Final cut pro not reading camera or mini dv player

My mini dv player jammed so we went to the canon gl2 to use as our vtr and final cut pro won't read it we tried our other gl2 and final cut won't read it we also tried to see if I movie would read the cameras or the machine and I movie would'nt recognize them either. Once I movie recognized the camera but would not control it or by running the camera manually. what happens when the fire wire cord is plugged in the program won't initialize. Any ideas?

What computer do you have?
Are you connecting your camera through external firewire drives?
The inability of cameras to easily connect via firewire comes up here daily, if not hourly. (facility with the SEARCH function located in the upper right of the forum is highly encouraged.) Canon cameras seem to bring their own special problems as well. If you have an iSight G5, you may have other issues ...
Try this as a troubleshooting sequence -
- Turn everything off
- If you have an external firewire drive, disconnect it.
- With only the Canon connected to the firewire bus, turn the camera on
- Turn on the Computer
- Open up System Profiler and look for the FIREWIRE section.
- Do you see your camera listed?
If no,
- you have basic connection issues - try the firewire port reset (do a search here on the forum)
- if you have an iSight camera - disconnect it and try again.
If yes,
- Open up iMovie and try to capture a short segement.
- Did it work?
if no,
- there is something potentially wacky with your camera settings.
if yes,
- Now open up FCP, make sure your firewire communication protocol is FIREWIRE BASIC
- Try to log a short clip and capture using Batch Capture.
- Did it work?
If no,
- you likely likely need to reinstall Quicktime. Search for 'quicktime reinstall' on this forum.
If yes,
- you may need to install a second bus for your capture drive. You do not want to be capturing to the system drive.

  • Final Cut Pro Sudio 2  Camera not recognized

I have Panasonic Model No. PV-GS400 camera. Its recognized in I Photo but not in Final Cut Pro suite 2. Is there a way to change any of the settings to capture camera in Final Cut Pro? Stock Doc
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Try changing your capture presets to one that matches your camera, and of course make sure your camera is in VTR/VCR mode. Make sure you are using Firewire.
If this doesn't work, run through the regular trash prefs, repair permissions, etc.

  • Import from Final Cut Pro not working correctly

I have a very simple project in FCP. (Ver 6) It is a HD clip that is about 5 min long with 7 chapter markers.
I exported the project as an XML file and imported that into Premiere Pro empty project.
I wind up with two assets, a .mov with same name as the .mov in FCP and a sequence with the same named sequence in FCP.
Right clicking on the .mov and selecting "New sequence from clip" creates a new sequence with the .mov on the timeline.
    There are no markers.
Right clicking on the sequence asset and selecting "New sequence from clip" creates another sequence with the same name and the .mov on the timeline.
The markers are inside the .mov and audio tracks, not up on the top ruler line where markers appear when manually adding markers.
The keystrokes to move to markers do not work.
The "Clear all Markers" function is greyed out , like it is when no markers exist.
If a "Dynamic link to Encore is performed, there is no markers in Encore.
If you enter chapter markers manually and look at the project file (an XML file) you will see indexes with the chapter points , durations and names as children named "Markers" with attribute"ObjectID='22'.under "//PremiereData"
Following , in sequential order, are subsequent objects "Markers", ObjectID='23" through "ObjectID=n
However, if you look at the project file after importing a FCP project, this same function occurs, except that it is "Markers" "ObjectID=30 with the indexes and marker data 31 through n (further down in the file). This area is empty when adding the markers manually in Premiere Pro.
FYI , the project file is littered with the word "Marker" and "Markers" throughout the file, only their attributes make any node unique.
I am at 99.9 &% finished with a VB program to create / modify nodes, values and attributes, except that the XML date changes format at the node named "//WorkspaceSettings" so I am not able to edit values to make a file that will not crash when opening.
I would very much like the import from Final Cut Pro to work, or someone explain how to work with the nodes under "//WorkspaceSettings"
    Thank millions for a solution.

