FIM Service installation ended prematurely

Hi all,
Im trying to install FIM 2010 R2. The sync service and portal are not a problem, but when I want to install the service, it fails. I fill in all the required information and press the "install" button. It starts installing, but when the "copying new files"
appears, the statusbar stops around 90%, and start to Roll back and the installation failes.
I tried installing with verbose logging which gives me the following(don't know if this has anything to do with it tbh):

  • FIM Service and Portal Installation Ends Prematurely

    Hello All,
I'm in the process of setting up a new production FIM 2010 R2 server. I have already installed the FIM synchronization service and I was able to install this successfully.
I have already installed SharePoint services (WSS 3.0) and configured it for FIM. But when I try to install the FIM Service and Portal.
I keep getting and error that says " FIM Service and Portal Installation Ends Prematurely" with no other details. If anybody has any advice please let me know.
I have already installed everything on a stand alone box in a dev environment and it all works correctly however I am unable to now install in a production environment

Cameron is right - you should consider FIMService account nearly as normal AD account for user*
An installer account should be admin on the box, where you are installing FIMService and he should be sysadmin on SQL during installation of FIMService. An installer account should be other than FIMService account itself.
    *FIMService account:
    Lock down the Service Account
The service account should not be used by any other services or users. The account must not be used to logon interactively and requires no access to any additional resources beyond those granted during setup. The service account is used to provide the security
context for the MIIS service as it accesses resources on the MIIS server and the associated database. It also provides the security context for the execution of any rules extensions.
Lock down the service account to ensure no malicious user is able to sign in using its credentials and gain access to MIIS data. Configure Group Policies to lock down the account and restrict access to this account. Since the MIIS service only needs the account
to run as a service, restrict the account as follows:
Deny logon as a batch job.
    Deny logon locally.
    Deny logon through Terminal Services.
Deny access to this computer from the network.

  • Installation ended prematurely because of an error.

    Hi There,
could need a bit of insight. I am trying to update my XI 3.1 installl with SP2.3. SP2 installed ok but installing FP1, 2, or 3 fails with the error message in the subject line.
Sometimes the install does not even start. After running the exe it unpacks everything and then the Language selection pops up and after that nothing more.
Any idea how I can get that to work? I had no issues with the CR FPs.
    Thanks,
    Stephan

  • Why Tempro 3.3.3 "Installation ended prematurely because of an error"?

    hello forum,
i have a Satellite L500-1XD running windows 7 64 bit. i _had_ tempro 3.0 preinstalled from when i first bought the satellite in mar '10. for months, i ignored tempro's demands to update to tempro 3.3.3; until today. so, i downloaded it from [here|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/tempro/ToshibaW7TEMPRO.zip|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/TEMPRO_W7_RELEASE/].
when i ran the TEMPRO_3.3.3.exe file, i got the "Welcome to Toshiba TEMPRO Installation Wizard" window as expected. but then when i clicked the "Next" button, all i got was a "Fatal error" dialog that said "Installation ended prematurely because of an error".
I searched this forum for a solution and i found [this thread|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=167329|Satellite P100 fails to instal TEMPRO 2.0.3] that advised the original poster to uninstall the previous version. so, that's what *i* did. i uninstalled the working version 3.0 of Tempro that came preinstalled. but when i tried to install 3.3.3 again, i got the same "Installation ended prematurely because of an error"! now, i don't have tempro at all!
please, can anybody help with advice on what to do to get this thing successfully installed? i found a related entry in the windows 7 event viewer (see below) if that's of any use.
thanks in advance for your help.

  • FIM Reporting Services Installation Failed

    Hi,
I am trying to install FIM Reporting Service in our environment. I have followed the technet guide for doing so.
But my installation is encountering problems and it  fails and rolls back.
After some troubleshooting , i found that the installation fails because of intermittent connection between scsm console in FIM Service server and SCSM server.
Whenever the installation fails , the connection also fails between scsm console in FIM Service server and SCSM server and i am also not able to telnet  port 5724 at that time.
But after some secs again the connection happens successfully and i am able to telnet.I have checked with network team in this regard.they have confirmed no issues in the network.
Please could anybody suggest any thing on this regard.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi There,
Also the Account name and password have to be entered below for mappings:
Data Warehouse Action Account - is for the Data writer account.
Data Warehouse Report Deployment Account - is for the Data reader account
The one which is blacked out in the screenshot will be the main SCOM Action account.
So re enter the passwords carefully and accordingly and check and let me know.

