Final cut pro enters into fastforward mode automatically

hello friends !
i am using g5 having 10.4.5 as os and fcp 5.0.4
the problem i am facing is fcp enters into fastforward mode automatically after specifically 25min. it occurs during capture mode or edit to tape mode.it occurs for all the job or projects.
i have deleted the preferences, fcp is re-installed but in vain.now the only option for me is formatting but i think its some setting related issue.
video card used is decklink with latest driver update.

so can I assume you are using "Capture Now" or otherwise capturing clips greater than 25 mins in length ... and equally that you are laying off sequences greater than 25 mins in length?
this is certainly not an inherent problem with FCP. it sounds more like you have a specific hardware issue or software conflict.
on your system, have you tried this with multiple decks/cameras, or is this happening with only one specific one? if you haven't already done so, try to borrow another camera or deck and see if the problem disappears ... if it does then it would seem to be an issue with your camera/deck not playing nicely with your FCP setup.
similarly, do you know anyone else with FCP? you might try to see if the problem can be repeated using your camera/deck on someone elses setup.
aother thing you can test is to create a new user account on your mac, log in to it, open fcp and see if the problem still occurs... that would suggest that you have some software conflict in your normal user account, where some third party software is interfering with the correct operation of FCP (of course this is not exhaustive as it may be something that you have installed which runs as a background process accross all accounts)

The GPU in a iMac is NOT upgradeable.
You should check to see if your model of iMac meets the minimum specs to run FCPX.
I believe that your GPU is NOT OpenCL capable, and hence not supported.
Even if it works, you would probably get marginal performance.
What you can do is download the trial version and see how (and if) it works.

  • Why my final cut pro is in photo mode? (Photo is appearing on the top of my timeline)

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
My final cut pro is in photo mode. over my timeline (middle left of the screen) , there is the icon movie and next to it the word "Photo". When I export my edit to Compressor i can use only the photo format and not the video even if im working on a video sequence. it is not recognized as such. it is weird.

Let face the evidence I have to make some progress with FCP
Because the FCP X UI is so accessible, and because people can accomplish a lot of tasks intuitively, new users often try an intuitive approach to learning the application.  However, FCP X is actually a deep/complex app and making the effort to get some structured training is a good investment (IMO). There are books, video tutorials - with and without practice exercises - and, of course, classroom learning. Lots of good sources for that, including Lynda.com, Ripple Training, Larry Jordan, the Apple Pro Training from Peacjpit. Many contributors here recommend Izzy. Tom Wolsky, who is the top contributor here is a teacher/author with info on his  site. All of them offer some form of samples so you can see who's style best fits your needs. Do a search.

  • Converting a Final Cut Pro project into one Final Cut Express HD can read..

Is there any way I can convert a final cut pro project into something i can open in an earlier version of final cut, namely final cut express HD?

    Tim,
Unfortunately you can not go from FCP to FCExpress. You can go backwards from say FCP7 to FCP6 or FCP 5 using XML's. The XML version depends on which FCP you have.

How do you import final cut pro projects into imovie?
(like you create a project in final cut but i want to save it, and import it into imovie..

    Hi -
Mr. Ross is right, there is no direct way to export your project with all it's elements into iMovie.
If, on the other hand, you have a completed sequence in FCP that you want to export as a finished element, then import into iMovie for you to re-edit or apply titles, music, etc. you would:
    In FCP:
Click on the Sequence Icon you want to export in your browser.
Go to the menu File > Export > Quicktime Movie. Give your movie a name a navigate to where you want it stored. Make sure you choose Settings: Current Settings and have the Make Movie Self Contained checked. Click Save.
    Close FCP and open iMovie.
    In iMovie:
Go to the menu File > Import > Movies and navigate to the movie you just exported from FCP. Choose if you want your movie imported in it's original size, etc.
Click Import. Your movie will be imported into iMovie.
Note that using this method only gives you only the elements that made up your FCP sequence, so this may not give you the flexibility you need.
    Hope this helps.

  • Second hardrive / final cut pro x help

I have imported camera footage into my Final Cut Pro X and it has automatically saved onto my Hardrive. I want to make a back up too. I've been told to make a copy to a second drive. How do I create a second drive/Split my hardrive? (I'm worried my external hardrive wont be fast enough/have enough space so assume this is the best way to do it)

Then you need a second, bigger, faster external hard drive!

  • Any ideas on why Final Cut Pro won't install?

