Final Cut Pro Foreign Language Menus

I have OSX 10.28, originally a Japanese version, with Final Cut Pro 4 Japanese. I can switch my OS into Japanese, English, Spanish and others, But Final Cut Pro I can only switch Japanese and English. No Spanish, nothing!
Now that I am in America, does the English version of Final Cut Pro 4. switch into Spanish? Does the Eng.Ver.FCP4 switch into Japanese?
Someone running FCP4 could you check for me if those languages come up in the English version, that would be great. This all happens in the International settings of the System preferences, drag the the language to the top. Then the menus changes into the foreign languages, after the program has been closed and reopened.
Adobe acrobate, Text editor, Keynote all switch into all three but fcp4 does not. What's up?
Thank you in Advance

Normally Apple apps are all the same in terms of the localizations included -- i.e. there are no Japanese or English versions. You can usually check what a particular app offers by doing Get Info on the icon and hitting the languages tab. It may be that FCP4 only had a couple of localizations and that later versions have more.
PS This note indicates FCP4 only does English, French, German, and Japanese:

This is probably a stupid question, but I like to very sure before I click on things.
So, I am going to download the free trial for Final Cut Pro.
At the download page it asks that I enter my location so that support emails will be in the correct language etc.
Well, I'm in Japan, but i dont speak Japanese properly yet, so should i just enter my location as England? As I'd want any comunication between Apple and myself to be in English.
It would be much better if the request was for 'prefered language' rather than location. Then i wouldnt have to ask this question.
But I don't want to cause any kind of confusion on Apple's side, so i'd like to be accurate and check with the support forum before I click download.
    Thanks.

  • Most of my drop down menus showing faded black after installing final cut pro x.. Any ideas?

I recently just installed final cut pro x on my computer. After installing it and rebooting, I noticed that my login picture was faded and orange looking and my drop down menus fonts are thick black text instead of the normal and certain menus are faded and blackened out looking. Any ideas? I have a Macbook pro 2.4GHz core 2 duo with 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 running Lion 10.7.3  ...
The only thing i can think of is the final cuts pro software that maybe did it because nothing else was installed or downloaded.
Furthermore, is there a good software that Apple suggest as far as cleaning your computer and optimizing it's performance? I DO NOT want Mackeeper or any of that mess.
    Your help is appreciated

Appreciate your help Ian and others.   I have since uninstalled FCS and reinstalled FCXP only to get the same thing. Loading FCXP stalls at "Looking for Compressor Support".  When I first downloaded FCXP from the App store I didn't notice that FCS was being placed in it's own folder.  It's not something I did manually.  Although moved into it's own folder with FCXP on the same drive.  I was not able to open FCS apps. They would load and then "quit unexpectantly".  They opened just fine before I downloaded FCXP.  Do I need to purchase Compressor so that FCXP recognizes it? It seems this is where it stalls. It doesn't explain however why my computer "FREEZES" while doing this.  I am in the process of re-installing Lion to see if this helps, otherwise I am at a complete loss.

  • Changing language of Final Cut Pro

A friend gave me a computer that has Final Cut Pro 3 on it, but it is operating in French. Is there any way to change this? Thanks.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. It's not the computer, but that application. As if it was installed in French somehow, or bought there. Maybe it was...
    Thanks, though.

  • I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?

These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD  doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.
    Good lluck.

  • Final Cut Pro / problem with old Audio Units effects

    Hello,
Has anyone encountered this problem in Final Cut Pro:
I had a set of Waves plugins, but I installed a new set of them and deleted the old ones + preferences and anything connected to them.
When I start Final Cut, the program is asking "Where is Waves plug-ins folder?" and it is searching for my old waves folder...
I tried to look in the manual and in the program's pull down menus, but there's no answer offered..
I can get the program running though, if i click "cancel" for each of the waves plugins that used to be in the old folder.
    Any experiences? Help much appreciated,
    Eero

Archiving projects would certainly be a good idea. Unfortunately, I am editing a project which is the collaborative effort of a host of volunteers who made hundreds of shots spread across events that need to be kept available throughout the editing process. So, yes, we are pushing the application past reasonable limits. Still, the project is good fun.
As an experienced editor (Media100, FCP4-7, Premiere Pro), I would have been happier to have been able to continue along the FCP7 path. FCPX is not my cup of tea, apparently, even though, by now, I have become rather familiar with the application. FCP7 was quicker, more stable (yes) and gave me infinitely better control. Or at least a much better "sense of control" so as not to offend any supporters or fans of the new application. So that's just my personal opinion.
But I must admit that it is impressive to see how easy and enjoyable Apple has made it for even absolute beginners in video editing to put something decent together without much explanation or training. I have seen this with a few of the volunteers I am working with on this project. FCPX certainly has its merits, therefore, but you are absolutely right in your comment. We must try to keep our active (and actually mounted)  "Final Cut Projects" and "Final Cut Events" folders small, setting aside those which do not necessarily have to be available  in separate "parking" folders. For the next project (in general language, not FCPX jargon), I will bear this in mind myself. Cheers.

