Final Cut Pro: Audio has gone Missing!

I imported .XML files to Final Cut Pro X. I am using a cannon plugin to convert files. The sound is evident until the clips become 100% imported and then there is only sound at the beginning of each clip but not the rest of it. Where do I find the sound?
P.s. Both the dialogue and video boxes are both checked.

Is there a way to AB roll as in Final Cut Pro which has multi cut

There is another workaround that enables you to see 2, 3 or 4 videos simultaneously and make decisions about where to cut from one to another.  It's not the exact same thing as FCP's multiclip feature but it does work.
Download & install Piero's QuarterPIP filter.  Place each of your videos on a separate track (up to 4).  Apply the QuarterPIP filter to each, placing each video on a separate quadrant of the canvas.  (You may have to sync their placement on the track if there is common audio among them.)
You can then play the timeline and see all 4 videos simultaneously in the Canvas.  You can then place markers and make cuts & deleted unwanted portions of selected tracks as desired.  The limitation is that you can't just cut from one track to another on the fly as you can in FCP - you have to actually cut & delete the portions of the video tracks that you don't want in the final video.
When you are done you can remove the QuarterPIP filters and will be left with one resulting video.

The floppy drive is a horrible analogy. One could still use the external floppy drive, as you say. But what your analogy is ignoring is that at some point that floppy drive option will disappear as a later OS rolls out and the floppy drive is no longer supported, however the other people I am innvolved in working on a project need me to have a floppy drive to pass along my work.
Yes, I can use FCP7 as I need to for the time being (and will do so) but you can bet that won't be the case for all that long. Eventually the ability to use FCP7 will decline as OS changes etc. In the meantime you can bet that the broadcast and film world is not going to change their delivery specs and requirements simply because Apple decided to change FCP to X and ditch the genuinely PRO features of FCP7. There are too many Avids and other options for them to decide that they will change just because a portion of the professional editing world has been forced into Apple's way doing things. They will simplu say, "Get an Avid . . ."
So the floppy analogy not so accurate.

  • Final cut pro audio missing from clip once i move it from viewer to canvass?

hi i'm new to final cut pro 7, when i play my video in the viewer i can hear the audio loud and clear however when i'm move it to the canvass and play it in the time line the audio is gone? can someone pls help me

Probably best to ask this questio in the FINAL CUT STUDIO forum and not the FCPX forum, BUT -- since you're here...
Make sure that the AUDIO PATCHES are connected to the timeline... those are the pluggy arrow type looking things on the left side of the timeline.  With the clip in the viewer window add it into the timeline.  Audio should come with it.
Or - do you already SEE the audio tracks on the timeline and you just can't hear it?  (if that's the case, try opening the audio mixer and making sure the master volume is up.
    Good luck,

This is the quick and dirty way of doing it. Read the manuals (FCP, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro) for more information.
Control-click on the sequence name in your Browser in FCP, and select Export > Using Compressor. The sequence name will then show up in Compressor. Select the sequence name that just showed up, and then on the top of the screen select one of the DVD:xxxxxx settings for your project. I would recommend the Best Quality options. You will see 90, 120, 150 minute options. Pick the lowest that you can without it being shorter than your sequence. For example, if your sequence is 92 min, select the 120 min option. You will need an MPEG setting as well as the Dolby setting. Once you have selected your presets, set their destination - use Desktop for now. When you have selected the Settings and Destination for the sequence, Click "Submit" on the lower right of the screen. Batch Monitor will pop up, telling you the progress. When the job has completed, open up DVD Studio Pro.
Once DVDSP loads, you will see on the left side of the screen two large icons in the Graphical tab window. Select each one, control-click on it, and select Delete. Now click File > Import > Asset and choose each one of the files you encoded to your desktop. You should have an MPEG and a Dolby file. They will then show up in the lower left of your screen in the Assets tab once you have imported them. Select both at the same time, then simply drag them to the open space in the Graphical tab. It will create an icon like the ones you deleted. Control-click on the new icon, and select First Play. Put in a blank DVD, and then go to File > Burn. Once this is done burning you will end up with a DVD that you just put in your player and it will automatically play.
Like I said, this is quick and dirty. Read the manuals, play with different settings, and get comfortable with each application.

  • Exporting Final Cut Pro audio for importing into Avid via OMF

    Greeting Colleagues
I'm just wondering if there are any special consideration when creating an audio OMF in Final Cut Pro for importing into a PC based Avid edit suite.

  • My Final Cut Pro X project went missing

I recently downloaded the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to my Macbook Pro and spent eight hours editing a video yesterday in one continuous session.
When I tried to share it to my desktop no files ever showed up. I tried a bunch of different formats and it all went fine until I pressed OK - nothing ever came out. So then I quit and restarted my computer, and now the whole project is gone. Like it never existed.
It may be that it was exporting in the background (I just discovered that on this forum) but in the eight hours it never saved once??
Is there any way I can recover my project? I need to submit it tomorrow morning. I'm nervous that I'll pull an all nighter to redo the video and it won't share again. Is it worth me purchasing the full version?
Any advice in the next few hours would be appreciated!!

You are correct. However, I don't need luck...there's no such thing.
I did find, by the grace of the universe, that by monitoring increasing memory pressure caused by FCPX over time, archiving older projects, frequently backing up projects (from within the library .fcpbundle) quitting FCPX every so often, and deleting prefs before relaunching, FCPX runs smoothly, no longer crashes my system, and projects no longer disappear.
    Good "luck" to you!

  • Final Cut Pro X - Resource Drives Missing

Final Cut pro X is unable to simultaneously access multiple mounted Firewire 800 drives in a chain...  While internal drives are always accessible...
    http://youtu.be/MNCfTsxJUcw
Any ideas, reasons, and/or solutions are appreciated...

