  • Final Cut Pro Video Import Crash Problems

Whenever I try to import video files into Final Cut Pro X the program crashes. I've tried numerous formats and nothing is working. If it does pull the video in and lets me see it briefly prior to crashing, the footage appears shaky and with bright green lines running through it. It does not look like this if you play the clip outside of FCP. I've used FCP to make videos within the last year without this problem and have updated as well as uninstalled and re-installed the software to see if that would helped, but nothing has worked. I am stumped and my client is getting antsy for a finished product. Please advise.

I've had the same problem on both my laptop and my desktop:
    Laptop specs: 13" MacBook Pro (2012) / 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 / 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / Intel HD Graphics 4000  513 MB / 450 GB Free space
Desktop specs: iMac (2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz / 296 GB Free space
I'm feeling like a tech moron though as I am not sure about finding this information, "Frame size, frame rate, video codec, audio codec, sample rate."

  • Export a Final Cut Pro XML file problem about translation issue

When I export the final cut pro xml file, there is always translation issue like that 'Transition <....> not translated, Cross Dissolve used instead.'
Most of the transition type can cause the translation issues except the wipe and cross dissolve.
Is there any body knowing the reason? Is that OK?
By the way , I am using the trial version of cs5

    Hey Ani_,
I've been working with Adobe products for a long time and typically when you come across an error that has anything to do with a XML file export problem its due to things such as effects you may have added in, color corrections, cross fades or any type of video transitions between clips. Remember your work flow should be
Import your footage into Premiere Pro
Name your clips (helps find things later on)
Place clips on time line in the order you wish (ONLY MAKE CUTS don't add anything, transitions color effects nothing)
Then once your clips are all placed on the timeline in your correct order you then EXPORT> Final Cut Pro XML
Now you can bring this into other programs for color grading or whatever else your going to do.  You will notice you have no errors on the export.
Once your done doing what your doing to the clips in another program (for example: Divinci Resolve color grading) you can then export them back to your main project then add your effects and transitions.

  • Final Cut Pro X crash problem on export.

Hello. Okay so I am running Final Cut Pro X Version 10.0.6 on a Late 2011 Macbook Pro 13-inch with 2.8 GHz Dual Core i7 processor, 4GB RAM. At the time of the export I am not running any other applications.
I had begun exporting in 1080p HD with Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) which kept repeatedly failing. However having lowered this to 720p HD with both 1280 x 720 and 920 x 720 resolution, and changing Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) to H.264, I am still without luck on my export.
The export runs for a while before completely freezing up and crashing Fina Cut Pro X entirely, at the moment it gets to around 41% before crashing.
I get a report telling me that it crashed on Thread 26. Here is a copy of the Thread 26 crash in case anyone out there can understand this:

  • Final Cut Pro- Video stops exporting at 33% in H.264 format to a USB.

I have made a video using Final Cut Pro which is 51 minutes in length. Some of the clips were filmed using iPhones, whereas some of the clips were filmed using a Sony phone. The clips have all been placed together using Final Cut Pro and effects+music have been added. When I try to export the video to a USB in the format of H.264, it reaches 33% then just disappears from the background processes box. I have repeatedly tried to export the video to different places to see if the USB was the issue, but it keeps stopping at 33%. I looked at a forum which said some people had an issue whereby they found a clip which was dodgy and had to be deleted for the video to successfully export. I tried to delete the correct video clip to see if that worked, and the export then reached 37% but then stopped. The issue could be that the clips filmed on the Sony phone have to be deleted in order for the video to successfully export, however I would rather not delete all of the clips as they are an important part of the video. Also, the video must be able to play on a TV so I have some USBs which are 16GB as the video is 8.9GB. But is H.264 the correct format? Please help!

That depends on the television set (s). There is no universal standard. Definitely check the TV manual (s).

  • What codec do I need to view a native Final Cut Pro video file in Quicktime

Greetings all. My video editor provided me with a video file in the native Final Cut Pro format to save time as he could not convert to a .mov file. He said that he is able to open it in Quick Time Pro. I tried opening it in Quick Time Pro but I can just hear the audio. I am guessing it is a Codec issue as I my operating system is Vista (sorry!), and therefore I don't have Final Cut Pro installed. Any suggestions regarding what I need to do to be able to view the video in QT would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
My ultimate objective is to open it in QT Pro and convert it to a QT Movie, so I can then convert it to Flash Video for online streaming.

Ask the creator to send you an H.264 version of the file. The current file can't be viewed on a PC and there are no PC versions of the codec.

