Filter or sort by whether file has develop settings?

I'm using LR3b but I assume this applies to LR2 as well.
I just imported a large number of files - about 20,000 from the last couple of years. Previously these were managed using Expression Media so any star or color ratings did not transfer. Since anything that was a true 5-star was edited, those files do show up in LR with the little +/- icon indicating they have been edited.
So - how can I sort or filter by whether files are edited or not? I'm not picking up anything under the metadata filters, or anywhere else for that matter. Maybe I can't.
Any thoughts?

  • Easy way to select files w/develop settings applied?

    Hi
    Adobe Bridge CS6/Camera Raw Win7 - OK I have a folder w/350 images, some of these (50 or so scattered about) I've applied a Camera Raw develop setting to and can see the results in Bridge and thay have a little symbol in the thumb. Other than manually selecting them (ctl/shft click click click) is there a way to say to Bridge "select all files with develop stting applied"?  so I can move/open/export/whatever?
    That would save a lot of wear and tear on the wrists...

    is there a way to say to Bridge "select all files with develop stting applied"?
    Look in the filter panel under Camera Raw and select 'custom settings' . If you then choose the sort order in the path bar (top right in Bridge window) and  select sort by date modified they will also get in the order first last you applied settings to.

  • Finding files by develop settings

    Probably a question for Bridge users, but that forum is pretty useless, and it relates to Camera Raw, so I'm asking here...
    In Bridge, you can search for files by certain EXIF or file metadata, and filter Contents by a few more statistics, like orientation or aspect ratio. However, I've never found a way of selecting files with specific raw development settings, like Exposure = 0.00, or Clarity = 20.
    I could use the operating system search instead to search XMP sidecars for text strings, but then there would be no way to easily and quickly work on the resulting files as a batch, as far as I can see.
    Any suggestions?

    I know you can filter by exposure by using the Filter panel (natch), which is enabled by default in the lower left corner in Bridge CC.
    Otherwise, you can create any keyword you want on the lower right Keywords panel, apply them to selected images, then use the Filter panel using the "Keywords" element containing your customized keywords.
    Exposure? That must be new in CC, unless you mean "Exposure Time", which is the EXIF shutter speed, not the Camera Raw Exposure setting.
    Keywords doesn't help me identify ACR develop settings.

  • Help with Library Management - duplicate files, single develop settings.

    I use Lightroom 5 and local disk as my supposed master.
    I use GoodSync and an external drive as my backup.
    When I am traveling I use my Macbook and the external drive - and this has caused the following problem;
    Instead of just being a backup, my external drive is now a folder in Lightroom.
    The develop settings are associated with the files on that drive and I have duplicates through the synchronisation process that I run with Goodsync.
    Can I move the develop settings (All, Automagically) back to the files located on my local drive and remove the folder from Lightroom?
    I will manage my backup process differently.
    Or .. do I create a new catalog and import the files from ... the external drive first? Or the local?
    Possibly external to ensure I don't lose any settings?
    Any advice, especially if someone else has found themselves in this predicament, would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

    When using a Finder specifier you also need to include the startup disk.  There are a few different domains that the path to command will work with.  If you don't specify a domain, such as your first example, the assumption is that you want the user domain.  The /Library/Preferences folder is in the local domain so you can use the following command to get its path:
        path to preferences folder from local domain

  • Develop Settings and DNG files...where is the info stored?

    I just converted my Nikon NEF files to DNG. Previously I saved all changes I would make to my photos in the XMP sidecar files. I'm confused how things are working now because I thought those same changes would be saved to the DNG file.
    Now that I use DNG files, when I make adjustments to the develop settings in LR, are those changes ONLY saved to the catalog? Or is there a way to save them into the DNG file so I can bring them to LR on another computer and see my changes? I feel like when I had XMP files before with my RAW files, the develop settings were saved there in addition to the catalog, so my changes came with me... Maybe I'm wrong though.

    >Each of my RAW files also has a corresponding 10KB XMP file.
    These are known as XMP sidecars and are applicable only to proprietary raw files (e.g. CR2, NEF, etc). Adobe have a policy of not writing anything back into a proprietary raw file (exception being date/time stamp) because the proprietary data tends to be undocumented. The XMP sidecar provides a safe documented means of storing the metadata corresponding to each proprietary raw file.
    > I understood that the metadata is written to the file itself, but apparently only to DNG JPG and Tif files - right?
    Correct
    >So, if this is correct, then all metadata except that originally written by the camera is saved in the XMP file on RAW files?
    For proprietary raw files the metadata is written into the XMP sidecar, but for the other formats you mention it's written "into" the XMP block of the actual file.
    > Is the XMP file the information used by the Catalog? If I open a RAW image in Photoshop CS3 will the XMP information be read and applied when the file opens?
    Yes to both questions

