Final Cut Pro - Two Video Cards - Display Turns White

MacPro Xeon 2.0GHz
3 Gig Ram
Two nVidia 7300 Video Cards
Two CRT Monitors and One HDTV
I have two CRT monitors attached to my original nVidia card. I recently installed a second video card and attached a third monitor to my DVI output (on the second video card)
I tell Final Cut Pro to display video on third monitor as full screen output. I can see my 720p (or 480p) display. When I press play, the entire screen turns White. (I've tried a CRT monitor, and my LCD HDTV via HDMI to DVI).
If I remove my Right CRT monitor from my graphics card and attach my HDTV (giving me one monitor and one HDTV) I can get full screen 720p play back. But I don't want to edit with one monitor! I am wanting to have my two monitor editing setup with the third monitor as my full screen display (720p).
Why does three monitors result in a white frame for playback? Do I need to configure something?
Help!

Make sure the canvas or viewer are selected then go to VIEW>CHANNELS and set it to RGB. It might be set to ALPHA.

  • Can't export because of Error -50 but can't upgrade my final cut because of video card?

So I updated to mavericks later to find out you can't export in final cut pro unless you upgrade the software, my problem is that when I try to upgrade the software it says "you do not have the required graphics card"
So I'm stuck. What can I do? I Simply cannot export using any option  as I either get a compressor error -50 or nothing happens at all.
    I can't update the software. I can't export.
    APP NAP IS OFF

If the problem is with the graphics card then here is a list of compatible cards: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4664
What computer are you using? If it is an older Mac Pro 1,1 to 3,1 (early 2008) then the ATI Radeon HD 5770 should work. This is the one I've used and it has 1GB of memory. The more graphics card memory available the better. I read one account where a person had to go to 2GB of memory to avoid the spinning beachball but who knows what other resources he had tied up. For myself, I have a video-only machine and the Internet is disconnected when I'm editing and the 1GB worked perfectly fine. Oh, and with only 8 GB of RAM.
The 5770 cost $249 with free shipping about two years ago. Recommend not using a "flashed" card.
As for what to do for the interim, one suggestion would be to copy the Project to an external drive and find someone who would be willing to finish the share process. Other than that, it looks like you'll be dead in the water until the video card issue is resolved.

  • Final Cut Pro-Two Pictures Question

Is there a way to have two pictures in the same shot (not a transition from one to another).  For example, have two pictures in opposite corners in which you zoom in from one to the other?
    Thanks.

Of course. Place them in the timeline, one above the other (as a connected clip), resize and reposition them.
Set keyframes and let FCP X generate the movement in between.
I suggest you take a look at one of the video tutorials, like the one at izzyvideo, to familiarize with the basic operations of FCP X: http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/

  • Final cut pro overlapping videos

    Hi
I am using final cut pro to overlap two video clips together. (the idea of the video is a fashion shoot with the model holding a scarf one clip she is holding one pose and the second clip another and I want them to overlap) I have used opacity to overlap them but as I use this the video loses its brightness any ideas? Its the sky that loses its blueness and it doesn't really look as good as I thought?

You could try composite modes... right click on the clip in the timeline and change it's composite mode there.  Different than opacity... might take you a while to find the right one.  BUT... it also sounds like a roto job.  Hard to do in FCP, you'll need to do it in Motion instead.
Hard to tell from the description.

