
This is a copy from ACTUAL InfoCube to PLAN InfoCube, keyfigures are different.
In the ACTUAL one, we have only cost center and profit center as navigational attribute. In plan, we have both. Here is the fox (operand is KF, infoprovider, profit center) :
    {KF1, ACTUAL, PC01} = {KF3, PLAN, #}.
I doesn't work in IP (no data are read from the reference). We tested it in BPS and it works.
For me, this is the right syntax since profit center is not is the ACTUAL cube.
After that, we removed profit center from the operand (PC01 is a constant in the filter).
Here is the new fox (operand is KF, infoprovider) :
{KF1, ACTUAL} = {KF3, PLAN}. This fox is not supposed to work because it should try to read reference data with profit center PC01. But it works !!!
After saving data, we noticed that the fox copies every records from the ACTUAL cube with navigational attribute profit center = PC01.
Did you ever experience that or I missed something ?
The system seems to take into account the value of the navigational attribute.
    Thanks

    Hi Jaques,
I guess you have a MultiProvider and you have mapped the Characteristic PC from the plan cube and the navigational attribute from the actual cube both to the characteristic in the multiprovider.
Then it is correct, that the sytsem does the selection on the char in plan and the nav in actual.
    regards
    Cornelia

  • Navigational Attribute in BEx

    Hi,
I have a problem with  navigational attribute in BEx reporting.  Product hierarchy 1 to 4 (0PRODH1 to 0PRODH4  referencing 0PROD_HIER) is a navigational attribute in 0MATERIAL. In query from an ODS I am able to include them and able to filter on it using a variables, but I am not able to get subtotal on the basis of PRODH3, but able to subtotal on the basis of PRODH1 & PRODH2.
I run RSRV on 0MATERIAL & 0PROD_HIER and there is no error on it.
If anybody know how to rectify this issue pls reply.
    Thanks
    EV

    Try this:
My experience is that the property of showing subtotals in bex, is pointing at the characteristic to the left in your report  of the one you are changinin  .
    If you have
Fiscal year, profit Center , Customer ,  Product,
And want subtotals on the two first. BUT NOT Customer and product..
The property show subtotals should be choosen for the first three.
    Fiscal year, profitcenter AND customer.
    Hope this helps.
