Filters to broadcast video

I'm trying to export an animation that uses the blur filter
for a motion blur effect and I can't find a simple way to do this.
The blur is especially useful but when I export to Quicktime it can
only use an old Flash Player that doesn't support the new effects.
Any suggestions, I can imagine a few workarounds but it seems to
defeat the usefullness of these features for anyone useing flash in
a video environment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
thanks.

this is exactly been what I have been wishing flash was
capable of - exporting movie clip animations
to video format - it can't and that means any filters applied
will be lost also.

  • IIS7 configuration, blocked broadcast video stream from third party host

I have a client that recently replaced a windows server 2003 with windows server 2008 R2 as their webserver.  This was a big change to IIS7.  An application that I developed for them has stopped working and I believe this is related to the IIS7
configuration.  The application uses SilverLight technology to display a broadcast video along with some powerpoint slides.
Here is the URL going to the server from a link on an html page.
    http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/sctr01/0/start.html?media=http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/unit2.asx
The iiscast.wlf.org is the public name for the IIS server.  When we click on the link it does properly display the start.html content but fails to connect to the video stream.  The video stream is hosted by a third party and the contents of the
unit2.asx file has the url for that video stream.  When a put the
http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/unit2.asx portion in IE it does properly display the video stream on mediaplayer.   All this worked prior to moving to the new server.   When I use F12 in IE to debug this, I see a brief message appear
in the debugger that it is opening unit2.asx.  After that the debugging is very limited except I know I’m getting an exception in the silverlight and the video doesn’t display.   Other similar Silverlight apps on the same server that display
    archived video are working.
Here is the content of unit2.asx
    <asx version = "3.0">
      <Title>Unit2 Bdct</Title>
      <entry>
        <ref href = "http://easylink.playstream.com/winlive/wlforg2.wvx"/>
      </entry>
    </asx>
Playstream is a video stream hosting company.  When someone links to them, it pulls the video stream from my clients media server broadcast point.
wlforg2.wvx contains the link back to the media server broadcast point at my client.
We have a lot of connections going on but keeping in mind that  http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/unit2.asx will display the video and
    http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/sctr01/0/start.html?media=http://iiscast.wlf.org/vod/broadcast/unit2.asx
Is not displaying the video although all this worked on the old server.
My guess is that something in the IIS7 is blocking this process.
FYI the old server completely died so I can’t look into its configuration which was done in 2004 by someone else.

This was entered in the iis.net forum as suggested.  The problem has been resolved.  The hosting service determined they had an edge server that was faulting.  Their edge servers were automatically assigned by geography which meant
that depending on how/where we accessed the system for troubleshooting we used a different edge server.  Hence some tests always failed and others always passed.  FYI the hosting service had this problem for over a month and did not detect it
themselves.  Fortunately we connected with a dedicated service technician late on a Saturday night and he figured it out.

  • Problem with broadcasting video via Skype?

I have a new 11 inch MBA and logged into a Skype session and got audio, though it would not broadcast video of me. I logged out and logged back into a new session with the same result, I had to enter a Skype session with my Macbook Pro because it wouldn't work.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rusbug,
I am having the same issue with my iPod Classic 160gb not playing video on the TV via Composite cable as you posted in march!
did you get a solution for the issue??
desperate to know what to do next.
    thanks

  • Stagebox camera converter and Typhoon Ingest Card lower broadcast video production costs with Ethernet

The broadcast video market is in a transition period between the use of proprietary broadcast-specific networks and Ethernet. The proprietary broadcast video network protocols came into existence because, at the time, Ethernet speeds and standards were not up to the demands of live video production. Now they are. Ethernet-based broadcast networks promise to reduce video production costs by allowing the use of standard Ethernet cabling and switches to ship video from multiple cameras at an event to the production and editing suite. But there’s plenty of equipment already in the field that uses the older broadcast video network standards. Two new products developed by Xilinx Premier Alliance Member CoreEL in conjunction with BBC R&D can adapt existing broadcast equipment to Ethernet networks specifically for venues such as small- and medium-scale sporting events and multi-location live events (like elections).

I haven't the faintest idea. I only use DV, HDV and XDCAM-EX/HD and have never tried it with any (RED) 4K material. I assume it should be sufficient to handle that. But let's be honest, when I increased my raid array from 10 to 12 disks, I did not notice ANY performance gains. The limiting factor must be the PCI-e bus or the Areca controller, that just does not show any improvements from adding a couple of disks. Another thing to consider is that the various benchmark programs widely in use show quite different results.
As an example, here are two images from HD Tune Pro, one for my 2 disk raid0 on the Marvell chip and the other from my 12 disk raid30 array. First of all, HD Tune shows the wrong size, it is not 2199 GB but should be 10000 GB (at least that is what Areca claims as shown in the last picture), second it ONLY performs at around 745 MB/s transfer rate.
The most noteworthy item to look at is the rapid performance degradation of this raid0 when the disks get fuller. An average transfer rate of 165 MB/s is quite acceptable for a 2 disk setup, but seeing it go down to below 100 MB/s when the disks fill up is bothersome. It will not allow you to handle uncompressed HD at all.

