Filters missing in FILTCFG following reboot

NW 6.0.5 with BM 3.7 SP2
Every time I reboot my BM 3.7 server, the filter exceptions are no longer
listed in filtcfg... I have to clean out the filters in NDS and run
filtsrv_migrate to reinstall them.
Once this procedure is done, the filters work and everything's fine, until
the next time I reboot the server, then I have to go through the entire
procedure again.
Since this server isn't getting along well with ArcServe backup, I usually
have to reboot at least once a week (soft abend), then go through the whole
procedure again...
Any ideas? I've tried using my backups of filters.cfg (just in case the
original is corrupted), but it doesn't seem to matter...
Thanks in advance,
Robert

  • Assemblies missing from GAC following reboot.

    Hi folks,
I've inheried the support of a C# .net application that uses Crystal Reports XI, and built using Visual Studio 2003.  My knowledge of Crystal Reports is limited at best so apologies for any missing info or inaccuracies.
This problem has happened a few times, and previous times I've fixed it by reinstalling the application - this isn't ideal as the web server is hosting other applications that isn't easy to take down for any length of time while I restart IIS.  The server is Windows Server 2003 SP1 and IIS version 6.0.  The application was built using the .Net framework 1.1 but other applications on the server are running on .Net framework 2.0.  I have no control over the OS or infrastructure (its supported by another contractor) so reboots can happen without any warning!
Basically anytime a reboot of the server occurs, the Crystal Report assemblies registered in the GAC seem to disappear, leading to the following error:
System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception
Is there a reasonable fix to this problem?  My client isn't satisfied with reinstalling the application anytime a reboot takes place (are they ever though!).
Does crystal reports have to be installed to the GAC at all?  I understand the use of the merge modules, but I'd prefer not to be using the GAC or registry at all.
    Any help would be great.
    Stuart.

    Hi Ludek,
The only non-windows services running on the server are two applications developed by my own development team and they don't use the GAC in any way - its company policy not to do so.
From investigating on the web, the closest possible answer is that the assemblies are still listed in the GAC but when a server runs a reboot the Autoexec.bat deletes information held in the WINDOWS/temp folder.  According the the post in the forum, crystal reports installation infromation is held in the temp folder - which if true is shocking practise!
I've tried deleting the temp folder on a VM to see what effect this would have on the application, and right enough the forms won't run anymore but the exception received is that it can't find the report.
Do you know if installation information is held in the temp folder?
    Stuart.

  • Following reboot cursor won't select anything

Wife's computer late 2006/early 2007 MacBook w/2 GB memory, OS-X10.5.8, froze on website on eBay. Had to shut down manually, after re-start message to update software appeared (MS Office for Mac 04). When she tried to download, froze again, had second manual shutdown/reboot. Following this reboot the cursor would no longer select any menu item although trackpad was working (use only trackpad, no external mouse). Could not find any way to use keyboard shortcuts or commands to select any action. Despite a number of reboots manually (only way it can be done), the MacBook only opens to the start-up desktop (which appears OK). As an oddity, sometimes following reboot, the cursor (arrow) traces a box on the desktop background as if a Word drawing rectangle had been selected. Cannot see if any programs are stuck open since cannot select a utility. My friend says it might be a bad trackpad, but it acts like a software issue. Any suggestions on how to select things with the keyboard or what might be causing this? Her MacBook is past the service contract expiry date, so hate to spend money on a tech call when the solution might be simple.

