Filtering Datatarget in Multiprovider level in BEx

Hello All
Facing some problems and its confusing me.
Iam having a multiprovider on two cubes(cube1 and cube2).Here if suppose if I don't want to get data(output) from cube1,what should v do,how to restrict this?
(what i did is I placed cube1 in filter in query designer, since in filter's what ever u filter ,apart this the other data will be displayed, like cube2 should be displayed after execution, but cube1 only is displaying)
Hope u all got my point. What is the functionality of this Filters in multiprovider / cube / ods / infoset
pl let me know
regards
balaji

Hi
Majeed
Thanks for your message.
Is 0infoprovider is an infoobject(standard infoobject)which v need to install and should be placed in cube level in characteristics.
Then in transfer rule for which field v should assign this.
Do v get data for this?(I don't think so)
pl let me know clearly abt this.

  • Filters in the aggregation level

    Hello
    I use IP 7.0.
I set up a filter in the aggregation level (Calendar month between 05.2007 and 07.2007). But this filter is not taken into account when I run the query? Why?

Filters on the aggregation level are automatically available to be used in the query; but not necessary to use. You can set your own filters in the query. If you ned to use the filter set on the aggregation level, then you need to physically darg it and to the query definition side. In a way it is like a structure.

  • Filters at record level and filters restrictions at cell level

    Hello Crystal Report friends:
We are aware that we can apply filters globally (record Level). We need to add additional filters(Restrictions) at cell level. How do we apply filters at a cell Level?

    Joe Gonzales

And along with what Ian said be careful when exporting also, some suppressed fields may export even though you have supressed them, so you are not removing the data, just hiding it. If the user has rights to edit the report they could "unhide" the info.
Depending on the version of CR you are using depends on the output, our export formats tend to change on how they work and what is exported etc.
There are Various DB tools from SAP Enterprise that has the ability to do row level filtering if that is an option for you.

  • Authorization Check on Multiprovider level

    hi,
    We have following requirement.
    1. we have two groups accessing the same reports (A and B).
    2. When user from A view the report, he should only see the data from A. Similar for B, he should only see data from B.
    3. We also provide ad-hoc query creation in production through Query Designer.
We thought of creating authorization relevant object and include it in query. But the problem is, if they dont include the authorization object in the query, then data will not be filtered and we will get data security issue. We dont have any problem with Canned queries (deliverd by developers). but while creating ad-hoc query, they might remove the authorization relevant field. Hence, this type of authorization may not work for us.
    Option 2:
    1. While loading the data split the data and load into seperate cubes. That is Cube-A and Cube-B.
    2. Apply info provider level security to Cube-A and Cube-B (based on PFCG security roles)
    3. Create a multiprovider on top of Cube-A and Cube-B
    4. Expose this mutliprovider for ad-hoc and other quries.
But i am not sure about following things.
    1. Lets say A tries to access the report created on this multiprovider.
    2. As the multiprovider splits the query to Cube-A and Cube-B, will he gets authorization failed error on Cube-B? Or whether multiprovider just ignores data from Cube-B and shows only Cube-A data?
    3. Or, will it ignore the authorization at Cube-B and shows all the data?
    4. if this model works from authorization perspective, what are the drawbacks we have with this approach.
Please let me know your thoughts on this design and also suggest if you have any other solution.
    regards
    Raghavendra

    Hi,
If the user is restricted to an infoprovider in the role then it works perfectly with out any security leak.If the user tries to acess any other infoprovider then authorisation chk works and throws an error message "No authorisation".
As we do not have control at the query designer level to restrict the user by an authorisation variable(considering adhoc queries) better to restrict the user with infoprovider restriction at role level.
    1. Lets say A tries to access the report created on this multiprovider.
User A will be able to view the data from the infoprovider A only.
    2. As the multiprovider splits the query to Cube-A and Cube-B, will he gets authorization failed error on Cube-B? Or whether multiprovider just ignores data from Cube-B and shows only Cube-A data?
Multiprovider does not know or able to differentiate A and B its just physical stucture formed by the combination of fields from infoprovider A and B. If the user tries to access the fields from Infoprovider B then he will get an authorisation error as he is not authorised to Cube B.
    3. Or, will it ignore the authorization at Cube-B and shows all the data?
Authorisation check will happen as per the infoprovider restriction assigned to the user in the role so it does not show the other values.
    4. if this model works from authorization perspective, what are the drawbacks we have with this approach.
The user should be well aware of the fields from A and B, if any of the filed is used for which he is not authorised then it gives an error. If the multiprovider has large number of objects then its slightly difficult for the user to remember the fields from which infoprovider to use and not to use.
Also if u have logically split the data into two infoproviders then why do you need multiprovider ? Let A work on A and B on B. So no complexity of multiprovider.
Let me know if i miss anything.

