Final cut production suite 4.5 on a G4 Quicksilver to new intel mac

I just order a new intel mac book pro : does Final cut production suite 4.5 ( bought before the intel macs) works on a new intel mac note book? I plan evtl. to buy the update Final cut studio suite 6.0
What do i have to do , should i install first the older version or can i install the new version directly?
Thanks for helping me

You will need to run the studio2 package. All you need to install the upgrade is your original serial number

  • Can u upgrade Final Cut studio product key from a G-5 platform to a new intel processor?

Can u upgrade Final Cut studio product key from a G-5 platform to a new intel processor?

Not sure here ... you want to upgrade Final Cut Studio or do you want to move the version you have to an Intel Mac? Both is possible if you meet the system requirments.
    1. Upgrade FCS
The Final Cut Studio upgrade provides an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 2, Final Cut Studio 1, Production Suite, or any prior version of Final Cut Pro. Academic and Not-For-Resale (NFR) versions are not eligible for upgrade.
    2. Upgrade to Intel Mac
You may run the applications on one desktop and one laptop at the same time

  • Final cut pro version 4.0.1 is supported on which version of Mac

    I want to know
final cut pro version 4.0.1 is supported on which version of Mac.
Which compressor should I use with this Final Cut Pro version.

FCP 4.0 was the most unstable version of FCP out there. I highly recommend not using it. SO much wrong with it that I can't list it all. BUT, it only supported DV and offline RT (low res format), and then uncompressed SD and Uncompressed HD (need supporting hardware). It ran on Mac OS 10.2 and 10.3...last supported OS was 10.3. It didn't come with Compressor. Compressor was made years after that version of FCP.

  • Final Cut creative suite Authorizing.

I recently acquired Final Cut Pro and when i tried to open Cinema Tools after an update it asked me to reauthorize the program. Is it supposed to be the same serial number as FCP or did another one come with it?

Why don't you enter your serial number and see what happens?

  • Internal or  External Hard drives for MacPro and Final Cut Pro Suite

We are purchasing a new MacPro with Final Cut Pro Studio to edit High Def video (1080x1920) in a professional sports setting. Initial storage will equal 12 TB. I've always felt original internal hard drives are more desirable: higher quality, fully compatible with Mac, and faster I think. Others feel that external storage is "safer." Should we get a MacPro with 8TB internal or go with all external? What are the advantages/disadvantages with each? Thank you very much in advance.

A hard drive is not going to change.
An external case has its own PSU and cooling.
SATA II is not going to change.
"Sharing" one channel for multiple drives is the only way it would be slow, using Port Multiplier.
There are very nice rugged storage racks for 8-12 drives and $600 range controllers. Take a look at what Fibre Channel offers. What the Apple XRAID once was.
I'd put the system on 10K 600GB WD probably, and not worry too much about internal storage. Also, you say "initial storage" so that assumes your needs are in the 20TB and you never using more than 60%. A good RAID can maintain performance to higher %.
Disk drives have made port multiplier less useful until SATA III chipsets arrive.

  • Will disabling Spotlight affect Final Cut Studio suite?

Many of my composer friends have disabled Spotlight which speeds up their machines supposedly.
They use Spotless2 & Find Any File as their cpu search utility.
I wanted to check to see if trying this would pose any problems in Final Cut Studio, etc.
    Thanks,
    Sherwood

Disabling Spotlight indexing of media/render drives would not adversely affect FCS at all, many folks do just that.

  • How do I take Final Cut Pro off one computer and move it to a new one?

I'm using Final Cut Pro Academic, and I can only run the program on one computer. If I'm getting a new computer, how do I move the program from my old computer to my new computer? Is there a way to "deauthorize" my old computer? If there is, I can't seem to find it.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Excellent! Do I need to do anything to ensure the the program installs on the new computer? Do I need to make sure the computer is connected to the Internet when I uninstall the program from the old computer?

  • Is Final Cut Pro the only software that can open video .MXF files for Macs?

    Hello,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Trying to find software that will edit .MXF Video Files to work with Mac.
As the edit is simple, prefer iMovie, but happy if the Conversion software only works with FCExpress (or even FCPro if that is the only alternative).
    1. If it matters, .MXF (Material Exchange Format) Video files came from shooting on a Panasonic 500 P2. Originally downloaded onto a Windows system, using Adobe Premiere.
    2. I just want to see and convert some of the shots I did for my Reel, etc., but I have a Mac.
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
    4. When I attach an External HD with backup files of all the footage shot, they show up named as .MXF files. They appear as VLC files (VLC icon), but the suffix is .MXF.
    5. When I try to play them as VLC files, they won't play. It seems they start to play, but then the VLC software quits.
    6. So I have tried downloading some software on the Internet that Google says converts .MXF files.
I tried: iSkysoft Video Converter, AVCWare Mac Video Converter, MPEG Streamclip, and a couple others. They all seem to have basically the same conversion setups, but when I click to pick one .MXF file, none of them recognize it. (The file in my Browse window is greyed out).
    7. MoyaVideo Converter for Mac recognizes the .MXF file, but when I hit the "conversion" button - I tried a couple different settings, all it seems to convert is the first frame. Even if the .MXF file says a clip is 123MB or 43 seconds long, etc.
    8. I can't even watch the clip in Preview. Press Play and it is just the first frame.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
    10. And I have read elsewhere that only Final Cut Pro has a codec that will open .MXF files. If this is so, why do the above companies claim to have software that opens .MXF files for Mac?
    11. Isn't there a further problem if I can't even see the video using VLC? Or is that because I am using Mac and need FCPro with the right codec?
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

