Filters cause PS to crash out.
Ive been using CC for a few months. As of this morning when i try to use any filter it shuts PS down. All other tools work fine. Any idea why?
Have you installed all the Photoshop updates?
And are you referring to Photoshop filters, or a third party plugin filter?

Filters cause CS6 to crash after update
Hello:
I am running Photosop CS6 64 bit on a Windows 7 machine with a quad i& Intel processor and 12 GB RAM.
Everythng ran perfect until I installed the latest updates. I got a message that the update failed, the code brought me to update my Application Manager, which I did. Now the manager tells me that my Photoshop is up to date. BUT wehenever I try to use one of the filters in like the vanishing point, lens correction, liquify, Photoshop stops working and crashes. Also the filter to process images in Camera Raw is not showing (I do not know if this one is included in the update though or is only CC). The rest of the filters like blur, noise etc. work normally.
I figured that my installation somehow became corrupt and try to re-install, but get thatr message that Photoshop CS6 is already installed, (DUH!)
Any suggestions ?
Thank you for your attention.
AndreHello:
Indeed, version 13.0.0, so I installed first the update to 13.0.1.1, rebooted and success, filters there again. Then I went to the update to 13.0.1.2, update failed, filters disappeared again. And reverted to 13.0.0 !
Re-applied the 13.0.1 udate, again success. again reappearance of filters, and now shows version 13.0.1, as it should. Now start my updated Application manager, chews a bit on it and then shows me: Photoshop up-to-date ! This notwithstanding the 13.0.1.1 version showing.
Thus, I am afraid I am stuck with uninstalling and then re-installing, which will not be for now as I do not have any problems, the filters are working etc, and, uninstalling and reinstalling is a hassle I will do it in the near future.
Thanks for the help
Andre
EDIT/UPDATE 2013/06/12
A possible cause could be that I have the Russel Brownextension to edit a picutre or layer in ACR. I tried to remove it with the extension manager, who caims it is removed but it shows still up and works perfectly. So, for the moment, I am going to live with it.
Thanks for your help

Live! Cam Voice causing XP to crash
I have been using the Live! Cam Voice with no problems for about two months. However, now all of a sudden it is causing XP to crash and reboot, sometimes after an hour or so, and sometimes all it takes is having WebCam Center opened without uploading. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and downloading the latest version of the driver and installing just that, while uploading from non-Creative software - XP still crashes, so I assume it is the driver that is the problem.
I have also the driver and software for the NX Ultra (can't remember the exact name) installed, but this hasn't been interfering, as I said everything worked smoothly until a few days ago. Incidentally, the crashing started after I installed MS desktop search which made the PC very slow; it isn't currently installed, but the crash/reboot problem persists.
Any idea what is wrong, and what I can do? Ta.Did you ever solve this problem? I have a similar problem on my desk top running Vista Home. I couldn't get the Vista driver (download from this wesite) to load so resorted to trying the XP dri've. This seemed to work until Vista put the machine into "Sleep" mode. After coming out of Sleep mode I eith have to restart the computer or disconnect and reconnect the webcam.

Connecting firewire disk causes coreaudio to crash
I have a Western Digitial "my book" firewire drive which worked perfectly under Tiger. I just upgraded to Leopard, after waiting a few months to make sure the early bugs got worked out. I guess I was premature in upgrading? Has anyone else seen the following firewire behavior:
I have an audio stream (last.fm) playing over the digital line out. Everything is fine. As soon as I turn on my Western Digital drive (connected via firewire 800) the audio stops, and when I look at the console, there are continuous error messages to the effect that coreaudio has crashed due to a bus error. As soon as I dismount and turn off the firewire drive, coreaudio starts working fine again. This is completely reproducible -- connecting the firewire drive always causes coreaudio to crash. This NEVER happened under Tiger, so it's not a hardware problem. (And I am not using any WD drivers, only stock Apple firewire drivers. And the system profiler sees the WD drive just fine.)
I see that there are LOTS of firewire problems noted on the forum. Has anyone seen this interaction with coreaudio? Does anyone have a suggested fix?Thanks for the suggestions. I don't particularly like this WD MyBook; its fans are too noisy and it runs hot, but at least under Tiger it performed just fine.
I downloaded and installed the latest WD firmware (104a) but that didn't help. I noticed that several other MyBook models have had recent firmware updates targeted specifically at Leopard, but not my model (the Pro Edition II.)
But I'm sure this is mostly a Leopard software issue -- the exact same crash to coreaudio occurs if I plug in my HV20 camera. Even if the WD drive is not hooked up.
I have not tried to "reset the firewire bus" -- I'll have to find out how to do that.

