Final Cut Settings for Panasonic HDC-HS20 Camera

I have connected the camera via the USB from the camera to the computer and the software does not find the camera. What am i doing wrong. It works in imovie

Is the camera drive or card(which is it) mounted on the desktop? What happens when you use the add volume button and select the drive/card? What format exactly is your media?

I have connected the camera via the DV socket to the computer firewire 800 and the software does not find the camera. What am i doing wrong.

FireWire capture is primarily for tape-based media. Sounds like this is standard definition video. You probably need to use MPEG Streamclip to convert this to QuickTme as Final Cut doesn't work with this media. For higher quality throughout your workflow I'd suggest converting it to ProRes LT.
    Or DVCPRO 50.

  • Panasonic HDC-HS20 - Settings for YouTube

Hi! I have Final Cut Express, version 401B2. My computer is an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo. Today I bought a Panasonic HDC-HS20 video camera. But I'm confused. What settings should I have in "easy setup" and when I export the video? The goal is to of course have the best quality possible. All videos I make are for YouTube.
    So my questions are:
    1. What settings should I have in "easy set up"? What format, rate and use?
    2. What settings should I use when I export the video? What codec etc?

Yes I have PAL. First I need to choose the format.I can choose PAL, NTSC, HD, Apple Intermediate Codec and Panasonic DV/DVC PRO. I can also choose "all rates". But I'm guessing I should choose HD as the format.
If I choose 25 fps I can choose : AVCHD APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1920x1080i50.
If I choose 29,97 I can chose: AVCHD APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1920x1080i60
There are some more options under USE but it's either one of these two. the camera has the AVCHD technology and I think it is AVCHD APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1920x1080i50, not i60. I can also choose "all rates" which lets me choose any of the options.
I have in the camera chosen something called HA1920 which is the maxium picture quailty. So I'll try AVCHD APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1920x1080i50 as you said
    Format: HD
    RATE:25 fps
USE: AVCHD APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1920x1080i50
I'll try this and get back to you
Thanks for the help! I really do appreciate it very much!

  • Editing AVCHD (Panasonic HDC-HS20)

    Greetings,
I searched for similar issues and read about people having trouble with AVCHD, but I honestly don't understand how to edit and export a high quality video, when it comes to PAL.
The video was shot as HA (about 17 Mbps VBR - 1920x1080/50i) with a Panasonic HDC-HS20. And I'm using Premere Pro CS4. Windows 7, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA 9400 GT.
The new project settings I chose were: AVCHD, 1080i25 (50i) Anamorphic and it says this:
For editing AVCHD Formats recorded in 1920x1080 square pixels (non-anamorphic).
16:9 interlaced HD video at 25 frames per second.
    48kHz audio.
    General
Editing mode: AVCHD 1080i square pixel
    Timebase: 25.00fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 1920h 1080v (1.0000)
    Frame rate: 25.00 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
    Fields: Upper Field First
    The export settings were:
    1440 x 1080i 25 High Quality
PAL, 1440x1080 25, Upper field, Widescreen 16:9, High Profile, 4.0
But the video doesn't play correctly on WMP, as if there was something bad with the frames, and it looks completely distorted when I upload it to YouTube.
I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious here, but I really don't know what to do. Any help would be more than appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

In that case, you should have posted in http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premierepro_previous since CS5 is quite a bit different

  • Final Cut Pro for PowerPc G3 Mac

is there Final Cut Pro for PowerPc G3 Mac, Im pretty sure I need version 2.0, so please comment a download like, or comment if you know anything, thanks

This is the Final Cut Pro X forum. The software you want is not supported on any forum. Obsolete Intel technology is on the Final Cut Studio forum.
Bottom line: modern camera formats are not available for PowerPC technology. You need to upgrade your hardware.

  • Using Final Cut Express for video editing without attaching external device

    Hello,
I am a newbie to Final Cut Express as well as Mac's in general. I am wanting to use Final Cut Express for video editing of files, but without an attached camera. Is there any way to have Final Cut Express startup without having it prompt for an external A/V device? I just want to do some basic editing and use the chroma key feature. Can anyone help?
    Greatly Appreciated,

    iMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Zak,
Unfortunately, I've tried that and I get into an issue that was addressed in this posting: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=836595&tstart=120 where FCE will show the splash screen and then the program doesn't start. I then have to delete FCE preferences and then I will get the Easy Setup dialog box prompt me again for choosing the external device.
I am looking for a way to use FCE for video editing of files that I already have on my computer that I created using iClone software and is in .avi, or .mp4 format. I get FCE to work one time without the external device actually being attached, but then when restarting the program I get the dialog box asking for the external device and if it's not there, the program just closes, and to get it to work again, I have to delete the preference files and go through the process all over again which is time consuming especially when this is at work. If FCE is not the right program, can anyone suggest a good video editing program that doesn't require an external device and is as good or better than FCE?
Thanks again for your help and support,

  • Final Cut Server for audio assets?