  • Any word about final cut pro and closed captioning?

Has anyone heard any news of Final Cut Pro dealing with the issue of closed caption for their software?

Close Captioning is done through/with DVDSP, not FCP. Not good news if you want to deliver on tape-- but great if you deliver on DVD<<</div>
    Todd,
Not exactly true ... While they may seem to serve a similar function, Closed Captioning and Subtitling are two distinctly different things. Subtitles can be used on DVD-Video and turned on or off by the user via the remote (or defaulted to on by the author). Subtitles are also used by film makers releasing their films in foreign language countries.
On the other hand, Closed Captioning is encoded into line 21 of an NTSC video signal. CC is received and decoded by TV sets (required on ALL TV sets sold in the U.S.) as mandated by FCC ruling several years ago and more recently required by law under provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Since it's inception, CC inclusion was a very expensive process and remained in the realm of specialized service companies for many years. With the recent passing of the FCC's deadline for almost ALL broadcast programing (with few exceptions) to be closed-captioned, I would think/hope that NLE vendors, like Apple, Avid and others would incorporate CC capabilities into their programs. There is one other CC software solution for Macs that I'm aware of available from: http://www.ccaption.com/

  • I need to buy final cut pro software  and i need it to support arabic writing the problem iam in germany  the  i tune here does not

i need to buy final cut pro software  and i need it to support arabic writing the problem iam in germany  the  i tune here does not give you chance to choose the
    language

If you want the menus and dialogues of the app to be in Arabic, that's not possible, there is no Arabic version of this software.
If you just want to write Arabic language titles, etc., the language of the app is irrelevant, the input of different languages is handled by the OS, and Arabic input is always available.
All Apple software is multilingual, no matter where you buy it. For example, the user interface for Final Cut Pro can be switched among English, Chinese, French, German, and Japanese.

  • Export through Final Cut Pro of .mov file results in non-viewable file...

    Hello,
I recently worked on a film and had asked for a .mov version of the movie so I could get an uncompressed HD version in case I wished to use it for my demo reel (video for actors).
I was present when the director exported it and he exported it from Final Cut Pro (the latest version) and he exported it as a .mov file.
Well, I just tried opening the video and it does not work. In Quicktime, the error message:
"The movie "movie.mov" can't be opened.
You may need to install additional software to open this type of file.
I'm thinking it might be a codec issue.
Do you have any suggestions as to how the movie should be exported so that I avoid this type of error message?
I tried opening the file in iTunes and I got the audio, but the video was black. Another clue that it's a codec issue.
I just need a high quality (as uncompressed as possible) file that I can then add to an editing program and insert into my demo reel. I need the high definition format to be retained.
As for the frame-rate, etc. I'm not sure. It was done with high quality and expensive video equipment and didn't use tape. I know it was high definition and widescreen as well.

Nope, I don't have Final Cut Pro on my system.
I clicked on Get Info and nothing about the codec appears.
    "Kind: QuickTime movie"
"Size: 1.99 GB on disc" (it is about 6 minutes long; that I remember)
    "Title: movie.mov"
"Last Opened" is the next and last thing that appears.
I tried opening it using VLC and the movie just stops and starts throughout. It plays for just a second and then stops and I have to keep clicking the "Play" button to get it to keep playing.
Actually, just now I tried it again in VLC and it just kept stuttering.
From VLC, I chose Media Information and under Codec Details, the following appeared:
    Stream 0:
    Type: Video
    Codec: MPEG-1/2 Video (xdvd)
    Language: English
    Resolution: 1920x1080
    Frame rate: 23.976000
    Stream 1:
    Type: Audio
    Codec: PCM S16 LE (sowt)
    Language: English
    Channels: Stereo
    Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
    Bits per sample: 16
Should I ask that the movie be re-exported using the ProRes codec???

  • Final Cut Pro issues in Lab environment

Ok so this one has me completely buggered.
I manage about 6 Mac Pros in a small TV Studio/Editing lab at a university. The Mac Pros are managed with an Xserve running server 10.6.2, using Open Directory for account management. All network accounts use a network Home folder, so any machine can use the same account and settings. The same server also manages a 25 machine iMac lab environment.
Each semester, we wipe the Mac Pros clean an reinstall the OS and Final Cut Studio. Last semester, the Mac Pros were upgraded to 10.6, and Studio 3 and we had no issues. This semester, a fresh installation of 10.6 was installed, as well as fresh Studio 3.
Now this is the problem we are having. Final Cut Pro 7 will not correctly create .fcp project files when users are logged in with their network server accounts. If you save the project to the desktop, or anywhere else in the Home folder, it creates a .fcp file, seemingly normal. But after the project is closed, the .fcp will not open again. Further more, a quick file size check shows the .fcp files are zero KB. Opening with Textedit shows an empty document, not even a single bit of data shows up.
But, Final Cut Pro 7 will create .fcp files perfectly fine on the local disk, or firewire drives. Local accounts also work fine. This problem only happens on network homes.
This is severely hampering the workflow for students using these editing stations, as they can't use their network home folders to save any data in Final Cut.
The strangest part, is it worked fine last semester. The same machines were running 10.6 and Studio 3, and the server has not been changed at all.
    Any clues?

