Final Cut Pro Videos

I am using Final Cut Pro to edit my videos and the files are so big that after I export using QuckTime Conversison it takes forever to uplaod to YouTube. Does anyone know something I can do to upload videos faster?

I do it exactly the way you do it. Export the video using "RealTime Conversion" . The videos must be less than 10min though. When you import to YouTube, it does seem to take a while per video though.
Good luck !!

  • Final Cut Pro- Video stops exporting at 33% in H.264 format to a USB.

I have made a video using Final Cut Pro which is 51 minutes in length. Some of the clips were filmed using iPhones, whereas some of the clips were filmed using a Sony phone. The clips have all been placed together using Final Cut Pro and effects+music have been added. When I try to export the video to a USB in the format of H.264, it reaches 33% then just disappears from the background processes box. I have repeatedly tried to export the video to different places to see if the USB was the issue, but it keeps stopping at 33%. I looked at a forum which said some people had an issue whereby they found a clip which was dodgy and had to be deleted for the video to successfully export. I tried to delete the correct video clip to see if that worked, and the export then reached 37% but then stopped. The issue could be that the clips filmed on the Sony phone have to be deleted in order for the video to successfully export, however I would rather not delete all of the clips as they are an important part of the video. Also, the video must be able to play on a TV so I have some USBs which are 16GB as the video is 8.9GB. But is H.264 the correct format? Please help!

That depends on the television set (s). There is no universal standard. Definitely check the TV manual (s).

  • What codec do I need to view a native Final Cut Pro video file in Quicktime

Greetings all. My video editor provided me with a video file in the native Final Cut Pro format to save time as he could not convert to a .mov file. He said that he is able to open it in Quick Time Pro. I tried opening it in Quick Time Pro but I can just hear the audio. I am guessing it is a Codec issue as I my operating system is Vista (sorry!), and therefore I don't have Final Cut Pro installed. Any suggestions regarding what I need to do to be able to view the video in QT would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
My ultimate objective is to open it in QT Pro and convert it to a QT Movie, so I can then convert it to Flash Video for online streaming.

Ask the creator to send you an H.264 version of the file. The current file can't be viewed on a PC and there are no PC versions of the codec.

  • Final Cut Pro Video Import Crash Problems

Whenever I try to import video files into Final Cut Pro X the program crashes. I've tried numerous formats and nothing is working. If it does pull the video in and lets me see it briefly prior to crashing, the footage appears shaky and with bright green lines running through it. It does not look like this if you play the clip outside of FCP. I've used FCP to make videos within the last year without this problem and have updated as well as uninstalled and re-installed the software to see if that would helped, but nothing has worked. I am stumped and my client is getting antsy for a finished product. Please advise.

I've had the same problem on both my laptop and my desktop:
    Laptop specs: 13" MacBook Pro (2012) / 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 / 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / Intel HD Graphics 4000  513 MB / 450 GB Free space
Desktop specs: iMac (2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz / 296 GB Free space
I'm feeling like a tech moron though as I am not sure about finding this information, "Frame size, frame rate, video codec, audio codec, sample rate."

  • Final Cut Pro Video Playback not in Widescreen for Anamorphic Material

I have a Panasonic DVX-100B hooked up to my computer and am running Final Cut Pro. I shot everything in the anamorphic squeeze mode. When I play this material back through my camera (which displays the material as widescreen because I forced it on the camera menu) it doesn't playback on the TV in widescreen, it stretches it back out vertically. Is there a setting in Final Cut that will send the signal as a 16:9 signal to the TV, so that it will understand it correctly?

No, FCP does not send out an anamorphic flag via firewire. What I mean is, it sends out the video to your deck simply as 720x480, without telling the deck (and therefore the monitor, as well) if that is supposed to be a 16:9 or 4:3 image. In order to monitor with the correct ratio, you'll need to have a monitor that can correct for aspect ratio.
If you're working on a pro monitor, it should have a 16:9 button (or menu setting, at least). Some recent - as in the last 4-5 years - consumers TVs also have an anamorphic squeeze feature that will compress the image vertically. If you've got a 16:9 TV, you'll need to use the stretch feature (of all things) to correct your preview image.
All that said, I'm guessing you fall into the last camp: you're previewing out to a consumer TV that cannot do vertical compression? If so, your only alternative is to nest your anamorphic sequence in a 4:3 one for preview purposes. Of course, this is needlessly cumbersome (and you run into the dreaded issues with nests failing to update every now-and-then) and requires more CPU horsepower. Either that or edit with the distorted image...
Or are you in a whole 'nother situation?

  • What is the song used as backing for the new Final Cut Pro video ad?

Nothing to do with the application itself, BUT just stumbled across the new video ad that Apple have released for Final Cut Pro. Really, very impressive - check it out....!
Question is: Can anyone tell me the name of the band / song Apple are using for the soundtrack of the video? Would love to order it up on iTunes.....
    Cheers!

