Final Cut Export Jumps Every 5 Seconds

Hi - I'm using Final Cut 7.0 and my sequence plays fine within Final Cut but when I export it, the video sort of slows down/jumps about every 5 seconds. I've tried a few different export formats (.mov,.m2v) and same problem. I've sent it directly to Compressor and when I preview it in Compressor it's already jumping. Anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Thanks!

Just to try to narrow this down, I would export the video using current settings, then import that back into FCP. Put that back on your timeline and see if it plays smoothly or skips in FCP.
...if it still skips then that's strange. If FCP can play the original sequence then it should be able to export a video that doesn't skip. The test above will test if the exported video is encoded with the skips or if for some reason, the quicktime player that you use to play it back in is causing the skips.
If the imported video skips, I would start to look at your render settings. You might have done this already but I would manually render the entire timeline before exporting.

  • Exporting in Final Cut only saves first 20 seconds...Project due in 2 days.

    Hello all.
Working in Final Cut Pro here, And this problem has arisen: I finished editing my 10 minute final project for school. I set my in and out points for the sequence. Nothing is selected, I go to Export > Quicktime Movie. So far so good. I change the "keep current settings" to "DV-NTSC 48khz". I'm making this move self contained because I'm going to be authoring in DVDSP on a different machine. I name it and save it and it saves almost instantly. When I go to play it, it is only the first 20 seconds. HELP PLEASE! This is Dude in 2 days!!

Also, it's possible you have a file export size limit set in your preferences. Confirm that there's no limit on file export size. You might also try deleting your preferences. Also, have you tried exporting to a different drive.

  • Final cut export to fly flicker

Trying to export a number of flvs from final cut via export, using quicktime conversion, Flash video flv.
This is in Final Cut 7.
The final flv will have an alpha chanel, the area around the subject keyed out.
Been doing the above for years, but now suddenly getting a wild strobbing, flickering effect flashing crazily just about every frame.
I did recently upgrade to Moutain Lion, and based off what I've been reading on the web think that might be the culpirt.  Unfortunatlately, haven't seen any fixes.
    Tried trashing the preferences.
    Any suggestions?

If you can't revert to an earlier OS, you might try exporting 2 files, the program (foreground) and a hicon.
About a year ago, I spent a week or so pulling what hair's left on my head out trying to deal with creating flash files with an alpha channel.  Not that easy.  If I remember correctly I used Sorenson Squeeze to do the successful conversion.

  • Warning:  Sometimes Final Cut exports a non-drop sequence as drop-frame

Just a heads up. This has been maddening for me. On occasion I will export my program for compressor and it will be drop frame when it should be non-drop.
These are sequences which have exported fine before. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Tonight I've lost about 2 hours because of this. At least I knew to check it before compressing the file and sending it out to our contractor because it has happened in the past.
By the way shutting down FCP and opening it up again seems to cure the problem.

  • Final Cut Exporting to DVD Settings Help!

Hello, all. Hopefully someone can help me with this problem that I have been struggling with for weeks.
I shot a video project in standard definition on a Sony VX2000, then edited it in Final Cut Express. I am now wondering what the best export settings would be in order to put it onto a DVD, and maintain the quality at 100 percent. I've tried exporting it in several different ways, but no matter what I do, the quality is never as good as it was shot.
So, what should the export settings be from Final Cut? And do you think I need to use a different software to maintain perfect quality on a DVD?
    Thanks so much

You need to ask this question on the FCE forum

  • Final Cut Export DVCPRO HD720p uncompressed/hi-res for tape and projection

Well I've been through the many suggestions found throughout the forum and have tried many combinations of exporting options, timeline options and codecs and still for the life of me can't find the one that works. Please offer any advice you can.
    Objective:
Export a 30 minute film with a DVCPro HD 720p60 timeline shot in 720p 23.98fps as uncompressed and as high resolution as possible for transfer to a Beta-SP for big screen projection.
In trying the Uncompressed 8 and 10 bit exports the film's video became jumpy and some color's over saturated to the point of pixelation (is that a word?). I've created new Uncompressed timelines and exported from there as well to the same over saturated/pixel effect.
Is just an export of a Quicktime movie with current settings and then use compressor with "DVDPRO HD 720p60" my best options? I've tried that too but not happy with the softness of some of it and as we're projecting BIG, I want to have the best resolution possible.
Oh - and this time - size does NOT matter.
    Thanks for any pointers.

What I mean is - how to create then a Quicktime someone without Final Cut can play. Exporting as a self-contained Quicktime movie does not seem to creat the stand alone file I may need. Any tips?

  • Final Cut export quality

I exported a video segment with animated text out of motion and the quality was almost perfect. When I brought that motion project into final cut and export from there, the quality of text looks terrible-jagged and blurry. The export settings of my sequence in final cut were:
    Keep current settings
    Make self-contained movie
There is no compression in the sequence settings within final cut.
Does anyone know how to get a better quality export out of final cut?