I tried to load in my version 6.0 of Final Cut Pro Academic into my computer at my music school and at the point when I loaded in the disk after "Audio Content 3", I think it was "Studio Pro Content" or "Motion" disc (sorry I can't remember which disc) a black sort of veneer came over the screen and said, "You must restart your computer"...
It was in a KP crash I think because all the fans were going crazy and all I could do was hold the start button for 6 seconds and the computer shut down. I had a problem loading in LOGIC Pro once and the fix was to repair permissions. So I did that and then restarted and tried to reinstall Final Cut Pro but at the same disc the computer went into a crash. I have recently done checks of my RAM and all 4.5 GB seems to be fine. I checked all my system requirements for the Final Cut Pro software and I have more than enough of everything. BTW I have a PowerMac 2.7 Dual with all the latest OS, and current downloads, etc.
Obviously the disk could be bad but the full software, all disks, loaded fine on my home computer. Could it be that I should totally uninstall Final Cut from my computer at the music school and try again? Any ideas - thanks!

hey i may just be talkin out my arse here, but r u sure yer comp has ALL the requirements to run final cut pro? if its hd, it might require more stuff that u dont have yet. we had to go out and buy a new mac with all the requirements that cost over like a 1000 bucks, so make sure u have all the requirements. we thot a good mac wud be sufficient, but no, it needs to be like one of the best macs there is!!! here they are i think: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs.html good luck!

  • Final cut pro HD 2 not working with new updates

recently purchased a new imac. Most of my old programs were not supported. I updated to 10.9 from 10.5. Now, all the programs are running except Final Cut pro HD 2. I get a message sayin"power pc applications are no longer supported" Any suggestions? I read in an old discussion (from 2011) that I might need to download Rosetta?

I do not know which version of FCP the OP is using as I do not recognize his designation of Final Cut Pro HD 2.
However, last weekend I attempted to install Final Cut Studio 2 (Final Cut Pro 6) into Snow Leopard installed in Parallels, as a test.  It failed!
Final Cut's installer suggested the following problems: not enough VRAM - 64 needed; 0 present (even though Parallels is set for more than the minimum required VRAM); and a missing video card.
I attempted to work around this problem by using Pacifist to install FCS2, which worked, as far as the installation was completed.  However, when I attemped to run FCS2, a dialog box came up with indicated that same two problems and then it quit.

  • Final cut pro -dvd pro

How do I transfer my final cut pro project into dvd pro to be exported?

i can't get the firewire output to the beta deck. have an ADVC-110 media converter. so the setup is firewire (4 or 6-pin, have tried both) video/audio output of the mac, into the canopus, then from the red/white/yellow outputs there is a stereo pair of RCA cables with XLR adapters going to a Beta SP deck. I've gotten other signals in and out of the decks and input/outputs on the canopus. problem has definitely been narrowed down to the mac, or final cut pro. i've set every setting i can find to apple firewire but still can't get it. any ideas?...

  • Importing final cut pro 7 to final cut X using XML

OK so I just read Apple's new FAQ and it says support for XML is forthcoming. Couldn't someone enterprising individual   just write an app which transforms FCXML from FCP 7 to FCP X XML. There could be some data loss, but better than nothing..

    the black sun wrote:
But they have said they will not be supporting import of FCP 7 projects. Sad but true.
    Factually incorrect. Sad but true.
Tell me what is factually incorrect? There is absolutely no mention or commitment to providing any sort of tool to bring in final cut pro 7 projects in any shape or form. They could have said "a limited import tool is being worked on, but will only support a limited feature set, and data loss/changes to your project may occur." But they didn't. Here's the exact quote from Apple's FAQ (emphasis added):
Can I import projects from Final Cut Pro 7 into Final Cut Pro X?
Final Cut Pro X includes an all-new project architecture structured around a trackless timeline and connected clips. In addition, Final Cut Pro X features new and redesigned audio effects, video effects, and color grading tools. Because of these changes, there is no way to “translate” or bring in old projects without changing or losing data. But if you’re already working with Final Cut Pro 7, you can continue to do so after installing Final Cut Pro X, and Final Cut Pro 7 will work with Mac OS X Lion. You can also import your media files from previous versions into Final Cut Pro X.

  • Final Cut Pro X.  Delete automatic markers/keep manual markers.