  • Ability to filter on develop settings applied

    Please consider adding the ability to filter on whether or not develop settings have been applied.
    Scenario:
    After importing a new shoot, I pick the very best images and edit them in Develop.  Then I post a few images to my blog or send them to my client very soon after their session.
    Meanwhile back in Lightroom I have some images where Develop settings have been applied, and some images that don't yet have any settings applied.  I'd like to be able to filter out the images that already have Develop setting applied so I can continue reviewing the shoot and mass applying new settings without affecting the images that are already "final."
    Please let me know if this functionality already exists and (hopefully) point me towards a tutorial.
    Thank you very much,
    Ernie Fehler

    The functionality already exists in Smart Collections. Create a Smart Collection as shown below.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 won't save developer settings

    I'm running Adobe CS 5 with Camera Raw 6.7 on a Windows Vista machine.
    I have a Canon T3i that I shoot all of my Raw files from. Which Camera Raw 6.7 supports and have not had trouble in the past.
    Recently everytime I've loaded the Raw files into a new project folder and begin to adjust the first Raw file, none of the develper settings are saved or the updated Raw file won't show anything on Bridge (The little triangle on top of the Raw file won't show on Bridge). The XMP file contains the adjustments but bridge and camera raw will not load the adjustments. I am not able to copy or paste settings from other previous Raw files either.
    The weird part is that I am able to adjust Raw files and developer settings are properly saved in older folder created previously. This seems to happen everytime I start a new project and load the Raw files into it.
    I've tried clearing out the Camera Raw cache, and export cache for that folder but nothing help. I've even tried rebooting. Only after a good amount of time has passed and I've tried to keep on clearing the cache does Camera Raw finally functions properly and saves the developer settings afterwards. It's very random and very annoying. I usually end up wating alot of time trying to get it to work and at times can get very frustrating when the projects needs to be completed.
    Has anyone had similar issues with Camera Raw? Any solutions or work arounds? Or what's causing it, and how can I avoid it??
    Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help me not loose too much sleep.

    So after looking around in the forums I found the solution. Some other members had similar issues.
    The issue stems from not having the correct time set on the camera. Here's the link to the forum post with more detail:

  • Copy-Pasting crop settings also affects other Develop settings?

    I noticed the following behavior in my Lightroom 4.3. Let's say I have two almost identical pictures. Both have their Develop settings reset, no keywords and store some GPS info (so in the flimstrip both pictures have a "geotag" icon overlaid on them and no other icons).
    Now, I go to Develop screen and crop the first picture. I leave other Develop settings untouched. This makes a "crop" icon to appear on the first picture in the filmstrip. All works as it should.
    After that I ask Lightroom to copy the Develop settings from the first picture. In the selection dialog I leave everything unchecked besides the crop settings. I.e. I want to copy crop settings only, nothing else. Then I immediately paste these settings over the second picture. Expectedly, the second picture gets cropped in exactly the same way as the first one. It also acquires a "crop" icon in the filmstrip. However, in addition to the crop icon it also gets a "+/-" icon, as if some other Develop settings got changed by the paste as well. A quick inspection shows that all Develop settings (besides crop, of course) remain at their default values.
    I wonder why the second picture acquires that "+/-" icon. Is there some hidden Develop setting that gets affected by my paste, even though I explicitly asked Lightroom to copy crop settings only? Or is it just a user-interface-level bug?

    I reported this strange behaviour a year ago already for LR 3.4: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_3_4_1_wrong_activation_of_ badge_has_delevop_adjustments. LR 4.3 seems to have the same bug (at least I think it is a bug).
    As far as I know, no "real" development settings are affected by this bug, however an internal flag for "has development settings" seems to be set when the "+/-"-badge appears. This means that such images are found by smart collections with "has adjustments = true". So it is not just an user-interface-level bug.

  • Is there a way to check whether an Excel file has a header or not?