It uses a simple class file to just draw a circle, any thought on why this would cause it to crash? The part in bold is what causes the crash
import com.tools.circleDraw.circleDraw;
var sets:getSet = new getSet();
var circDraw:circleDraw;
var circArray:Array = new Array();
var xCoord:Number;
var yCoord:Number;
sets.array = circArray;
board.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,makeCircle,false,0,true);
board.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,expand,false,0,true);
function makeCircle(e:MouseEvent):void {
circDraw = new circleDraw();
addChild(circDraw);
circDraw.x = mouseX;
circDraw.y = mouseY;
circDraw.mouseEnabled = false;
circDraw.mouseChildren = false;
sets.array.push(circDraw);
function expand(e:Event):void {
for (var i:int = 0; i<sets.array.length; i++) {
trace(sets.array[i]);
sets.array[i].height += 3;
sets.array[i].width += 3;
for (var j:int = 0; j<sets.array.length; i++) {
if (i != j) {
if (sets.array[i].hitTestObject(sets.array[j])) {
sets.array[i].height -= 3;
sets.array[i].width -= 3;It's crashing probably because there's no way out of your "for" statement.

Lightroom 4 importing causing program to crash.
Lightroom 4 will not import files. Windows 7 pop-up states; "there is a problem with this program that is preventing it from running correctly will check for solution". "Windows failed to find a solution must shut down program now".
This prevents the import page from loading or working and no images can be imported using usb or SATA connections. Was able to use computer's built-in card-reader to read from Sd and compact cards, those were able to run in the import window only because of preference setting. "when a Memory card is installed import files" (preference-setting). Any other means of importing files, the out-come is the program crashing and being shut down. All other functions outside the import menu seem to be working. Deleting all catalogs and then using the default catalog setting, failed to clear issue.
System info: Windows 7 64-bit, Intel i7 cpu, 16 gigs of ram, 4 one terabyte hard-drives.
Solutions tried. Removing Lightroom 4, all catalogs, then running defrag, registry cleaner, before attempting to re-installing lightroom 4. Removing lightroom 4 and installing lightroom 3.6 fails to fix issue. Removing all Lightroom products from hardrive,Including the windows program folder, windows programs data folder. Then rebooting re-running defrag, registry cleaner and re-installing lightroom 4 fails to fix importing issue. No way to contact support and links to user group fail to take me to correct user group. Question with the lead as lightroom 4 importing causes program to crash. Takes me to everything but lightroom solutions! Now this takes me to photoshop user group which has nothing to do with lightroom. With lightroom 4 in the question itself, I get everything but lightroom solutions!Camera raw is built into Lightroom. It is the engine that makes the corrections within an image. You might not see as a seperate program, like earlier versions of Lightroom. Or having to launch it in a new window to work in camera raw. In version 4 of Lightroom it was made seamless and built into Lightroom.
Lightroom 4 was installed in the admin log-in window. I have all useage rights to any file lightroom creates or adjusts. I am thinking that the Photoshop CS6 beta created some working problem within Lightroom 4. Now that the beta-test program is over, I think the problem is a result of removing Photoshop's last build, before the public beta was released. I do hope, Adobe is working on a solution for people experiencing importing problems with Lightroom 4. I am just grabbing at straws here, trying to find something that will work. I think the problem will go away once computer has the new camera raw build 7.0 that ships in Photoshop CS6. With so many versions of camera raw installed on the computer, I think Lightroom is having issues as a result. Let's hope a patch is in the works, Lightroom 4 is useless if importing files doesn't work correctly.
