Final Cut Pro & Leopard Spaces quirky behaviors
I have spaces enabled in Leopard. FCP assigned to space 1, Safari and Mail to space 2 and 3.
For some reason, the keyboard shortcut for Save All in FCP has stopped working. I can only select it from the menu.
When I hit "CMD-S" to save the project, the Canvas window moves down to space 4 and shifts my view to space 4.
Other times the Canvas window moves down to space 3 and shifts my view to space 3 when I try to save my project.
Already tried trashing FCP prefs.
Yes, in the Spaces preferences, under Application assignments, I have Final Cut Pro set to open in Space 1, Photoshop to Space 2, Mail to Space 3 and Firefox to Space 4.
The only workaround I've found so far is to set FCP to open in all spaces. Now when I save, I still see the popup that shows when you switch to another space, but I can continue working with FCP without interruption.

Final Cut Pro 5 on Snow Leopard
Hello,
I'm really not sure if this has been answered by others, but so far, everywhere I look I'm either not seeing the answer I want, or it's a different platform. I have a MacBook (Aluminum, Late 2008) Model. It originally came with 10.5 (Leopard). However, recently, I'm not too sure how long ago, I upgraded my Leopard to a Snow Leopard because there were some things that weren't working on 10.5.8 anymore. But now, my old faithful, my Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 (Academic Ver.) no longer works right =( I can still open the application and I can also play my rendered files. However, when I want to edit my clips in the slug, the audio plays, but the video doesn't. I've tried many things already, and I already have all the codecs that I need for the application to work. Unless, having 10.6.8, screws things up? Is it really true that I can't use my Final Cut on Snow Leopard now? (From all the posts that I have seen.). I really do not want to part with this program, also mainly due to the fact I have no money, and I am comfortable with the program.
But the thing that is really weird is that my sister had a MacBook Pro that came with Snow Leopard already, she installed FCP 5 on her computer and it works fine. So how come it won't work on my computer? Is it because I only have a MacBook and not a Pro?
Your feedback would be most appreciative. Thank You.How did you install it? Perhaps a required QuickTime or Pro update is missing. Ideally, one installs from the installation disk and then run Software Update until there are no longer any available, repair permissions and start editing. I assume that you can get what you need from Software Updates, but have no way of verifying.
If you reinstall, use Digital Rebellion's FCS Remover to may sure that you delete all the many files that Christoph refers to.
Good luck.

thx, macmacmac give me prompt. He had an interesting trick for getting the OS X Lion 'only' plugin to work on Snow Leopard
To install the plugin on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 you have to temporarily change your system version number to Lion 10.7.2!
1. Go to HD:/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
2. Copy the file to the Desktop
3. Open the original with a text editor and change the string value of 'ProductVersion' and 'ProductUserVisibleVersion' to '10.7.2'.
4. Save & Overwrite.
I suddenly thought Apple said that Broadcast monitoring work on Lion OS X v10.7.3.I change system version number at once! Changing 10.6.8 snow leopard system version number to Lion 10.7.2!
ok,no problem. Restart final cut pro x,A/V output has appeared in FINAL CUT PRO X preferences and Window Menu
Enjoy it.HAHA!:cheer:thanks for the tip fan!

How to Free up Disk Space to export from Final Cut Pro to QuickTime?
I am using Final Cut Pro on a Mac OX10. When I try to export a Final Cut Pro project to QuickTime I get a message saying that I do not have enough disk space available. How do I free up additional disk space? (I am a little confused because I have already deleted more disk space than I am current trying to use)
Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Mac OS X (10.4.7)Might try restarting the computer, just to refresh the system's memory... be sure you empty the trash too... the new space won't show up until you do.

(final cut pro x 10.0.9 )After numerous troubleshooting tips, I am still getting the dreadful your disk have ran out of space, your events have moved or permissions have changed. This happened after I moved some files to another drive. They won't relink eventhough the files are there.