    Hi!
    I'm currently using POI Utility to read and write Excel files.
    You normally use the HasHeaderRow = true / false to specify whether the file has a header or not.
    Now, let's say I have a program that needs to read Excel files from a directory, some have headers, some don't.
    Is there a way to know dynamically whether a header has been defined or not?
    Then, for those having headers, the flag will be set as true, while for those which don't have any header, the flag will be set as false.
    E.g.
    <!--- Create an instance of the POIUtility.cfc. --->
        <cfset objPOI = CreateObject(
            "component",
            "POIUtility"
            ).Init()
            />
    <!--- Set directory --->
    <cfset currentDirectory = GetDirectoryFromPath(GetTemplatePath()) & "newDir">
    <!--- Check whether the directory exists. --->
    <cfif DirectoryExists(variables.currentDirectory)>
         <!--- Read files from the specified directory --->
         <cfdirectory action="list" directory="#variables.currentDirectory#" type="file" filter="*.xls" name="qDirectory">
         <!--- Check if the directory has any Excel file --->
         <cfif variables.qDirectory.recordcount gt 0>
              <!--- Loop query --->
         <cfloop query="variables.qDirectory">
                   <!--- Check if header is present in each of the file --->
                        IF headerExists THEN
                             headerFlag = true
                        ELSE
                             headerFlag = false
                        END IF
                   <!--- Read Excel File --->
                <cfset objSheet = objPOI.ReadExcel(FilePath = #variables.qDirectory.name#, HasHeaderRow = #variables.headerFlag#, SheetIndex = 0) />
              </cfloop>
         </cfif>
    </cfif>
    Any help would be most welcome.

    Hi cfSearching,
    Many thanks for your reply! I really do appreciate!
    However, I've still got 1 more question for you.
    At the moment, I'm using POI and sometimes cfx_Excel2Query to read Excel files.
    In both cases, you have to specify whether the first row is a header.
    How would you read the Excel file to check whether the 1st row is the header?
    I've tried using cffile, but I get all sorts of "garbage"
            <cffile action="read" file="#variables.filename#" variable="xlsResult">
            <cfloop index="i" list="#variables.xlsResult#" delimiters="#chr(13)#&#chr(10)#">
                <cfif variables.i eq 1>
                    <cfoutput>
                        Test 1st Row: #trim(replacenocase(listgetat(variables.i,1,","),'"',"","All"))#
                    </cfoutput>
                </cfif>
            </cfloop>
    I get the following output:
    ÐÏ à¡± á.... etc etc
    I'd be very much grateful if you could please advise on the latter at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks and best regards,

  • How to check whether the Application Server file has already been opened?

    Hi Experts,
    I have a query related to Application Server file. I am using multithreading concept to process the data and write it in to a single file.
    For example, I have 4 workprocesses. Each workprocess will process the data and whenever it has a record available it will access the file and write it directly.
    Problem is the statements that are written in the workprocess is same and I want to check the status whether the file has been opened or not ?
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Thanks,
    Babu Kilari

    Depends on the structure, and whether the data needs to be sorted in some way in the final file.
    In any case, I don't think there will be a significant performance difference between using OPEN DATASET again and getting funny with Unix commands.
    If you don't need to sort the final file, you can use strings to read, concatenate and write the data even without line-based DO ENDDO loops, this works pretty fast.
    I hope we are not talking about GBytes of data

  • Hi people, can anyone tell whether one has the possibility in numbers, the entries in the pop-up menu to sort alphabetically me

    hi people, can anyone tell whether one has the possibility in numbers, the entries in the pop-up menu to sort alphabetically me

    Hi Dieter,
    Your profile shows Mac OS X (10.6.8) so it seems you are using Numbers version 2.x
    Numbers 2 does not have the ability to sort Pop-Up Menu entries (except by a painful process of adding or subtracting entries in Inspector).
    Numbers 3 makes Pop-Up Menus a breeze. But it is your choice whether to update to OS X Mavericks and Numbers 3 . Some features have been lost, other features have been added, and there are some workarounds.

  • Filter on "Photo has Develop adjustments" flag?

    Is there any way to filter on the "Photo has Develop adjustments" flag? I can't find it, but the filtering capability seems a bit opaque to me so maybe I'm just missing it.

    Mike, once you're in the smart collection, you can then filter further by using the filter bar in grid view (if it's missing, hit the '\' key). You can type the directory name in the text filter. If you have directories with similar names, I saw a post from Dirk Jan de Ridder that shows how to search for exact words:
    Try
    +Fall+ (finds all photos containing the exact word 'fall')
    +Fall (all photos starting with 'fall')
    Fall+ (all photos ending with 'fall')

  • Open a SharePoint List item in Modal Pop up in SP 2013 fails after you filter or sort the list

