Final Cut Pro Sudio 2  Camera not recognized

I have Panasonic Model No. PV-GS400 camera. Its recognized in I Photo but not in Final Cut Pro suite 2. Is there a way to change any of the settings to capture camera in Final Cut Pro? Stock Doc

Try changing your capture presets to one that matches your camera, and of course make sure your camera is in VTR/VCR mode. Make sure you are using Firewire.
If this doesn't work, run through the regular trash prefs, repair permissions, etc.

  • Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 not recognizing HDV deck

I have tried a couple different Sony HDV decks and my Final Cut won't seem to recognize them. I have made sure all the A/V settings are correct, i have restarted the software and the deck. Everything is set to 1080/60i, and it still won't recognize it. Any help please?

    Welcome to the forum!
You'll get good advice here and it's worth a visit even if you don't have a problem - you'll learn a lot from reading the posts.
This is a good workaround for curing your camera recognition problem with FCP (if that's what it is):
First, check that your Easy Setup / Timeline / Camera or Deck Settings are all exactly the same, then making sure your camera or deck is in VTR mode, try to capture again.
FCP uses a different form of QT than iMovie for capturing, so if the camera works in iMovie (or if it's listed in System Profiler) but not FCP, it obviously means your Mac can see the VTR but FCP can't, so you need to do this QuickTime fix.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852
Follow the instructions carefully and you should have things running in no time - it's quite safe but you must Trash the Receipts AND re-install QT from the link provided.
If the Camera / Deck isn't recognised by iMovie or System Profiler, try resetting the Firewire Bus . . . Turn off the Mac and disconnect the power and all Firewire cables. Leave it for 30 mins then connect back up.
Still not working? Try a different Firewire cable.
Failing all this, try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit). The method varies from machine to machine, so visit the Apple site and search for it in support.
Don't use iMovie for capturing - it doesn't give you a timecode and that's very important.
Let us know how you get on!

  • Can you upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with upgrade?

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with $699 upgrade?
I purchased Final Cut Pro 2 years back and then purchased the Final Cut Pro 3 upgrade. I have not used it in years, but now I want to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2. Is this possible by just purchasing the upgrade?

Apple's web page has the requirements:
    http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjects/BizCustom?qprm=78313&productLearnMo re=MA886Z/A
The $699.00 upgrade version requires a valid serial number from a commercial version of Final Cut Studio, Production Suite, or Final Cut Pro 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Academic and not-for-resale versions are not eligible for this upgrade.

  • Regarding final cut pro and sony camera

    hi,
I have a Sony HDR-CX550/CX550V XR550/XR550V Digital HD Camera Recorder, and I wanted to know if the format that this camera shoots, will it be natively compatible with Final Cut Pro?
I would really appreciate an answer, as I need it asap
    Much thanks

I have the same camera, and I noticed that in Standard Def mode, the Sony HDR-CX550V shoots in MPEG 2 PS (not AVCHD)
    - Can this be natively edited in Final Cut Pro? If so, how?
    - Is this an XDCAM format?
    - If the Sony MPEG-2 PS can't be edited in FCP directly, what's the fastest / most space-efficient way codec for me to translate this to (for example thru mpegstreamclip)?
    Would much appreciate your insights-

  • Final Cut Pro search window does not SORT.

I am an editor and I use Final Cut Pro everyday. I recently had to upgrade to LION because of a wonderful Quicktime update that corrupts
video codec files on Snow Leopard. So now that I have LION I can actually edit again. But, when I try to import files into Final Cut the
search window wont sort my files by date, name, etc...
It wont actually sort by anything. Every other program works fine for that, mainly After Effects. I have to manually go find files that I used
to give a certain naming system to because I could find them easily by typing in one word.
I also cannot search the Network anymore at my office which is a real pain. We dump all our finished projects onto a huge server. Now
when I need to find an old file I have to know the exact date it was made or else I have to go searching through every folder in our server.
Any body know of any way to fix these issues without having to rewrite code which I really don't want to do with my company computer.
Also our IT people refuse to learn anything at all about MAC computers which is SO helpful...

