Final Cut Pro X is exporting video with horizontal lines?

I filmed a show with 2 different cameras (one is a canon vixia, the other is a canon dos 7D, i realize the quality is different for them) and I used the multi cam editor to match h up the clips and audio file to switch back and forth. I think i created proxy media to use for the multi cam clip. Whenever i export my movie, the movie plays with horizontal lines, and whenever there is faster motion, the person gets blurred. What is making final cut pro x export like this? How do I fix this? I've tried exporting with Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy), and H.264, but all video files have the lines going through it and the motion is a bit blurry. Please help me!!

There are quite a few Vixia models from Canon; which is yours?
Without looking at the image, it's not certain, but your description sounds like interlaced footage displayed on a computer. The 7D only shoots progressive, so it's possible your other cam was set to record interlaced. If your first clip placed on the timeline was an interlaced clip, FCP would automatically set the project to interlaced.
In a addition to your model #, what would be useful is to select one of the Vixia clips in the browser and then to take a screen shot of the top  part of the Info pane.

  • Final Cut Pro 4:  Problems exporting video using QuickTime conversion

just recently updated my Mac to version 10.4.11 -
Ever since, Final Cut Pro won't let me Export my video using QuickTime Conversion.
Its starts exporting, then freezes at 79%. A general error message pops up.
I know its not a space issue, because I have 20GB left and the video i'm exporting is only 2 GB.
I installed all the software updates.
Can anyone help? Do I need a new version of Final Cut?

    1) this is the final cut express forum not the pro.
    2) 10.4.6 is not the latest, try updating to 10.4.11
    3) after any system update you must run disk utility to repair permissions or errors that may not have been addressed during the upgrade process.
    4) have you tried exporting as a reference movie then playing it in qtpro, if ok then export.
    5) what are you trying to export too?

I am also expriencing the same error. Tried every solution listed so far:
    1. Switch off background rendering. Trash render files. Don't render. Export.
    2. copying the project within Final Cut Pro into another project
    3. remove the following folder: Library > Application Support > ProApps > MIO > RADPlugins > XDCAMFormat.RADPlug
Nothing worked. I try to export to Vimeo, YouTube, and master. All error right at 9%
    What's going on?

  • Final Cut Pro X long form videos

I've done a number of short videos on Final Cut Pro X using my Macbook Pro.Now a client wants me to send out 90minute seminars with a "watermark" logo. First one seems is very slow going. Do i need something like a Mac Pro with dual processors, etc.?

This seems to be just like my mac - a 2010 model. Unfortunately, it does not support 16GB, you have already maxed out the RAM.  You can and should avoid running other RAM-hungry applications (especially browsers) while you are editing or exporting in FCP X. Also, keep Activity Monitor open and look out for the memory section. If free RAM (in green) dwindles to a few tens of MB, your mac will slow down considerably. In that case, quit any applications you can, and quit and restart FCP X to free as much RAM as possible.
Using a fast external disk will also help. The internal drive is not adequate for such large projects and also may be filling up, which again will slow things down a lot.
(For this model the options are not many: FW800 (faster) or USB2 (not as fast); the best choice for me was an e-Sata disk, but that is only possible on the 17" model, via an express card - not an option if you have the 15" MBP)
So use RAM very wisely, and put your stuff in an as fast as possible external drive and you should be ok.
Not nearly as fast as on a Retina MBP, of course, but usable.

One potentially easy fix, right click on Final Cut Pro dot app and Get Info. Check the Prevent App Nap box.

  • Final Cut "Pro" and Crappy Export

Okay, I tried my first export from this alledged "professional" application to see whether problems I'm experiencing are issues with real-time rendering (or lack thereof) or truly how the final movie will be, and it turned out awful.  There are areas where the video simply stalls (while the audio keeps going), inconsistent framerate, dropped frames, still having "stereo" audio playing as mono, and I find myself wondering why $300 was charged for such garbage.  The settings I used are 1920x1080 | 29.97 fps | 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs) | 48 kHz | QuickTime movie.  The program is horribly slow (nearly constant beach balling), doesn't render per user specifications, and I now don't have much faith in its ability to export a movie properly. Are people really using this application for making quality movies, or is there something else (better) I should be using instead...?  Or is it my machine?  I'm using a MacBook "Pro"...maybe I should get an iMac?  Will the movie play differently from YouTube than from my harddrive?