It's a 2007 iMac with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.  I had been using Final Cut Pro without any problems right until I upgraded to Yosemite.  I'm hoping that upgrading to Yosemite doesn't mean I can't continue using Final Cut Pro - that would be extremely frustrating.

  • Regarding final cut pro and sony camera

    hi,
I have a Sony HDR-CX550/CX550V XR550/XR550V Digital HD Camera Recorder, and I wanted to know if the format that this camera shoots, will it be natively compatible with Final Cut Pro?
I would really appreciate an answer, as I need it asap
    Much thanks

I have the same camera, and I noticed that in Standard Def mode, the Sony HDR-CX550V shoots in MPEG 2 PS (not AVCHD)
    - Can this be natively edited in Final Cut Pro? If so, how?
    - Is this an XDCAM format?
    - If the Sony MPEG-2 PS can't be edited in FCP directly, what's the fastest / most space-efficient way codec for me to translate this to (for example thru mpegstreamclip)?
    Would much appreciate your insights-

  • .Mov from Final Cut Pro not playing on PC

I've made a short video edited with Final Cut Pro. The file was saved as a .mov QuickTime movie. The demo looked great on a Mac but it has to go to people who only have PCs.
Loaded the demo onto the hard drive of the PC, but the demo is showing poor resolution. It Loaded the latest releases of QuickTime, tried putting QuickTime in safe mode, tried re-setting the screen resolution and tried using different PCs. Still get the same fuzzy screen. Even tried saving the demo in different formats from Final Cut Pro, but still no better.
    Any suggestions? Thanks-- Foster

I have the same problem and need a good solution. On 2 seperate PC's. I believe (but don't know 4 sure) that it is something to do with Quicktime not using the Windows direct X environment.
You could try going into quicktime / Edit / preferences / quicktime preferences / advanced /tick the safe mode GDI only circle ... restart quicktime and try again.

  • Final Cut Pro not under "Purchases"

I bought Final Cut Pro this summer and I want to move the app onto my new computer, but when I go in the App Store it does not show up under "Purchases." I already deleted FCP off my old computer so I'm stuck with nothing. i checked other posts but none of those seem to help. Does anyone know how I can redownload FCP without having to repurchase the app?
    Thanks!

If you are logged into the App Store with the Apple ID and password that was used to purchase and the application does not appear on the Purchases page you need to contact the App Store.

  • Dvd created in final cut pro not working

I have created multiple Dvd's in Final Cut Pro X and never seem to have a problem. Yet with my most recent project I've run into a problem. The created Dvd's will not play on any of our dvd players, blue ray or regular player. The error message I am getting on some of them is "region not supported". But they will play on any Pc or Mac I insert them in. I burned the Dvd using the dvd function in Final Cut.
    Any advise?

For copy-protection reasons, DVDs (the video ones) have a regional "code" - for example, North America is region 1, and Europe is 2 (grosso modo). Computers for the most part ignore this, but common DVD players don't - so a region 1 player refuses to play region 2 discs, etc.
In old times, I remember that DVD drives that came with Macs were set to some region (presumably according to where they were bought), and there was a way to change it, but you were limited to some 5 changes, after which the drive would be locked at whatever "region" it was in. I don't remember how that region was changed, but it does look like the region associated with the DVD drive in your mac did indeed change, so as to make it different from your local one.

  • Final cut pro not working with Yosemite

I yesterday installed Yosemite and the previous version of Final Cut Pro does not work with it.  When I try to install the latest version of Final Cut Pro from the purchased tab in the app store, I get the message:  "Final Cut can't be installed on this computer because it requires at least 4 GB of memory".  When I go to the storage tab in "About This Mac", it shows that I have 154.49 GB free of 319.21 GB.  Can someone help?  Many thanks.

