Final Cut Pro 7 monitor gamma and Snow Leopard?

With Leopard and FCP6 I was told I needed to calibrate my monitor to 1.8 gamma. Does this still hold true for FCP7 running under Snow Leopard or can I now use a monitor calibrated to 2.2 gamma?
Many thanks!

Sorry, but again - any source of that value being aimed for video ?
One note I found was regarding cinema projector - very specific target - not video...
In 2005, leveraging color science research, the movie studios’ Digital Cinema Initiative selected a gamma of 2.6 as providing the best perceptual quality for 12-bit cinema projection.

  • Final Cut Pro 6 on Mac OS Snow Leopard installation problem HELP!!!

After 2 - 3 hours of installing all 10 FCS 2.0 discs and Software Updates, I can't seem to launch Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. I get *"...software maybe damaged or not installed.."* So I removed all of them and only custom-installed Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. It works with no problem!!! Then I custom-installed Soundtrack, Motion, DVD Studio Pro etc..., I can't launch Final Cut Pro 6.0.6. again! What the **** is going on? I get that "damaged" warning and Final Cut Pro icon is replaced by missing application icon.
My Mac Pro also has _Pro Tools 8 LE_ with _003 Mixer Rack connect to USB_. That's it. No other application. You think this is maybe causing the problem?
    Anyone having similar problem?

Carbon Copy Cloner is pretty simple to use.  If you have any questions, post back or read the documentation.  As I said in the user tip, test your clone after you make it to be sure it is bootable and your apps work.

  • Is OS X Lion compatible with Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and Digital Performer 6.02

I'm currently running OS X 10.6.8 and my Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and Digiital Performer 6.02 work fine.
I want to upgrade to OS X Lion to take advantage of iCloud but I do not want to have to upgrade the FCP or DP programs.
Are my current versions compatible with OS X Lion?
    Thanks,

  • Is Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro 5 still relevant and usable?

Is Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro 5 still relevant and usable? I bought it about four or five years ago and never started learning it, but would like to start learning editing now. Thanks.

That is the version I have. What formats can I work with in FCP 5.1. For example, can I edit movies from my Nikon Coolpix 7900 point and shoot that is about five years old? My Panasonic DV camera that is also about five or six years old? Will I be able to burn these types of footage to disc once edited and watch them on a DVD player. Thanks for your former replies.

  • I have purchased Final Cut Pro for my imac and now want to put it onto my macbook air so I can use it when away from my desk. How can I do this

I have purchased Final Cut Pro for my imac and now want to put it onto my macbook air so I can use it when away from my desk. How can I do this

I took away my backup disk with me so just took it from there excellent. I am back home at present working on my imac. When I go to use my macbook air on these projects (when away on boat) is it easiest to simply copy the Project and Events folders in total from my imac onto the other machine and do the same upon my return in reverse? I don't use icloud

  • Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 and older iMac

Final Cut Pro 10.0.9 runs very well on my 2008 iMac & Snow Leopard.
Will there be any problems running FCP 10.1.1 & Mavericks on this computer?

I believe my computer is identical to yours and although the card is not supportd it still works OK
If yours does not work at all you can still use FCP X 10.0.9 which is almost identical to 10.1.1 except for the new Library system  .  .  .  .  I'm sure the old FCP X will do more than you will ever need.
If you are desperate to use the latest FCP X on Mavericks but can't afford an iMac, you could get a Mac Mini complete with third party 24" monitor for half the price of a 21.5" iMac.
The Mini may not be quite as fast as the latest iMacs but it will be a lot faster than your old one.

  • Final Cut Pro 2nd monitor not working properly?

Been here before a long time ago, can't remember how it was resolved.
Working in a new edit suite, FCP Studio.  Two new Samsung monitors (not my choice).  I want one to be my playback monitor.
    I set:
Final Cut Pro > Audio/Video Settings
    > Digital Cinema Desktop Full Screen
    > View > External Video > All Frames
But all I'm getting is a black frame on the 2nd monitor.
They've also got one of those very flat alluminum keyboards ... where F12 becomes a sound control.  I'd love to know how I can change the function key to work as an FCP action / 2nd monitor toggling on and off.
That's two questions.  Would be most appreciative of an answer for either.