Thanks, I wanted to know if it's my setup or if the types of issues I'm having are common.
    Computer:  MacBook Pro 15", OS X 10.9.2 (13C1021)
Processor:  2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory:  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics:  AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB
Storage:  344.34 GB free out of 499.25 GB
I don't know why the forum shows me as OS X Mavericks (10.9.1) because my system is actually 10.9.2.
My FCPX project is currently 11.42 GB with 16314 frames at 1920x1080, 29.97 fps, 5.1 Surround 48kHz.  There are many connected clips and some intense Motion animations, but none of that should affect the performance of a final exported movie in QuickTime Player.
    Problems I'm experiencing include:
    - Nearly constant "beach balling" (severe application lag, with the only running applications being Mail, Safari, and Final Cut Pro)
    - Dropped video frames and dropped audio during every playback (and suprisingly also in the exported movie)
    - Clips configured as "Stereo" audio playing instead as left-channel mono (and when switching to "Dual Mono" their sound is only in the right-channel, and "Reverse Stereo" having no effect - audio still only left-channel)
    - Unstable audio (clips that played fine as stereo audio yesterday have a channel missing today - with no changes to their settings)
    - Intermittent playhead movement during playback (very spotty and delayed movement)
After spending 6 months on 9 minutes of video (I'm meticulous, and every frame includes some sort of video or audio effect...and the application's awful performance REALLY slows me down), I'm understandably frustrated with such unacceptable performance from an alledged "professional" application.

  • Final cut pro HD 2 not working with new updates

recently purchased a new imac. Most of my old programs were not supported. I updated to 10.9 from 10.5. Now, all the programs are running except Final Cut pro HD 2. I get a message sayin"power pc applications are no longer supported" Any suggestions? I read in an old discussion (from 2011) that I might need to download Rosetta?

I do not know which version of FCP the OP is using as I do not recognize his designation of Final Cut Pro HD 2.
However, last weekend I attempted to install Final Cut Studio 2 (Final Cut Pro 6) into Snow Leopard installed in Parallels, as a test.  It failed!
Final Cut's installer suggested the following problems: not enough VRAM - 64 needed; 0 present (even though Parallels is set for more than the minimum required VRAM); and a missing video card.
I attempted to work around this problem by using Pacifist to install FCS2, which worked, as far as the installation was completed.  However, when I attemped to run FCS2, a dialog box came up with indicated that same two problems and then it quit.

  • Does Final Cut Pro X support all video files as did its prior version Final Cut Pro Studio?

    Hi,
Use to have a Mac Pro and had Fina Cut Pro Studio. Now I have just got a new Macbook Pro (Lion), and have just purchased the new Final Cut Pro X from the App store. I am having problems importing 3gps files into FCP X. I never had a problem with the $1000 version of studio. Does the new FCP X have limitations on what video files are compatible with it? do I need to purchase additional plug-ins etc???
    Ta
    Zeb

Really depends on the specific file type you want to work with. FCP X does not support every single flavor of video FCP 7 did, so it's not a huge surprise if the file you're using is not supported. That said, there's plenty of free third party tools you could use to convert it to a regular QuickTime ProRes file that FCP X would accept. For example- http://www.squared5.com/ would most likely be able to load it. Try and let us know. And if that doesn't work please provide more details about the 3gps file you're using.

  • When opening Final Cut Pro it keeps getting stuck with the loading circle and I have to force the quit so please help?

I have a Macbook Air, still fairly new from July 4, 2014. Yesterday, I was editing some footage in Final Cut Pro, and the colored spinning circle kept popping up. I continuously forced the quit, as I couldn't do anything, and then I restarted and looked for updates (though there was none). I then deleted the app and reinstalled it, but it's still giving me the same problem. This morning, I created a new user account, and Final Cut Pro works on that account, but it took some time to find the exported video (I actually had to turn it off and turn it back on to find the video). Later today, I went onto the main account, where Final Cut Pro isn't working, and it's still giving me trouble, and then the Picture Preview program got stuck, as well, twice, where I had to also force it to quit. What's happening? How do I fix this problem?