B&H photo is taking pre-orders for the creative suites, right now. The only way to get support is by purchasing a subscription. Otherwise it is a $35.00 per issue fee. So, I am not sure of what upgrade path I will take. Not loving the cloud at all, with this year of Hackers, I seriously doubt that any cloud will prove to be safe to use. Why would, I want to post my hard work to a cloud where anyone can steal it? But that is a different topic.
For right now the only way to import is by creating an empty folder on the same hard-drive that Lightroom resides on. Setting up auto-import in Lightroom Pref. file to check that empty folder. Folder has to be empty to set up. Then dragging image files into that empty folder. I discovered that Lightroom 4 will not open or look in sub-folders for images. Which means you lose keeping a day's worth of shooting seperate from other folders. Where Lightroom version 3.6 you could.There was a second auto-import that worked, with my built-in memory-card reader. Where in the Lightroom pref.file you can tell Lightroom to auto-import, when a memory-card is detected. ( this is the least viable option, because more memory card become damaged removing and reinstalling them). These were the only two methods, I could get images into Lightroom 4 and prevent Lightroom from crashing. Might have to go back to using Nikon NX to import my images and using Bridge to catalog them. -
whoever posted this idea, don't know where I even saw it now, thank you big time!!!
This caused everything to crash repeatedly!
Uninstalling 3ivx allowed by managed library on the external drive to finally load without crashing, to play videos recognizing format like it used to...finally I see a light at the end of the tunnel!!!I only realized it because in system preference window I had perian and flip4mac and "3ivx mpeg-4" listed. I also had an icon somewhere for "uninstall 3ivx".
My library was a managed library on an external drive, I understand all the network referenced guys are hating life. My videos were visible but the thumbnails were randomly pixelated, aperture crashed continuously and videos would show up with just blank white screens.
I was able to open the library with snow leopard and it ran fine so it is a lion issue with some glitch of video format problems. I spent hours and a trip to the genius bar who told me to wait for software update. I uninstalled 3ivx and presto!
I would spotlight "3ivx" and see what other codecs or video programs or converters you may have. Also, there is a documented apple problem of issues with final cut express causing aperture to quit or crash. Doesn't sound like your issue but thought I'd throw it out there in case.
I don't have much experience with referenced network libraries, which from the sound of it, I am glad!
let me know if you find anything interesting! -
Not only Logic but also Ableton are crashing out all the time making it impossible to work with.
Recently I installed a couple of audio units and also a lame encoder for peak pro so i re traced my steps and removed the most recent audio software installed including the lame encoder. Did my disc permissions and verified disc (which was ok)
Rebooted and reset p-ram.
Still getting the same issue and not sure what could be causing it.
Far from doing a full format and install of osx and all my apps i'm stumped.
Any ideas?mezerik wrote:

There might still be traces of radioactivity in your caches files.
Use Onyx to smash them to bits.

Cfloop within select causes Dreamweaver to crash
Placing a cfloop tag within a select (or cfselect) tag causes
Dreamweaver to crash when the mouse is clicked anywhere within the
code window. Code as below:
(Code attached)
The cfloop was going to be used to produce additional option
elements. The option element values were to be taken from the list.
Dreamweaver won't even let you edit the statement out or
comment it because it crashes as soon as you click to place the
curser within the code window.WaltBulawa wrote:

You haven't really resolved the problem, but delayed it for
another day.
To avoid the risk of future crashes, I recommend that you
delete
WinFileCache-********.dat after closing Dreamweaver down for
the day. A
clean version of the file will be generated automatically
when you next
use DW.