  • Cannot broadcast video- cam settings panel unresponsive- OSX 10.4.11

    Aloha,
I have a Mac G4, DP 1Gb Power PC computer running OSX 10.4.11. About a week ago I tried to connect to a video chat room, which I had visited many times before and used successfully for the past couple of years. When the site asked for access to my cam - to accept or deny access - the camera settings dialogue box was unresponsive. I tried a couple of other sites as well and the same thing happened: the camera settings box appeared, but didn't work.
At that time I was running a slightly older version of Flash, so I decided to uninstall it and install the latest version: MAC 10,1,102,64. I did that, and tried again to broadcast and the same thing happens. TheTroubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS page confirms that it is installed properly and detects the new version,
When i go to http://www.testwebcam.com/ the Adobe Flash Player Settings box shows up at the top of the page. If I click "Allow" or "Deny" nothing happens.
I spent hours looking around the support area and have found no answers, nor was live support helpful except for  suggesting that I go to this forum. Can anyone please help me?

Hi, Since I don't use cameras nor chat rooms, the only thing I have on this would be the following. This was posted by another user with a PC as far as I know.
Well, I finally got my problem fixed.  My camera is now working in chat rooms.
    Thanks for all input!
Seems as if all camera settings are stored on Adobe's Flash web site:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager.html
Here you must set your camera settings - especially Website Privacy Settings panel
    and Peer-Assisted Networking Panel
    One must visit:
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager.html
For each and every browser they use.
Hope that is helpful, if not, then perhaps someone will post that has more information for you.

  • Broadcast Video Solution via Optical

I was advised of an application that is for broadcast quality video leaving the US bound for Canada. They have OC-48 hubs around the US in NYC, Seattle, LA and maybe Chicago. They need to equip the Hubs with L2 & L3 devices. What Cisco device would one recommend as switch/router to support this application?

There are a wide range of devices that you could consider. It would depend on your requirement and the cost. I would suggest that you go in for modular routers so that you can add modules based on your needs at any point of time. Some switches can also perform L3 functions and would be a good choice. You can take a look at the products and also the various solutions available by clicking the products and solutions tab on the cisco homepage.

  • Skype cant broadcast video, but I it shows in the options?

Basically, in the Skype Options -> Video settings, it shows /dev/video0 and displays my face. I have cheese installed and it works fine there aswell.
But when I am in a call with friends, I get a greyed out turn on video icon and cannot see screenshares, or their webcam broadcasts. Apparently it says I am using an outdated version of skype to them.
They are all on windows 8. Has anyone had this problem?

Can you attempt to call the Skype Call Test Service and display video and report the results? I cannot even seem to do that.

  • Best compression for broadcast video

    Hi
I need to compress a very short piece for broadcast (5 sec, no audio). What is the best compression to keep it around 25Mb?

It should be. 5 seconds at DV should be 125MB.
If you have to get under 25MB, then I'd suggest getting into h.264. It should give you a very good output at 25MB, though of course not the same as DV.
If you do use a different coded make sure to do it from a QT reference movie so your material doesn't get an extra DV compression.

  • Streaming Live Broadcast Video, help!

I was going to use Media Encoder to generate FLV files, and hoping to build an AIR app in Flash.
The end result is a very simple and basic app where you select between 4 or 5 streams of live video.
I'm talking basic beyond basic for the user. I've got a flash server and tons of bandwidth, and hoping
to do this in a 720x486 frame size. I'm down with the basics of Flash, but no experience in doing Air Apps.
Thoughts on the plan of attack?

i would suggest in buying/trying Flex Builder 3
Air has never been simpler, once you master the GUI of flex, you can create your applications in air/web alike with ease.
I myself use flex builder daily for my needs, it takes some getting used to, but basically what you get with flex (unless youre already familiar) is a developer-friendly interface with a wysiwyg GUI editor, along with AS3 scripting functionality.
Thats the best bet, also, a book about Flex couldnt hurt, but there are tons of online resources available for this.
(as an example, i ported a quite complex people and content application i made for the web, into air, in about 2 minutes).

