Final cut pro x import music garage band

I can't import music from garage band.

I guess I didn't export FROM garage band.  I didn't see a way to do that.
but i did figure out what i was doing wrong.  i was trying to import from the Import media from top left edit drop down menu - instead of clicking the music icon in the bar on lower right.
also, i was trying to drag it into the media bar instead of the time line.
d'oh!
thanks so much for your effort to help.

  • Final Cut Pro Video Import Crash Problems

Whenever I try to import video files into Final Cut Pro X the program crashes. I've tried numerous formats and nothing is working. If it does pull the video in and lets me see it briefly prior to crashing, the footage appears shaky and with bright green lines running through it. It does not look like this if you play the clip outside of FCP. I've used FCP to make videos within the last year without this problem and have updated as well as uninstalled and re-installed the software to see if that would helped, but nothing has worked. I am stumped and my client is getting antsy for a finished product. Please advise.

I've had the same problem on both my laptop and my desktop:
    Laptop specs: 13" MacBook Pro (2012) / 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 / 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / Intel HD Graphics 4000  513 MB / 450 GB Free space
Desktop specs: iMac (2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz / 296 GB Free space
I'm feeling like a tech moron though as I am not sure about finding this information, "Frame size, frame rate, video codec, audio codec, sample rate."

  • IMovie nor Final Cut Pro will import video from camcorder

Both iMovie 10.0.5 and the Final Cut Pro Trial I just downloaded (to test before purchasing) will not import my movie.  The movie plays on my camcorder and it plays in both iMovie and Final Cut but when I click to import, a message appears in the top right corner that reads:  NO DATA FROM DEVICE.
Once again, the movie plays on the camera AND plays on the screen.  But there is nothing recorded into an event and no file / data transferred to the computer.
I searched the support forums and tried a freeware named DEBUT.  It worked but the video playback was very poor, scratchy and blurry.
Processor 3.5 GHz  Intel Core i7
    Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    OSX 10.9.5
    Camera Sony DCR-TRV460  (8MM, Digial 8, Hi8 tapes)
Firewire 4 pin to Firewire 800 cable, into Firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor, into iMac.
How do I get these old tapes into iMovie or Final Cut for editing?

I don't think I can help with your Digital 8 directly into iMovie 10.0.5 or FCPX, but try a few work-arounds.
Try copying iMovie'09 from old to new Mac via a memory stick or external HD. It is only 250 MB.
This still may not work on the new Mac as it may be an issue with Digital 8/Mavericks combination. Any way if you can get iMovie 09 onto new Mac ,give it a try.
    OR
Buy an external HD and transfer some data onto this to free up some space on your MacBook.
Then use your MacBook /iMovie 09 to import to Events onto your external HD.
Connect external HD to new Mac and import the  DV files in Media of iMovie 09 into FCPX.
    A word of caution!
When the files are imported into FCPX from the Media in iMovie 09 check to see if files are copied or just referenced.
If they are copied then you can delete them from iMovie 09, if they are referenced then you must not delete from 09.
You can normally tell: if copied then it takes a while to transfer,If referenced then done almost immediately.
My guess is ,they will be copied, but check.
The above is a bit messy but may get you moving with your new Mac.
Buying a new Mac is an expensive way of overcoming an overloaded HD on the MacBook. Cheaper to buy an external HD.
    This may be useful;
How can i move or copy projects and events to an external drive? (Version 9 and earlier)
Someone may be able to suggest a fix for Digital 8 into FCPX directly.

  • HT4663 final cut pro x import question

So I have a 500gb external hard drive that is open.  On another external hard drive I have about 300gb of footage.  So far I have imported 80gb onto the open 500gb hard drive and it has filled it up.  Am I doing something wrong on the import into Final Cut Pro X?

I am not 100% sure what you mean by where did it come from, so I don't mean to sound dumb but I will explain it best I can.
I went on a road trip across America and filmed around 300GB of footage.  It was shot on Sony XDcam I believe.  The media is .mts.  I broke the footage up into 4 different legs of the trip, and each folder varies in size the first one is 80GB and the second is around 50GB and so on.  So I am Importing them by their folders one at a time.  So when the first Leg of the trip was done importing I noticed the 500GB drive I got for the footage was already full.
So the way I imported was I clicked on the import button and went through the archive button to find the hard drive with the footage.  So I don't believe I used the optimize function when I imported, unless it was the proxy setting that I check marked during the importing process.
Here is a screen shot of what kind of footage I am trying to bring in, I hope it helps.
    Thanks

  • Final Cut Pro X Importing crashes

    HI,
I am a long time user of Final Cut Pro but Brand new to X.
I am trying to make my first log and capture and it just hangs.
There is no "Import from camera " option from the file menu.
I access it through the "Media" option.
As soon as I turn my camera on, it hangs.
The camera never pops up and I am forced to quit.
I have plugged and replugged the camera.
I have uninstalled "FCPX" and reinstalled it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    T/S

    I tried disconnecting everything.
I went out and bought a new 800 firewire.
    Nothing...
Finally, wondered if maybe the camera just wont work with the 800 firewire.
Went to apple and bought a
Moshi 800 to 400 FireWire Adapter.
plugged the old cord in through the adapter and it worked.
My suspicion is that the camera is so old, it wont work on the new firewire.
    But I really dont know.
    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Final cut pro x importing imovie project

I have iMovie '11 and am trying out Final Cut Pro X's trial version.  Final Cut Pro X will not successfully "import iMovie Project."  Two things happen: 1) It starts the import of the iMovie Project but only reaches the point where it shows video outline in dark grey with no acual video imagery and 2) shuts down Final Cut Pro X with a follow on option to "Report, Ignore" to Apple.  I've reported it, but would like to know if anyone is having the same issue and if there is a fix.  I have just the Trial Version to see if I wish to buy, but if functions are not working properly I won't buy it.