  • Final Cut Pro Video Playback not in Widescreen for Anamorphic Material

I have a Panasonic DVX-100B hooked up to my computer and am running Final Cut Pro. I shot everything in the anamorphic squeeze mode. When I play this material back through my camera (which displays the material as widescreen because I forced it on the camera menu) it doesn't playback on the TV in widescreen, it stretches it back out vertically. Is there a setting in Final Cut that will send the signal as a 16:9 signal to the TV, so that it will understand it correctly?

    baadayakazi wrote:

No, FCP does not send out an anamorphic flag via firewire. What I mean is, it sends out the video to your deck simply as 720x480, without telling the deck (and therefore the monitor, as well) if that is supposed to be a 16:9 or 4:3 image. In order to monitor with the correct ratio, you'll need to have a monitor that can correct for aspect ratio.
If you're working on a pro monitor, it should have a 16:9 button (or menu setting, at least). Some recent - as in the last 4-5 years - consumers TVs also have an anamorphic squeeze feature that will compress the image vertically. If you've got a 16:9 TV, you'll need to use the stretch feature (of all things) to correct your preview image.
All that said, I'm guessing you fall into the last camp: you're previewing out to a consumer TV that cannot do vertical compression? If so, your only alternative is to nest your anamorphic sequence in a 4:3 one for preview purposes. Of course, this is needlessly cumbersome (and you run into the dreaded issues with nests failing to update every now-and-then) and requires more CPU horsepower. Either that or edit with the distorted image...
Or are you in a whole 'nother situation?

  • Final Cut Pro X / Compressor problem

Hi, I have a Panasonic HDC-SDT750 and have imported a video to Final Cut Pro X 10.0.5
I have sent the video to Compressor 4.04 and used presets for apple tv 3G - 1080p
Everything went fine except that some parts of the .m4v are like these very bad YouTube videos where you cannot see anyhting, like
theres some fog over the picture.
    Can anybody help me, please?

Export to media and look at the file. Is it OK?
    Can you answer this please?
Your original media is 720p and you're blowing it up to 1080p? Don't do that.

  • Final Cut Pro 'dropping frames' problem

Hi. I have a macbook, version 10.6.8 - I am trying to use Final Cut Pro version 6.0.6 and am having problems with the 'dropping frames' issue. I know you can get rid of the message, but does anyone know how to solve the problem, as when it comes to exporting the film I won't be able to? Is my mac too small/old to use this version of FCP? If so, is there anything I can do to rectify that? (that doesn't involve buying a new mac!)
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks.

    #12 Dropped frames on capture/playback
Shane's Stock Answer #12:  Dropped frames on capture/playback
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58640
    1) Do not capture to your main system drive.  Since it is busy reading the operating system and application files, it will intermittently drop frames during capture.  Capture to a separate internal drive, or external hard drive (firewire and eSATA for example).
    2) Deactivate any anti-virus/filesaver software, including Norton and Virex.  For some reason these programs think that the large files created when you capture media are in fact caused by some sort of virus, and they try to prevent this.
    3) Check the format of the drive you are capturing to. It should be Mac OS Extended, journaling off. If it isn't, copy your files from it and re-initialize it.  If it is any other format, you will encounter problems. If not at first, then eventually.
    4) Trash the FCP preference files.  Use PREFERENCE MANAGER to do that, available here:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com
    5) Make sure that the hard drives you are capturing to are fast enough to handle the footage being captured to it.  A regular firewire 400 drive cannot capture uncompressed HD, or even uncompressed standard definition.  A RAID array of drives might be in order for these formats.

  • Final Cut Pro X effects problem

    Hi all
I have two computers with Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9, on these two computers the effects will not show when I skim over them in the thumbnails, and if I apply them to the clip, they don't show at all. If I try applying one of the generated texts FCP crashes, and I have to quit the programme.
The problem seems to be the same as described here, but the solution does not work.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4971527?tstart=0
On one of the computers that do not work, I do not have the XAVC/XDCAM Plug-in by Sony (PDZK-LT2) installed. The other mac has the plug-in installed, but deleting it, does not solve the problem.
Is there anybody out there, who could have another solution to the problem?
    Thank you for your help.
    best
    Mathilde

The FCP X sound effects were an additional external download and were not kept in the FCP X application.
You probably need to re-download them.
In the FCP menu at the top left of your screen you will see the download link.

  • Final Cut Pro Videos

I am using Final Cut Pro to edit my videos and the files are so big that after I export using QuckTime Conversison it takes forever to uplaod to YouTube. Does anyone know something I can do to upload videos faster?

I do it exactly the way you do it. Export the video using "RealTime Conversion" . The videos must be less than 10min though. When you import to YouTube, it does seem to take a while per video though.
    Good luck !!

  • What is the song used as backing for the new Final Cut Pro video ad?

