Todas las versiones del FCE 4 posibles pueden o no posible pueden funcionar correctamente en los últimos Macs.
Es mucho mejor usando Final Cut Pro X, ya que es el único que se recomienda con los Macs nuevo.

  • Importing video from Sony HDR-SR12 to Final Cut Express 4.0

I have an iMac (iMAC5,1), Intel core 2 duo, 2 GHz processor speed and 1 Gb memory. I have a new Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder. I attempted to import the video to my iMovie 07, but was unsuccessful. I also attempted to import this video to my Final Cut Express 4.0 but had no luck either. I have no trouble importing my photos from the camcorder to PC, why such an issue with the video? Is there something I can do? I have heard that HD video is not compatible with iMovie 07, but shouldn't it work with Final Cut Express 4.0 or is it my iMac hardware?

In short, none of the above.
iMovie '07 and FCE4 are both compatible with HD video, and so is your iMac. If you would like us to help, it would be nice to know your workflow. How are you attempting within FCE to import the footage? Provide us some details here to work with and maybe we can be of more help.

  • Good substitute for Final Cut Express?

I tried a free month of Final Cut Express over a year ago. When done I found that the version I got If I bought was a newer version. I presume the two versions involved were 3.5 and 4.0. So I must have tried 3.5.
I liked it a lot! It would have been $200 as I recall. Now I find that It's no longer available. It had all the function I want and I cannot afford to pay for Final Cut Pro considering the relatively small amount of "work" I intend to do with it. I've since upgraded to Mountain Lion and it appears I cannot run Final Cut Express on this system. Plus, my iMac is mid 2010 with 4gb memory.
Is there some app out there that can do what FCE did?
One function in particular was very useful to me as a musician -- being able to stretch the audio from my Zoom recorder to match the audio/video from my camcorder.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello David
Quick question which may be helpful for Bruce:
I'm familiar with the controversy over the original release of FCX. There was great disatisfaction and disappointment because the first release appeared to be more of a glorified iMovie. Many professional features were replaced with templates creating a 'dumbed down' platform, (nothing like FCP).
Many FC Pro users were outraged. Many abandoned FC, and went with Avid.
Is it true Apple admitted to a 'flawed design' with X, and put back a lot of Pro features that were missing?
    Thanx

  • How do i update final cut express HD 3.0

    Hi
I have a question regarding final cut express HD 3.0
I have a imac that has 2GHz Intel Core duo, that got a memory upgrade to 2GB and upgraded the OS to 10.6.8
that is as far as i can upgrade, because the processor won't accept the newer OS, but anyways I was reinstalling final cut express after upgrading
and then i tried to open a project i was working on, only to have it say that the file is newer than the application.
I tried to find update for FCE, but i don't see it available anymore, i see that FCE 4.0 is availble, but for a price.
Is there any way that i can update to 3.5, or do i have to budget for 4.0
    thanks for any help

I'm not quite sure what FCE version was before the OS upgrade.
When i open the file, it goes all the way to beginning to bring the editor up, then it stops and says "File's format is too new for this version of the application"
which i am guessing that FCE needs updated, thats what i am getting from the message.
As far as i know it installed in default location, it is in the application folder.  I'm beginning to learn the mac basics and programs.
I didn't install the soundtrack or live type, should i have installed those too?
how do you uninstall FCE?  I will try and install it again and install everything and see if that works.
I was just trying to save hdd space in not installing everything, but if i need to i will install everything.

  • Final Cut Express on iMac G5

    Hey all,
I nearly had a heart attack when I installed my Final Cut Express software onto my new Rev.C iMac G5 and it told me that I needed an APG graphics card. My new mac equiped with the new PCI-E graphics card apparantly isn't compatable. So how do I utilise my editing software on my new mac? Can I upgrade the software for it to work with my new graphics card? Or do I have to buy a new Final Cut?!
Any help would be much apreciated. I have Final Cut Express 2.0.2 by the way.

I heard about this on MacCast podcast. It was talking about FCP but it may affect FCE too. Officially Apple doesn't address it.
There is a hack that was posted in the show notes (I assume it's there it was on the podcast). You basically have to edit one of the files in the contents that checks hardware when it (FC) opens. It didn't seem like much trouble to do so either.
If you go to MacCast and download show 11-25-2005 it's there. As I say this addresses running older versions of FCP on newer G5's but I'll bet it's the same issue. At least it's worth a listen.

  • What's a camcorder that's compatible with Final Cut Express

I just got final cut express and I am looking for a camcorder from $200 to $400 that's compatible with it. I don't know much about camcorders, and some simple straightforward suggestions would be much appreciated Thanks!

Would you like to use tape or a tapeless storage variety?
Tape cameras are miniDV or HDV, both work fine with FCE. HDV may well be out of the price range.
A base model AVCHD camera (tapeless) will also be fine.
Note: Standard AVCHD is OK but many cameras use variants like AVCHD Lite. Read the fine print.

  • Final Cut Express 4 compatible with iMovie '06 HD items?