  • Adobe Flash Reversed to Broadcast Live Video without a Webcam

This is all true and is happening now.
I had heard that someone had taken Adobe Flash to new limits, albeit surreptitiously, was able to remotely activate your webcam without indicator lights revealing the clandestine activity. I unashamedly hold an objection to the commercial use of personal and private information to gain revenue via direct marketing or by on selling said information and an even greater objection to government agencies collecting and using personal and private information to build dossiers on the very same citizens that governments are elected to protect and serve for the purpose of political influence, persuasion, terror or torture. The only thing worse than either of these two scenarios is tendered government contracts for the collection of personal and private data or buying directly from a commercial entity that have collected data on individuals.
When I heard that remote activation of a webcam was possible, I took measures to counter this threat by personally managing the Flash settings in the web browser, ensuring the browser settings always matched the Adobe Flash settings for use in Google Chrome, either by selecting "ask before allowing website to access camera" or outright "deny access to camera" and deleting the "exceptions" for that particular website or all sites. To be absolutely certain of my privacy I added the auld low tech safety net which I was certain could not fail, a strip of gaffer or "duck" tape over the lens of the webcam. Occasionally I would also turn the inbuilt mic off for added piece of mind. I thought myself that perhaps I was being a little paranoid until recently when I began to suspect that I was being observed when I would enter a chat room. A look of surprise or a generous smile from the host would greet me upon my arrival, priding myself in the most basic of social etiquettes, good manners, I would always respond with a nod or returning the gesture in kind. However, this is where I became confused because the hosts were always reluctant to confirm this was happening when asked directly, or made an effort not to acknowledge my presence again, which in my eyes, is an admission of guilt.
When I put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid evening last, the unusual and rare combination of hardware and software failure occurred activating the log on screen on the external monitor. Secure in the knowledge that the lid of the laptop was closed, a piece of black gaffer tape adhered to the webcam, I knew I would not get a better opportunity to prove my suspicion that Adobe Flash has been re-coded to not only play live video but to capture and broadcast it as well. I entered the chat room and sure enough an acknowledgement from the host was immediately forthcoming. A moment of divine intervention allowed a conversation to evolve where upon I revealed that my webcam had been disabled and my monitor was acting as the only capture device. Having now confirmed my suspicion that my monitor, not the webcam was broadcasting video, I set about collecting additional evidence and to make the case rock solid,  enlisted an independent witness at my end to find on this verdict beyond reasonable doubt.
My unsupported theory is that, if this technology has indeed been developed legitimately, it has been done so for the purpose of Windows 8, because although this computer is running Win7 Pro it originally came with Windows 8 but as I had ordered the computer with Windows 7 Pro, I sent it back to HP and they returned it with Windows 7 installed.  I have been informed by my I.T guy that Windows 8 has new hardware configurations that are specifically designed for the Win 8 platform.

  • How do I apply Smart Filters to video layers?

Hello! This is my first time making an animated GIF in Photoshop, so I'm a little frustrated. I've looked all over the web and on the Adobe site on how to apply filters throughout all video layers. All resources tell me to "convert the video layer into a Smart Object and apply filters, which will carry throughout the other layers." I open up my GIF file and convert my very first layer/frame into a Smart Object and apply my Reduce Noise filter; when I do this, the filter only applies to the first layer/frame and not for the other 187 layers/frames. Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong?

put levels on which you want to apply the filter, you will see them in the time line as a group ten apply filter, you can also adgust them all in time line...

  • Video "finishing"

Are these the steps involved in what is called "finishing" or have I got it wrong? Anything not mentioned here?
    color-correct for broadcast safety
    review/QC video for drop-outs & artifacts
switch from low-res "offline" editing to high-res "online"
What about applying filters to "stylize" video for subjective, non-technical reasons ... after the editing work is done? Is that considered finishing or not?

Those are some of the steps in post production but the list is not complete and yours is not in a standard sequence. IN fact, there is no complete list or standardized order. Finishing video is job-specific and output-specific. Every producer has her own idea of what those steps are; every editor has to be flexible enough to deal with the boss's list. Your effects house, your photographers, and your finishing house all have their own workflows and procedures. You just edit.
    color-correct for broadcast safety
This is best handled while shooting, use a light meter, know how your camera functions, know the limitations of your format and codec. "Color-grading" is another topic all together.
    review/QC video for drop-outs & artifacts
Dropouts are on the tapes, you will know about them while you're capturing. "Artifact" is too subjective to define. Your artifact is my dropout. My artifact is your quantization error.
switch from low-res "offline" editing to high-res "online"
All depends on when you think your edit is locked. Not your decision, usually, in a production where "finishing" is part of the lexicon.
What about applying filters to "stylize" video for subjective, non-technical reasons ... after the editing work is done? Is that considered finishing or not?
That's not finishing, that's editing. Stylization is the decision of the director.
Do yourself a huge favor and invest in a few books on filmmaking. Your local library probably has several.