Have you been able to use the Install-Restore OS X DVD
to start the computer and run Disk Utility from there?
Also, was the MS Office for Mac actually in use at the
time of the Update dialog box, or was the urge to update
Office a random element while browsing a web page?
While some applications could suggest an update is needed,
they often require you to be running the application if it
does, and then you'd have to allow an application to check
for updates online (not something I leave on, automatic.)
Some prompts to get and install software can be bogus, and
if they appear at random while browsing, I'd never do it.
You may be able to Repair disk, from the booted Disk Utility
in the OS X install disc; you may choose to Verify it first.
If you need to use a USB wired mouse to access the computer,
to troubleshoot and attempt the most basic fixes to the OS,
that may be the best thing; at least to get an interaction,
if the trackpad does not rise to the occasion after you've
booted from the Install DVD. You can choose options in the
booted Install DVD menu bar, where Disk Utility is accessed.
And there also is a restart option where you choose to boot
from the Macintosh HD after you're done with Disk Utility.
Was the offered MS Office update one you/her had to go to
the offical Microsoft download/update page to get, or was
there a link? (I've stopped using Office, though have '04
and used to go direct to MS for any updates, to be sure.)
If you can repair whatever may be wrong via Disk Utility,
then restart the computer from its hard disk drive OS; it
may be OK. If Disk Utility can't fix it, you may have to
get a retail copy of DiskWarrior to try & fix the drive.
Depending on the age and use of the computer, a portable
may have hard disk drive wear and replacement needs at a
rate of approximately 3 to 5 years before they fail.
If you can backup the user content and projects from the
computer to an external archive (or hard disk drive) it
would be a good idea, if you don't do backups already.
The original OS X install-restore disc set has an Apple
Hardware Test on there, in the first disc; you access it
by holding the Opt key on boot, in order to choose it in
the selection device on the screen. It can run extended
tests and a few other things to check the hardware.
If the computer appears to be able to restart OK, you
may try to boot in SafeBoot mode, by holding the Shift
key down on startup and hold it until you see a start
up dialog box (to be sure it really will safeboot) and
then you can run Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions'
on the Mac HD item, when done, you can restart normally.
Not sure what is wrong with the computer, but it may be
anything from a failing hard disk drive, corruption of
the system files, some odd thing someone installed when
thinking they were installing a valid update when not,
    or maybe the hard disk drive is way too full of stuff;
and so details on the HDD's capacity vs. the contents
capacity would be good to know. An over-full drive can
be a real problem since the OS and Apps live there, too.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Filters missing

Reloaded Leopard due to another issue. Motion opens with most everything in tact except when I try to open a template, a window pops up stating that there are several filters missing. It list the filters but does not allow me to reconnect to them.
    What happened?

Yeah, just had the same thing happen after migrating to a Leopard partition. One earlier thread suggested a reformat and reinstall:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3900068
However a later discussion seems to point the finger at a case-sensitive volume causing troubles. Unfortunately, my volume is NOT case sensitive, so I don't see how that would fix the problem.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5527981
Interestingly, if I leave my old Tiger partition mounted and run Motion off of that, then the filters reappear. Yuck!

  • My iPhoto 11 is missing several events following last import, however I can see the missing events using Aperature.

Hi I'm missing several events in my iPhoto library following my last import.  If I open up Aperature to access the library I see all of my events, does this mean my library is corrupt?  I've already tried repairing the iphoto database, rebuilding the thumbnails, and rebuilding permission all without success.  My last option is rebuild the database.  Has anyone seen this issue?

I don't use Aperture so don't know how it works in relation to viewing the same library as iPhoto.  There may be some cache that Aperture is viewing.
    You can also try this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Missing kernel symlink following upgrade? [SOLVED]

I just updated my system and went to change my /boot/grub/menu.lst to point to the new kernel images rather than the symlinks.
following that I went to remove the symlinks but found that there wasn't one for the vmlinuz image (just the ramdisk ones)
obviously this hasn't caused me any problems because I edited my bootloader before rebooting but I was wondering if this were the case for others who upgraded or it was some weird quirk on my system?
Obviously if it's a bug it's pretty important but just wanted to check that I'm not missing something obvious? anyone else had this issue?

  • Registry settings problem...upper and lower filters missing!?