    Sorry for the long post. This has been killing me. I had this script working perfectly fine in SharePoint 2010 (online) and basically i have a source custom list (list A) with a hyperlink column and a Destination List with say title and my name.
    Source List (list A) looks like this with these 2 columns
    Title    Test Link
    A         Link 1
    B         Link 2
    C         Link 3
    Each of these links link to the actual list item in the destination list, so for example, link 1 is/sites/2013DevSite/Lists/Destination%20List/EditForm.aspx?ID=1
    So basically i want anytime the Link are clicked that point to another list's item to open in a modal dialog and the script below worked perfectly fine in SharePoint 2010 (online)
    <script language="javascript" src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script language ="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function() {
    jQuery('a[href*="EditForm.aspx"]').each(function (i, e) {
    // Store the A tag's current href in a variable
    var currentHref = jQuery(e).attr('href');
    jQuery(e).attr({
    'href': 'javascript:void(0);',
    // Use the stored href as argument for the ShowInModal functions parameter.
    'onclick': 'ShowInModal("' + currentHref + '");'
    function ShowInModal(href) {
    SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog({title: "Edit Item", url: href});
    </script>
    All it does is find the href tags for that particular value Editform.aspx and the pop modal works in SP 2010 online. So the site page is designed in such a way there is a content editor web part with the reference to this javascript file and the sharepoint
    list is right beneath it and this worked perfectly opening in modal windows in SP 2010.
    Since migration to 2013, this is what exactly happens
    1.) when you come to the site page, the modal works,
    2.) If you filter or sort on say the Title or Test Link column in Source list (lets say you select the Value A), the script does not fire at all, if i hover over the hyperlink, the who hyperlink is shown and does not open the hyperlink in the modal pop up.
    - This is important because i want to be able to sort on a particular item...
    Could someone please let me know what am i doing wrong and why is this not working when i sort the list. Thanks for all the help.
    Once again i am trying to open a sharepoint list item in Sharepoint 2013 from another list using Jquery

    A ListItem has its own unique row id so in all likelihood, an insert with the same data will result in a new list entry. The Lists Web Service however, has an UpdateListItem method which will take an update request. [refer

  • How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?

    How can I see that a file has been sent for workflow?
    During the workflow phase, the file is locked for workflow. But when the file has been approved (or denied) it will have the same status as it did before the workflow process (unless you trigger the workflow by changing its location).
    You can see the workflow history in the "My Request" view, but this way of determining whether a file has been approved seems complicated.
    Best regards

    Hi,
    Thanks for the transaction code, but my question is not answered yet.
    For example, I use STMS_IMPORT in the Development environement to see the list of the transport that has been made in that environement.
    I now have a list of these transports, with a status. But I wanna know if that transport that has been created in the Development environement has been moved to the Sandbox environement.
    STMS_IMPORT shows me only the list of transports that has been created in that environement. It doesn't tell me if a transport in DVL has been moved in the QAS, SANDBOX or PRODUCTION environment.
    Thanks again,
    Julien

  • Syncing develop settings results in some 0 byte .xmp files

    I have had this happen numerous times... when I sync the develop settings across several hundred time lapse images some of .xmp files end up being empty (0 bytes) even though the develop settings are successfully saved in the LR catalog. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Before digging too far, I need to understand what you're trying to achieve.
    With the print settings you describe you are instructing the application to perform two conversions. The color chain is Document CMYK (FOGRA27) – Proof CMYK (ISO Uncoated) – Document CMYK (FOGRA27).
    This is a little odd. Usually the final color space is a print device of some sort, not a press profile. This workflow you describe is a round trip of sorts. We are at FOGRA, convert to ISO, now back to FOGRA. That amounts to simulating one press condition using another press condition, which is rarely done because a press in not a proof device.
    The Proof profile is the print condition you want to simulate. The Print profile is the device doing the simulation, which is often referred to as a proofing device (quite confusing but that's the way it is).
    Photoshop Proof Setup has a Rendering Intent and BPC. InDesign Proof Setup does not.
    In the Photoshop print dialog, there is a Simulate Black Ink option. The InDesign print dialog does not have this option.
    There are two conversions on output. In Photoshop output, the first conversion is Document – Proof. The rendering and BPC options for this first conversion are based on Photoshop color settings. The second conversion is Proof - Printer. The Photoshop print dialog offers 3 options for this 2nd conversion:
    1. Simulate Black Ink Off = Relative Colorimetric, Black Point Compensation On.
    2. Simulate Black Ink On = Relative Colorimetric, Black Point Compensation Off
    3. Paper Color On = Absolute Colorimetric
    Please note the application color settings do not affect this conversion, just the first.
    For the most accurate proof #3 is the best option. That is not saying that absolute colorimetric is ideal for file conversions. It is a rendering intent that is ideal for a proofing workflow, and the conversion to the print device (the 2nd conversion in the output you describe) is what is at the heart of the proofing workflow.