  • Filtering signal at engine level

I'm using DSC and Historical Database Logging and I have one signal that is noisy. Using hardware to filter is not practical in my setup.
I would like to be able to have some filtration on that signal at the engine level. I mean, I can use filtering vi in my application to smooth the signal for the front panel graph, but what is saved to the Citadel database has noise on it. So, when I export these data to Excel for analysis, the noise is present.
Making the deadband bigger doesn't help because if I have a slow rising (but noisy) waveform, it will be aquired like a big step.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Michel.

As there is currently no way to add averaging or filtering to the tag configuration you will have to do this in the application. Then you could write the filtered data to a memory tag to make them available in the Citadel database and to export them to Excel.

  • Detail data at multiprovider level

    Hi,
I have a query on multiprovider constructed over 2 DSO's. the Query over DSO shows the data in Detail level, but when we execute the query on multiprovider we are getting aggregated level. is there any options in multiprovider to change the data flow to query to detail level.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Joseph M.

When you want to see data at detailed level you need to drilldown in the query at that details.
For eg : If you want to see data at sales doc level  then just drill down by sales doc.
If you want to see data by sales doc item level then you need to drill down by sales doc item level.
If you dont want to see sales doc item but want to see all key figure at sales doc item level then put sales doc item in the rows of query designer and choose No Display as its property.
    Hope this helps.

  • Multiple reads of the same data from Multiprovider by Query (Bex)

    Hello, guys!
We're having issue with performance of a query built on Multiprivider. During our investigation, we've found out that within one run of a Query, it several times refers to InfoProvider for the same data (see image attached).
Do you have ideas what can be a reason for multiply reads of the same data from Multipvovider?

    Hello Nikita,
By "copy of a query" i meant something like this as shown below :
*Kindly click on the screenshot for a better view.
    1) See the highlighted portions below in the screenshot . See Query 2 highlighted and name of the BEx query highlighted.
    2) See the highlighted portions . See Query 3 highlighted and name of the BEx query highlighted.
As you can see from the above screenshots i have used the same BEx query 2 times by the name of Query 2 & Query 3 . Infact i have not attached the complete screenhsot . In that i have used it 6 times.
I have to analyze this a bit in detail but what i am guessing is that when this WEBi is called the single BEx is also called multiple times. And hence it hits the Info Provider multiple times resulting in a decreased performance.
But this does not mean that this is wrong approach. There are various areas where you can improve for example :
    1) Either improve your BEx query if possible or use aggregates or something like that .
    2) Use the  Query stripping setting in WEBi so that unused dimensions and measures are not pulled resulting in an improved performance. It's switched on by default.
    Thanks!!

  • How to display the Hierarchy Node Level in BEx

    Hi Folks,
In my report I have a Hierarchy. I have to display the Node level of the Hierarchy in the output.
    For Eg:
If I have BB under AA root node then in the output it should display Level 1 for AA and Level 2 for BB.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Srikanth N

I don't think it is possble to display the hierarchy level in the report itself.
However, if you go to properties of the characteristic where you have the hierarchy defined, there you can expand the hierarchy to a pre-defined level...I guess you know that.

    Regards,

AFAIK this is not possible with log4j except by writing a custom Logger subclass which is not very difficult.
But, your question doesn't have anything to do with JSF and would had been better asked in log4j's forum/mailinglist.

  • BEx and Multiprovider dimensions don't match

    Hi there,
I have created a MultiProvider in the SAP BW (version: SAP EHP 1 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 - SP 08). This MultiProvider has 7 dimensions with one InfoObject under each. For example in the MultiProvider level I have the following:
    DimensionA (InfoObject1)
    DimensionB (InfoObject2)
    DimensionC (InfoObject3)
    DimensionD (InfoObject4),...etc.
I then created a BEx query on top of this MultiProvider (Query1). When I create this query in the BEx Query Designer, the InfoObjects sitting in the InfoProvider Panel are scrambled under other Dimensions like this:
    DimensionA (InfoObject3)
    DimensionB (InfoObject1)
    DimensionC (InfoObject4)
    DimensionD (InfoObject2),...etc.
This only happens to 1 of the MultiProvider that I have created. Can anyone help?