    Hi all,
Anyone have thoughts on using Final Cut Server for managing audio projects? I can see games programmers also needing it big time but can't see much info on how FC Studio handles audio assets. As for managing all material for an album...
If anyone has any info, I'd be pleased to hear it.
    Thanks!

We are currently using it as a Photo/Video database.
I've only put about 3000 images/clips in there so far
but it seems to be working well.
We are running it on a old Quad G5 and have some
custom conversions set up for adding images and
    videos.
Our Web team can take our videos and in two clicks
have a WMV and FLV video for their sites and then
select a few images and do a quick convert to web
    sized imges..all within FCS
It would be nice to see a open architecture with plugin support
and more file compatibility, but for now it works great
as a database for images and video.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on Mac?
Export your Timeline content to a .mp4 file, using export settings which have been customized under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the export's preset.
See Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and .mp4 category. The exported file is then uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
If you post the properties of your source video and project settings, I will suggest the settings for the Timeline content export to file saved to the computer
hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site.

  • I am opening a public access/community TV station soon. We are thinking of using Final Cut X for our staff

I am opening a public access/community TV station very soon. We are thinking of using Final Cut X for our staff and community producers. I am curious if there are any special discounts for multiple purchases of computers, but also for Final Cut X software? Does anyone reading have any experience from a public access TV perspective?

    Hi SCaryPictures,
I run a PEG station, where I have used FCP7, AvidExpressPro, Adobe CS6/CC, and FCPX - I am approaching 2 years with my FCPX experience. I'd be happy to engage with you in a private email thread about my experience (I value my access to the people on this forum, and I don't want the Apple staffers to take offence.) Good luck founding your station!

You can have them both on the same computer as I and many others have done for years.
Just go ahead and install FCS 3 normally.
There will be absolutely no problems.

I have purchased Final Cut Pro for my imac and now want to put it onto my macbook air so I can use it when away from my desk. How can I do this

I took away my backup disk with me so just took it from there excellent. I am back home at present working on my imac. When I go to use my macbook air on these projects (when away on boat) is it easiest to simply copy the Project and Events folders in total from my imac onto the other machine and do the same upon my return in reverse? I don't use icloud

  • Does Final Cut allow for "multi-cameras," like Vegas Pro, that would allow me to create split-screens in a movie?

I am trying to create a front and back camera view from two cameras simultaneously.
I am considering the purchase of video editing software that goes beyond iphoto. I am told that Vegas Pro will do this. Does Final Cut? (I would prefer to work in a Mac program).

    Andnick,
Thanks for your reply. My bad. My terminology was mistaken. I meant to ask whether I could do "picture-in-picture," so that I have a rear view camera (view) in a forward view clip. Does that make sense?

  • Optimal export from Canon Vixia HV30 via Final Cut Express for Blip.tv

I am looking to optimize the export of my videos from Final Cut Express (4.0.1). I shoot HD Widescreen on a Canon Vixia HV30. I've been having problems getting good quality in a smallish package.
For some reason, the videos come off the camera at the odd ratio of 496 x 279. This means I have to export them that size, but the final product ends up being huge. Literally, the screen is larger than the computer screen, and I have to view it on half size. I feel I could get more bang for my buck if these videos could be exported smaller initially.
Here are my settings for export (as Quicktime Movie with Quicktime conversion):
    Compression: H.264
    Quality: High
    Key frame rate: 24
    Encoding: Multi-pass
The only tweak I make is to set the kbits/sec to between 3000 and 3500, which gets me a decent looking video that's about two minutes long and between 40 and 70MB.
If I try to tweak the ratio or the format, the picture gets squeezed or the quality drops significantly. I've also been running into the problem of skipping playback on Blip.tv, which recently switched to a new version of Flash.
Any help on how to shrink the video and keep the quality?
    Regards,
    Philip

Export to where? Where are you trying to get to? Export QuickTime Movie is the original converted FCE media file.
