Final cut pro 5 on intel mac

ok i have seen ALOT of people do this. and it always works. they make final cut pro 4.5 work on an intel mac bye going to applications right clicking on FCP 4.5 going to show package contents and open up info.plist with text edit then find the AGP in the info.plist and replace it with PCI. i was wondering. would this work on final cut pro 5.0? would it work on FCP 4.0?. if you have tried please tell me thanks!

It's technically not supported. Even if you do get it to work, you may experience problems down the line.

  • Final cut pro for intel mac

hey i have a macbook and have final cut pro 5 HD powerpc version and i was wondering will it work on my mac? isen't there a program called rosetta on the intel macs the lets the power pc programs work on the intel macs? help please.

The question has come up daily since the Intel Macs were shipped so you might try searching back a few weeks for more definitive information and check the FCP marketing/upgrade pages for a clear explanation of minimum system requirements
No. Your older version will not run on your new Intel Mac using Rosetta. You must upgrade to 5.1.1., the universal version.

  • HT4664 Can I use final cut pro X on " Mac mini" ?

Can I use final cut pro X on " Mac mini" ?

depending on what model: for sure yes, it does!
I did use FCPX on an old MacMini, c2d, 2.26GHz with 8GB Ram (using proxies made editing easy).
My actual work-horse is a MacMini i5, late 2012, 16GB Ram, plus some ext. usb3 drives = perfect for my needs! (costs vs. power)
I'm using two cheap 2.5" Toshiba 1TB usb3-drives, combined with MacOS' built-in DiskUtility as a Raid0 = 150mbps for under 100€ ... not professional (=raid0 contains a small risk of data loss), but again: best €-vs.-HP ratio

  • Final Cut Pro X and Mac Caption Site Licenses

How much does it cost for a site license for Final Cut Pro X and Mac Caption?  I need to have one computer going for production and one for training someone.  Is there 501C-3 pricing available?

FCP X can be used on as many Macs as you own.  Be sure each is logged in to your iTunes/App Store account.  So for two Macs that you own, you can download to both, only pay for one.
There is a bulk license deal for it, but you'd need to be running 10+ Macs before you'd get any discount or anything.
Mac Caption is an issue you'll have to take up with them.

  • Final Cut Pro 6 on Mac OS Snow Leopard installation problem HELP!!!

After 2 - 3 hours of installing all 10 FCS 2.0 discs and Software Updates, I can't seem to launch Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. I get *"...software maybe damaged or not installed.."* So I removed all of them and only custom-installed Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. It works with no problem!!! Then I custom-installed Soundtrack, Motion, DVD Studio Pro etc..., I can't launch Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. again! What the **** is going on? I get that "damaged" warning and Final Cut Pro icon is replaced by missing application icon.
My Mac Pro also has _Pro Tools 8 LE_ with _003 Mixer Rack connect to USB_. That's it. No other application. You think this is maybe causing the problem?
    Anyone having similar problem?

Carbon Copy Cloner is pretty simple to use.  If you have any questions, post back or read the documentation.  As I said in the user tip, test your clone after you make it to be sure it is bootable and your apps work.

  • Final Cut Pro on a Mac Book Pro

My daughter is going to buy a Mac Book Pro, 15", 2.4GHz, 2GB and 160GB hard drive. She intends to have the commercial Final Cut Pro downloaded onto it. I don't know anything about it but she says it is the very expensive software that is used commercially-whatever that may be. Is the Mac Book Pro just described sufficient to run it or would she need a larger HD and more ram beyond the 2GB? Should she get the glossy or regular screen?

Before I got my MBP, I had edited and postproduced multiclip sequences for years on my Powerbook 15" with just 1.5Gb RAM, running both After Effects and Photoshop alongside FCP without a problem. Apart from the graphics card, the the MB is a faster and better machine than my old pal, and I can't see a good enough reason to completely overlook it.
The differences in "FCP-stats" are marginal. What the MBP has over the MB in FCP-land is
    * FW800 bus, providing better speed to the external disks (not needed for consumer material)
    * Native DVI-output (in contrast to the MB's proprietary miniDVI connector)
    * FCP might also find some help in the better graphics card of the MBP.
... but not enough to entirely outrule the MB. If you're on a budget, I'd concider it.
But the MBP / MP is definitely the weapon of choice!

  • HT6114 I want to re-install Aperture and make updates to Final Cut Pro on my MAC ?

I want to re-install Aperture and to update my Final Cut Pro software, but when I go to install or update I get an error message saying I need to install the latest version of MAC OS X 10.9.  I currently have version 10.7.5 installed but when I go to do a software update it tells me that my OS X software is up to date.
What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Download Mavericks via the App Store.

  • PROBLEM WITH FINAL CUT 4 ON INTEL MAC

tried to install final cut version 4 on an intel macbook pro and it comes up with error message saying AGP card missing. How come my version 3 will run? Any ideas?

    Hi,
you need to have crossgrade to FCS 5.1 to run it on Intel Mac, but I think is too late to do a crossgrade - the promotion was valid up to 17 or 19 of March.
Now you can do a "standard" upgrade:

Cool Thanks...how about that IDK what its called but whatever I need to transfer it to the computer without being compressed with fire wire...u know for the HD/SD SDI out thing....That would also help out alot right?
    1. Firewire doesn't compress anything. It is a simple data transfer. The only way that you could get your HDV footage out of your camera without it being compressed is to capture it live out of the HD-SDI port using a Kona or Blackmagic card. Once your footage goes to tape it is compressed, firewire does not increase or decrease that compression.
    2. Welcome to the forums. Hang around, learn a lot and contribute. However, lose the "text message" (IDK) language. Folks here shouldn't ahve to go to wikipedia to figure out what you are saying.