Im not sure what you are referring to. Maybe I didn't explain the problem correctly.
Final Cut seems as if it is not indexing the files. Most of the time it won't even show me dates (modified, created, etc...) just dashes. Then if I  do what you are describing and try to sort it at all it stays in the same exact order. I can't even sort alphabetically.

  • I cleared out a movie I made in final cut pro, now fcp will not open completely, I get the logo with all the names running through but never get timeline, browser or anything else?  Help!!  Larry

I removed a movie I had made and now when I try to open final cut pro, all the stuff shows up with the names, etc, but that is it, I don't get anything else, and, final cut does not show at the top of my computer.  I have the 27 inch iMac with the intel processor, any help will be appreciated.  Larry

Sounds like you may have deleted more than just the movie file.  It the FCP application in the Applications folder?  if so, try launching from there.  If not, you'll neeed to uninstall the app completely using this: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/  then reinstall from the original install discs.
You may want to first try trashing FCP's preferences.

  • Final Cut Pro Monitor/TV/Camera hookup

How do I hook up my G5 dual core Mac to JVC monitor(Model # TM-R9U) through Sony DSR 200 DV Cam camera(used for my deck) and then to my Toshiba television with RCA and S-video Line 2 outlets. tv?
I want to watch and monitor my Final Cut Pro timeline through JVC monitor for color correcting, then watch the clips through the television to see what they look like on TV.
Sorry for the mess but I need to get this hooked up ASAP.
    Thanks a million,
    Julian

    #8 External Monitor Viewing.
    Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
VIEW>Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
VIEW>Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
    1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
    2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
    3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
    4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
    5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
    6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

  • Final Cut Pro Academic Version Is not fully functional!

Could someone tell me if Final Cut Pro Academic is really functionally? I bought final cut pro academic and it appears that the program color does not work. The viewer in color doesn't work. Apple states that the only difference between academic and the normal version is that the academic version version is a non-upgradable version. But I don't believe this. I believe that you have to buy the standard version to get the full features. Could someone one tell me this is not so.

The academic version is Functionally 100% exactly the same. There are no differences feature wise.
The only difference is you can't use an upgrade with that serial #.

  • HT4775 Final cut pro tab share does not work with mountain lion V10.8

I have upgraded to mountain lion and since  than the tab share in final cut pro X is not working anymore.
    Any suggestions???  Thanks

Trash preferences and repair permissions in Disk Utility.
If that doesn't free Share up I'd drag app to trash, reinstall it and run repair permissions again.
    Good luck.

  • Final Cut Pro X: How to not get it to crash.

Most times when I use Final Cut Pro X, sometimes it crashes and I have no idea how it is doing that. Can you please do something that can help me stop Final Cut Pro X from crashing?

I found out that, according to digibudII, the maximum amount of RAM could be 6GB on my iMac. Even though the 8GB RAM was recommended to help Final Cut Pro X from not crashing, it would not work in my model.
I did, however, find some Memory upgrades for the model:

  • AppleScript: Final Cut Pro X library does not open! FCP X AppleScript reference?

I am trying to automate a few things within Final Cut Pro X. In the Apple Script Editor, in the list of Dictionaries (Library Window), FCP X does show up. But when I click on "Open Dictionary", nothing happens. Any idea why and how I could get around this?
I would really like to know, which FCP X functions are available from AppleScript. Thus, I don't necessarily need the Dictionary in the AppleScript Editor. Any other list would do as well. But I can not find some.
I checked whether FCP X is actually supposed to have an AppleScript dictionary by using the script mentioned on this page
    http://books.gigatux.nl/mirror/applescript/0596008503/applescripttmm-chp-12.html
    The answer is yes.

I am trying to find out the same thing, Till have you found an answer to this? Can you contact me directly please as I'd like you to help me with scripting.
