Final Cut Studio 2 Migration path from Final Cut Express

I'm currently using FCE HD 3.5, which I upgraded from FCE version 1.0
I understand that no migration path exists from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Studio 2.
However I have seen on ebay someone selling an upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5 HD from Final Cut express.
I was wondering.... if I got this then could I then get a Final Cut Studio 2 Upgrade from FCP 5 HD?
Does anyone see any problems with doing this? It seems to be a way to save money.
Thanks,
Steve.

And it's well worth it. you can recoup a little of
your cost by uninstalling fce and selling it.
What's required in order to sell it? Can the registration be transferred to a new owner?

    Hi,
I´m checking if there is a Migration Path from EP 5.0 to EP 7.0, has some one done this or know if this is Posible or if we need to go from 5.0 to 6.0 and then to 7.0?

  • Migration Path from v2008.3 to v9.3.2

Is there a migration path from v2008.3 to v9.3.2?
Our v2008.3 environment is on a Windows 2003 server, therefore we cannot do an in-place upgrade to v9.3.2 (on Windows 2008R2).  CatalogDeployer does not work between v2008.3 and v9.3.2.
Any ideas on how to move the services from one environment to another?
    Please help!

We were on 2008.3 and then went to 9.1 SP2.  The upgrade meant we had to install the last service pack for 2008 and then install to 9.1 and then install the SP2 pack.  This change fro 2008.3 to 9.1 SP2 was a big pain for us on the Reporting side.  The MyServices and ServiceDesigner pieces had little problems.  This was an upgrade from Win2003 w/ SQL 2005 to Win2003 w/SQL 2008.  We've been running 9.1 SP2 on SQL2008 for a year now with no problems.
We are now upgrading to 9.3.2 and are just going to run the 9.3.2 installer.  We will have new servers put in place with Win 2008R2 and on the database side have just done an inplace update from SQL 2008 to SQL 2008 R2.  This means that currently we are running 9.1 SP2 on SQL 2008 R2 in production.  We run a very high volume for RequestCenter so the setup works fine for us in this topology.  Going to Win2008 we are going to copy the database tables and run an in-place upgrade on the newly built Win2008 app server.
As for CatalogDeployer, we kept the old environment and the new environment around while testing the upgrade.  This meant we could make changes to Prod using the old environment and then once production was upgraded, we deleted the old environment.

  • Migration path from OWB 9.0.2 to 9.2.0

Hi, we need to migrate OWB from 9.0.2.62.1 to 9.2.0.2.8.
The server platform is Sun Solaris with Oracle 8.1.7.3 (we'll migrate to Oracle 9i but later on).
I've tried to read the manuals but I got lost (also because the architecture of the components is completely changed and much more complex than before! ).
Could somebody give me any suggestion or checklist or pointer to the right documents?
Thanks in advance for any help, Carla

You may want to review the "Migrating to 10.1.3" section in the[i] TopLink Getting Started Guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_04/web.1013/b13594/migrating.htm) and the "Migrating OC4J Orion Persistence to OC4J TopLink Persistence" section in the TopLink Developer's Guide (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/_html/asinteg003.htm) for details.
The API Modification Guide (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/api/api_mod_readme.htm) lists the API changes in 10.1.3.

  • Migration path from 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle TopLink 11g: Technical Preview 2 ?

What is needed to migrate from 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle TopLink 11g Preview 2?
Does using Java 5 and swapping the Jar files are enough?
Can I use as is all the configurations generated by TopLink Workbench 10.1.3.3.0?
What is working in 10.1.3.3.0 that is not yet or will not be working in Oracle TopLink 11g?

If you open the project in the 11g preview it will automatically update the metadata and generate the deployment XML in the new format. Alternatively you should be able to open the 10.1.3.3 metadata in the 11g preview's runtime.
The biggest issue you may encounter in the upgrade besides replacing the libraries and ensuring you are using JDK5 is the removal of the code deprecated in previous releases.

  • What's the migration path from ACS v3.3 to ACS v5.1?

It's a standalone appliance 1112 running on ACS v3.3, how to migrate to another standalone appliance 1120 with ACS v5.1?
Does CISCO have any documents about this?
I remember I used to read an article about how to build a temp ACS v4.2 windows to help this kind of migration, could anyone help to send the doc link to me?