  • Final cut ex on intel macs

can you put final cut express on the new intel macs?

Yes but it is not ideal - it will run slower etc. We are expecting a new improved version designed for Intel-Macs.
If you already have FCE you can make it work by hitting the "esc" key when you get the error message.

  • Final cut studio and intel macs

How well will final cut studio run on the new intel macs that were announced today? thanks for the help!

According to Apple the new intel machines will not run the current version of Final Cut Studio. You either have to wait until March when they release the Universal version or you can buy the suite now to run on your G4/G5 then get the Universal suite for $50 in March.

  • Mac Mini & Final Cut Pro X: Intel Core i5 vs. Intel Core i7?

The Intel Core i5 is a dual-core, while the Intel Core i7 is a quad-core. Which one should I get and which one is more beneficial? Will I notice a difference in performance between the two? Besides FCPX, I'm also going to be listening to music, browsing the Internet, creating discs, and playing games. I know that the Macs no longer have a disc drive, but I am going to be buying an external disc drive.

Like woodmeister50, I generally buy the top of the model line (I have a late 2012 Mac mini with the 2.6GHz i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and Fusion drive) on the theory it will perform well enough to last through at least one more generation before I am longing for an upgrade. That said, given what you say you are planning to do with your Mac mini you are unlikely to notice a difference in performance between the i5 and i7 processors. However, you are likely to notice a difference between the model with only an HDD and one with a Fusion Drive. The Fusion drive will yield disk I/O performance that feels like a SSD but with the capacity of an HD. That could be a noticeable difference using FCPX.
NOTE: You mentioned games and with highly graphic intensive RPGs you may not be satisfied with the performance of the Intel video processor in the mini. If you are a serious gamer I would recommend you consider an iMac or even a Mac Pro for their superior video performance.

  • Final Cut Pro Minimum Requirements/Mac Pro alternatives

I'm buying a top spec Mac Pro and I will run FCP Pro on this. However I'd also like another cheaper machine on which to run FCP Pro on. I acept it will run a little slower, but that's fine. I want to avoid the iMac as I've already got a screen and don't want to take up more space. Which Apple laptop would do the job and what spec should I look at? Alternatively would a Mac Mini run FCP Pro, if so I assume this would need to be at full spec.
    Thanks.

The MacBook Pro is generally recommended for FCP use.
When talking about the MacBook and Mac Mini, there is the issue of the integrated Intel GMA video card with a paltry 64Mbs of RAM. This isn't sufficient for using Motion, and is not officially supported by Apple.
People do report being able to run FCP on their MacBooks. However, it's generally not considered a fast or professional solution because the system aren't really specced for heavy video editing. I would be more hesistant about recommending the Mac Mini, though, because it still has not upgraded to the Core 2 Duo processor.

  • Can't use HDV quicktime .mov files (captured in Final Cut Pro) on a mac at work) on my PC at home

    Hiya everyone!
I've taken some work home from the macs at work, but can't open it on my PC.
Footage was captured in FCP on a mac at work, HDV quicktime .mov, but won't open in the newest quicktime, windows media player and more importantly in Adobe After Effects CS3 or Premiere Pro CS3 on my PC at home.
When I try opening the files in quicktime, the screen is white, but the audio plays. They don't open in windows media player at all. When I try to import them into Premiere, I get a message reading, "Error Message, Codec missing or unavailable". But they import into After Effects, except they only play as white...
I've tried converting them into almost everything, and they often play (as .avi for example in the newest QT, WMP, Adobe Premiere and AE), but they increase A LOT in size and decrease A LOT in quality.
The HDV files that won't open read as:
    Source: *.mov
    Format: HDV 1080i50, 1920 x 1080, Millions 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), 48.000 kHz
    Movie FPS: 25.00
    Playing FPS: (Available when playing)
    Data Size: 69.53 MB
    Data Rate: 28.10 mbits/sec
    Current time: 00:00:01.64
    Duration: 00:00:20.76
    Normal size: 1920 x 1080
    Current size: 1920 x 1080
Anything smaller than 1920 x 1080 plays fine.
I've been all through google, and the adobe and apple sites, and the best I could find is here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7753066#7753066
    and
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8159317&#8159317
My problem is almost identical to these 2...
No one in the whole world seems to have an answer...
Does anyone here know how I can use the HDV files from the work macs on my PC at home?
    -Kaiwin

As a rule of thumb, any CoDec associated with the Apple Pro applications is generally not available on Windows. This also includes their flavor of HDV. The only exception at this point is ProRes, for which they added a player component recently. So therefore this would have to be what you use for capture/ export from FCP. Apart from that you can of course always buy a capture card from Blackmagic or AJA with the benefit of the CoDecs being available cross-platform... Or you use a commercial software-only CoDec like Cineform.

  • Final Cut Pro and Which Mac?

    Good afternoon,
My school will be starting a film program next year and we have decided to go with FCP and Macs. We are looking at purchasing either the new MacBook Pros or the 24 inch iMac 3.0Ghz. I'm wondering if any might have any advice on which of these computers would be serve our needs in terms of running FCP.
    Thanks very much.
    Cheers,
    Burntmonkey

    Studio X,
Thank you for the reply, and for the focusing questions.
This will be a video program and the Macs will be for a lab, but may have to have some portability (ie. from one classroom to another periodically.)
There is a good chance that the cameras we buy will be AVCHD format (Hard drive or Flash based).
Being a tape-based videographer myself, I'm not familiar with how AVCHD is transferred to the computer but I assume it is Firewire.
Student work will be stored on external drives owned by our school.
    Cheers,
    John
