Filtering Hotmail email coming to Blackberry

I have setup my hotmail account to come to my blackberry 8100.  It works fine, with minimal issues.  Today, I added some new folders in hotmail, and moved some old emails to them.  All of a sudden I started receiving a bunch of emails on the blackberry.  I only want things that come into my inbox.  How do I fix  this?

Hi,
You can setup a filter in the settings on the Hotmail account.
You can also filter the BIS account from the BIS website.
Thanks,
Bifocals

  • Problems setting up hotmail email account on Blackberry Pearl

I have had difficulty setting up my hotmail account on my pearl. whenever i enter my username and password (which i have checked millions of times to ensure that it is correct) and hit log in i get the message "please check your information and try again". no matter how many times i try it i get the same message! has anyone had the same problem or know of a solution?

Hotmail has a policy of allowing old (which is active for long time or the ID that is never been deactivated) mail IDs to integrate with BlackBerry. Likewise, I can integrate my primary mail ID which is active for the last 17 years! My another ID which is also activated at the same time but blocked several time due to less use can't be integrate.

  • Emails from my Blackberry are getting trapped by spam filtering

It's not a consistent thing, which makes this more aggravating, but I have my work email set up on my Storm (9530), and many times, when I reply to an email that involves my co-workers, my emails get trapped by our online spam filtering.  Both my work email, as well as the "bis" Blackberry information has been added to the "whitelist", but these emails still have occasion to be trapped.
Can someone please help me get to the bottom of what is being embedded in the source header information from these emails that might be causing this problem?
I've noticed this is true of other emails originating from BlackBerry phones, regardless of the carrier.
    Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I'm thinking that you need to work with your SPAM filtration vendor...all of the header information is fully visible to an administrator who traps one of the captured emails. They need to compare that trapped email to the rules they have in their SPAM filter. I pretty much doubt that anyone "out here" could possibly have the level of access required to do any meaningful diagnostics. Unless I misunderstand your request...
    Good luck!

  • Hotmail Email account not working on my Phone anymore

Hi.  I have a Curve 8330 on the Sprint network.  About a day and a half ago I stopped receiving my emails on my phone.  I can't send email either.  SMS, MMS, Blackberry messenger all work fine.  My email account works fine if I log in through the browser.  My wife has the same phone and also has a hotmail email account and hasn't had any problems.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

  • I can't set up a hotmail email!

    Hi,
I can't set up my hotmail email. I go to setup in the menu, choose setup wizard, than Email setup, and there is the problem. There is no option: "I want to create or add an email address". Only:"I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server"
    Please help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

  • Cannot set up email account on blackberry curve 9360

Although I can surf the net, I am unable to set up an email account. I don't understand why it is an "enterprise account". What does this mean? I simply want to set up a hotmail account on this mobile. I already have a hotmail account on my laptop and all I want to do is to be able to send and receive emails on the Blackberry. I cannot get past the requirement to enter an Activation Password. When I enter my normal password here it goes off trying to acquire a service connection. Eventually a screen says "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable. OK.
Setting up my iPhone was easy compared to this. What am I doing wrong?

  • Hotmail email problem!!

How could I have had 2 Hotmail email accounts which both syncs constantly and downloads ALL folders included my personal folders and everything in them for three years on my N8 and 808PV? Ive been told pop3 cant do this and only Exchance ActiveSync do this but only allow ONE single email account!
Now since 3 weeks back my 2 Hotmail email accounts (widgets) are indeed NOT working as they have been for the last 3 years....WHY??  What Im I doin wrong or have somethign changed??
Its a BIG mystery for me....anyone here with Hotmail and with one or several Hotmail widgets on your N8´s or 808´s??
Are yours syncing to Hotmail and downloads alla fodlers and old mails or just ONLY new emails??
Ive tried EVERYTHING to get it all back as it were but it seem impossible...Ive even factoryresetted with deletion of all files and everything STILL I cant make it run as it has for 3 years when chooseing Hotmail when Im setting up an email in my phone....Ive doen it many many times before with no problems...but now its impossible since 3 weeks back...WHY??  Please help!

