Final Cut Pro. How do I put three hours of footage on Idvd on one dvd?

I tried to put three and a half hours of video onto IDVD but it would not except because it was to long. How do I fit all of this footage on one dvd? Thanks.

ohhhh! I get to correct Shane (sort of)! In DVD-SP you can burn a dual layer disc (DVD-9). I don't have or use iDVD so I cannot say if it is dual layer capable.
Another option would be to use a stand-alone DVD recorder. Many have an option to increase the record time up to 4 hours, but quality WILL go downhill fast.

    What device?
    What format?
    How are you importing it?
Can you find the external audio with Finder?
Where is your destination file when you import it?

  • Final Cut Pro - How do I disable Pro Updates?

Recently I got rid of Final Cut, and I still get the Pro Updates prompts, which is starting to annoy me. How do I tell Apple that I don't need these updates?

You need to get the Pro Apps update. Helps you maintain the pro app hub.

  • Sending multitrack project back to Final Cut pro, how?

    Hi all,
I ve sent an entire sequence from FCP to Soundtrack pro for adding sound effects and that worked great. All video and existing music and voice over were sent to soundrack pro and i ve added my SFX on 4 seperate audio tracks.
Now i want to send the SFX tracks i ve created back into FCP since the project hasnt finished. How do i do this? ideally i want each SFX clip i ve added in SP to be placed on FCP timeline.
One way will be to export each track with SFX individually from soundtrack pro and manually import these into FCp but there are large gaps of silence between SFX clips and i these ll be counted as audio resulting in unecessary large audio files.
    Any ideas?
    many thanks

You could do it that way. You could also do an "export mix" from STP. This will result in an two track stereo aiff file that you can then bring into FCP to replace all the existing audio. I always use a duplicated timeline for this.

  • Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8. How to automatically move clips to the left?

I've upgraded to Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8, and there are differences from the earlier ones. How do I set my timeline to automatically move the clips along to the left when I delete a clip in the middle of my timeline?
I can't find an answer to this question anywhere?

The backward delete key should do that, The foorward delete key will insert a gap clip.

  • How to import footage to an external hard drive in Final cut pro X

I am having trouble importing footage from camera directly to an external hard drive in final cut pro X. When I go to import the footage, and select where I want it to be saved, my external drive is not even listed. It shows up fine on desktop and in final cut pro 7. I also unchecked the box in FCPX preferences of "copy files to final cut pro folder". Any advice is appreciated.

Nevermind, I hooked up my other external that is formatted Mac OS Extended that is used for time machine and FCPX recognized it fine. I guess I will have to reformat the MS-DOS harddrive to Mac OS extended as well.

  • Cannot see Users folder in Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 (after OS 10.9.3 update)

I have been working just fine with Final Cut Pro 10.1.1, on an hour long project with still and video content.
Yesterday, I received a new OS update to 10.9.3 and afterward, when I went to import some content into my project, FCP does not see the User folder. So I cannot find my documents, still photos, etc. or the motion project I had just completed to add credits to my movie.
My workaround was to copy the .MOV file from the Motion project to an external drive, where FCP can see anything I put in there... but it's very frustrating not to be able to import directly from my User drive, and have to copy everything to an external drive first.
Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas?
To be clear: When I click "Import Media" in FCP and select my main drive, I see only the following folders:
    Applications
A folder with a bunch of numbers (not the User folder inside)
    Library
    Lost + Found
    statistic log (dimmed)
    System
There used to be a "Users" folder, in which I could find my Documents, Photos, Movile

Open the AppleScript Editor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run:
do shell script "chflags nohidden /Users/" with administrator privileges
You may then need to relaunch the Finder.

  • Final Cut Pro X  does run extremely slow on the fastest macbook pro

So I bought the fastest MacBook Pro 2011 2.3 GHZ i7 8GB to start editing with final cut pro x. Even put in two Solid State Drive (vertex 3 max iops) (Vertex 3) 256GB.
So already to start and than the dissapointment. Final cut pro x is so slow that it is impossible to work with. constantly green image, movie freezes al the time. and the beachbal is constantly on the screen.
I must be doing something wrong but Can't figure it out. Editing the same files under Imovie is smooth without any problems?
Thanks for any help. starting to feel sorry that I bought a mac please change my mind.

  • HD to DV in Final Cut Pro 3

I have HD footage but Final Cut Pro 3 and am unable to open the footage. How may I down convert the HD footage so I may edit? Does the G5 come with software I may use for this?

Down convert in the camera to DV or purchase FCP5 to edit HDV natively.
    good luck.

  • I have a fairly new iMac wI now have iMovie events and Final Cut pro events that are duplicates.  Does that mean that all my video is copied onto my hard dive twice?