I have the full version and I can't get iMovie '11 projects to import into FCPX.  I have tried everything I can think of.  The import progress bar starts, then it crashes.  Anyone with instructions on getting in it please help.  I am migrating stuff to my new MBP and the iMovie stuff is recognized by the iMovie on the new MBP.  The iMovie events did import into FCPX fine however.

  • Final Cut Pro Cannot Import Quicktime file "File Error: Unknown file."

Very strange. I have two .MOV files. One of which I can import into Final Cut Pro without a problem. The other gives me the error as described in the subject header.
They have the same Codecs (H.264, AAC), were both shot with the same camera. The only difference I can see is that the one that does import has dimensions 640x480 and the one that doesnt import has dimension 1280x720. Could that be the problem?
thanks for taking the time to help!
    Uri

Please give the complete information from the QuickTime movie inspector. Neither file should be used in FCP, but converted to a production format.

  • Why won't final cut pro x import my media anymore?

I recently encountered a bug with final cut pro x. Previously I have been importing AVCHD files and working with them directly in the application. But, today as I went to import some more of the same footage it acknowledges an import, but nothing shows up in my events folders.
This is really bizarre. Not only this, but I tried importing a regular .MOV file directly by drag and drop, and via the import button, to no avail.

I never knew that "/" were part of the Unix code. Thanks for that. As for importing AVCHD video through the application by Cmd-I, I have done that as well. It still doesn't work.
    Here is what I've done:
And nothing shows up in the event folder.

  • Apple Final Cut Pro: No Importable Files

I'm trying to add a movie file to Apple Pro to burn, and it keeps saying "No importable files. None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again."
    Can anyone please help?!

It says "To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More." It tries to convert the movie first and then says it can't open it.

  • Final Cut Pro 7 Import Mp4 File Problem

Help! I have been using FCP 7 for some time now and all of a sudden I cannot import an Mp4 file. I get a file error saying the FCP does not recognize the file? I have been importing and using Mp4 files all along. I can't find any setting in FCP that would address this problem?

FCP doesn't work with MP4 (or H.264) files natively.   Sometimes they work, but it wasn't designed to do so.  For a list of the formats that FCP does work with natively, look at the Easy Setup list.  Create your Sequence using one of those then convert the MP4 file to to match that prior to importing it into your FCP project.

  • Can Final Cut Pro X import .mxf files from Canon XF105

I have just bought new FCP X program,  and wanted to buy Canon XF105 - would FCPx can import .mxf - mpeg2 from Canon XF105 ?  Need your advice on this.

Unfortunately I can't test it because, though I have some XF media, I can't find the Canon XF Utility on their web site. It comes on the disc with the camera I'm told, but I don't have a camera.

  • Final cut pro x -importing text files

I would like to create subtitles for my video but I find no way to input the text file with the subtitles in a format that FPCX will accept. I have tried rtf and txt format and several variants of these including an xml file created with TextEdit.
I dread the having to work one by one with each bit of text for every sequence requiring subtitles.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

There is this utility called X-Title Importer that should do what you need:

  • Final Cut Pro not importing full clip

What i am using is a JVCpro GY-HM100 which records native mp4 and native mov files. I record native mp4 1080i60 and when i make an attempt to import the files it only imports 30sec of the file when it originally is a 4min clip how can i solve this issue so that it can import the full clip

    Welcome to the forum!
FCP does not work with those highly compressed MP4 files. Use an editing codec to edit with. MP4 is a acquisition and delivery codec not an editing one. Use an application like Compressor to convert the files into something like ProRes (LT) if you are working with an HD file.
You can search this forum for "MP4" topics. It's covered at least once a day.

  • Does Final Cut Pro X import AC3 sound from an SONY AVCHD  Camera?

    Hi
    I have a Sony AVCHD camera HDR-XR200.
I have been using Vegas Platinum in a PC. Surround sound 5.1 is supported.
I purchased FCPX for its "64 bit processing. better use of cores and threads, and 5.1 sound (which iMovie does not support).
However, when I use FCPX to import from the camera, i only get stereo  channels.
I have set the properties to 5.1 sound.
Can anyone shed light on why this does not work?
    Thanks
    Barry

Thanks Daniel for the reply and the URL.
I have sent the following to the Apple Feedback site.
"I have FCPX which claims to support AVCHD and Surround Sound AC3.
When I import toFCPX from my HDR-XR200 handicam, the audio is down mixed to stereo. I cannot get the 5.1 sound recorded in the camera to accompany the video.
Is this advertised feature missing, is this a bug or should I be doing something that is not immediately apparent to the application."
It seems that many of us who have great expectations for FCPX whould like some feedback from Apple.

  • Final Cut Pro 5 Studio Installation

Is there a work around to install Final Cut Pro 5 Studio to another drive other than the Applications folder on the Start-up Disk? I have 2 LaCie 500 Gb hard drives available via Firewire 800.
Between the operating system with iLife, Final Cut Pro 5 Studio, and Garage Band Rythem Pack, 60 Gb of this laptops 100 Gb hard drive is already used.
And lastly, if not possible to load in another hard drive, is the content for each application (such as templates) where most of the space is being taken up? I see that when loading, I had the option to load these to a custom location.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

/Users/Shared contains all the templates and media for Motion (5.91 GB). /Library/Application Support/ contains folders for LiveType (10.93 GB), DVD Studio Pro (8.7 GB), and Sound Track Pro (315 MB).
