Filtering by attributes in Smart view on Cloud

Dear all,
We are working on the Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services and we have a question regarding the filtering by attributes in smart view.
We tried to create a report filtering by attribute but this option is not available in the Smart view Member selection.
However, filtering by attribute is available from a form.
Could yo please help us with this issue?

hi Marta,
The use of attributes in PBCS is not available in Smart View nor Financial Reporting Studio. I am also trying to figure out a workaround as this is critical for reporting purposes. The two links below explain the issue.

Can we display attributes when opening a form in smart view

Hi Everyone,
If a form has attribute members in a row, the web view displays the attributes, but smart view doesn't. Is this a bug?

Hi Kiran,
I am not quite sure about what you meant actually. I simply have a form which has some attributes for each member in rows. I can see the attributes for in the web view. However, when opened in Smart View, the attributes are not shown (the columns themselves are missing).
Can you please explain in detail? It would be really helpful if I can find an answer to this.

PS: Why would a user need to create an ADHOC query for viewing a form in Smart View?

Attributes Not Working in Smart View

Hi All,
I have an ASO database that has attributes on the Cost Center dimension. In EPMA and in EAS, the attributes are correctly shown. When I pull data in Smart View for a specific cost center, I see data. When I apply the correct attribute, the data comes back as "N/A". I know for a fact that this cost center IS tagged as the attribute I am pulling, but it will not show in Smart View as belonging to that attribute. I am using version 11.1.2.3 and Smart View version 11.1.2.3.000 (Build 157).
Any thoughts?

this is indeed strange. Not a real answer, but here are some suggestions to get more details:
Case sensitive?
What was the attribute of this cost center before?
Try a report on this cost center with all attributes. Does one work?
Try a different front end tool.
From EPMA do a full deploy (make sure you have saved you essbase objects to a save location)
Does it work?
Change the Attribute and deploy it again. Does it work?

Can't load data through smart view (ad hoc analysis)

There is EPM application where I want to give ability to planners to load data through smart view (ad hoc analysis). In Shared Services there are four options in
EssbaseCluster-1: Administrator, Create/Delete Application, Server Access, Provisioning Manager. Only Administrator can submit data in smart view (ad-hoc analysis). But I don't want to grant Essbase administrator to planners, I'm just interested to give them ability to load data through ad-hoc analysis. Please suggest!

I take that you refreshed the Planning security, If not refresh the security of those users. Managing Security Filters
Check in EAS whether those filters are created with "Write" permissions.

How to hide members in Smart View

We have a requirement to add some accounts under accounts dimension in planning.Some of our users use Smart View to analyze data.So our budget team requirement is the users should not be able to see the new accounts we have added, when they drill down on account.We are on v9.3.

You'll have to play with Planning security filters in Essbase to make that possible.
All the filters in Essbase are Read only filters which means Users can still view the members.

How to open the Data Perspective function of Smart View in EAS?
I use my Smart View to connect one ASO cube, and I found the button of Data Perspective is grey. It's not available.
In Smart View Users' Guide, it says:
Note: Data perspective may not be enabled in your Smart View system. Your options for data perspective are enabled and configured by the administrator in Oracle Essbase Administration Services.
But I could not find how to configure the this option in EAS.
Does anyone know about this?

I have already turned on the varying attributes function, but the data perspective button is still grey, not available.

What does #Invalid mean in Smart View

Some users get a #invalid result in their Smart View queries. It only seems to display when there is no data (i.e. #missing), and we are curious as to why it doesn't just display as #missing. What parameters cause Smart View to classify something as invalid vs missing? One thing we noticed was that a query that shows #missing in certain cells, turns to #invalid when an attribute is added to the query. My thought is that the #invalid result means roughly "sorry, can't calculate your attribute if there is no data, so your request is invalid". Does anyone know for sure?

search for varying attributes and select data perspectives. It gives you an example of where it is used (They use #meaningless instead of #invalid in the example)

In my earlier post I used the term Slowly changing attributes. In the documentation they are using varying attributes. They mean the same thing.

Hyperion Smart View meta read problem

I created a template for users in smart view.I was testing with some native users.
the template which i created was with all the dimension and I Descendants dimensions.
some users are having write back functionality.
i used Meta Read filters for some users who will be only having access to a particular dimension and member.
At first i created a template with all the dimension and descendants and did save the report and I logged in with native users in to the same template.When i click on member selection I am able to see the applied filter( Meta Read) is working properly.But by default when i login with the same user at first i am getting an message saying that for some members you are are not having permission upto there i am fine.
My question is
Is there a better work around.So that when the user logs in smart view the template which provided he should only see the members for which he is having permission and the rest of members for which he is not having permission should disappear.