The info given below might help but if it doesn't, I'm sure other people will give you useful suggestions.
Corrupt preferences can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be one of the first things you do using this free app.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
    1. Ensure that  FCP X  is selected.
    2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.

  • Final Cut Pro X Not Exporting

I am a brand new mac user, and I only upgraded for the use of editing with the software Fincal Cut Pro. The program does everything it's supposed to whilst I edit, but I'm done edititng now and I can't get the file to export. I click on the "share" button and then the "export media" button, the computer loads for half a second, and then it does nothing. Nothing. What do I need to do to get my file to export?
I have Final Cut Pro 10.0.3 and am using the operating system Mavericks 10.9

Kristin - sound like you're doing everything correctly.  I nmoticed you're somehow on the latest OS but using a very old version of FCPX.  I kinda wonder if that might affect your results.  Typically people who are running Mavericks would be on a more recent release of FCPX (I think?)
Do you have compressor?  Do you see an option to "Send to Compressor"?  I know it is possible to do a trial of FCPX so perhaps it might be possible to trail Compressor.  If so, try sending your project to Compressor and select a setting and destination for your project and see if that works.
Sometimes when you try something and report back, others who are very experienced will jump in with solutions.

  • Final Cut Pro won't fully open with new OS 10.10.3

final cut pro version 10.2 will not open with OS 10.10.3. Rather, it starts to open in my project, then hangs up with the spinning wheel that never stops. I upgraded the OS to this one just last week and haven't been able to open fcp cc since then

    1. Can I rename the library as I wish to reflect the project topic?
    - Libraries can be named anything you wish.  Rename them in the Finder.  Or simply name them when you first create them.
    2. Can I safely drag it into the external drive so everything is in the same place and space is saved on the computer? I realize upon FCP start-up I'd have to locate the library to re-establish the connection.
    - You can move Libraries to any location you wish in the Finder.  If you don't want your media to do offline (relink), you can select the Library in the Browser, go to the Inspector, click the Consolidate button.  This puts everything physically inside the Library so it is self-contained.
    3. The library (on the computer hd) seems to create new libraries sometimes. One when I used FCP the first time. Another when I restarted using option/command, etc. Another with a little test video when I first purchased the program. Can I delete every single library (now in the movie folder) other than the one I am working on, or does the FCP system somehow need to hang on to one or more other libraries?
    - There has to be one Library open when you launch FCPX.  If you closed all your Libraries before quitting FCPX, then it will create a default Library in your Movies folder.  You can move unneeded Libraries to the trash in the Finder, FCPX doesn't care.

  • Final Cut Pro X: cancelled exporting process, file still on computer, but where?

    HI!
I was exporting a project  from Final Cut Pro X, but I cancelled to process. I had chosen to save the file to external storage. My computer was processing the file to my computer and now after canceling  there is file with size over 30 gigabytes  on my computer but I don't have any idea where it is?
I was exporting the project using compressor settings -not the best one choice, but the only thing I want now is to find the missing file and delete it.
Share monitor gives me message: 3x Source file /var/folders/b4/y9pp857j2dx5mq4yp6nw3gqm0000gn/T/259EE137-52C2-47CD-AA69-DFAEB7 37E3B7.export-seq-id not found
Thanks a lot of your help!
           Christer

    Hi,
I didn't change the file name in the Save dialogue box and yes -I have certainly searched with spotlight and used all kind of methods to find the file.
And there hasn't ever been any problems when canceling the process before this time.
But I know much more after diagnostics in Apple repair service in Apple Authorized Service Provider (or what ever is the right term...). Like I wrote before, it's possible there are failures on hard drive and if the file has somehow got to the damaged place on hard drive, it's may be impossible to find the file without professional help. That's maybe not
very common issue, but still possible. It will take week or more before I get their answer.
I just hope I would have Final Cut on my iPhone....

  • Final Cut Pro does not export

I'm having problems exporting with Final Cut Pro. When I go to the share menu, export movie simply does nothing, and if I try to export directly to vimeo or apple devices, it gives me this error: com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1. I checked in Applications and I have compressor, and if I open it, it works just fine. Already disabled the app nap in both final cut and compressor and it solved nothing.

You don't need to render before export.
    Rendering is for playback.
If your project plays OK from the storyline, you can safely turn off rendering in preferences.