MXF files from P2 can only be imported using FCP. iMovie can't, nor FCE...if you are talking about APPLE software. Avid deals with MXF files natively. But FCP will ONLY import them if the entire P2 card structure is intact. Please tell me that you have the entire P2 card backups. If not, then it won't work. If you do...then here is the process for importing into FCP:
    P2 Workflow with FCP 6
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
Then you need someone to provide you with QT files of this footage. None of them work with P2.
NONE of the converters you listed will work... Sorry.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
That software is to get it to work with Final CUt Pro natively. What it doesn't do is convert the footage to QTs. There is also Raylight and Calibrated...but again, they are for FCP.
P2 is a professional format, and to use it you need professional software. iMovie won't work...nor will FCE. If you need to work with it in those formats, you need to have someone import the files and convert them to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).
HD Log might work...but not sure what QT format it converts to. A demo is available.

  • Final Cut Studio (ver 1.0) won't install on brand new 2.8 ghz intel coreduo

I just bought a new 15inch MacBook Pro (4 GB memory) and went to install Final Cut Studio (ver 1.0) and then install the Final Cut Studio (HD) upgrade, but when I try to install Final Cut Studio (ver 1.0) I get this error: "Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details." All of the minimum requirements seem to be easily met, and I've run this old version of Final Cut Studio and the HD upgrade on my previous and older macbook, so I'm really confused on this error message. I can't find anything online. Anyone have any idea what is causing this hardware error?

I am getting the same message."Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details." I have FCP 5 and I am trying to install it on my new MacBook Pro. FCP 5.0 worked fine on my other mac and Im getting this message on my new one! any thoughts?

Sign into the App Store with the same Apple ID used to purchase the software.

  • Why is Mac's iWork productivity suite so subpar? It makes me regret purchasing this Mac altogether.

All of the software (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) are missing some of the most basic, essential functions. Some so essential to the point that I wish I had not switched from Microsoft to Apple. For example, Numbers beautifully allows you to create multiple tables on one sheet, yet does not allow you to individually border cells?? When are these things going to be updated? I'm tired of having to use my son's PC for office productivity, and then try to convert it for use on my own mac laptop!

In fact you can edit the cell borders using the "Edit Cell border" tool in the tool bar.
Then you hover the cursor over the cell border you want to edit and when the cursor chnages you click the border.  A single click will select the edge of a row or column.  A second click will select the border of a single cell.  You may then use the other parts of the tool to select the line style, weight, and color.
It is not the best because it requires many clicks but the feature is most certainly available.
    Hope this helps

    You either need to either:
    1) use the following hack -
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/finalcut_pro_on_oldmacs.html
    or
    2) Upgrade to FCP 5

  • Which Apple computer is best for video - Final Cut Pro X, Photoshop et.  I have a 7 year old Mac Pro which will not accept FCP X.

I have an Apple Mac Pro.  It is almost 7 years old and will not accept FCP X.  I have been waiting for Apple to make a new Mac Pro, but  I don't know when that will happen.
    Any recommendations?

Do not put new money today into Mac Pro 2008 or previous. (the FBDIMM memory is too expensive).
Some say skip the 2009 model as the 2010 is better (has built-in support for hex processors) but not a lot more money.
Computers will always be better, faster, and cheaper if you wait. [A new Mac Pro may not be solid on day 1.] At some point, you have to get your work done, and just have to hold your nose and choose from what is avaiable and stable at the moment.

  • Advise on upgrading to Final Cut Studio

    Hi,
I'm still using my trusted old Final Cut Production Suite (FCP HD 4.5) and it's now time to upgrade my old G5 PowerMac to the new i.7 MacBook Pro. I'd like to know if upgrading from my old software to the current FCP Studio software is straight forward to do?
    Cheers

Yes. Purchase the FCS 2009 (aka FCS3) upgrade version.
Install JUST the new FCS on the new computer. During the installation, FCP will ask for the previous version serial number. Enter it and the new serial and be happy.
Do NOT install the previous FCS version.