  • Final Cut Pro, Flash Video Encoder & Flash Player

Well, let's get started.... I'm getting real frustrated with
Adobe. I emailed them about this problem two months ago and NEVER
got a response. This is extremely unacceptable product support. We
just purchased the Creative Suite Premium two months ago and have
never gotten Flash Video Encoder to properly encode a Quicktime
video exported from Final Cut Pro.
I have heard from a few on the Final Cut Pro forum on
Creative COW that there is a bug with this issue between Flash and
Final Cut Pro. Adobe doesn't seem to care if I report it, so that's
    why I am here.
I create my program as usual, export a Quicktime file (not
reference video, but a full self-contained Quicktime). BTW, I have
Quicktime 7.2 on my Mac Pro Quad 3.0 with 8 gig of RAM. I open
Flash Video Encoder to make my flash files. Import the Quicktime
and select my settings which are custom. I set it to encode and
wait for the encoding to be done. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to
encode a 23 minute program. After the encode is finished, I check
the Flash file by opening it up. BTW, I also have installed a copy
of On2 Flix Exporter, which encodes Flash files, too. The On2 Flash
player is the only player that works. Adobe's Flash player opens
but it won't open ANY Flash files.
    Has anyone seen this?

When I try to import it on FCPX it says "None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again." and even on Compressor it either doesn't play and fails to convert, or else it plays only a the audio but once I've completed the process the outputted file doesn't play anything.
Here's a screenshot at my different attempts to convert it. I managed to get the record the video on VLC, but I can't record the audio so I tried getting only the audio form Compressor as well, but like I said the outputted file doesn't play any audio even though it's as long as the video (36 mins approx.).

This is the quick and dirty way of doing it. Read the manuals (FCP, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro) for more information.
Control-click on the sequence name in your Browser in FCP, and select Export > Using Compressor. The sequence name will then show up in Compressor. Select the sequence name that just showed up, and then on the top of the screen select one of the DVD:xxxxxx settings for your project. I would recommend the Best Quality options. You will see 90, 120, 150 minute options. Pick the lowest that you can without it being shorter than your sequence. For example, if your sequence is 92 min, select the 120 min option. You will need an MPEG setting as well as the Dolby setting. Once you have selected your presets, set their destination - use Desktop for now. When you have selected the Settings and Destination for the sequence, Click "Submit" on the lower right of the screen. Batch Monitor will pop up, telling you the progress. When the job has completed, open up DVD Studio Pro.
Once DVDSP loads, you will see on the left side of the screen two large icons in the Graphical tab window. Select each one, control-click on it, and select Delete. Now click File > Import > Asset and choose each one of the files you encoded to your desktop. You should have an MPEG and a Dolby file. They will then show up in the lower left of your screen in the Assets tab once you have imported them. Select both at the same time, then simply drag them to the open space in the Graphical tab. It will create an icon like the ones you deleted. Control-click on the new icon, and select First Play. Put in a blank DVD, and then go to File > Burn. Once this is done burning you will end up with a DVD that you just put in your player and it will automatically play.
Like I said, this is quick and dirty. Read the manuals, play with different settings, and get comfortable with each application.

  • HT5148 Final Cut Pro and video conversion

My question is about converting an WMV to a MOV file. WMV does not load into iMovie. Instead of me purchasing 2 different programs, does Final Cut Pro also convert files? Can I load a WMV file into Final Cut Pro

I sent another reply but to myself by accident, :
OK Tom, if you don't mind I have one more question. I'm new to editing so I'm trying to figure out my options. I'm currentlu using iMovie to edit videso and I've mastered that pretty well. I'm looking to purchase Final Cut Pro to try and do more advanced editing.  Right now I'm editing a lot of sports recruiting videos. I need to put an arrow or some kind of mark over the person that needs to be followed during the game. Do I have that option with Final Cut?

  • Final Cut Pro 7 Sound Card Problem...

    Hello,
Im not really sure how to even explain my problem but Im going to try because Im going nuts over here.
I just bought a mbox 2 mini and am using it as a soundcard. Usually everything works fine but sometimes when in FInal Cut Pro 7 the sound drops out completely and my speakers become silent with the exception of a "put...put...put...put..put" sound. Gradually gets softer until it dissapears...and then it gets loud again and repeats.
    Any ideas?

If your audio track has something other than a 48 Khz sampling rate, it will just beep beep on playback until you render it. I never heard it fade out and then get louder though -- possibly because I know exactly why it's doing that and never listened long enough??
I guess you will either have to wait for someone that also uses that device to read your post or mail their support people directly.