    Hi there.
I'm experiencing what seems to be a common problem - missing registry files for burning CDs in itunes. The warning dialog box comes up when i load itunes.
I have the current version of itunes.
My driver's firmware is up to date.
I found and then began to follow the matching support instructions for this problem at the following page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2372
when I got to step 11 and the lower filter was missing, I didn't worry too much...but then I went to the next step and found that I don't have the upper filters either!
So now I have to solve this second problem first before I can tackle the first...any help would be very much appreciated.
    cheers, justin.

Someone posted this on missing the upper filter entry recently:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8138108#8138108
I haven't tried it myself and be careful if you decide to try it as it involves editing the registry.

  • TS3704 Trying to delete I Tunes because of missing MSVCR80.dll followed instructions from Apple to delete - Apple Mobile Device support keeps coming up its being used I have gone to program files deleted what I can from folder but left with 3 files

I have been getting the MSVCR80.dll missing message.
Been on the Apple site and following instruction.
Going down the list has instructed I have Deleted I Tunes.
    Deleted Apple Software Update
But when I try to delete Apple Mobile device it wouldn't delete so went into program files has the instructions say by going to Program Files\common Files\Apple\Apple Mobile Device Support Folder.
It still wouldn't delete saying it was being used.
I opened the file and highlighted all the folders and pressed delete, most of them have disapeared into my recycle bin but the folder still holds AppleMobileService, AppleMobileDeviceService_main.dll and MobileDevice.dll.
Message when I right click the first file is AppleMobileService I am told this action can't be completed because file is open in Apple Mobile Device. Close and Try again.
When I click the next file AppleMobileDeviceService_main dll it says  It comes up with This action cannot be completed and File description Apple Mobile Device Service. Company Apple Inc. File Version 17.323.0.9 Date Created 7/9/2013. Try again...... and finally  MobileDevice.dll come up with same message but file version 710.0.0.4 Date Created 7/9/2013 Size 902KB Both say Try Again but the same thing just recurred.
I have left my lap top on hoping that I a swift reply.
I am certainly no computer wizard and simply trying to follow the instructions to get rid of the box which keep coming up everytime I switch the lap top on saying APS Daemon.exe-System Error. The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  I had looked at the internet and there appears to be warnings not to click on the button.
I have had an apdate from Apple for the I Tunes but it wouldn't update. I thought that may have sorted it so whilst I had a few hours I thought I would go through the process that is advised on Apple's website.
I hope I have not ruined my computer. I haven't even tried deleting Bonjour or Apple Application Support (I Tunes 9 or later) has these are supposed to come after the step I am on.
    Please HELP!!!!!

  • Sysprep and Windows 8.1 -- missing Metro apps after reboot?

So, I'm trying to figure out an issue with Sysprep and a clean-install Windows 8.1 64 Enterprise system:
When I sysprep the computer from my admin account with my unattend.xml file, when it reboots, I'm only getting 7 Metro apps at the start screen and
14 Metro Apps at the "all apps" screen -- things like Weather, Maps, Calendar, Mail, etc are missing -- and actually look like they aren't installed
as searching for something like "People" -- gives no results.
From what I've been able to gather, the behavior of the start screen should controlled by an appsFolderLayout.bin file, but when I first set up the initial
account (not "administrator", but the initial local admin account), that file does not exist anywhere.
I've tried creating the file manually by running:
    Export-StartLayout -As Bin -Path C:\Temp\appsFolderLayout.bin
and either putting it in \Users\<myadminaccount>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
    or \Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
and sysprepping again (after restoring a snapshot to the pre-sysprep/post-clean install state), but this isn’t making any difference.
When I run sysprep /generalize — the .bin file is deleted and replaced by some other default one — that I’m not sure where it is generated from.
Does anybody have any suggestions here?    Windows 8.0 just worked with my unattend.xml file without having to mess with appsFolderLayout.bin, so I’m not sure what I’m missing.
    Thanks!