Hi, I'm also new and had the same question http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2420622&tstart=0. Apparently Apple Mail doesn't download the Hotmail folders (or hotmail doesn't talk to mail properly - can't remember the finer details).
I went into hotmail and moved everything to the 'Inbox' and now filter in Apple Mail. It ***** if I want to look at hotmail from the Web but I don't really do that too much anyway.
It also still filters my junk appropriately in Apple Mail.
Not the best solution but at least it works and didn't have to cancel my 10 year old hotmail account.
    Cheers

  • Validating email address on blackberry curve

I need help to validate my hotmail address on my blackberry curve.  I cannot access the username to the blackberry device in email setup to even do this.  I need help

Please note that you can also contact your carrier as they may have been the ones to set up your BIS password, in which case, they should be able to give you your BIS login information.  When you call, simply chose the option for BlackBerry Technical Support (exact options may vary dependent on your carrier).  Once you have spoken to them and have the login info, you can login to your BlackBerry Email Settings and update/revalidate your Hotmail password.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
FYI -- what you are attempting to do is use your BB, via BIS, to access your work email via their OWA environment. While that is supported, it can be tricky. I, honestly, could never get mine to configure via the device interface to BIS (Setup > Email Settings). Only by using a PC and going to my carriers BIS website could I get my OWA configured in BIS. You may need to do the same.
You can find your carriers BIS website via this portal:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Where_can_I_log_into_my_BIS_account%3F
And you can find the specific detailed instructions for configuring OWA in this KB.
There are some limitations concerning OWA, but let's hold off on discussing those until you try out the above procedure.
Oh...btw...you will have to create credentials for your BIS account so that, when you log into it from a PC/browser, your carrier can identify and authenticate you. Typically, I find it easier to create the BIS credentials on the BB interface to BIS...then you can enter them in the BB interface, with the 'Remember Me' checkbox so that you only have to enter them one time on the BB itself. Then, when you use your carriers web interface to BIS, you will use those credentials to log in and conduct the OWA configuration.
    Cheers!

  • IPad2 and a new MacBook running Lion, Both Devices use the same Apple ID which is a Hotmail eMail id. Can I create a new iCloud eMail Id and use iCloud eMail and continue to use my Hotmail Id for my Apple Id and use it for iTunes, iCloud

I have an iPad2 and a new MacBook running Mountain Lion. Both Devices use the same Apple ID which is a Hotmail eMail id. Can I create a new iCloud eMail Id and use iCloud eMail and continue to use my current Hotmail Id for my Apple Id for iTunes, iCloud.
Note, I will use both Hotmail and iCloud eMail.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • IPhone iOS 7 and Macbook Air Mavericks, deleting hotmail emails to POP folder! Help!

I have an iPhone using the iOS 7 and a Macbook Air using Mavericks (although I'm not sure how relevant this is) and both are set up to receive and send emails to my hotmail account.. Every so often (I think a month or so) I check my emails on either device to find that my hotmail emails have been deleted from my device. When I then log on to hotmail's website, they have been moved to a POP folder, so I then have to move my emails to my inbox and the phone and macbook start receiving them again, very strange! I assume somewhere the settings are wrong, on either my macbook or phone (or possibly hotmail itself). If you have any ideas, please help me, it's getting very annoying!
    Thanks!

    Hey lkpolovchik,
Thanks for the question. Yes, you can continue to use iCloud Contacts, Calendars and other services with OS X Mavericks and iOS 8 devices. Only some features require iOS 8. For a full list of minimum system requirements by feature, check out the following resource:

  • Hotmail emails in my inbox on the server but will not show up on my iPhone?

Help - I have hotmail emails in my inbox on my computer but they will not show up on my iPhone.  I am using the "Windows Live Hotmail" option in the settings.  The specific emails are not marked as junk, still in my inbox, they are addressed to me, they span about 2 weeks with some as recent as 3 days ago and are all from 3 specific people regarding my sons baseball team.  I have tried deleting my account and setting it back up.  I've added the email addresses to my contacts to see if that helped.  I didn't have this issue when I used the generic pop 3 type of setup.  I moved to the Windows Live Hotmail setup so when I delete an email from my iphone it also deletes it from the server.  This is all working perfectly.  I don't actually log into the server very often and almost missed this email.  Thanks!

  • When I open a hotmail email on my iPad, it doesn't show as opened when I go on my mac.

I am a fairly new owner of an iPad air.  Am stumbling on a few issues, one of which is that when I open a hotmail email on my iPad, when I next go to my mac the same email displays as unopened.  It means I am having to duplicate actions with emails.  Can anyone help?  Thank you.

I know nothing about Hotmail accounts, but if Hotmail is a POP email provider, what you are seeing is normal behavior for POP email. IMAP email accounts will sync across devices - whatever you do on one device is reflected on all devices. However, as I said, that is not how POP works. You have to read, delete etc. on each device.

  • Having a problem with Firefox using Hotmail email. Inbox - as checking messages it freezes up or a 1 item window follows cursor and does not allow you to enter

I am having a problem accessing Hotmail email messages via Fireflox server. When I am in the Inbox, reviewing messages, it either freezes up or a "1 item" small icon window follows cursor and does not allow me to enter messages or do anything. Have to log off and start over. Suggestions>?

Can you detect any pattern to it, whether related to messages with attachments, or particular advertising on the page, etc.?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
(Usually the dialog will refer to live.com rather than hotmail.com, that's normal.)
Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?