    No problem Tom!
I didn't checked before but i solved thanks to your post... for some strange reason, the French language that i don't use, appeared in my language preference pane. I just added the English, and moved/deleted the French after it and FCP became English again!

  • Final cut pro x/DVD studio pro

A need an advice, I been using Final cut pro to edit my professional wedding videos and DVD studio pro to burn and make menus, can anyone recommend me another professional software to to create menus and burn DVD, my mac has an dvd drive built in, if I buy an external DVD burner drive, would I get better quality (on standard DVD's)

I don't know why you want to change because Studio Pro is about the best software available.
An external burner will have no effect on the quality of the DVDs.
If you burn large numbers of DVDs an external burner might save wear and tear on your built in one.

  • If i edit in final cut pro x, how can i create a dvd

What is the best DVD creator to download to create DVDs  from movies edited in Final Cut Pro X?

iDVD gets my top vote - it is no longer available from Apple, but still part of the retail iLife 09 or 11 versions available from online resellers. It offers customizable menus/themes which will give your creation a professional look. It encodes/authors and you can burn directly from it.
Second is Roxio Toast (no customizable menus, but many other features and an excellent burn software).
I've tried DVD creator and found it to be too simplistic. Then there is Burn (free) - it burns.
I use iDVD to "create" and Toast to burn.

  • Final Cut Express Vs. Final Cut Pro Vs. Adobe Premiere

    Hey all,
I just bought my first Apple computer and I'm loving it. I have worked with Final Cut Pro in the past and I really enjoy working with it. However, $1000 is a bit steep. I would like to ask what your opinions are on maybe getting Final Cut Express or Adobe Premiere Pro.
I have the trial of Adobe Premiere right now, but whenever I place a clip into the timeline, it needs to be rendered. This was never an issue with Final Cut on the computers at my school. I was wondering if you knew if Final Cut Express would have better rendering times and wouldnt need as much rendering. Also, it may be the graphics card in my computer. If you think this is the problem, can you provide me with a solid video/graphics card that I should look into?
    Thanks all,
    Kevin

I own all three programs actually - here's my advice.
Stay the heck away from Adobe Premiere. It is no where nearly as Mac friendly and for the price, just isn't worth it. I purchased it for the Blu-ray authoring capabilities of Encore, so that's all I use it for. The plus to Premiere is that it can edit some native formats that Final Cut Pro cannot. For example, native AVCHD as well as MPEG-2 in program streams. That being said, Encore is the best option for Blu-ray authoring at a reasonable cost that gives you the ability to modify menus, etc.
Final Cut Express is a great application - my only reason for having final cut pro was my need to edit footage at 23.98, 29.97, and 59.94 fps. FCE only handles 29.97 (and 25 fps). Final Cut Pro also gives you the ability to edit more footage natively. FCE only supports DV, HDV, and AVCHD, with the latter two being transcoded into Apple Intermediate Codec for editing. FCP supports a myriad of formats and allows native editing in HDV - although it still transcodes AVCHD. FCP also gives you access to the ProRes set of codecs which are significant improvements on Apple Intermediate Codec that offer high quality in transcoding and editing.
So the real question is, what are you going to be doing?

  • How do I achieve a high quality PAL SD DVD from Final Cut Pro?

From a PMW-EX1 camera file edited in Final Cut Pro I am unable to produce a high quality PAL SD DVD using compressor and DVD Studio Pro (tried multiple combinations).
Using Final cut pro and Magic iDVD I can achieve a high quality SD DVD with no changes in export. But am limited to the iDVD restrictions.
From discussions it appears using compressor and DVD Studio pro it is not achievable, it is very frustrating that the Apple product you have to buy is not as efficient as the free one?
If not possible then how do I access the encoded file from IDVD?
My Final cut pro sequence settings:
    General - Aspect ratio: HDTV 1080i (16:9) 1920x1080, square and upper(Odd)
Quicktime video settings compressor: xdcam ex 1080i50 (35 mb/s vbr)
    I

iDVD does everything automatically for you. With DVDSP and Compressor, all steps must be done correctly. The trade off is that you achieve better quality using Compressor over iDVD.
    1. First thing to do is export your sequence as an uncompressed interlaced 25i 720 x 576 16x9 Anamorphic QT.
    2. Determine your optimal bitrate by using a bitrate calculator. Here's a good one. Remember you need to account for all video on the disc, including motion menus.
    http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
    3. Bring your down converted QT into Compressor and use the manual settings set your bitrate. Also encode out a Dolby digital AC3 file. These files take up less bandwidth than uncompressed audio. Also remember to match your upper fiiled dominate filed order as well in Compressor. This must be consistent throughout the export and encoding stages.
    4. bring your encoded video and audio files into DVDSP and author