Downloaded last weeks episode of GLEE. When it was finished, I checked the "Season Pass HD" radio button to see if what I had downloaded was in HD (which I wanted), vice SD. I saw that what I had was indeed HD, and at the box prompt I "x'd" out of it instead of completing the box - which would have caused me to pay for the season...which I do not want at this time.
I cannot open the episode. Trying causes iTunes to crash.
Any ideas why?Try the following user tip:

Digital booklet from iTunes causing Preview to crash
I was conflicted about whether to put this question in the iTunes for Mac or the Mountain Lion community, but, as you can see, I've settled on Mountain Lion because I believe iTunes is not causing the problem.
I downloaded "Electric Ladyland" from iTunes the other day and received a digital booklet with the album. When I double-clicked the booklet in iTunes, Preview would open up (as it does with any of the other digital booklets I have stored in iTunes) and display the first or the second page of the PDF. After swiping either left or right to view the previous or the next page, though, Preview would completely shut down, necesitating a force quit every time.
Most concerning to me is the fact that every time I tried opening this PDF in Preview my whole Mac would slow down significantly and, according to iStat Menus and the Activity Monitor, my memory and CPU usage would spike. Prior to clicking the booklet, my Mac would normally be using less than 2 of its 4 GB of memory and the CPU would be almost completely idle, with no individual program using up more than 30% of its processing power at any point in time. While this particular PDF was open in Preview my memory usage would jump to the full 4 GB and Activity Monitor was reporting that Preview was using almost "200%" of my CPU.
Interestingly enough, I can open this PDF with Adobe Reader and am able to view every page just fine. None of my other digital booklets or other PDFs outside of iTunes cause Preview to crash like this, so I think it must be an issue between this specific file and Preview.
I tried deleting and re-downloading the file (I had to contact iTunes support so they could re-upload the booklet to my account) and that did nothing; the booklet still caused the same problems. The support staff member I was emailing back and forth with had no suggestions for me. She forwarded me to an AppleCare advisor who also had no idea what the problem might be. (He actually forwarded me back to iTunes support!)
Anyone else experienced this?Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Copy the PDF you're having problems with to the Public folder in your home folder.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. You'll need to navigate in the Finder to the Users folder, then to the home folder of your regular login account, and then to the Public folder, where you'll find the file you copied. Try to open it in Preview. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. You can also delete the copy of the PDF.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
Slideshow project shared from iPhoto causes iDVD to crash
I've searched the forum and found a few threads that sounded like they pertained to this issue, but I didn't see much discussion beyond the question or any answers that had confirmations that they solved the problem.
I've created a slideshow project in iPhoto '08 (version 7.1.5), and I used the "Send to iDVD" option from the "Share" menu to send it to iDVD '08 (version 7.0.4). The export appears to work, a menu button appears in iDVD, and I'm able to work in iDVD to make changes to the theme, menu text, etc. However, if I try to actually view the slideshow movie in iDVD (either by double clicking on the menu button in the iDVD interface, or by using the "Preview DVD playback" button and then choosing the movie from the DVD menu), iDVD crashes. This is happening consistently. I've gone to my Movies folder and found the exported movie file that iPhoto created. This plays back in QuickTime Player just fine. If I add the movie to my iDVD project manually (as opposed to using the "Send to iDVD" option in iPhoto), it still causes iDVD to crash if I try to preview it.
Out of curiosity I brought a non-iPhoto generated QuickTime movie into iDVD, and it played back with no problem. I checked the compression format. The movie that worked was an Apple Motion JPG A movie file. I tried another non-iPhoto generated QuickTime movie file. This time iDVD crashed again. I noticed that this second non-iPhoto generated movie file said it was using the "Apple MPEG4 Decompressor" which is the same format as the movie file that iPhoto did create. I then tried an Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 QuickTime movie file and that worked just fine. Is that the problem? Apple MPEG-4 Decompressor movie files cause iDVD to crash? Could that really be possible when this is the format that iPhoto uses when exporting? Is there a solution? I don't see a way to select a different compression format when exporting/sharing a slideshow from iPhoto.