If you are still having trouble, this is an outline of the full process I use that seems to be consistently producing good results:
    - Install Windows 8.1 Enterprise with autounattend.xml, in particular, blank administrator password, add user account test, auto-logon as Administrator, run "net user test /delete" immediately after logon to get back to just having the administrator account.
There should be no reason why all that has to be done in autounattend.xml, but it is the way I do it. There are a few other mandatory settings if you want a fully-automated setup.
    - At this point in time the Administrator account only shows a few tiles on the start screen, all actions are performed using the Administrator account.
    - Run Schtasks.exe /change /disable /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\AppxDeploymentClient\Pre-staged app cleanup" before the task has had a chance to run.
    - Install all applications, updates and settings as you want.
    - Run Sysprep, in particular blank administrator password, add user account test, auto-logon as Administrator, run "net user test /delete" immediately after logon to get back to just having the administrator account. Also importantly we set CopyProfile to
false under Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup specialize pass. I don't know because I haven't tried it, but I imagine that if you run this and copy the Administrator profile to the default user profile then the default user profile may be missing some apps. We
do all customization of the default user profile explicitly by loading the registry hive and editing it directly.
After the image is deployed the Admistrator account has all the standard tiles present, but two of them report errors (I think it is Music and Videos). Any other profiles have all tiles present and all apps work.
The full sysprep XML is included below in case it is useful to anybody. The company-specific settings and passwords have been blanked out, but otherwise it is the full one we use and fairly generic apart from the Australian settings. Note that this one is
    for a 64-bit image.

  • Sent emails are missing from Thunderbird following migration from alternative email client and import of emails

All sent emails are missing from the Thunderbird 'Sent' folder following import, but Sent folder still shows a count of the imported emails (Thunderbird considered them to be unread when importing them, hence the count). The messages are also visible online (BT Internet email) and on other devices (Android running BlueMail). Settings are set to place copies of sent items into Sent folder. Having imported all my old email, I can send email but again they do not appear in the Sent folder (but do appear online and on other devices). I have tried compacting the Sent folder and i have tried repairing the folder. All other folders (Inbox, other newly created folders) show the email i have imported.
If I move an email online from the Sent folder to another test folder, it syncs and appears in Thunderbird in that test folder. If I then use Thunderbird to move the email back from that test folder to the Sent folder then Thunderbird will do so, but locks up for a good minute or so while doing that.
Running TB 24.6.0 on Windows 8.1, incoming server set to IMAP on mail.btinternet.com (port 993), outgoing server set to SMTP on mail.btinternet.com (port 465).
    Help gratefully received!

    Cheers for that, Mulder.
It did seem to recover some emails which had disappeared from Mail, but not all of them. That's the frustrating thing - short of going through my Yahoo webmail accounts and logging every single email, and then cross-referencing with what's on my desktop, I just can't be sure what's there and what's not!
Sometimes it's immediately clear that something is awry - the folder I use for emails from my girlfriend is completely empty, for instance, when I definitely had things in there before the weekend. (Yes, again I went away for the weekend, with the computer still running - and Mail on - and again I returned to discover emails missing.
    Arrgh!

  • Mailbox folders are missing, like priority, follow up, etc.  How do I get them back?

All of my personal mailbox folders are missing like follow up, priorities, reservations, online receipts, etc.  How do I get them back?  I did soft reset but it did not resolve the problem.  I recently updated the software but that was about a week ago.   This just happened a day ago.  Any help would be so appreciated.
    THanks!
    Lori

I think that Dominic is giving a suggestion for the mail application on a Mac computer, not an iPad.
If you had additional mailboxes on the iPad, that means that your email account is IMAP and the mailboxes should sync across devices. Are the mailboxes/folders still in existence when you log into your email account in a web browser? If they era still there, then they should sync to the iPad and yo all of your other devices.
Try closing mail completely and reset your iPad. Then see if they reappear.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • SVG Default filters missing from drop down in cs5

    Hello,
I’m new to using Illustrator and am just learning my way around the effects. I used the svg filter on another project, but when i tried to open them in the drop down menu the only options are to apply or import now. Where did the default set go?