If I have video in imovie and final cut pro X, does that mean there are two copies of the video, one for each piece of SW?  If so, how do I get rid of the imovie events and keep only the Final Cut Pro X events (video)?  I don't want multiple copies of the same video stored on the hard drive.

If you import to FCP directly from the Camera or from a camera archive, you would likely import choosing Optimized Files which would go to a FCP event that is in ProRes 422 codec. This would be in addition to your iMovie Event which would import using the Apple Intermediate Codec. So you would have two copies of the same information. An AIC copy and a larger ProRes copy.
However, if you use FILE/IMPORT/iMOVIE EVENT LIBRARY, FCP will not duplicate the event files from iMovie. It will treat them as referenced files, and will point to the iMovie Event files in the reference. So there is no duplication. You will be editing Apple Intermediate Codec files in FCP.
However, FCP will create Event folders. In addition to the reference information, these will contain thumbnail files that are compatible with FCP, stabilization and analysis files that are compatible with FCP, as well as any intermediate render files that are associated with the Event.
So in this case, there is no duplication of the large event files, but there is some duplication of the small thumbnail files.
I have several terabytes of iMovie Events, which are now all available in FCP. Believe me, I would know if they were duplicated because all my disks would be full.

  • Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 - Choose another SAN location

I have just upgraded to 10.1.3 and Final Cut Pro still cannot update ALL my projects and events that are in the Old Final Cut Projects and Events on my 2T My Passport external HD.
I get a message that this location - My Passport - is not a valid and that I should choose another SAN location or folder.
I'm at a loss here. I have always been able to use the external HD when using Final Cut Pro.
I have watched Final Cut Pro how-to-update videos, have searched these discussions but to no avail.
    Any help most welcome!

I moved the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects out of the My Passport Old Final Cut Projects and Events. Now I don't get the message saying it is not a valid SAN, but when I try to update the Projects and Events I get a message that there was an error when updating and another My Passport Old Final Cut Projects and Events is created.
    This looks like Catch 22!
Is it possible to downgrade to Final Cut 10.0.9?

  • Transfer from trial to purchased version final cut pro

    aloha!
i got the final cut pro trial version... and started some projects in there.
now i purchased final cut pro.
how do i get my projects and clips to final cut pro purchased version?
    help!
    kristin

    Hi Kristinkshui,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  I’m happy to hear that you liked the Final Cut Pro X software enough to purchase the full version.   You will be amazed at all of the things you can do with this creative software!
The full Final Cut Pro X application will recognize the Libraries (and the projects and clips contained in them) that you created with the Trial Version.  By default, these libraries are in the Movies folder in your User Account on your Mac, unless you chose an external hard drive to store this data.  So, all you should have to do is launch the new Final Cut Pro X application and you should be able to pick up exactly where you left off.   Once everything is working with your purchased software, quit Final Cut Pro X, and delete the FCPX Trial by dragging it from the Applications folder to the Trash.
The video below will provide a quick overview of what Final Cut Pro X can do:

  • Final cut pro to quicktime to idvd

Ok, i did my project on Final cut pro 4 HD and put all the markers for chapters like i was supposed to. I then exported to a quicktime format. In quicktime, it read the markers and created the chapters, but when i imported the quicktime movie into iDVD 5, My chapters don't show up or work. I worked and worked, but i'm out of ideas, any help?

I spent my Christmas vacation battling this issue, except that my QT movies were reference movies from Avid Xpress Pro to which I added a chapter track, which iDVD 5 proceeded to ignore. I figured out that I could add a single 'kgit' atom to the moov and make it work.
I know, that sounds like Greek. Without the "r".
Here, I wrote it all up back in January--
    http://capital2.capital.edu/admin-staff/dalthoff/qtchapters.html
What I learned is that once the QT movie has the magic atoms in it that make iDVD recognize the chapter tracks, it seems that all of those rules about where you can and cannot put your chapter markers in iMovie can be safely ignored.
There is a pre-release version of Metadata Hootenanny out there that will add chapter markers to a QuickTime movie AND set the atoms so that iDVD will recognize them properly. There is a link to it on my page (referenced above).

  • Final cut pro 10 forced quit but last edited version not their

how do i recover my last version of editing in final cut pro? wdorked on it 6 hours and then crash ad it didnt. save ?

So restoring from a back up works quite differently in 10.0.9 than in 10.1.
You go to your project folder and open Backups to reveal the Time-stamped BU file. Hide the CurrentVersion. fcpproject file and promote the BU file to the same folder hierarchy level prviously occupied by Current Version. Rename the BU file Currentversion.fcpproject. Open FCP X.