You most likely have a SV template set up and are trying to share that template, correct? The functions are looking for the SV xla in the bin folder, so if SV is installed in different paths, then your SV template will produce that error. When you first open the template and you get the update links, select edit, then browse to where the user has SV installed and go to the bin folder. This should update those functions.

Oracle Smart View 11.1.2.5.400 prompt bug still not resolved?

in our company we have OBIEE 11.1.1.7.140715 and we are testing Oracle Smart View 11.1.2.5.400 (Build 376) on Excel 2007 32 bit and Excel 2013 64 bit to allow our final users to work more easily.
Unfortunately almost all of our reports contains prompts and when we try to insert an object in the Excel worksheet we see the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object” and Excel hangs.
Is there any solution?

Smart View error logging in to an application

Hello,
I successfully installed Smart View on a computer with Windows XP SP3. I can connect to the data source, but when I try to connect to an application, after entering the username and password, an error pops up: "Requested operation failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Do anybody know the issue?

Are you connecting to a Planning or Essbase datasource connection?
Can you try connecting to other DS connections to see if it works?
If connecting to an Essbase datasource, have you configured your APS correctly?

I realized that I can put a block in WebI and then I can pull that in excel alongside of static header, after putting the question.
My interest to know whether it is by design in XI 3.0 or it is an issue. But by the replies it seems to me like it is by design.
@Anis: I can't go for header as part of Body. Because this report is viewed in Web by many other users. I can't have separate report for Live office, it is a restriction for me. If I use the header in body, it wont look good I guess.

Issue with smart view add-in in MS word 2003

I have smart view 9314 and office 2003 installed on my machine. I can see hyperion tab in excel and it works fine but i can't see hyperion tab in word or powerpoint. Its not in disabled items for word. I tried to add HsTBar.xla in word using Templates and Add-Ins option but it throws error: Invalid add-in. Any info to resolve the issue would be highly appreciated.

Most Office 365 uses cases and users end up with Office installed on the desktop and at that point we are talking about normal Office Support. Right now it is up to the Office 365 administrator to determine the version of Office to be used by their 365 users. http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-enterprises/ff637585.aspx
Short answer is that Smart View does not support Office 365 Web Apps and there are no plans to support the Web Apps.

Excel 2007 and Smart View 9.3.1.4.041

Dear Experts,
We are now working with Excel 2007 and Smart View 9.3.1.4.041, and encounter the problem that ervery time open the protected excel file there would be the warning message "Drawing Objectes in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Please unprotect them and try to save again."
Can any one suggest with;
1. How to set the Excel security settings for Excel 2007 to work for smart view?
2. How to avoid the message mentioned above while working with Excel 2007?
3. How to create a protected Excel file to work with Smart View 9.3.1.4.041 both in Excel 2003 and Excel 2007?

I've experiencied similiar problems, though other users may have found a better solution, I've unlocked the spreadsheat, refreshed, and then relocked via a VBA macro. A button object at the top of the spreadsheet was added to make it easier for the users use as well. If there is a better solution I am very interested in this as well.

How to see Shared Members in Smart View on Ad-hoc Analysis mode

We are using Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3.
For the alternate hierarchy we have created shared members. But in Smart View we are unable to see Shared members hierarchy in Ad-hoc analysis mode.
Is this limitation in Hyperion Planning?
Or
Is there any way to see shared members Hierarchy in Smart View in Ad-hoc analysis mode?
It is urgent requirement Please let me know as early as possible

When you say open data form in Ad-hoc mode, can you do that? I think when you select Ad-hoc mode, you are basically connecting to Essbase and therefore need to manually select the members. (of course, I've got a 11.1.2 env right now so not too sure of 11.1.1.3)
I'm able to just go to Member Selection and select whatever hierarchy i want, Shared or Stored, when I'm connected to Essbase. When connecting to Planning, I dont have any option of opening the form as Ad-hoc mode.
Can you see the hierarchy if selecting the members using Essbase connection and not planning?

I understand you are on 11.1.1.3.
However, this is documented in the Known Issues section of the Smart View 11.1.2.1 readme and could be worth a try:
When you try to open a Planning web form in Smart View through Workspace, you may get this error: “Web launch operation has been cancelled.” This happens if Essbase has not been added as a server in Shared Connections. Workaround: Open the Smart View Panel in Smart View and add an Essbase server as described in the online help or "Adding Essbase Servers" in chapter 2 of the Smart View User's Guide.
