Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 will not launch - crashes

Hello All,
Has anyone heard of any issues with FCP X and FCP 7 (FCS) running on the same hard disk, but NOT at the same time?
I have been running (for months) using FCP 7 and FCP X, without problems.
Just 3 days ago, FCP 7 will attempt to launch, but halts as it displays the "Reading Video" dialog window - and will not complete reading
the video files. I have tried trashing the preferences, I have the same issue, the program halts, but this time at the dialog where you
choose the scratch disk, and the video format, etc.
My system was recently updated with FCP X ( to 10.0.0.8), compressor, etc.
I have a raid system for the video files - this is ok.
I had the same issue before on a different hard disk.I removed the hard disk, installed a new disk, and restored the system from a cloned backup disk
and all was well until tonight, when FCP 7 started crashing (displaying a crash log).
I am running Lion, 10.7.5, Intel 2.66 8 core, 24GB memory. FCP X runs ok.
Any ideas here?

I have never heard of any problems using both apps and I do it myself.
I am sure the problem lies somewhere in your computer setup or FCP 7 so I suggest you try trashing the preferences again with Preference Manager.
Also open Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions.
If this doesn't work, use FCS Remover to uninstall just the FCP 7 app and reinstall it from the installation DVD ....... it should only take 5 minutes.

HT201237 Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 not working under Yosemite

I have Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 and it stopped working under Yosemite. Are there any fixes or work arounds? Oddly enough, my copy of Final Cut Express 4.01 still works!
MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2011)
12 GB RAM
180 GB Intel 530 SSD

I'm not seeing Final Cut in my purchases on this device ...
However ...
I did change my Apple ID a few times since 2012 (I kept forgetting it and also wanted to consolidate with my other Apple devices ... )
I actually have Final Cut 10.0.8 installed on two computers. I updated Final Cut on the laptop last year to 10.1 .... but KEPT the old FCP version on the desktop because I liked it.
However, since I updated to Yosemite on the desktop last week, Final Cut 10.8 will not open --- and I don't have an "update option" in the App store.
Will this happen on my laptop if I update to Yosemite? That device is running Mountain Lion, I think. But I would hate to also lose Final Cut 10.1 ... it's all I seem to have left.
Do I have to purchase Final Cut again for both computers? Thanks very much for your help, it is very appreciated!

Final Cut X sees camera but will not import.

I have a Canon XL1s going into my MacBook Pro running Final Cut X via DV to FireWire 800 to thunderbolt. Since I am recording long meetings I skip recording to tape and record straight to the hard drive. I have done this in the past and it worked on older versions of the same hardware and software.
Please note that it will import only when the camera is also recording.
Now When you import, you can see the feed and the computer says its importing, but after you stop importing the files are nowhere to be found. I even tried this on IMovie and used someone else's Mac with the same result. Does anyone have any suggestions or ran into similar issues?

When recording video directly from your camera with Final Cut Pro X, the following Knowledge Base article provides some great information in regards to it's functionality:
Final Cut Pro X: Import while recording
Record live video and audio into Final Cut Pro
Do one of the following:
To record using the built-in camera: Click the Import Media button in the toolbar.
To record using an external iSight camera: Connect the iSight camera to your computer with a FireWire cable, and click the Import Media button in the toolbar.
In the Cameras list on the left side of the Media Import window, select the camera you want to import from.
A live video image from the camera appears in the Media Import window.
Click Import.
In the window that appears, choose how you want to organize the imported media in your library:
To add the imported clips to an existing event: Select “Add to existing event,” and choose the event from the pop-up menu.
To create a new event: Select “Create new event in,” use the pop-up menu to choose the library in which you want to create the event, and type a name (for example, “Chris and Kim Wedding”) in the text field.
To learn more about events, see Organizing libraries overview.
Note: You can set storage locations for each of your libraries using the Library Properties inspector. For more information, see Manage storage locations.
If you want to create optimized or proxy media, analyze the video, or analyze the audio, select the relevant checkboxes in the Transcoding, Keywords, Video, and Audio sections.
If you don’t set Final Cut Pro to analyze your media during the import process, you can analyze it later (if necessary) in the Browser.
Note: Some import options are available only when you import files from a storage device. For more information, see Organize files while importing and Import from a hard disk.
When you’re ready to begin recording, click Import.
The camera begins recording immediately.
When you want to stop recording, click Stop Import.
A new video clip is created. You can click Import to begin recording again. You can repeat this process as many times as necessary.

Final cut pro x - Title changes are not saved!