Recheck - on which Multiprovider you designed Query.
Check Characteristics assignments -Multiprovider level. Activate it

  • Can't update MAC filtering in ServerAdmin/NetBoot at the Image level

    Strange business here.
I have one NetBoot image, set as Default. It's enabled and diskless. Clients can NetBoot to it just fine - no problem. It's great.
I have two NetInstall images, created successfully with the System Image Util. They're both enabled... but no matter what I do, clients don't see 'em and won't install from 'em.
I think it has to do with filters at the Image level, but I'm not sure:
On the NetBoot image - the one that works fine - the image filters are set to (model filter) "Allow Any Apple Computer" and (Mac Address) "Allow only clients listed below (deny others)." Thing is, nothing is listed under MAC address filtering... so WHY is this working for the clients? and why are the NetInstall images not working? They have the same Image-level filters in place.
In fact, on the Image filter pane, no matter what I change, the changes aren't saved - when I click "OK," then go back into the pane, it's blank again.
Everything's on the same subnet; there's no funky networking going on or anything like that. NetInstalls work(ed) fine from my Tiger server. Note that my DHCP resides on a separate Windows server. Since I've been able to NetBoot and NetInstall from my 10.4 machine, I'm not inclined to think the DHCP is at fault here.
Oh - and one other tasty tidbit: in the Log files I see "can't open /etc/bootptab". This isn't entirely surprising since I went to /etc and there isn't a file or directory there by that name...

Per image MAC address filtering, sadly, does not work. Although I don't believe it will interfere with anything, you're probably best off just leaving that action out of your workflow.
Server level filtering works fine. If you need MAC address filtering, you'll have to do it there.
One quick thing you can try... toggle something on the image (enabled state for instance) and click "save". This may reset bootpd if it has cached old data.

  • Hierarchy Level value displayed in BEx Query

Is there a way to display the Hierarchy Level value (0, 1, 2, etc...) associated with each hierarchy level in BEx Query as a characteristic?
we are currently using the Crystal Reports function HierarchyLevel(GroupingLevel(GL Account Node id)) to display the level of the node (0, 1, 2, etc...).  Is there something similar to this in BEx Query.
We would like to use this Level value to do groupings in Crystal Reports.  When we try to create a Group, we can only create the groups on fields that are brought over in the BEx Query results.
    Thanks --

    Hi ,
Hierarchy level can be defined in Bex query as well.
In the query property there is option where you can say hierarchy active for that particular object.
Also you can define level upto which it can be active in initial display say 3 level
Also when you want to drill down further level 4,5 you can right click and select that particular level say 4 or 5 or 6.
If you want to display hierarchy flat there is no option in BW then to right code, but I heard in crystal report it will automatically display in fl;at version as well  means
    Level 0 level 1   ......KF1 KF2  etc.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi,
We have the machine with following config:
    O.S  - Windows 7
    SAP GUI - 710
    MS Office 2007
When a user logs into Bex Analayzer, clicks on Add-ins he gets an error message in German.
Same kind of problem was encountered with Office 2003, but MS fix 907417 solved the problem.
But i am not able to find any such fix for Office 2007.
Can anyone tell me what should be the patch level of Bex in this case?

    Hi,
What is the exact error message you are getting?

  • Multiprovider is not acting properly

    Hi Gurus,
Need some help on the following issue.
A multiprovider built on 4 cubes and profit centre info objects. For a new reporting requirement on this multiprovider, i had to filter based on navigational attribute.  i found after filtering using that navigational attribute one key figure is not populating in the report at all. After detail analysis on the issue i found that the navigatinal attribute is enabled on the multiprovider level but in one of the cube where the unpopulated key figure is based, the navigational attribute is not enabled. So, i enabled the navigational attribute on the cube level. But the key figure is still not populating in the report.
I did the list cube both on multiprovider and on the infocube,
In the infocube's listcube the navigatinal attribute is populating along with key figure.
In the multiprovider's listcube  i choose all the field along with  field infoprovider to see from which cube data is coming.
I found that navigational attribute is populating for all the cube except for the infocube where the key figure is based on.
I have done some analysis in RSRT using the report. I have run the report with multiprovider explain option. It shows in the infocube some genenal restriction for the navigational attribute. That is why the navigatinal attribute is excluded.
    Please help me.

    Hi Mitu,
Right click on the navigational attribute in the multiprovider and choose identify/assign.
Check the assignment of the navigational attribute of the infoprovider(cube) with respect to the navigational attribute of the multiprovider.
The checkbox for the assignments should be checked for all the four infocubes.
    Hope it helps,
    Best regards,
    Sunmit.