  • VMM Agent Installation Issues (Was previously installed fine, now refuses to install (ends prematurely)

The VMM agent was installed on two Hyper-V host servers just fine (they were then removed temporarily from SCVMM), but trying to add the servers back into SCVMM it insisted the versions of the agents on the two hosts were unsupported (even though it
installed them) so it requested they were removed before retrying, after removing the agents it now refuses to install them and suggests installing them locally. Installing them on the local host manually just causes the installation to end prematurely.
    The firewall is completely disabled
    UAC is turned off
I have also tried running from elevated cmd using msiexec /I
    Any ideas??

    Hi,
Please refer below as it has some useful troubleshooting steps that might help you.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275
As you have tried from an elevated cmd, have you tried restarting Add Host job in VMM as the last step?
    http://networkerslog.blogspot.com/2013/07/unable-to-add-hyper-v-host-due-to.html
You can use PowerShell to reassociate the Host.

I got this by running the msi from the command line, as otherwise no error message is reported in the installation or in the event log.
Any idea what could be the cause?

    Hi,
I know this thread is old, but i just ran into this same problem and had been trouble shooting it for a few days. In the end the resolution to installing it on the SQL Cluster was to change the size of the model database. I finally found the link below and
change the value from 102 to 2 and it worked. I will say that in another test environment I was able to install with the value of 102. So in my case there could have been something else going on. Regardless, it finally worked.

  • FIM Service could not be installed

    Experts,
    I am installing FIM 2010 R2 SP1.
    installation order
    step1 on server1 - FIM Synchronization server
    step2 on server2 - FIM Service
    step3 on server3 - FIM Portal
    FIM Synchronization service installed successfully.
while installing FIM Service. All things goes smoothly but FIM Service is not visible in services.msc.
    What could be reason?
    Should I install Portal first?
    Thanks,
    Mann

You can install FIM Service and FIM Portal at the same time as seen on this guide
Step 8: Install FIM Synchronization Service, FIM Portal, SSPR, and FIM Reporting
What happens if you open your browser in your FIM server and go to
    http://YourFIMServer/identitymanagement or
https://YourFIMServer/identitymanagement if you have enabled SSL?
He is not installing FIM Portal at the same box - so /identitymanagement would not work here...

  • Primavera p6 professional R8.2 setup wizard ended prematurely because of an error.

i want to install primavera p6 professional R8.2 in my machine after selecting standalone option i am getting following error.
"Primavera p6 professional R8.2 setup wizard ended prematurely because of an error.your system has not been modified"
can any one help on this.

    Hi,
If the typical option is allowing the application to install, then i'd suggest just adding the database side of it manually.
The client application for PPM and EPPM in P6r8.2 and 8.3 is the same application (P6 Professional) and is 'smart' enough to enable/disable features depending on if it detects a PPM or EPPM database.
There should be an Oracle XE installation file in the download that you can install (personally I prefer SQL Server Express but you will need to enable Named Pipes and TCP/IP after it is installed).
I would recommend installing one of these, creating the database manually and then configure the install you have that is pointing to your EPPM database to also point to the PPM database you create after installing OracleXE/SQL Server Express.

  • 2012 R2 Essentials - Client Restore Service installation did not succeed.

I have setup the computer backups successfully and I have verified that the workstations are creating the client backups. The issue I have now is trying to setup the Client Restore Service. Initially, it said I was missing the ADK which was expected since
it was a fresh install so I used the link and it downloaded the ADK for Windows 8.1.
Now when I try to setup the Client Restore Service in the wizard, after I click on Start it updates the status to "Customizing WinPE images..." and after 5 minutes, I get the following error:
Client Restore Service installation did not succeed.
Cannot customize the client restore image.
The specified image file did not contain a resource section.
If I click on Start to begin the process again, and I browse to the C:\Windows\Temp folder, I can see the two mounted folders for the customizing process:
    C:\Windows\Temp:
GenBmrWinPETempPath: 8096c353-79cb-4d74-ae8d-3c287fdb735c : which remains empty and removes after failure.
GenBmrWinPEMountPath: c32700c9-7391-4caf-9a7e-af420e96d327 : mounted WIM with directory structure but removes after failure when it unmounts.
During the process, I also see the boot.wim in the following folder, "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\ClientRestore\8.100.25984_8.100.25984_6.3.9600.16384\0409\sources", with a filesize of 172,644KB.
the GenBmrState.xml file contains the following information:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><GenBmrJobExecutionInfo xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><Status>Idle</Status><LastStage>CustomizeWinPE</LastStage><OemImagesExist>false</OemImagesExist><AdkReady>true</AdkReady><ImageReady>false</ImageReady><MediaReady>false</MediaReady><WdsImageDeployed>false</WdsImageDeployed><Results><GenBmrJobResultPair><Key>Wds</Key><Value><Failed>true</Failed><Reason>CustomizeImageFailed</Reason><AdditionalErrorCode>0</AdditionalErrorCode><AdditionalErrorMessage>The
specified image file did not contain a resource section.
    </AdditionalErrorMessage></Value></GenBmrJobResultPair></Results></GenBmrJobExecutionInfo>
Does anyone know how to fix the "The specified image file did not contain a resource section" error?