You have probably opened an SVG file which is having no filter applied on any object in the document and it was saved from Ai without Illustrator Editing capabilities or any other application, that is the reason why no default SVG filter is listed in your dropdown.
The concept is, default SVG filters in the dropdown are picked up dynamically at the Document creation time from the file placed at following location:
    Win : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Support Files\Required\Resources\en_US\Adobe SVG Filters.svg
    Mac : /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Adobe Illustrator.app/Required/Resources/en_US/Adobe SVG Filters.svg
I case you add another SVG filter (your own written filter code) to this file, it will also be picked up at the time of document creation in the drop down.
If you save an SVG file through Ai with objects having SVG filters applied to it, only those filters which were applied to the object in that particular document would populate on opening the SVG File in the SVG Filters Menu.
In case you want all the default SVG filter available in your dropdown you will have to save the document with Illustrator Editing capabilities Preserved. It is a check Box in the SVG Save options Dialog.

  • My Tabs and Grouped Tabs were lost following reboot and not restored via History.

I closed Firefox properly and rebooted my computer. When I restarted Firefox, instead of seeing the tabs from the previous session, a window with the message that Video DownloadHelper (add on) Update 4.9.6 had been applied, and the other tabs in the open window were what appear to be my default set stored as my Home Page. All of the previous tabs and the grouped tabs that I was using (and would very much like to have back) were gone. I tried to use History>Restore Previous Session, but it was grayed out so I thought to look again and try History>Recently Closed Windows, but there was nothing available to restore either.

Step 1 would be to salvage your sessionstore files and make backup copies before exiting Firefox or making any other changes.
Open your active Firefox profile folder (personal settings folder) using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Copy all files that start with sessionstore to a safe location such as your documents folder.
If you have not exited Firefox since this happened, try the History menu to re-open closed windows ("Previously closed windows") and within each window, to re-open closed tabs ("Previously closed tabs"). Can you get them back??
Unfortunately, by default, Firefox only stores 10 "Previously closed tabs" per window and 3 "Previously closed windows." You can find these lists on the History menu. This might be enough for most occasions, but you can increase the number stored.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo''' preference and enter your preferred number of windows (I have 10).
    (4) Double-click the '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' preference and enter your preferred number of tabs (I have 20).
If you exited Firefox after the tabs were closed, does the sessionstore.bak file have a promising date/time stamp around that time? If you have exited and restarted Firefox multiple times, it's probably no longer possible to recover the old session data. Following a system freeze-up (happened while browsing with Safari) with Aperture 3.5.1 open and a forced shut-down, my Aperture library got messed up. Aperture suggested to rebuild the database and I did. After two or three rebuilds (all by Aperture's advice), there's no visible previews/photos in the library. The library listing is right, with all folders, projects and so on in place. But no visible photos. Only empty frames. When I click on a project or folder, my Qnap NAS drive (I have the complete Aperture library on it) sounds and behaves as if it searches and finds the photos, but Aperture shows nothing. It's as if the previews have gone missing. My library, when asked to show the content in the folder from finder, seems complete. Any ideas, anyone?

Can I just import this complete library to Aperture again, and everything is back to normal?
If you have a backup of your Aperture library, copy it to a directly connected external drive with the correct formatting (MacOS Extended (Journaled)) and open it in Aperture. (see: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library)
Importing is not necessary, since it is already an Aperture library.

  • Photoshop Filters Missing when exporting to PS

Hi all, when using the 'open with external editor' function with Photoshop CS3 i don't seem to have access to all of the filters for some reason. Several menu's are missing, artistic, brush strokes etc.
    Any Ideas?

Got it, you need to convert the PSD to 8-bit.
    Cheers
