Final cut Pro HD won't work on my new macbook pro! please advise!

Please assist as I desperatley need to use final cut for a project at work - deadline fast approaching!
I recently had a replacment laptop from powerbook G4 to a macbook pro. All the data was copied but now Final Cut won't work!
it gives a message like ''wrong graphics card' or ''graphics card missing''
please tell me how to get it to work or i'll go insane

Your best option would be to upgrade FCP...but if you can't, then you need to hack your current version to work properly:
#29: Need AGP Graphics card

You either need to either:
1) use the following hack -

or
2) Upgrade to FCP 5.1

  • Data transfer from 08 macbook pro that won't start up to new macbook pro?

i have a 2008 macbook pro which won't start up properly, although, it will will start up with the Ctrl+T command which to my knowledge allows it to become like an external hard drive.
my question is, which cable will i need to transfer data to my newer macbook pro that only has thunderbolt connections, and what are the limitations to the files i can move over? basically i need all my document files, iTunes files, and garage band files...

    1. You need a FireWire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter.
    2. All of your personal files can be moved over.

How are you trying to scan?
Where did you get the HP software (if you have it installed)?
Is this an upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 recently?
    How is the printer connected?

  • TS3528 What to do if Final Cut Express was installed after Aperture, on a new MaBook Pro Retina running OS X 10.7.4?

What to do if Final Cut Express was installed after Aperture, on a new MaBook Pro Retina running OS X 10.7.4?

Bear in mind 10.7 and FCE are not supported working together.
FCP X is the supported application for Lion.
Users find FCE can mostly work to not working at all with Lion.
You can dowmlaod a trial of FCP X from the App Store.

  • Can I use Final Cut Studio 3 - notably FCP 7 - on the lastest MacBook Pro (non Retina) (Z0MV-27-4GB-512-HRA Apple 15" MacBook Pro/2.7GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7/8 GB) running OS 10.8?

Can I use Final Cut Studio 3 - notably FCP 7 - on the lastest MacBook Pro (non Retina) (Z0MV-27-4GB-512-HRA Apple 15" MacBook Pro/2.7GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7/8 GB) running OS 10.8?  If not, is there a work-around if I have to revisit work done in FCS 3?

I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.

If you need to revisit them...that's why you install FCS3.  That's really the only reason I have that on my system, to revisit old projects, and to deal with clients who still use FCP 7.
You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL.  Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it.  Or you can buy Adobe CS6...but that just lacks enough to make it not quite tempting for me.  Premiere CC is spot on...but **** if I don't hate that subscription model.  But there's also Avid Media Composer.  But that doesn't do a lot of things that I used FCP and Adobe for...

I am using the same OSX 10.6.8  Works fine.  I akso use Page sender fax center to fax with but they just emailed me that once Lion is out Page Sender Fax won't work any longer. Guess I'll use the built in fax software

  • My ipod classic wont work with my new macbook pro?, My ipod classic wont work with my new macbook pro?

My ipod classic, (that I've previously used on another mac), is not working on my new Macbook Pro??  I've had all my music transered to my new Macbook, but can't upload anything onto my ipod :-(

When I tried the headsets again, they all work. I didn't have one of them plugged in far enough. I guess didn't want to breakanything. Thanks for your reply. All fixed!!

  • Does the wall charger for a 17" macbook pro work on my new Macbook Pro?

I searched for docs and specs but can't seem to come with anything. Does the wall charger for a 17" macbook pro work on my new Macbook Pro?

Well, obviously you have NO faith in me or you wouldn't ask.
Go to the Apple Store online. Search for laptop power products and look for Apple's replacement AC adaptors. One is the 60 watt model for MacBooks. The other is the 85 watt adaptor - now read this very carefully because it's in smaller, lighter print - which says for 15" and 17" MacBook Pros. Will you take Apple's word?

