Final Cut Pro X Not Working
Whenever I try to insert a file more than 15 mins it won't work and final cut pro x freezes and then says it has quit unexpectedly, does anyone know a solution for this?

Hi Tom, I don't know if you can help me.
I'm using Final Cut version 10.1.4 with Yosemite 10.10.2 and whenever I open FCP it opens for about 5 seconds (not allowing me to click anywhere) before closing with the message "Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly. click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to apple automatically." I have tried opening it multiple times and the same thing has been happening over and over again and i've tried everything I could find on the internet and nothing is working.

Final cut pro x not working, stuck on " reading file...."
My final cut pro x. Is not working. The apple specialist stated that one of my files is corrupted on my hard drive therfore its not loading. He told me to hide the files and open one if them at a time. By hiding the files, it does allow the program to open. The problem is that I have so many files!!! Can I just go into each of the "original media file" drag them to a hard drive and then erase the final cut events? By doing this, I can load my program? I just dont want to loose any of my original media. I dont mind loosing the projects but just not the clips that I rransferred from my camera.
Thanks Jakob, I will get a blank hard drive and transfer one of the original media and test to see if I can still view it. I will let you know the outcome. Wish me luck Jacob.

Final cut pro x not working after Lion install.
So i installd Lion yesterday but now Final cut pro X is not working... it starts up but is never usable...it jammz right away...
I use a Macbook Pro 15 inch. 2.53/8gbAlso have this issue - the only "fix" at present seems to be renaming the /Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser to something like _iLifeMediaBrowser and then launching FCPX - it runs straight away.
This also fixes a similar issue with iMovie 11 under 10.7
Really nasty bug that needs looking into from Apple, I'll file a bug report. -
Moviebox dv w/ final cut pro.. not working!!!
alright i've had this thing working before when i bought it on my mom's 17 inch powerbook rev c 1.5 gigs of ram back when panther was still out.. and once we upgraded to tiger back in april it hasn't worked. Just to see if it was her system I put it on my new dual core g5 and still same issue. it sees the chipset on the pinnacle moviebox but when i hit play on the vcr (selection is on rca) and then play in final cut pro... no luck. can anyone help me with this?? because pinnacle sure wasn't able to... ugh.

I'm cross posting this to the FCP list because it is directly applicable to FCP as well as FCE. This has been a huge source of frustration to me, and I hope that this post will help a few people avoid that).
I was just walked through a repair procedure by an Apple Care person, and it fixed my camera recognition problems (I have a Canon XL1 and sometime after installing Tiger, then 10.4.1, various patches (including Quicktime 7.1) and the latest Desktop Video patch, I've been unable to use the camera with Final Cut Express, and attempts to capture would result in a FCE crash).
The workaround is to download Quicktime manually, after removing the "receipts" which indicate that it is loaded. Specifically, I was told to do the following:
1. Navigate to Library -> Receipts on your main drive (not from your personal folder).
2. Remove all files of the form QuickTime*.pkg, where "*" is a version number. E.g. QuickTime600.pkg, QuickTime650.pkg, Quicktime700.pkg and QuickTime701.pkg. This simply tells your system that those packages are not installed.
3. Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/downloads and click on the "download Quicktime" link. DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE UTILITY. Download QuickTimeInstallerX.dmg. Double click this file (probably on your desktop) and then invoke the installer by double clicking QuickTime701.pkg.
4. After your computer reboots, you should be able to restart FCE and see your camera.
I hope this works for you as well as it does for me. The Apple tech said this was the first case he'd seen for FCE, but that over the last couple of days, he'd had success with it for several FCP users.

Final Cut Pro 5 not working with JVC BR-HD50/HD-100U
The footage was shot in 720/30p on the HD-100U which is supposed to work with FCP5. I am using the HD50 deck. I can log the footage but only see black going to the Log & Capture window. I have checked all the settings on the deck and in FCP with no luck. I did get it to capture 853x480 footage that was uncontrollable. FCP does not recognize it on the timeline but does in the viewer. Any suggestions?