  • Final Cut Pro not recognizing Magic Bullet Quick Looks

Help! Lost my hard drive on my iMac, had it replaced, reinstalled Final Cut Pro Studio 2, downloaded MB Quick Looks again to reinstall. Final Cut is not showing it in the drop down effect menu like it used to. Can someone tell me how to configure FCP to see the MB QL again?

I can't remember what I did but I have a feeling it may be the penultimate suggestion on that list:-
+If you have recently re-installed your host application or OS, there may be a corrupt installation of one or both of these.+
I recall reinstalling the FCS 3 apps soon after the original instal but can't recollect exactly why! That is probably what got mine working again.
However, if you do reinstall FCP make sure you completely uninstall it first using FCS Remover

  • Final Cut Pro not accepting serial number??

I was working on a project just fine this morning. I close out and just tried to open Final Cut and it brought up the licensing window, so I put in the serial number and it says it's not a valid number. What happened??? Im on it for an hour this morning and now Im blocked out 5 hrs later?? I have Final Cut Pro 7.

I'm having the exact same issue as Chester Finney1. I would LOVE to know how you fixed it, because I can't seem to. If anyone knows how to fix this without needing to contact Apple, that would be fantastic!!!
I'm on a MacBook Pro and have Final Cut Pro 7. It tells me that my serial number is invalid for Final Cut Pro 7, Compressor and Motion. But DVD Studio Pro and Soundtrack Pro are fine.

  • Final cut pro cant read final cut express project

I produced a project on FCE on a powerbook G4. I transferred the files to a G5 to use final cut pro. When I start FCP it reads that the files are too new for it to open. I am running 5.0.4. Any thoughts?

I am not familiar with FCE, but if it supports export to xml, then you should use that option.

  • Does final cut pro x work on mac mini i5 2.3GHz

Hey everyone I'm a Mac newbie and i just bought this mac mini of course the cheapest one and now im wondering if i would be able to run final cut pro x on it        if i install 16gb of ram someone please help me out if not i may just return it thanks in advance

    short answer: it will
long answer; FCPX does perform well (for my needs), on my less-powerful MacMini C2D/2.26 with 8GB. so, the i5 plus its newer graphic card plus your 16GBs will 'fly'. you can improve performance even more with additional, external harddrives, to keep projects, events and system/app on physical diff. drives.
It's a kind of 'religious war' here on this board btw, the real professionals ("…only and just only  fw800 RAIDS work!"), and hobbyists like Ian and me ("my ol' usb drives support 6-angle-multicam too!") what kind of drives you should use ... finally, size-of-wallet decides

  • Final Cut Pro Monitor/TV/Camera hookup

How do I hook up my G5 dual core Mac to JVC monitor(Model # TM-R9U) through Sony DSR 200 DV Cam camera(used for my deck) and then to my Toshiba television with RCA and S-video Line 2 outlets. tv?
I want to watch and monitor my Final Cut Pro timeline through JVC monitor for color correcting, then watch the clips through the television to see what they look like on TV.
Sorry for the mess but I need to get this hooked up ASAP.
    Thanks a million,
    Julian

    #8 External Monitor Viewing.
    Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
VIEW>Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
VIEW>Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
    1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
    2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
    3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
    4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
    5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
    6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

  • Font Families in Final Cut Pro not recognized

I was curious if there was a way to allow entire font families to appear in the text tool in Final Cut. Currently only the name of the family shows up and when it is seleced Final Cut seems to arbitrarily choose one of the fonts from the family to display. I have tried this with OpenType, PostScript, and TrueType fonts, and all of them have this same problem. I am also sure that the fonts are installed correctly, as they all show up without a problem in every other problem. In addition, I have tried it on multiple machines and all have the same issue. I have also tried computers with fpc4, fpc4.5, and fpc5, along with a variety of fonts.
Is this just something that final cut does not let you do? is there any way around this other than making titles in an outside program and bringing them in as jpgs or the like.
    any help would be great
    Thanks,
    Tim
