Final cut studio 2 (free trial)

can i get a free trial version of fcs2 because i whant to try it befor i buy it thanks

Final Cut Express is a cheap way to get your feet wet. It works with DV, HDV and AVCHD and only costs $199. If you are a hobbyist and won't be working with broadcast tape or tapeless formats, this is the product to get. Sure, you don't get Motion or Color or Soundtrack Pro, but it is still a great little application.

  • Cannot reinstall final cut pro x free trial version

According to the Apple web you can reinstall Final Cut Pro X free trial. Following instructyions I removed all final cut files. It did not work. I then used "ProMaintenance" to make sure all files are deleted. Same unsuccessful result: Unable to install it the second time. I get 2 options: "Buy" or "Quit". Any help appreciated. ty

    within the 30d period.
or, do you want on an Apple hosted site like this advice to circumvent DRM of Apple Products??!
to bypass the 30-day-limit is simply illegal. whatever 'the web' says ....

  • Final Cut Pro X Free Trial - Lost Past Files

I downloaded the free trial of FCP X about 20 days ago and when i went to import and begin a new project today, the past 4 projects and their original files I have worked on are gone.  I have looked everywhere in my external hard drive (where I save things) and when I search under the Final Cut Pro Events/Projects, nothing is there.  I'm a little concerned as the original footage is gone as well.  It's like there's no trace that I ever worked on them.  I know the program auto saves, but all that's on my external drive is the final exported .mov files that open in Quick Time. I opened a new project to see if it deleted the current one I was working on, and it didn't.  As of right now it's saving everything that I've done since Wednesday, but prior to that.... I can't find a thing.  (I've searched the computer/external hard drive/back up files.)

Unless you have another drive that is not currently mounted, this doesn't sound encouraging.
Before Wed, were you working from the Finder  in events and projects? Even if you had changed the names, duplicated, organized, consolidated – whatever – if they exist, they should have the extensions you searched on.
Sorry, I'm having a hard imagining a scenario whereby both events and projects go missing at the same time – short of moving them to the trash from within FCP (which has to be done one at a time) or dragging both the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects to the trash in the Finder and emptying the trash.
Perhaps someone else will weigh in with some better ideas.

  • Free Upgrade To Final Cut Studio 2?

    Hello,
Was wondering something. I bought Final Cut Studio just over a month ago. Since Apple have just come out with Final Cut Studio 2 is this just a case of me being unlucky or is there a facility where I can get the upgrade for free, since I have already paid for the latest version.
I was just hoping that someone could advise me, or at least point me in the right direction who to approach.
    Best wishes
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Final Cut Studio ( 5.1.4)

Yeah, hate to say Z1's right, but Z1's right. You purchased what was at the time the newest version, and therefore it was a done deal. In future, you may wish to check "Mac Rumor" sites periodically before buying a product, so you can preempt this very thing.
On a sidenote, thank you for being professional and reasonable about it. We've had some posters here recently who have just strait-out demanded FCS2.

  • Is it possible to export Final Cut Pro X or .MOV to DVD Studio Pro (Final Cut Studio)?

Is it possible to export Final Cut Pro X projects or .MOV to DVD Studio Pro (from Final Cut Studio v.3)? I'm using the free trial of Final Cut Pro X and later acquired a copy of Final Cut Studio (FCP 7, Compressor 3.5, DVD Studio Pro 4, Color 1.5, Motion 4, Soundtrack Pro 2).
I don't like the default DVD export in FCPX, so I would like to do it on DVD Studio Pro. Is it possible to export the project or the final .MOV file to DVD Studio Pro?
Additionally, can I use unfinished FCPX projects on FCP7?
Is it possible to export from FCPX to Compressor 3.5 (Final Cut Studio)?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated. As of this post, I have about 13 days left on my FCPX trial. Or would it just make sense to just use Final Cut Pro 7, since I have a permanent copy of it?
    Thank you.
P.S. Where would be the best place to store projects or any other file related to Final Cut Studio or Final Cut Pro X? My MacBook Pro has 320GB built in storage (only 60GB available), and I have a 1TB external hard drive.
What is best to store on the Macintosh internal hard drive?
What is best to store on the external hard drive?

Yes you can make DVDs in DVDSP using video exported from FCPX.
There are some apps that will translate between X and 7- that said I would highly recommend not going back and forth as the translations are not 1:1 perfect.
I would recommend storing all Events and Projects on the External drive.
Compressor 3.5 will not accept exports directly from FCPX- you'll need Compressor 4 which is $49.
Totally up to you whether you want to make the jump to X. 7 is an EOL'ed program, meaning there will not be another version of that application. Final Cut Pro X is the version being actively developed now.

  • Aperature, Final Cut Studio as 'universal'.....??

On the 90 minute long MacWorld presentation I watched, it said that the new Intel Core Duo G5's will have programs such as Aperature and Final Cut Studio as 'universal'. What exactly does this mean? Do they mean that these programs will come free when you order your new mac? And how come they aren't doing that right now?