Make sure your Motion project was the same setting as your sequence in FCP.. all DV or HDV or whatever...
Might post what format you're working in...

  • Final Cut Export XML: Command-line option

Is there a way to use a command-line function to automatically export the XML for a Final Cut (.fcp) file ? We need to see the clips that make up a .fcp file, and do reporting. Since we have thousands of these files, we need to automatically create the XML files without opening each file automatically.

    Hey Ani_,
I've been working with Adobe products for a long time and typically when you come across an error that has anything to do with a XML file export problem its due to things such as effects you may have added in, color corrections, cross fades or any type of video transitions between clips. Remember your work flow should be
Import your footage into Premiere Pro
Name your clips (helps find things later on)
Place clips on time line in the order you wish (ONLY MAKE CUTS don't add anything, transitions color effects nothing)
Then once your clips are all placed on the timeline in your correct order you then EXPORT> Final Cut Pro XML
Now you can bring this into other programs for color grading or whatever else your going to do.  You will notice you have no errors on the export.
Once your done doing what your doing to the clips in another program (for example: Divinci Resolve color grading) you can then export them back to your main project then add your effects and transitions.

  • Can't open a video file after Final cut export

Very strange issue which getting me nuts.
    I've FCP 7 on Lion.
I'm finishing a project and export it as it is on an external hard drive for back up.
    I've got a .MOV file.
After that I'm making an other folder and export all the working file from FCP.
    End of the story.
Later I want to open the Quic time video file... and then I've got an error message telling me that QT is looking for data of the video file "xyz-FIN-0000000e"
There is only a STOP button.
If I press it I've got a new error message telling me :
The file "xyz-FIN-0000000e" can't be found. Without it the video can't be play correctly"
(I'm translating the message from my french system)
So I can find sometimes the files is asking from the other folder (the FCP back up files) and then it open it...).
But WHY does the video file needs reference files ?
It was an export and I ask the exporter to make a self movie...
    Realy I don't understand what's wrong.
    Any cue ?
    Thanks !
    Jean do

Is this a Final Cut Pro .mov file. If it is it would open with FCP. Are you sure you saved with "self contained" checked. I seem to remember someone with a problem like this.
I think in the future you need to open your exported self contained FCP.mov files with quicktime Player and change the "open with" to quicktime player.

  • Why can't I install Final Cut Pro X on my second computer?

I've bought and downloaded final cut on my main computer, but my second one (both iMacs!) can't download - App Store says I have to buy before I can download. By the way, before I upgraded to Mavericks, final cut was available for download. I did, however, not download it - thought it would be best to upgrade the OS first. Bummer.
    What to do?

log-in with your AppStore account on your 2nd Mac .......
most probably, the OS update cleared some cookies ....

  • Final cut export high quality

I'd like to know what are the best compressions to export a full hd file from final cut pro,
    for these cases:
    1) best quality full hd ( but not completely uncompressed or too heavy) to show the video to clients on my computer.
    2) best compromise quality/weight to put the video in my website. Do you suggest full hd or smaller?
    Thanks a lot to everyone

I agree if you suggest h264 to have a good quality to display the video with Quicktime or Vlc. But unfortunately on other players ( pc ) these files have often many problems. For example my file 16.9 h264  that are well displayed in Quicktime in other players goes 4:3...
I'd like to have a really good qualitu file that I can give to anyone without any suggest to play it correctly.
    Hmm
Also, for internet I'd like to have a file that anyone can see without downloading anything.
To see a  Quicktime h264 video people need to have quicktime.
So I was thinking about flv files..

  • Final Cut exports only 720x486 (640x480) when needing just 720x486

We are having issues with exporting from Final Cut or Quicktime.
We are uploading thru digital delivery. This is what we need:
    Format: QuickTime, MPEG-4
Codec: AVID IMX or APPLE IMX
    Bit Rate: 50 Mbs
    Aspect Ratio: 720x486 (1.481)
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Audio Channels: 2 (or more)
    We getting this error:
    "The received file was:
    Format: QuickTime, MPEG-4
    Codec: Apple IMX
    Bit Rate: 51628048
    Width: 720
    Height: 486
    Aspect Ratio: 1.347
    Frame Rate: 29.970
    Audio Channels: 2"
The file info on quicktime is 720x486 (640x480), but previously we were able to export files from FC that were just 720x486.
This is what we are exporting now... using exactly the same settings....
This is a file done a few months ago:

Is there something wrong with the way the video plays? There shouldn't be as the "(640x480)" is just telling you the square pixel equivilent of your 720x480 4:3 file.

  • Final Cut Export Issue

I recently cut together a video on final cut x (version 10.0). When I select the Export Video option under the share tab, absolutely nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Version 10.0 of FCPX is not compatible with Mavericks. You need to upgrade FCPX to version 10.1.1 which is the latest.