Thanks Brian, I was only half joking. I've been wondering how I'll get used to them in the edit suite.
I've lost glasses when they were sitting on top of my head. I can't imagine trying to keep track of 3 pair. Fortunately my CRT/LCD vision is the same poor quality as my Drive In Screen vision so hopefully the bi's will let me read scripts while editing without getting a pounding headache.
    Enough of this old guy talk, we're going to start depressing people. (;

  • Final cut Pro video exporting

Final Cut video exporting stuck in 5% and I don't know what to do .

    Cancel the export.
Go to Preferences and turn off Background Rendering.
Select your project in the library and in the File menu, click on Delete project RENDER Files; choose All when prompted. Select your event and do the same with the event RENDER files. In the project use the range tool to select a short section. Try to export that as a test. Don't render before you export.
If that doesn't work, copy the project and paste it into a fresh project. Try another export test.
    Good luck.

I export the using quicktime conversion, but when i try to upload it to youtube, it doesnt work. there was one tutorial that said i had to download 'FFmpegx', i tried that and followed the steps but all it said was "an unknown error was occurred" does anyone know how to properly do this?
    Thanks.

  • How to put Final Cut Pro Videos on Ipad

I bought my iPad for one use, to show my clients my videos when i do meet and greats. Yet for some reason i have had the hardest time being able to do this. I have tried exporting my videos ever which way but get the same warning that iPad can't play these videos.
So my question is does anyone know how to export videos so you can put them on your ipad and have them looking awesome! I would hate to return my iPad because i can't do this simple task! Thanks for the help!

    Hi Phinehas,
I have been doing this for a while for my clients. I chose a QT setting in compressor> under the encoding tab>file format>Quicktime movie>Extension>m4v>video compression H264, medium compression, multi pass>audio ACC 128 bit>Hinted streaming. Under geometry>Aspect ratio I use 600x300 or 640x360 and save your template. Hope this helps

  • Wishlist: Speach detection and recognition and for Final Cut Pro video clip

The next feature I want to see in the new FCP is speech detection and semi transparent text recognition in cartoon clouds that will spring up above audio clips waveforms, so I can decide where to cut my interview based on what is being said rather than the waveform itself. This Might be annoying, but helpful if you could turn them on and off for clips where speech is detected on import. The semi transparent text clouds should be "correctable" as we know the computer won't be 100% accurate. When an edit is finished, such as a news story, we should have the option to export the "script" This would be really helpful to the writers who write for on-air content of studio anchors, as they could instantly get B-roll script without it being transcribed and interrupting the editing process.
    Long live FCP!

This: http://www.getphonetic.com/get/index.html kind of gets you some of the way there.

  • Inserting Live Clock in Final Cut Pro Video Project

Does anyone know how to insert a live clock in FCP? I am looking for something like inserting a game clock for a sporting event.
I don't know if this is possible at all, but if so....any tips?
    Thanks

In FCP, how/where are you looking for it? It should show up two places:
    Browser window - Effects tab->Video Generators->Too Much Too Soon->Clock
Viewer window, near the lower right corner you should see a button that looks like a frame of film with an 'A' in it. Click that to reveal the generators such as text, mattes color bars etc. The Too Much Too Soon group should show up there.

  • Final cut pro video in 4:3, not wanted.

hi i am a FCP noob but i have created a video and the settings are: 2048x1556 at 23.98p and the video looks fine in the preview but when i go to full screen it goes to 4:3 and the same happenswhen i export it too. any help?

FCP only edits video in standard video frame resolutions. You can see them in the list of custom settings for a project.
Your media isn't in one of those formats so it's being made to fit into one of them. You have to select one that works for you and fit the media into that.

  • Exporting Final Cut Pro files

I have a 4 1/2 minutes video I cut on Final Cut Pro and exported it as a Final Cut Pro video... it's 1Gb. How do I export that video into a format that I can upload to YouTube (has to be under 100 megs) without losing all the clarity of the original file? Everytime I try to export it to a smaller file size, it is horribly pixelated and looks like a crappy camera phone took the footage.... any help or suggestions would be appreciated

REALITY CHECK: Anytime you compress video the quality will suffer; the higher the compression, the lower the quality within any given codec. You cannot realistically expect to maintain "all the clarity of the original file." Period.

  • "Tempaltes" in Final Cut Pro

    Hi,
For the month of July, I will be editing quite a few Final Cut Pro video projects - with all the same music, cuts, transitions, and effects. The only difference between the projects is the actual video and some titles. Is there a way to set up a "template" so that the structure of the project stays the same and just change the video every iteration? This would be a big deal for me because there must be over 200 cuts in an 8 minute video (the individual clips are very short) and having this "structure" would be a huge time saver.
    Many thanks!
    -Max

Once you have created your first sequence, you can use it as the template. Create a new project and drag the original sequence into the new project. Import or digitize the media for the new project. To replace clip one of the original sequence with the "new" clip, right mouse click or control click the media from you browser and click copy. In your sequence, right mouse click or control click the clip to be replaced and clip paste attributes. The window that appears will have the option Content under Video Attributes. By clicking Content you will replace the clip in the sequence with the clip from your browser. Continue down your timeline copy and pasting attributes until the sequence is complete. You may need to set in points for the new media, but otherwise you copy and paste attributes. This is the easiest way to use an existing sequence as a template.
    I hope that helps.