  • FCE won't open on my new MacBook Pro - says I need a Quartz Extreme Card

I just bought a new MacBook Pro Laptop, and since I was having lots of hardware and software related problems with my old one, I clean installed everything rather than transferring things through archive.
Anyhow, I was initially able to register and install FCE from the original disk and then downloaded and installed all available upgrades. I opened it up, tried "Log and Transfer" to upload some video I'd shot on my Canon Vixia HFS10, and it worked fine. I saved and closed, but now, next morning when I tried to open FCE to edit my video it wouldn't open. A "Minimum System Check" came up that said "This system does not meet the following minimum requirements: Final Cut Express requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme Capable Video Card." I'm pretty sure that my NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT cards meet the requirements and that Final Cut Express just doesn't recognize that they are much better than the minimum requirements it is programmed to look for. How can I fix this? I saw another thread on a similar topic suggesting that someone delete their FCE, and then perform a clean install, but that's effectively what I've just gone through, and I'm not in the mood to spend a couple of hours seeing if the same thing I just did fixes the problem I have now. This seems like something that would be an easy programming fix, probably a simple modification to a preferences file, but I wonder if anyone out there has the solution?

No, I have FCE 4 - should have said that - and it worked on my older Intel based MacBook Pro.
As it turns out, though, I think I've solved the problem, adapting a solution to a related problem I found on MacRumors.com. Don't know why this is necessary, but here's the solution I tried:
    1. right click on the FCE application icon and select "Show Package Contents"
    2. open the "Contents" folder and then open the "info.plist" folder in Text Edit
    3. find the line that says: "<key>AELMinimumQuartzExtremeCapable</key>," and replace it with "<key>AELMinimumGeForceCapable</key>", and then make sure that the next line says "<string></string>" without any number specified. Or, if you have some other kind of graphics card that you know is compatible, you could say what that is instead of GeForce. I found it doesn't work just to delete this line completely.
Again, I don't know why Apple didn't build in this flexibility when they updated their standard Graphics cards, but in any case this solution seems to work.

  • Netflix website won't load correctly on new Macbook pro.

The Netflix WEBSITE isn't loading correctly on my new macbook pro. The < > arrows used to scroll through movies on the homepage don't seem to be working. When you click/hover over them nothing happens. Also, the title and description box that usually appears when you hover your mouse over a movie isn't showing up either...and lastly the box where you can filter the movies you want to see in a specific category "Ex. "Dark comedies, Romantic comedies, Foregin Comedies etc.." isn't showing up.
Im assuming this is an issue with either safari or the macbook itself because I don't know what else it could be. I tried clearing all cookies,
cache, and history but it didn't help. The movies are streaming fine it's just the website that messed up. All other websites seem to be working fine though.

Probably a Java issue.  Try another browser and also try loading Java from www.java.com.  BTW, the current version won't run properly in Safari, so you'll probably end up running FireFox anyway.

  • Will Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 + Firewire 1814 work ok w new MacBook Pro?

I have Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 that I have never been able to use and an M-Audio Firewire 1814 and it has also not been working with my soon-to-be junked PC for quite some time.
I'm going to scrap my entire system and go back to Mac and buy the new MacBook Pro for the express purpose of using it with my Firewire 1814 running Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 (or an upgrade if there is one and I'm eligible to get it...?).
There are so many confusing instructions and tips out there and I just wanted to ask someone knowledgeable BEFORE I go out and spend $2,800 (that I don't have to begin with) that the laptop WILL indeed work with the above-described interface and software. I realize these are questions for M-Audio and Digidesign also (and I have asked), but in any case, I'm hoping you nice folks out there might lend me your expertise as well if you can spare a moment.
I did read on Digidesign's site that an external firewire drive or two would be ideal in use with Pro Tools M-powered. I haven't investigated enough to yet know how many firewire ports are on the top-tier new MacBook Pro, but I'm hoping it's enough to accommodate my 1814 interface and the externals recommended. (Or if you have knowledge/solutions/recommendations I'm all ears... help!).
If you know of any reason I shouldn't buy the laptop for use with the 1814 and Pro Tools M-Powere 7.3 as listed above, PLEASE tell me. I have an entire, very expensive PC system that for the better part of a year, has sat dormant because I can't get it to work with the interface and software without it creating noise and clicks. And no one was able to help me resolve this no matter how much noise I made and research I did trying to resolve the problems. And Pro Tools would always shut itself down at random during use despite the fact I have tons of RAM, disk space, a 2.13 GhZ processor, etc.
My hope is that a new (and portable-- something I also really need-- I plan to use this for performance as well with Ableton or similar... also interested in any information or opinions with regard to using the new MacBook Pro for that as well) Mac will resolve this...
That I'll just plug it in and everything will magically and easily work. I'd love to hear this is so. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    orrisimo,
I, personally, do not have experience with this, but I have a friend who uses Macs exclusively, running Protools with a MOTU box. He does this professionally, not as a "hobby," and he is very knowledgeable about all the ins and outs.
As far as I know, he has absolutely no problems with Protools, ever. I recall that he did have to hold off a bit in upgrading to Leopard because of initial incompatibilities, but all that is in the past. He uses an old iBook (still), an Intel iMac, and more recently a Mac Pro powerhouse, all with no problems.
I would expect that everything will work seamlessly, provided you get word from the various support people that your versions and models are all compatible. If you want me to ask my friend about anything or get definitive confirmation from him, I would be happy to do so when I see him next. Let me know.
The newest 15" Macbook Pro comes only with a single Firewire 800 port. All the ports have been moved to the left side of the casing, so space is at a premium. FW 400 devices can be connected using an adapter cable, but there is still just that one port. If you go with a 15", you might need an Expresscard FW card to connect your FW drives (not a bad idea, anyway, since even older multi-port MBPs use just one controller).
The current 17" Macbook Pro has not yet been updated to the "unibody" construction, and still has both a FW 400 and a FW 800 port (again, FW 400 devices can be connected to an 800 port with an adapter). What the future unibody update will bring to the 17", we do not know.