Am considering buying Final Cut Express 4 but already have some projects in iMovie '06 HD. Are these two compatible? I don't have any plans to upgrade to iMovie '08 or '09.

    Are these two compatible?
Sort of. You can export iMovie content in a QuickTime format that's native to FCE, but the two programs' native file structure is different. FCE separates audio and video; iMovie mixes the two together into what's called a DV Stream.

  • Final Cut Express 2 - 10.6 compatible?

I'm looking to get Final Cut Express used. I've found a decent deal on a full FCE 2 install with FCE 4 upgrade. My question is, can I install FCE2 on 10.6?

FCE 2 isn't compatible but FCE 4 is. If you have a legitimate copy of both, you shouldn't need to install version 2. But you will need to enter the serial number from version 2 when prompted during the install process for the upgrade to FCE 4.

  • Soundtrack Pro compatible with Final Cut Express?

I have Final Cut Express 4 installed and installed Logic Studio. Soundtrack Pro and Compressor did not install. Are these programs not compatible with FC Express?

    From the Apogee website:
"Duet features two superb microphone inputs, each with phantom power and up to 75dB of gain. With Duet, you can record a pristine vocal track while playing your guitar or keyboard, stereo mic your acoustic or even capture a live concert."
    http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet.php
It's ideal target audience would be laptop users in need of a high-quality, but very portable audio interface for Logic.

  • I just bought final cut express 4 Academic and it fails downloading!!!

I just bought final cut express 4 at my Sister's university. They have a mac store there and the listed price for FCE 4 was $70, so i bought it. After opening it the download failed. What do I do?! Please help!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
What download? Do you mean the installation failed? You need to contact Apple with installation issues. Before doing that, it might be worthwhile to completely uninstall FCE, use Disk Utility to repair your permissions, then reboot. Here's a free utility to help with the uninstall. (http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm)
You need to be doing the installation and first run of the software from an Admin account on your Mac.

  • Final Cut Express & Sony DCR DVD-405 Compatible?

    Long story short . . .
Received a gift "Sony DCR DVD-405" (uses USB, NOT firewire) with intention of home video and family use. Happy with iMovie. No need for more.
    But . . .
It is a major pain in the butt to get iMovie & camera to talk. Bought two 3rd party applications and still not happy.
Will Final Cut Express work smoothly with this camera or should I Craigslist it and buy a Sony HC96?
I will have access to Final Cut Express for free through work in the Fall.
    Jeremy

Will Final Cut Express work smoothly with this camera or should I Craigslist it and buy a Sony HC96?
The 405 is a camera that produces Mpeg 2 files and that means no direct working with FCE, third party conversions required.
The HC96, being a Mini DV camera, will fit like a glove.
FCE works with DV, HDV or AVCHD (version 4 only using Intel chip Mac)

  • Compatible HD movie camera for final cut express

I am in the unenviable position of having a ten year old who is savvy in Final Cut (has used it on a friends computer) and has now begged for the program for his birthday (this week). So I bought the program but now his camera has broken - can someone please please recommend a relatively cheap HD recorder that would work with final cut express (something under 500 pounds would be awesome ie under 700 USD) - finding the info online not all that helpful and have been to Apple store in London and NY! to ask which camera they would rec. but they cant recommend one (brand favourite). Be so grateful if you could help.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
The only HD formats FCE supports are HDV and AVCHD. You should be able to find middle-end models of both for under 500 pounds. I'd recommend asking your son whether he prefers the idea of the traditional tape based camcorder (in this case HDV) or wants a hard drive based camera (AVCHD). Both will work fine with FCE, and you could then do a quick and easy search on the website of your preferred manufacturer (Canon, Sony, Panasonic, etc.) or visit a local store to pick out one that works with your budget.
I could arbitrarily choose a camera for you to purchase, but without knowing your needs it really would be better for you to use this information to pick out one that you like. Just be careful - if you do go for AVCHD make sure the camcorder is actually AVCHD, and not a variant like AVCHD Lite or AVCCAM. Only pure DV, HDV, and AVCHD will work with FCE.

  • Is iDVD compatible with quicktime movies from Final Cut Express 4?

I am trying to find out if iDBD can be used with Final Cut Express 4 output or is it just for imovie?  If it can be used with FCE4 what is the extension.  Thank you.

    Hi
Yes - IF YOU DO IT RIGHT.

    Several things
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mix-down
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
Free space on Start-up hard disk
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    Encoding
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
Brand and type of DVDs used
    • I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    Burn speed set
    • I set down this to x4 (or x1)
    iDVD BUG
    • One can not go back to movie-project for any alterations and then go back to
the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    Use of Chapters
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it self
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    Material used to build movie
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this eg .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Trash iDVD pref. file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screen-saving

Thanks in advance for you answer.

I'm currently using FCE 4.0.1 and no issues. However it wont work properly right off the bat after you upgrade so you'll have to delete the program and reinstall it from your disk.  The only wierd thing is I'm missing about 10 or so filters I had before which may be due to the os but for me its still not much of an issue. They aren't any of the major filters that most users will need every day.