I discovered this problem while teaching a class to 12 students who don't know much about doing creative projects on a Mac. There are going to be 12 folks who don't think very much of Apple's computers and/or its software if I don't get this problem solved quickly (last day of class is tomorrow). Everything has been going along swimmingly up until this final step of getting the slideshow into iDVD and then burning it to take home. I'm stunned that this isn't working since I've never run into this problem before, but it's happening consistently with every workstation I've tried here in this lab. All computers are running iLife '08. We're all trying to do the same thing. Slideshow project created in iPhoto, trying to send it to iDVD for burning. I been doing stuff with iPhoto and iDVD for years without problems, so I didn't think I needed to run through an entire process here in this lab before teaching the class. I just expected everything to work like it always does. D'oh!
Help!UPDATE:
In case you're interested.... Just because iDVD crashes when I try to preview my slideshow movie from iPhoto doesn't mean I can't successfully burn my DVD project to disc. I was skeptical, but it works. The burn process went off without a hitch, and the DVD plays back using Mac OS X's built-in DVD Player.
Another workaround is to use the "OneStep DVD from Movie..." option in the iDVD file menu and avoid working inside of iDVD.
Someone suggested that perhaps my trouble was connected to using a legacy theme as opposed to one of the newest 7.0 themes. Any truth to that?
Just because I can burn a DVD successfully doesn't mean I wouldn't still like to fix the crash problem if possible. I'm grateful that I now know that I can work around the crashing problem, but I do think it's something that should be fixed and not just avoided. -
Addictive Drums 1.1 causes L8 to crash on Mac Mini
Hi all -- just a heads up (*although your mileage may vary) , I am a huge Addictive Drums fan/user. Yesterday I downloaded v1.1 to my Macbook Pro and Mac Mini, both of which run registered full versions of AD 1.0 in Logic 8. (Both of my Macs run Leopard).
Everything worked fine on the MacBook Pro, but AD 1.1 caused the instance of L8 on the Mini to crash in the load phase. (The error reports specifically said the crash was due to AD 1.1). At any rate, I uninstalled and reinstalled AD 1.0. Everything works fine now on the Mini, but I've no idea at this point why AD 1.1 causes L8 to crash there and not on the Macbook -- rather, based on the error report, it's a kernel issue that I'm not going to be able to figure out.
On the subject of Addictive Drums, the Retro kits (just announced) look very cool -- a John Bonham kit sampled!!! And ones used by someone named Moon, and someone named Starr.Hi guys
are you trying to open it in "Stereo" mode ?? It's a known bug in Logic and hopefully will be corrected in the next Logic update. Meanwhile just open it in multi-out version and it works -
So I finally took the plunge and updated to 8.5 from 8.2 and now when I open a project that was previously done (as in ready for release this week ) it causes a hard crash where LabVIEW closes completely. I've looked and can't seem to find any others complaining of this. My only option that works at this point is to have a coworker open all my VIs containing mathscript and delete the function with his 8.2 enviornment. What could be causing this? There has to be some simple answer...somewhere.
Thanks in advance for all the help!
Regards,
DaveThese VIs work fine for me under LV 8.2 and will no longer work under LV 8.5. The first one is a call to our power supplies, the second uses the math formula node to verify that some color and luminance parameters are valid.
In the meantime I am stuck using a coworkers 8.2 development system with TS 3.5 to deploy which works with no issues. When I try on my new system with 8.5 and TS 4.0 it crashes out.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Regards,
Dave

Nik collection plug-ins are causing aperture to crash. Please help!
Hi everyone, I am running Aperture 3.4.3 and a while back bought Nik Silver Effex 2.0.
A couple of days ago Google emailed me offering the complete Nik Collection for free.
I upgraded but since then everything has been messed up. The plug-ins all appear in aperture but when I try to load them they either fail to load or cause aperture to crash.
I have contacted Nik/Google but all of their suggestions so far have been to no avail.
Please help as I use silver effex professionally and have a job coming up soon that needs black and white edits!
I am desperate here so any help is appreciated.Nik/Google are trying to work out the issue but have never mentioned any possible compatability issues.