    Hi,
Don't know which presentation you have watched, but I believe you are mixing up a few things :
    1. Intel Core Duo Mac G5 does not exist (it is either Core Duo (Intel) or it is PowerPC (G5 or G4, or even G3)
    2. Regarding Aperture and Final Cut Studio : I suppose they only meant that Universal versions of those programs will be available (meaning able to run natively on both Intel and PowerMac). Both applications are Pro applications which untill now have not been included with new Macs (they may have trial versions available).
Current Macs come with 'consumer' packages like iLife and with trial versions of iWork and Microsoft Office.

  • Can I get Authorised Final Cut Studio 7

Hi, I'm a media student and I often work with video editing projects. Now own an iMac with OS X 10.9.5.
For edits, Final Cut Studio 7 seems more comfortable than FCP X. Can I get an Authorised version of 7 anyway? I'm not interested in FCP X

    1) What Meg said.
    2) Did you ever try FCP X, I mean actually use it? It may look unfamiliar at first, but don't dismiss it out of hand. There is a free trial, fully functional for 30 days. I bet that if you really use it (and learn its ways, instead of trying to force it be like FCP 7), you will soon find that going back to FCP 7 is painful. Many people here share this experience...
Plus, there is no guarantee as to how long FCP 7 will keep working on current systems (though it appears it still works in Yosemite). It is dead, and has been for over 3 years now. Oh, and sealed boxes containing Final Cut Studio 3 currently go on ebay by somewhat more than what FCP X costs.

  • Final Cut Studio is crashing a lot using a Mac Pro (nehalem) 2009

    Greetings,
I have a video workstation based on a Mac Pro (2x2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem, 6 GB RAM, 640 GB HD, 512 NVIDEA VRAM) with a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 2009 and an Highpoint RocketRAID 4322 card (properly connected to a RAID 5 array).
I'm editing, with Final Cut Studio 3, a big TV project with some TGA and loads of HD XDCAM EX 35mbs video footage.
    *What is happening wrong?*
Final Cut Pro is crashing to many times and dont let me work with the flow that is supposed. I start to work and i do a bit of scrubbing in the timeline and suddenly the rainbow spyral starts to spin and kaput! FCP just crashes.
I've tried to many things. Re-installing everything from the baseline, plug out the 2 PCIe cards (and not even the drivers are installed). Even so FCP still crashes with the project.
Funny thing is... This symptom only happens with the Nehalem Mac Pro. I have another station based on a Mac Pro 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Xeon 3 GB RAM 2006 and when i run the project... everything works fine. FCP here doesn't crash.
This is what makes me believe that the problem must be with the new Mac Pro.
I have the reports generated by the FCP after the crash. You can find it here:
    http://www.ideiascompernas.com/reports/
I'm getting frustrated because i've invested big in this workstation, safe in the knowledge that it was going to be stable to complete my requirements.
Is there anything that i or Apple can do to resolve my problem. Is it the processor? Extended Hardware Test says that everything is ok.
    I'll be waiting,
    best regards, thanks,
    Pedro

I see you have the GT120, not a very nice card really but maybe it is 'enough.' I'd upgrade. To ATI Radeon 4870, once you get it stable and working.

I see your crash is kernel panic actually.
    Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
    Crashed Thread: 194
Almost always that is memory related, are you seeing parity errors?
Watch System Profile - Memory tab
Replace the RAM (I'd even up it to more memory, 6 x 2GB is what I would have configured for)
Have you tested your RAM? run Apple Hardware Test?
Disabled ALL USB and Firewire devices?
Is the RR4322 okay to run in slot #2 (16x) rather than in slot 3 or 4 (4x)?
Getting RAM replaced, advanced exchange, or go out and getting some Kingston or Crucial etc for your system, and swapping, really is one good method, trial and error, to find the cultprit or rule out RAM.
Errors like this can mean flushing your caches is a must, and possibly due to errors and crashes, clean system install, checking data (both time consuming) and being careful to recheck your drives with Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro 5 to insure there are not any corrupt files (not perfect either which is why restore the system from known good backup image can be a must).

  • Can I use Final Cut Studio 2 on the latest macbook pro retina display?

I'm planning on buying the 15" macbook pro retina display and was given Final cut studio 2 from a friend as he woudn`t use it.
is it possible to install this program on the computer at all and successfully use it or can i upgrade to the newest version?