  • Why are none of my midi controllers not working with my new MacBook Pro?

    I am running OS X 10.7.3
None of my M-Audio midi controllers are syncing with my new MacBook Pro.
They are all class-compliant and willl work on Mac OS X without the need of a driver is what M--Audio has posted on there website for all of my controllers.
I am using the following midi controllers:
    Keystation 49e

  • Brother Printer HL-5250DN not working with my new MacBook Pro - HELP

Hello there, I just purchased a new MacBook Pro - I've had to use PC (yuck) for work and had an IBook which was great until the dog knocked it off the dresser ...... Anyway, so I've replaced it with the Pro and love it - of course. Except......
My problem is this Brother printer (HL 5250DN) which has been an absolute workhorse, but try as I might I can't get this Pro to print - unless I physically hook it to a USB port and print, which defeats the purpose of having a wireless network allowing me to print from anywhere.....
I have tried suggestions from previous posts (unzipping the gz files - resetting the printer) but still nothing works... Any other suggestions - I'm going nuts here and Brother help line can't seem to give me a solution that works... HELP..... I really want to get going (New Years Resolutions and such) on my new projects and am absolutely grounded with this thing....

Check the Dell website for compatible printer drivers you can download and install.
Once the drivers are installed, open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
Then click + to add the printer.

  • Will bootcamp work well with new MacBook Pro 15-Retina?

Am I going to have any serious limitations if I bootcamp the new MacBook Pro 2012 with Retina display?
How will Windows 7 (or 8) look on the Retina display?
Will the bootcamp installation provide Nvidia drivers for dedicated graphics chip?
    Any other limitations?

I just loaded win7 via bootcamp on the macbook pro retina and after you install the bootcamp drivers, you can actually scale all the way up to 2880x1800.  Text is obviously smaller but if you set the text scaling to 150% it is readable - still on the small side.   Everything seems to work after you install the bootcamp drivers. There is a nvidia control panel that you can access to adjust settings as well.  Like within OS X, you can drive the retina display plus 2 external monitors and have all 3 displays functioning.  There are 2 things that are a bit quirky - 1) the backlit keyboard always turns back on for me after I reboot even though I turn it off before rebooting and 2) it gets toasty - I installed core temp and with all 3 screens going, and just running Windows Update and browsing the web, cpu temps got up to 195F.  Lowering the screen resolution and unplugging the external monitors seem to bring this down to 145 or so so it seems it's related to the nvidia gpu pushing the extra pixels to the various displays.  It definitely runs much cooler under OS X.

  • Trackpad not working on brand new Macbook Pro 15" not retina,

I've just got from UPS my new Macbook Pro 15" not retina. It's the basic model, without upgrades.
I've plugged it in and turned it on to go through the setup assistant, but I had to do it with the keyboard and an external USB mouse, because the internal trackpad is not responding at all. Is it normal?
    Thanks!

That was the first thing I did. They told me that it was normal, but I don't believe them. They told me to wait until installation was complete and perform updates, and try after that. That's what I'll do, but I suspect I'll have to have it replaced.
Right now I'm migrating my old mac to this one. I'll update as soon as migration is complete.
