Filters won't work in CS6

Hello -
I would be grateful if someone can help me...
In CS6 (Windows 7), I am trying to add filter effects like the Radial Blur....I have created a new layer, applied the effect (the filters are not greyed out like I've heard others complain about)...but no effect is ultimately applied.
I even get the dialog box where I chose the center point, etc, so it seems everything is OK up until I press "OK" to apply the effect.
I also tried the other filters and I get the same (lack of) result.
I tried a Red Giant external plug-in in the same menu, and that worked fine.
I read somewhere that I need to make sure my file was RGB, which it is.
I am using Photoshop CS6 via Adobe Lightroom 5.3.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot? Thank you!!!

Yes, all my channels are active...and my image is RGB / 16 bit.
BUT, after further testing, I was able to view the filter effects if I did NOT apply another filter first.
For example, On duplicate layer #1, I succesffully created a lighting effect via Red Giant Knoll Light Effects. I can see the effect.
On duplicate layer #2, I made a radiant blur effect with the built-in PS blur filter. However, this one is NOT visible. HOWEVER, if hide (or turn off visibility) of each of the effect layers, i can see the other effect.
It seams like I need to make the layers transparent somehow, so that both show through the other.....it's almost like the 1st effect is blocking visbility of the other. Does that make sense?
One option is for me to combine the main backgound layer with one of the effects, but then I lose the ability to adjust that layer every again.

Help! - Filters Won't Work!

Hello!
I want to apply the photocopy filter on some of my pictures to create a mock coloring book.
It worked great on the first photo. However, now every photo just turns out all white. I even tried going back and redoing the first photo and that won't work now! I can't figure it out. Some of the other filters are having the same problem.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Trashing the prefs will fix it, but a simpler fix for some "filters won't work" problems may just require hitting the "D" key to reset the foreground/background colors.

PopupMenu won't work in CS6 on Mac

Hi Everyone,
We use PopupMenu to show context menu, but it won't work anymore in Dreeamweaver CS6 on Mac.
The symptom is when you click a menu item from popup menu, there is no value to return but it works fine in CS5.5 (both Mac and Windows).

PopupMenu looks like a native control shipped with Dreamweaver, my question is who knows what happened to this control.

I have just installed newblue filters and they don't work. Not only that but now none of my filters will work. Can anyone help. Norman

Seems obvious that you must delete them but I'm curious why you didn't ask the publisher of the filter why they don't work. Rather like asking a Word perfect user group why the spell checker in WordStar doesn't work.

Filters Won't Work in CS3 - Get "file system I/O error" message

Using CS3 on Mac G5, OS 10.4, and some Photoshop filters (e.g. Liquify) won't open, getting the message: "A file system I/O error has occurred."
Some filters do open, but others fail.
Have tried reinstalling CS3, trashing preferences, unlocked permissions - no help.
Any suggestions?

The very instant you create a new document or open an existing image file, Photoshop creates a Scratch Disk to use as virtual memory, regardless of how much RAM you have installed. This scratch disk is created on whichever drive you have designated as your PRIMARY disk drive. If it happens to be on your boot drive, i.e. the drive where your OS (Operating System) resides, it will be competing with the OS swap file for use of the one read head on that disk. Very bad for performance.
Ideally, it should be a dedicated, separate internal hard drive, Figure on at least 35 times or more the size of your largest file for scratch. I keep a dedicated 160GB internal drive as my primary scratch disk.
You should not be running a G5 with less than 4GB of installed RAM. 512 MB would be ludicrous, but even 1GB is pathetic little RAM.
I agree that your hard drive sounds like it's going south. Get two new, large hard drives, at least 250GB each.

Photoshop cs6 won't work because of creative cloud

Hi everyone,
I bought indesign on february 2nd, and now my old photoshop won't work. I had photoshop CS6. They will not help me in chat and I cannot figure it out. I know there is a way to go into my desktop applications and change some code thing because this has happened before, but clearly I am totally clueless. Any assistance helps. Thanks.

Check your CS6 version. Creative cloud may have updated your CS6 to subscription version CS6 version 13.1.2. Where the Perpetual versions of CS6 are Mac version 13.0./6 Windows version 13.0.1.3 there are some differences between these versions.

After Effects Cs6 Installation Won't Work!

Im am trying to install after effects cs6 but it keeps stopping a 2% and has all these things to make it work, i do everything it says (ive done it about 7 times) and it Still won't work! someone please help!

Please follow the following steps :
1. Disable the startup services : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html
2. Use the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool from the below link and try uninstall all the CS6 application.

3. After using the cleaner tool, please rename the following folders located at the below location :
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
if you use 32 bit system it would be C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
Rename the following folders ;
Adobe PCD -> Adobe PCDold
backup -> backupold
caps -> capsold
Then run the setup file again.

Keyboard Shortcuts in PSExtended CS6 won't work - why?