Studio 2? FCP 6? No. Sorry, won't even install. It's 8 year old software...and Apple no longer supports it.
The latest version, FCP-X...costs $299. There is no upgrade cost. But once you buy it, every single update after that is free...given the history of past updates.  Note...it's very different from FCP 6. Completely different app.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 & New iMac

Before I bought the new iMAC I asked if Final Cut Studio 2 (Final Cut Pro 6.0) would work on this computer. I was told yes.
I put the install disc in, and a message of powerpc discs will not work. However, in the folder (on the disc) it says system requirements can be Intel Duel...
Is there something I have to do to get it to recognize the Intel download?
I originally downloaded the application to my PowerPc. That died, which is why I bought the new IMac.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The biggest complaint about FCX is that it isn't FCP. It's all new software with different methods for editing. Takes relearning how to import, organize and edit. Some fine it easy, some find it hard. There's a 30 day trial, so you can find out for yourself. Don't attempt this without training...it's VERY different.
That Apple Employee was wrong, and was just trying to sell you a computer. FCP 6 is 6 years old, and the current OS doesn't take it, nor FCP 7 into consideration as to if they will work at all. SOme people have issues with FCP 7, others don't. But the OS is not designed with FCP 6 in mind...so fair warning.
ANd yes, it takes elbow twisting to get it to even install.

  • Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 3.0 to Final Cut Pro X?

Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 3.0 to Final Cut Pro X ?

The price of FCPX pretty much is the cost of the upgrade of FCPStudio, but a much better value (at least so far -- every update has been free.) However, it's only the single app so you might feel like you're not getting as much for your money. Don't be fooled. Most of Color and Soundtrack Pro are built into FCPX. FCPX will conform video automatically so Cinema Tools aren't really needed anymore. The Motion engine is part of FCPX, although I do recommend buying Motion 5 (an extra 50 bucks.)  (Motion 4 seems to have died in Yosemite - you can't even launch it.)
I "upgraded" from Final Cut Studio 3... it took me about a week to decide to pack up all the old software for good. YMMV.  However, if you use DVD Studio Pro... hang on to that.

  • I just bought Final Cut Studio right before this new version...

I just bought Final Cut Studio right before this new version came out. Am I eligible for a free upgrade to the new software?

I'm sorry, but these replies have been ludicrous.  To actually answer your question, I would think they would honour their usual 14-day return policy, but you would need to speak with Apple directly.
As to the whole "which is better" debacle, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro 7 is the more polished and fleshed out piece of editing software, and what everyone is most familiar with to boot.  But let's be honest, what do you expect for software that is ten years old versus three days.  The fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone editing with Apple's software in the not so distant future is going to be editing on Final Cut Pro X, hands down.  It's fundamentally that much better.  You nay-sayers out there, if you don't switch to Adobe or Avid, you will go to FCP X!  There is a reason for that, and there will be an even stronger reason for that with every update.  People don't seem to understand that.
In your situation, if you don't own either, it makes a whole lot more sense to me for you to just roll with the hiccups FCP X brings if you can at all handle it.  If not, you are going to spend $999 now on FCS 3 and another $400 in the near future when you decide to take the leap.  Is there something worth $1000 to you in FCS 3 that FCP X doesn't offer?  If so, then great, go ahead.  It's an amazing piece of software.  If not, enjoy the head start on what editing is going to look like for the next ten years.
All the best talking with Apple.  The way that they are pushing FCP X I would hope you don't run into any trouble.

  • Final Cut Studio Videos

    Hi Guys,
A while ago I found a bunch of really good 'getting started' videos on the apple website for products within the Final Cut Studio such as Final Cut Pro, but now I cant seem to find them anywhere, have they been removed?
I think the first video was all about setting up Final Cut Pro.
    Thanks in advance,

Yes, Apple doesn't have them on line anymore.
For the most part, they merely explained new features and nothing more.

  • Where can I find Final Cut Studio retail?

As a graduate of Media hoping to get into the industry as an editor, I find myself in the difficult position of trying to find a retail copy of Final Cut Studio. Every retailer I've searched no longer stocks the software. I'm worried that I may not be able to get hold of a copy and will be forced to download Final Cut Pro X, despite the fact it has recieved terrible reviews and would rather get the older, better software.
Has Apple phased Studio out of retail because if they have, that's not something I wanted to hear.

In the technology world, especially in the world of video with an ever increasing number of codecs being introduced each year, it would be a reasonable assumption that software that's already two years old (FCP 7) and will never be developed or updated in any way, will only be good for about two to four years.  And that's assuming that you have access to the hardware that supports the older software.  It's my personal prediction that Apple will drop the MacPro line of desktops within the next couple of years.  With their move to iOS and consumer gadgets and software, coupled with the fact that it is generally the video and audio professionals that use beefy desktop system, and the fact that Apple is clearly shifted its focus away from the professional crowd, what will you do when you need new or replacement hardware to run this old, EOL software on and Apple has nothing to offer?
Since you're just starting out, my advice to you would be to start learning actual professional editing software and I'd further strongly suggest that you do that on a different platform than a Mac.  If you can find FCS 3 and have a decent system to run it on, great; you can use that as well.  But I'd plan for an Apple-free future if you want to make a living in video post-production.
I don't make these statements lightly; after all these years using Apple products, I find it's just a sad fact.