Nothing to do with the application itself, BUT just stumbled across the new video ad that Apple have released for Final Cut Pro. Really, very impressive - check it out....!
Question is: Can anyone tell me the name of the band / song Apple are using for the soundtrack of the video? Would love to order it up on iTunes.....
    Cheers!

Thanks Brian, I was only half joking. I've been wondering how I'll get used to them in the edit suite.
I've lost glasses when they were sitting on top of my head. I can't imagine trying to keep track of 3 pair. Fortunately my CRT/LCD vision is the same poor quality as my Drive In Screen vision so hopefully the bi's will let me read scripts while editing without getting a pounding headache.
    Enough of this old guy talk, we're going to start depressing people. (;

  • Would I still be able to fun Final Cut Pro with no problem with the new 13"

My old MBP has "NVIDIA GeForce 860M GT with 128MB" and the new 13-inch MBP has "NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics" I don't really know what "GT" means, but the more expensive MBP's listed have it, so I'm guessing it's pretty good. I was wondering if I'd still be able to fun Final Cut Pro quickly if I got the new 13-inch MBP.
Back in 2007, the guy at the Apple store said I'd have to get a MBP instead of a MB if I wanted to fun FCP correctly, and now both the MB and MBP use the same graphics chip, so I'm wondering if FCP will still function correctly on the new 13-inch MBP?

    Eric wrote:
Incorrect about what? I never made any statements, just questions. According to the Apple store, the Macbook and 13-inch Macbook Pro both use the same chip, which is the only statement I made. And which is why I'm wondering if the new 13-inch MBP can even handle FCP since the MB can't (according to the guy in the Apple store).
Actually, your original question was formed as part of a statement:
now both the MB and MBP use the same graphics chip, so I'm wondering if FCP will still function >correctly on the new 13-inch MBP?
And that's the part that BoyHowdy pointed out that you are "a little incorrect" about. While it's true that they both have an onboard 9400M graphics chip, you are overlooking the fact that the 15" & 17" MBPs also have the much more powerful and dedicated 9600M GT graphics card. This is not an insignificant difference. Final Cut Pro, not to be confused with Final Cut Express (not you, others have confused the two), requires a dedicated card which the 15" & 17" MBPs have in the form of the additional 9600M GT, but the 13" still lacks.
The specs on the Final Cut Pro page are a little confusing because while it says it *will not work* with integrated graphics, it specifically refers to Intel, and does not mention Nvidia. However, it still says it requires an AGP or PCI Express card, which the 9400M is not.
My feeling is that even if it runs, the performance of Final Cut Pro on that system will be unacceptable, and will ultimately drive you mad. It really pushes the graphics systems hard, and despite their vast improvement over the pathetic Intel onboard graphics systems, the 9400M is still pretty anemic for high end work. You're better off saving a little more money and getting the low end 15" model. Not to mention, the extra screen real estate makes a huge difference with the very crowded Final Cut Pro UI.

  • URGENT HELP : FINAL CUT PRO AND IDVD PROBLEM

Hi there this is serious. I shot footage on a sony hdv z1 as 50i and imported into final cut as apple pro res 25p, edited then exported out as apple pro res 25p. The footage is 16mins and the file size is 10.67gb.
The aim of this project is to go to dvd for my client.
Now when i watch the footage in quicktime it plays back perfect and looks really good.
So I imported the footage into the latest IDVD used a very nice custom menu but when I play my source material into the window as a preview I am getting alot of jittery lines e.t.c?
What is causing this and better yet what is the solution?
More info I was shooting a girl band at a photoshoot and the photographers camera was constantly flashing, this is where the lines in the footage really do show up on IDVD. Remember in quicktime this is not a problem and plays back perfectly.

if you shot 25p and edited in 25p, you should not be having a field order problem. And if you have the option of changing the field order, then you didn't edit in 25p. If you edited in 25p the field order of the sequence should be "none". Maybe that is your problem. If you have an "upper" or "lower" field order in your sequence settings, change that to "none'. Also, if you are importing your QT movie into iDVD and letting iDVD compress it you are not doing yourself any favors. YOu should use Compressor and Studio Pro, as the aforementioned post states.

  • Final cut Pro video exporting

Final Cut video exporting stuck in 5% and I don't know what to do .

    Cancel the export.
Go to Preferences and turn off Background Rendering.
Select your project in the library and in the File menu, click on Delete project RENDER Files; choose All when prompted. Select your event and do the same with the event RENDER files. In the project use the range tool to select a short section. Try to export that as a test. Don't render before you export.
If that doesn't work, copy the project and paste it into a fresh project. Try another export test.
    Good luck.