Thank you for your reply! Hopefully answering your questions will provide further input! I did look over the article you linked but that is the same procedure I followed except I receive the error after the ADK is installed and I click on the Start button
which says it is "Customizing WinPE Images..."

  • Why is Domain required for an identity in the FIM Service?

I have a scenario where FIM is managing identity, but not all identities have an Active Directory account. I have a flag in the FIM Portal (Service) that indicates if a particular
user is entitled to an AD account or not. My provisioning setup adds or removes the AD account as appropriate. To support FIM Portal activities for those that do have AD accounts, I populate AccountName, Domain, and ObjectSID in the FIM Service from their
    corresponding attributes in AD.
What I have noticed is that it does not seem possible to null out or delete the Domain attribute for a user in the FIM Service. I can delete the attributes for both AccountName
    and ObjectSID without issues.
When attempting to remove the Domain attribute for a user I get the following in the event logs:
Microsoft.ResourceManagement.WebServices.Exceptions.UnwillingToPerformException: Other ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Procedure or function 'GetDomainConfigurationIdentifiersFromDomain'
expects parameter '@domainName', which was not supplied.
I assume that something internal to the FIM Service is trying to do some magic with validating the domain name and the domain configuration. I did found a post saying, “Yeah,
    you have to populate Domain”:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f207caa9-3a6f-4f2d-8461-a83777280803/fim-service-ma-export-failedmodificationviawebservices-error?forum=ilm2
My question is why is Domain required for a user? It is obviously needed for users that have AD accounts an must authenticate with the Portal, but in the case where a user
does not have an account (and therefore does not have a domain), it feels odd to store the incorrect data for the user. It also looks weird when you bring up list of users in the portal and see domain values for users that do not have accounts. In this particular
case, the client has many domains and does have the Domain and AccountName attributes displayed on the user search results page.

    Hi Henry,
Using another domain attribute and workflow to maintain the actual Domain and DomainConfiguration is a good suggestion, thanks.
My original question still stands however... Why is Domain required in the FIM Service?
It is sounding like the answer is "It is not really required on it's own, but there is an internal process that requires it if there is a value for DomainContext set (and there is some magic that sets DomainContext, so you have to manually clear it.)"
Since DomainContext is automatically set when a client writes a value to Domain. I would suggest that it is a bug that DomainContext is not automatically cleared when Domain is cleared.
I poked around a bit and the bug can be fixed by changing the stored procedure definition to allow null parameters. In the FIM Service database the stored procedure [fim].[GetDomainConfigurationIdentifiersFromDomain] has a parameter declaration of "@domainName
NVARCHAR(448)". If this is changed to "@domainName NVARCHAR(448) = null" the problem appears to be solved.
Making this change would of course be totally unsupported, but perhaps it can be included in a future product update.
For now I will use Henry's workaround, or just live with potential out of date Domain data.
     Thanks

  • SQL server reporting services installation

    HI all,
During the SQL server 2008 Reporting Services installation, select the Install the default
configuration option to associate the default Reporting Services instance
to BPC." In my case, the only available option on the Configuration is "Install but not configure". The other two, the "Native m
ode default configuration" and the "Sharepoint integration" are grayed out or disabled.
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Raghuram.

    Yes Raghu,
you have to select the third option.
So the RS components and services will be installed but it will be necessary to open after the installation configuration tool for RS.
There you have to follow step by step and to provide the required information.
Like RS user service or where is the SQL Server or where you have to create the Reports database and others...
It is not really a big deal to configure the RS if you follow all the steps.