You'll get good advice here and it's worth a visit even if you don't have a problem - you'll learn a lot from reading the posts.
This is a good workaround for curing your camera recognition problem:
First, check that your Easy Setup / Timeline / Camera or Deck Settings are all exactly the same, then making sure your camera or deck is in VTR mode, try to capture again.
FCP uses a different form of QT than iMovie for capturing, so if the camera works in iMovie (or if it's listed in System Profiler) but not FCP, it obviously means your Mac can see the VTR but FCP can't, so you need to do this QuickTime fix.

Follow the instructions carefully and you should have things running in no time but note that if you have QT Pro, you’ll have to re-purchase it.
If the Camera / Deck isn't recognised by iMovie or System Profiler, try resetting the Firewire Bus . . . Turn off the Mac and disconnect the power and all Firewire cables. Leave it for 30 mins then connect back up.
Still not working? Try a different Firewire cable.
Failing all this, try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit). The method varies from machine to machine, so visit the Apple site and search for it in support.
Don't use iMovie for capturing - it doesn't give you a timecode and that's very important.

I can't get my projects in Final Cut Pro X to work in 1080p. One turned out to be 1080p by "accident" but I did everything the same as the ones that did not. Same camera/settings (shot in 60i). I didn't really care cause I had to get some stuff done, but now I know I "can" dp them in HD but can't figure why the one went up to YT in full HD (and made a copy in my movies folder. That one project acted totally different than the other 5 but I didn't change anything. Can't get it to work again. ***? Any ideas?
No problem! If you're worried about more complicated edits (which in all honesty, should work no matter how many clips you select or how many effects are attached to them), you can always compound a clip first, and then copy it over after if you're afraid of lots of track clutter getting in the way. Not sure if they would break apart afterwards though if you wanted them to.

Final Cut Pro 5 quit working. Please help!
I have Final Cut Pro 5, which worked two weeks ago when I opened it. Last Monday (4/27) I ran a system update. Yesterday when I tried to open FCP5 the startup screen popped up like usual then disappeared (along with the black triangle under the icon in the Dock) and the program ceased to launch. It hasn't opened since. I tried reinstalling the program and got the same results.
Is it possible that I installed something in that system update that is causing a conflict and not allowing FCP5 to open???

LWelcome to the forums.
When FCP stops working like it should, that typically points to corrupt preferences. Trash them and FCP will make new ones. This typically solves the issue.
Download and run FCP Rescue. It trashes all three preference files for FCP. Simply click TRASH...then launch FCP again.

As you give no background info nobody can possibly guess.
However, have you tried trashing the preferences?
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.

Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that only FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones . . . instantly. -

OS X Yosemite caused Final Cut Pro to not run until upgraded. Says there are no updates available and will not let me install it - says I already have it.

JimFCP (10.1.3) works just fine on 10.10.. try to trash FCP then re install.

Sorry for being unclear.
When I am using the update in the App Store App, there will be a list of various applications that have updates to be installed (Final Cut Pro will be in this list). I will already be logged in with the Apple ID I use for everything (my dev account). I will be able to update all of the other various applications needing updating except for my Final Cut Pro. When I click the update button next to the FCP update, it will give me an error saying "This download is not available for this apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"
I have not had any applications refunded or cancelled and this has only happened since my update to Yosemite. FCP was working fine until the upgrade. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? -

I have OS X Yosemite on both systems, my macbook has final cut pro x version 10.1.4 and my iMac shows no updates available and is on version 10.1.1. I have tried looking in iTunes for the same update that is installed on my macbook under the same iTunes account, but it doesn't show any updates. I tried deleting from my iMac and it won't delete so I can reinstall it. any suggestions?
You need to be logged into the Mac App Store with the same Apple ID in order to see your updates. You speak about iTunes: maybe you meant that just as an expression to refer to your Apple ID, but just in case you didn't: you do NOT use iTunes to download mac software. You use the App Store application, available under the Apple menu.