Leopard and final cut pro - distortion
Since installing leopard any audio file i export from final cut pro and then burn sounds distorted - other audio files i burn are fine - only the ones from final cut play badly. They sound fine on the computer but bad once transfered to a cd - any ideas why?
There is no registration required for OS X, so unless you mean returning to the Setup Assistant state Deep Freeze should work for you.
To return to the Setup Assistant at startup do this:
1. Boot to single-user mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
/sbin/fsck -yf
If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until you do. If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message, then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
mount -uw /
cd /private/var/db/netinfo
mv local.nidb local.old
rm ../.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
I believe this will not work in Leopard. -
If I update to Snow Leopard, will final cut pro still work?
If I update to Snow Leopard, will final cut pro still work? My current version of Final Cut Pro is 6.0.6. Thanks.
Apple is not telling you the Complete story about Lion.
The installer for FCP 6 is Power PC code/ IBM CPU code, which Lion does not support.
FCP 6 is NOT Power PC code, it will run on Lion and Mountain Lion, as I have read on many posts.
The solution??
Solution condition where FCP 6 installed and upgrading OS to Lion
Do nothing, its already running OK
Solution condition where FCP 6 not installed and OS Lion installed.
Connect a firewire drive to your MAC and install the old OS on it (eg snow leopard) ,
Reboot to that OS
Install FCP 6
Reboot to your new OS (EG Lion)
Run FCP 6 -
I am trying to download Final Cut Pro, but it keeps telling me there is not enough space on my hard drive even though there is. Help?
I realized that my laptop only has 2GB of memory. It's a MacBook Pro 13in bought in 2009. Is it true that I'm able to upgrade up to 8GB of memory. Seems like 4GB of space is a lot for a single program to be running.. A bummer I'll have to save up for more memory.

I am having weird problems with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and it's functionality with Snow Leopard.
Based on feedback I found online, I am being told to delete the com.apple.FinalCut Preferences and the /User Data folder. Still, I have to do that repeatedly. Whenever I open the Project file externally , FCP jams. Afterwards, it won't start up again.
Also, it is claiming not to recognize an DVCPro HD 1080i60 connection ; although, this is the same camera on my G5 Mac with FCP 5.1.4 and OSX Tiger.
Anyone with the same problem know of any solutions?
Thank you much!!I have two computers -- one at home [a G5 Mac with OS 10.4.9] and one at my producers [ new Mac Mini with Snow Leopard 10.6.4 ] .
The computer with G5 / MAC OS 10.4 runs perfectly. The new computer is flaking out excessively however.
For Quicktime, I have QT 10.0 (114) -
I had Final Cut Pro installed on Tiger before upgrading to Leopard. I did an 'archive and install' and now when I open the program (or any other program like Soundtrack) it asks me for the serial again.
The software was a gift and I don't have the serial anymore. Any way for me to not have to buy another version? Help!!!Jason
Read Jon's reply to you here: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=5615750&messageID=6500028
If you did an "Archive and Install" then this file should still be accessible in your archived system.

Reason: image not foundThey only added Leopard support to the latest version (6.0.2) I'm afraid.
Per the following KB article, FCP 5.1.4 and above are supported on Leopard: Final Cut Pro 4.5: Not supported on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
To the OP: you did the correct thing by doing a clean install of Leopard, but you must also reinstall Final Cut Studio from the install discs in order to have a properly functioning copy. -
Problem: Final Cut Pro X inaccurately reports "Out of disk space", when I have 333GB free.
Trying to "share" the compound clip I've created as an mp4 1080p file.Editing MP4 media can create all sorts of havoc with FCP.
Convert the clips to .mov files – either Compressor or MPEG Streamclip will do that – preferably in Pro Res 422

Is final cut pro 6 compatible with snow leopard?
Is final cut pro 6 compatible with snow leopard? I don't want to upgrade the OS if I lose FCP.
DO NOT MAKE AN IRREVERSIBLE DECISION. You should clone your startup drive so you can quickly return your system to it's previous state if there's a problem. Although Nick is always right, do you really want to trust him (or me for that matter).