Dear Sirs,
I have a big project I am working on in Final cut pro x that contains about 300 subtitles (created with the basic title tool), and now when I make text changes to these titles, quit the program and open the project again those changes are gone....!!! This is a serious problem for me, any help concerning this would be greatly appriciated.

You might not have a compatible video card. It needs to be "OpenCL" compatible. What mac are you using, and what video card? This info is available using the "About this Mac" menu item; click "More Info" to get to the video info.

My Final Cut Pro X Trial Version is not working. Please Help!

I downloaded the trial version of Final Cut Pro X yesterday (which is a .dmg file) and when i tried to open it, am message pops up saying it's not recognized. I tried duplication the file then repairing it using Utilities.. But it didn't work. Someone please help me.

Final Cut Pro X 10.0.07 not working with Mountain Lion?

I have just installed Mountain Lion on my computer two weeks ago, and just now I needed to use Final Cut Pro X 10.0.7 to edit a video for a client.
Every time I open FCPX it doesn't open normally. It doesn't bring up it's normal purple background, just the wording. And when it opens and I scroll over a video, it won't bring it up in the viewer.
When I go to import footage, it opens the import window but it's just a grey screen.
What can I do? I need to have FCPX working by tonight!

Use FCS Remover to trash the app and try reinstalling it.

i tried to install final cut pro HD 4.5 in my new imac g5 isight and the following message appeared: "Configuration Error This software requires certain hardware or software wich is missing *AGP graphics card"
This means that my mac can't run final cut application ????? is that true???

Final Cut Pro, QT7 and the rest of Studio crashing constantly

OK, so I was experiencing slow everything and heard my 3 year old hard drive (from an Early Mac Pro 2008) was laboring.
I decided to replace the hard drive with a new one and start fresh.
I installed Snow Leopard on the new drive and then Final Cut Studio, ran all the updates.
I then installed Lion, ran all the updates.
I then installed all the Final Cut Pro plugins (Red Giant Magic Bullets Looks and FX Factory), ran all the updates.
Now, Final Cut loads up and allows me edit for 5 minutes and then crashes everytime.
Quicktime 7 also does this.
I'm an iPhone 4s, iPad2 user who likes Lion, but am seriously considering biting the bullet and going
back in time to Snow Leopard. FCP is my business and lifeline and I can't explain how much time, effort
and frustration this has caused over the last 3-4 months.
Does anyone have any advice as to why this happening? Everything was installed fresh + new on a
new hard drive.
I've run Verify Permissions and Repair Permissions.
I've also run Disk Warrior and had it go thru the Files to make sure nothing was corrupt.
I'm at the end of my rope. I would break down and buy a new Mac Pro, but I'm truly not confident
in Apple's support for Final Cut Studio anymore (especially under Lion).
Anyone have any ideas?

Going from SL to Lion is not advised. Start clean.
Install Lion. Run updates. Install FCS. Run updates.

I just clicked update in Final Cut Pro X and am now not seeing projects I had worked on. Any chance I still have them?

While importing new media, I clicked on "update" library - and now can't see projects I had worked on previously. Anyone tell me if they are still there and where to find them?

You will have to navigate your way to them.
Select File>Open Library and you will probably see them listed.
If not, click on "Other" and navigate to them.

I can't update my final Cut Pro, it says I did not purchase the software

I'm trying to update to 10.0.3 and I can't do it through the app store because for some reason it says I did not purchase the app. If thats true then why do I have a receipt....

Make sure that you're in the App Store "Updates" area.
If you're in the FCPX Appp Store page, then it will ask you to purchase again.
I had an issue where the App Store was telling me that FCP was alrady installe don this computer. Well no duh?
I trashed the FCPX app and then hit update again, adn all went fine.

Final Cut Pro 7 Serial Number does not work

After the latest Apple Update my FCP program puts up a requestor box wanting the serial number. When I put the number in the box says Incorrect. I've tried everything like changing 0 to O to copy and pasting and keying in. Nothing works. What did Apple do in the last update to screw up FCP?

We have see a few related posts, try searching for serial number.
I assue you, nothing was perpetrated by Apple during the recent ProApp updates. You can usually download them as a stand alone installer instead of getting them as an automatic script.

Final cut pro video in 4:3, not wanted.

hi i am a FCP noob but i have created a video and the settings are: 2048x1556 at 23.98p and the video looks fine in the preview but when i go to full screen it goes to 4:3 and the same happenswhen i export it too. any help?

FCP only edits video in standard video frame resolutions. You can see them in the list of custom settings for a project.
Your media isn't in one of those formats so it's being made to fit into one of them. You have to select one that works for you and fit the media into that.