Hi, any idea why lots of my shortcuts won't work or very little shortcuts are registered in my keyboard shortcut menu and when you use them they seem to be mixed up. Pls help.....

thanks for the list of all shortcut keys -
exemple for MixUp: I click Shift+F5 in order to get the unsharp mask and end up with the Fill window...
Most of the simple shortcut work just fine - and now I have even figured out how to add my own shortcuts to the list So I might be even able to fix my MIXUP......

I'm installing my CS6 download, and my Serial# won't work

It tells me that it's a valid serial number but not for any products I have on my system.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop and am reinstalling my programs. I'm having all kinds of trouble with the Adobe CS stuff. I have the CS 5.5 DVD and downloaded my CS 6 upgrade, and I have had to install trial versions because the serial number won't work.

If you have trial versions installed, your serial number can be used to convert them to fully activated versions

ITunes asking for reinstall and still won't work with win 7?

Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on new unwritten hard drive, when I try and open iTunes I get the message that some registry files are not available, the ones that itunes uses for CD burning/playing, please reinstall iTunes. I have done this over and over and it makes no difference. iTunes will open but I cannot play anything and the speakers are working fine. I spent a couple hours with HP chat last night because my CD/DVD writer had error issues, and the gentleman from HP helped me to edit the upper and lower filters so that my CD player would be recognized by windows 7 and work, now iTunes won't work. I'm completely baffled because I have the same Windows 7 OS on another computer and iTunes works fine with that one. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Cindy

why wont my .vst plugins work on my new os ,win 7 pro 64 bit, i have cs6 and cc installed, they worked fine when it was on xp pro.. even if it finds them and you can bring them up it crashes cs6, any advice is helpful, thanks!!

It's not the OS - W764Pro can run 32-bit software fine in emulation. Your problem is that there is no 32-bit version of CC. It was widely circulated before release that this was going to be 64-bit only, and that you would need bridging software to run old 32-bit VST plugins.
Apparently, jbridge works fine once you've got it installed and everything in the correct place. I wouldn't know though, because I don't use it - I only use a small number of 64-bit plugins directly. On those few occasions that I want to use a 32-bit plugin, I run it in CS6 Audition (which isn't the CC version, but is 32-bit). So yes, if you have the 32-bit program you can run them in that. Both versions of the software will co-exist quite happily on the same machine, and won't interact at all - except that you have to be careful with your sound device settings.

Acrobat X XI Windows 7 just won't work

I don't know if this is the appropriate place for this question, there doesn't seem to be much of an altenrative.
I attempted to use a trial of acrobat x pro some months back but was not able to get the product to work no matter what I tried (installing reinstalling etc etc ad nauseum)
Acrobat 9 works fine without any issues.
Acrobat X will not work
Today I've tried xi pro - I thought great, maybe it has been fixed; however, I have the same kinds of issues. All the program dialogue boxes are misshapen, bits are missing and I have to resort to task manager to shut them down as they won't otherwise. There's also weird looking - big, misshapen text that has 'crossed out' lines through it - one lot mentioned security certificates.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the kind of dialogue box I get.
I'm using CS6 as a trial, though I've purchased the PS subscription.
I'm using windows 7 64 bit
I plan to purchase the full CS6 next year as a student, but theres not much point if it won't work,,,
I'd love a solution to this.

Hyperlinks won't work when copied from h to v layout

hi there, just created a dps folio with lots of hyperlinks (InDesign CS6 everything updated to the latest version).
First in the h version I put a rectangle above the piece of content I wish to be clickable, choose 'hyperlinks' and put the link in it then inside the folio overlays I make sure 'open in folio' is selected. Second I copied the rectangle to the v version of the layout, resize it so it's covering the right content. Inside the hyperlinks panel I'll find the links, sometimes when the rectangle is selected the link shows up darkened, but most of the time when I select the copied rectangle nothing changes inside the hyperlinks-links panel. In that case I selected the rectangle and clicked again on the hyperlink so I think it's 'bind' again.
Testing the folio on the iPad everything works fine in the horizontal version, but when i try the vertical pages not 1 link is working.
When re-ensure the hyperlinks are present in the v version, I noticed that clicking on the rectangles some of them do not highlight any hyperlink but others do and none of both work on the iPad. Strange is also when I click a rectangle who does not highlight any hyperlink and I then select (apply??) the hyperlink inside the hyperlinks panel to 'bind' both together the document would not let me save the document as if there's nothing changed on it..
Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong?
any hints and tips welcome ;-)
I've just deleted the hyperlinks overlays and tried with buttons overlay and 'go to url'. That seems to works on both direction.

I do not manage the group policy and I'll have it checked. One question though, if it is the policy then would it not affect Excel 2003 as well. When I use Excel 2003, I see buttons in toolbar, using which I convert excel file to pdf and first thing it does is scans for various things ( Hyperlinks is one of them ).
When I tried with excel 2007, I can convert excel file to PDF by selecting print option and selecting Adobe there. It converts the file but the hyper links won't work.
One thing I noticed that using the pdf conversion buttons in toolbar in excel will convert hyperlinks too.
My problem here is that I do not see Adobe Acrobat converstion buttons in Excel 2007.