    Hey Andy,
I did the first half of your suggestion, but not the second half.  Heading down to the studio this morning ... set up in a tiny white chapel looking out across the silvery North Atlantic ... and will try the second half of your suggestion.  Will also see if there are two graphics cards installed in the Mac Pro.  Will also check out the Window > Arrange in FCP (something I should have checked first off).
I talked to a filmmaker who previously worked on the system, only to discover he never uses the second monitor as a full screen, but rather as a large 'bin'.  Interesting.
If worse comes to worse and I can't solve it I suspect I could size the canvas window to super large and drag it over to the second monitor.
Will post back when I've tried the latest suggestions ...
    Thanks you mucho guys,
    Ben

  • How do I make Final Cut Pro X run smoother and faster?

Heres my problem with Final Cut Pro X:
-Most days it runs very choppy.
    -It's slow
-it cuts certain parts of the audio while previewing my project.
-Only on a good day, it runs well
Heres what i've tried doing already:
    -Restarting my mac
-Closing all my other applications that were open
    -Clearing space
    My Macbook Pro:
Processor: 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB
    Software: OS X 10.8 (12A269)
    Year: 2011
Should I upgrade the Ram? Processor? Graphics card? if you have any suggestions i'd be then happy to get them.

Your system should be able to run FCPX smoothly as it's currently configured.
Run Activity Monitor and check for memory leak. If you see that RAM is not being released, try repairing permissions.

  • How do I take Final Cut Pro off one computer and move it to a new one?

I'm using Final Cut Pro Academic, and I can only run the program on one computer. If I'm getting a new computer, how do I move the program from my old computer to my new computer? Is there a way to "deauthorize" my old computer? If there is, I can't seem to find it.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Excellent! Do I need to do anything to ensure the the program installs on the new computer? Do I need to make sure the computer is connected to the Internet when I uninstall the program from the old computer?

  • Importing issues with Final Cut Pro X. Green flash and twitches while play back

Hello, I'm having some importing issues with Final Cut Pro X and I can't find any solution whatsoever. Perhaps my importing settings are wrong?
Anyways, I've done a lot of recordings on eye TV and HD PVR with some videos that are about 3 hours long. I exported them into H.264 files, which turns them into mpeg-4 files with AAC audio. Then I import them into final cut pro X and I notice it takes a long time for them to render the videos and I notice that there are some green screens and twitches while I play through the video.
Here is a screenshot of the green screen that I'm talking about:

Could it be my 2 video graphics card that is causing this kind of issues? Or is there any solution to fix this?
In the past, I've used iMovie 09 and it worked out perfectly. However, the new iMovie 11 is terrible because it automatically optimzie my 3 hour long videos into making the importing process to (144 hours long to import). Is there any way to get iMovie 09 back or am I stuck on dealing with this Final Cut Pro X issues?

  • Tried to use PixelMator as default external editor but iPhoto has only final cut pro as external editor and won't let me change?

I tried to set up Pixelmator as external iPhoto editor bot only option in Preferences> advanced> edit photos is iPhoto or Final Cut Pro?

You have previously set FCP as the external, editor - in the iPhoto preferences select FCP again and a window will open for you to find and select Pixelmator - if that a photo editor ?

  • Can not turn on the AV Output with Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 and IOS 10,2,9, Who can help me

Non riesco a attivare A/V Output con Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 e Mavericch 10.9.2

First, Mavericks is an OS X version, not an iOS version.  iOS is for mobile devices, OS X is for Macs.
Second, what is the specific input/output device your Mac is using for A/V Output to access?
Have you gone into the Preferences, into the Playback section, and in the "A/V Ouput" menu, what device A/V Output is suppoed to use?  Then, go to the Window menu and turn on A/V Output.
If none of that works, you have a compatability issue.  Verify with the manufacturer you have the latest drivers, and that it is compatible with OS X Mavericks 10.2.9 and FCPX 10.1.1.

  • Can I download final cut pro X trial version and use final cut pro 7 during and after the trial period ?

My company uses Final cut pro 7 and I have to know if we can try Final cut pro X on one of our G5 and, in the case of we can't switch to FCPX, if we can use FCP7 again without re-initialise it. Thanks
sorry for my english. it's not my maternal language.

You cannot use FCPX on a G5. It's Intel only.

  • Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and Intel Core Duo

    Hey there!
Not sure where else to post this, so here goes.....
I'm a total "newbie" and don't know SQUAT about anything but I'm trying to understand "video editing".
A copy of "Final Cut Pro HD" that is supposed to be "4.5" has come my way. Will this work on my iMac? Can I load it in without any problems? Should I even bother?
ANY and all info would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thank You!

The first version of FCP that was compatible with Intel processor Macs was version 5.1. The current version available is 6.0 (part of FCS 2).
FCP 5.0 and older (including version 4.5) was written for PPC processor Macs and are not compatible with the Intel processors in your iMac. If you can get it to install, it won't run properly.