Final Cut Pro X.  I added markers to my project. I created a DVD by clicking...
    Share-DVD-Burn.
When I play the DVD & use my remote to skip, I expected to skip to each spot that I had marked.
However, when I skip using my remote, it skips every 30 seconds.
I read someplace that Final Cut Pro X enters automatic markers every 30 seconds, but I can't find how to prevent this.
How do I prevent or delete the automatic markers and keep the markers I want to have in my project.
Please make you answer very SIMPLE.  I'm not really a computer person.  I used to use Pennacle Studio 11 and wish I had not switched but it's too late.  I have way too much money tied up in this now.  HELP!!!

So after many nights of rendering and trying different codecs here's what I've discovered:
Essentially, it's a timecode issue. FCPX is not playing nice with the timecode on the original DV footage.
How did I come to this conclusion?
I took a folder full of clips that were crashing FCPX. These are standard definition DV-NTSC clips in .mov containers.
I took this folder and transcoded to DV again and also converted to ProRes LT using both MPEG Stremclip as well as Compressor. All the footage from MPEG Streamclip worked fine in FCPX but the clips from Compressor kept causing the crashing issue. The difference between the two program is that Compressor retains the timecode of the original footage but MPEG Streamclip throws it away.
I was really hoping to retain the timecode since I have the original FCP7 project that I could reference to easily re-cut everything together. Looks like it's going to take a little more legwork if I want to start editing now. Not sure if this is something that FCPX will fix.

  • How can I automate log and capture in Final Cut Pro

Does anyone know of a way to schedule the log and capture of video in Final Cut Pro with a script or software application, so that it doesn't have to be done manually?
I am using a capture card in my Mac to record college lectures for our department and it's not always possible for me to be there to start the capture. Our lectures occur on a regular schedule.
I am a new Mac user and I'm also new to Final Cut Studio 2. Thanks for any help on this topic!

In Automator, all the apps you can automate are listed in the far left hand pane. Click on the QT Player icon there to see the "Actions" available for it. In that list you should see "New Video Capture" and "Start Capture". First drag "New Video Capture" to the big pane on the right, where you assemble your workflow. Then drag the "Start Capture" action beneath that. You're basically done.
How to Save and Schedule this can be found in the Automator Help, when you search on "iCal":
    1. Choose File menu > Save As Plug-in.
    2. Choose iCal from the "Plug-in for" pop-up menu.
    3. Click Save. Automator opens iCal and creates an event that calls the workflow at the scheduled time.
    4. Name your event and set the date and time for the workflow to run using the pop-up menus in the info drawer.
You'll need to do another "workflow" to Stop the recording. All you need is the "Stop Record" action in the workflow - then save the same way as listed above.
Just note - I've used this process before and the QT movie generated, despite being recorded as "Camera Native" - was not editable in FCP. In fact, I don't even think I could import the final QT into FCP - let alone edit it. If editing's necessary maybe someone else can offer up another step to enable it. It was not necessary for my exact application, so I never explored it.
    Good luck.

  • MOD files and final cut pro

I am having an issue with importing files from a consumer hard disc drive JVC camera that works with MOD files. I want to somehow rip the files so they will work with final cut pro. Does anybody know of the right software for the job and where it can be found? Hopefuly for free!

<<You may want to invest in a software converter (flip4mac, for example) that will ingest your avi files into FCP.>>
This may turn out to be an option, but it isn't that FCPro won't accept the avi files; it's just that it gave me this warning that I didn't understand. If, as a previous posting said, it's just telling me that this wasn't imported via Final Cut, then 'no big deal'. If it's telling me something else, that's yet to be discovered.
<<If your friend saves the files as DV NTSC, they will still give you that warning when you bring them into FCP. DV NTSC may mean DV stream, which will have to be demuxed (the audio & video are mixed together) and is not easily editable. However, QT pro can demux these files for you.>>
It'll be an interesting 'experiment', and I'll be sure and post the results.
Curiously enough, iMovie imports these same files without blinking, and seems to convert them on the fly as it were to .dv files, with no apparently loss of quality. These can then be imported into FCPro/Express.
<<About the only thing that doesn't give a warning are files captured using FCP ....>>
If that's all it's tell me, that I didn't capture these using FCP, then I guess I could say it's telling me something I already knew. <grin>
    Thanks for the input.

  • I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Pro

I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Project that is HD, and tried reconnect media with original HD movies (video), the sequence project got distorted for all the text, shapes used and all.. everything changed its orientation and scale.. Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes.  A couple of ways that might work.
    First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence.  Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c).  Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted.  Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort.  That should maek things work.  What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence.  That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
    Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline.  You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.