On any of those 5 drives you tested Tom did you by any chance have an EXACT duplicate event folder?  Because in my case FCPx will display exact copys of PROJECTS on two drives but it will NEVER display two exact copys of EVENT folders.
If I unmount a drive it will show the events on the remaining drive.  If I unmount  the drive FCPx just fininshed using (and finding the event folder) and remount the second drive FCPx will then see the event folder and happily use that data.  FCPx will NEVER display both event folders if they are both mounted.
If it was a problem with the Firewire bridge as you claim then I would not expect FCPx (or for that matter even OSx) to be able to see both project folders at the same time.
Screen capture shows two drives.  Finder can display both Project AND Event folders.  FCPx can display both project folders but will only display ONE drives Event folder at a time  .....  ???

  • Final Cut Pro System support folder missing

I downloaded a cool plug in for a aged film look but I cannot find the "Final Cut Pro System support folder" in which i have to place this plug-in.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, Final Cut Pro X has challenges uploading videos to You Tube

Since upgrading to Mavericks OS X, when I upload a video from Final Cut Pro to You Tube it takes several tries to upload. The error message is: "Unable to share video to You Tube, Network Connection Timed Out (or Lost.(" On average it takes at least four tries. This absolutlely did not happen before the Mavericks upgrade. Any help would be appreicated.

Typically people who run old OS versions hold on to them because certain software versions are most stable on that OS. (Or because their hardware doesn't support later versions.) And they are loath to try and do anything to disturb that eco system – accepting the fact that they are running a system that is no longer supported by the manufacturer and often the applications' developers.. For whatever reason, you disturbed that eco system by reinstalling the OS..
Final Cut didn't upgrade itself. It's just that the version you had that was "running like a dream" is no longer available from the App Store…for your OS.
If you want some ways out, either: restore the app from your system backup; upgrade your OS to at least Mountain Lion and you may he able to download an older version of Final Cut; or create a separate bootable volume and install a later OS that will support 10.1.x.

  • Final Cut Pro Audio won't play

I am making a slideshow with final cut, and every now and then I run into a song that won't play audio. I looked at the audio levels on the clip and they just aren't there. The music will go into final cut from itunes, but the actual audio isn't there. It works well when I play the song (in Itunes, or out of the final cut music and sound menu), but not when it is in the video. This only happens for a few songs though, any help??????

    Hi Druw77
I have had that for months and months , I have found now a quick way to get around it, but it's not a solution is to press cmd f12 at the same time and then hit render again. I should get you around the problem for awhile but I suspect you need to reboot the software as i have done on many occasions!
Sorry no one has helped me with the solution has yet and seems to be a problem with a few editors I know as well.

  • Final Cut Pro Audio Levels Low when exporting to mp3 and mp4

Hi everyone!  When I export audio from Final Cut as an mp3, my levels are very low.  When I export footage as an mp4, the audio is low as well.  But before exporting, my levels are right at or below 0.  So they are where they should be.  So for example, when I open the audio in Adobe Audion or Logic, they could almost be doubled before peaking within those programs.  Could this be a compression issue?  And input would be helpful.  Thanks!

Are you working 0n 10.0.9? If not, update FCPX and see whether that solves the problem.

  • Final Cut Pro Audio Problem

We recently had a problem with mastering a digital beta tape using FCP 3.1.
The final audio mix was brought in as a wav file. Playing the file through quicktime, worked fine, however there were very specific sound FX that would not play back through final cut or our system. I even exported the clip from FCP and made a movie in the Black Magic Decklink codec. That file played the auido just fine from the desk top, however when I brought it back into FCP, and tried to lay it off to tape, the same SFX dropped out of the sound track.
So we isolated the sound that wasn't working, and brought it in. The same problem persisted. We then exported the sound file so that instead of having audio in only one channel of a dual channel audio file, we just made it a monochannel sound, and put it in one channel only of our time line.. and THIS WORKED!
So I have a fix, but its the problem that we dont understand. We need to make sure that this sort of thing doesnt lead to larger problems in the future and would really like to get to the bottom of it. If anyone could help us out with this please do!
    -A

Betcha dollars to doughnuts it's a phase problem. This explains the reason it works in one channel and not in both.
Suggest you invite your audio guy over and play it for him on your system. And let him fix it for you.
WHERE in the chain of events this originally occurred is the tricky part. But it ought to be fun sort of mystery to unravel if you've got the time before deadline to get it properly sorted.
Good luck with it. Let us know.

  • Final cut pro audio output through firewire

    Hi,
At present I'm using my macbook pro for video playback in an in house broadcasting studio.  I'm sending my video and sound through firewire into a Canapus ADVC110 box and then I split the audio into my sound board, and my video into a video mixer.  Unfortunately, I'm only getting one track of sound from FCP.  Do you know how I could get both tracks going through the firewire?  I'm hoping it's a simple solution.
    Thanks

The problem is that I'm not sending it through speakers.  I'm sending it into a mixer, that broadcasts to both televisions and simulcasts out of the headphones into a PA system.  I broadcast out of a school.  The problem is that the mixer only sees one side (audio track 1)   It doesn't see the other side.  However, if I hook a dvd player up to the same plugs on the mixer, it sees 2 sides.
Everything is cool for most presentations; however, when students do voice overs and they only go to one track, it may not be heard through the mixer.
Remember, my hookup is as follows:  macbook pro - firewire - canopus advc110 video converter - then the video goes into a anologue video mixer (panasonic AG-MX70) but the sound gets split and goes into a audio mixer.  The problem is that the sound out of the canopus box gives me only one side.  I've tried replacing every cord, firewire, plug, etc, and the result is the same.
To survive the next few days of presentations, how do I send out a mono audio signal from my macbook, instead of a stereo audio signal????