Your basic assumption is correct. There needs to be a two stage process where first migrate to ACS 4.2 on Windows and then from there perform migration to ACS 5.0/5.1.
When ordering ACS 5.0/ACS 5.1 the disk set includes all the software required to perform this upgrade.
Going from from 4.2 to ACS 5.0/5.1 is migration; not upgrade; since need this reads a subset of the data items from ACS 4.2 and creates them on ACS 5.0/ACS5.1. This includes the bulk objects such as devices and internal users. However, the policy configuration on ACS 5.1 needs to be performed manually since follows a very different concept.
The migration guide can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.1/migration/guide/Migration_Book.html

  • Migration Path from Oracle8.0.4 to Oracle 9.2

I need to migrate from Oracle 8.0.4 on Win NT to Oracle9.2 on Win 2000.
I read the Oracle 9i Database Migration.
Direct upgrade is not supported for Oracle 8.0.4. I need to complete the following
    1.     Upgrade to release 8.0.6 using the instructions in the release 8.0.6 READMEMIG.doc file.
    2.     Upgrade the release 8.0.6 database to the new release using the instructions in Upgrading a Database to the New Oracle9i Release
Can you please help me to obtain 8.0.6 READMEMIG.doc file or instructions to upgrade from 8.0.4 to 8.0.4.
    Thanks in advance

    You also read it?

    > Kindly advise I have to upgrade patch 9.2.0.6 and then I have to Oracle Upgrade 9.2.0.6 to 10.2
Page 11 in the upgrade guide - "Planning section"
"If the source database runs Oracle 9.2.0.4, 9.2.0.3, 9.2.0.2, or 9.2.0.1,
you need to update the source database to patch set 9.2.0.6 or later."
Actually the guide from SAP is very good, you just have to read it and follow it step-by-step. Also "mix in" the notes mentioned in the guide.

  • Recommended migration path from Oracle EBS 11i to R12

I believe the best approach would be:
    1. Migrate your existing database ONLY to the new servers.
Using Oracle EBS with a Split Configuration Database Tier on 11gR2 (Doc ID 946413.1)
Export/import notes on Applications 11i Database 11g (Doc ID 557738.1)

  • What migration path from 10.g AS tiers to Fusion Middleware 11g AS tiers ?

    Hi all,
We have purchased Oracle AS Enterprise Edition 10g a couple of months ago and
we are currently running the following tiers :-
    - one Forms & Reports 10.1.2 AS instance,
    - one infrastructure 10.1.4 instance for OID/SSO,
    - one OC4J 10.1.3 instance for ADF applications deployment.
What would be the new tiers et their respective downloads to migrate to 11g with AS EE licences acquired and protected under OTS without having to purchase any new products or options ?
-Portal,Forms,Reports,.. 11g for Forms & Reports. (seems clear in the download list).
-What about ADF 11g deployment ? What to download ? (seems to be Web Logic Server in the Required Additionnal software section but not sure)
-What about OID/SSO ? What to download ? (it seems Forms & Reports 11g will work with OID/SSO 10.1.4 but what about ADF 11g apps deployed on WLS ? it is also going to be able register with 10.1.4 ?
Any clarification will be most welcomed.
    Thanks.

  • TS2951 what is the migration path from 10.5.8 on an iMac to the latest OS Mountain Lion

I have an intel Imac with osx 10.5.8  What is the proper way to upgrade the OS to current Mountain Lion and NOT lose my personal data?

Back up your data, phone the online Apple Store, order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, buy at least 1GB more RAM for your computer, install the DVD, run Software Update, and if your Mac supports Mountain Lion, get it from the Mac App Store.

  • Migration Path for Organizer?

Out of curiousity, what are the "natural" migration paths from Organizer?  Do any software "read" the Organizer DB and convert to their own format (ACDSee?  Lightroom?)?
I'm not planning to move off Photoshop Elements any time soon, but Organizer doesn't appear to get a lot of attention from Adobe and lots of us like to have a Plan B.
I'm not too concerned about Slide Shows (I like JAlbum) or the "map" feature (other free or cheap applications do map tagging in an easier and more standard way).  I'm mostly concerned about tags, notes and collections.
    I know you can force Organizer to write the tags out to the fiel in a standard way (IPTC categories I think) and comments and dates are written to the EXIF header.  But that's "Plan C" ;-}

    solon48 wrote:
Before jumping into the migration/conversion process, I would like to get an excellent understanding of the problems and limitations of the conversion process. Is there a book or document that provides an extensive description of the conversion process and identifies comprehensively and fairly the problems and limitations of such a conversion?
Also, in order to learn to use efficiently Lightroom: is there one or two books that you would recommend me more than others?
Finally I have also a probably simple question: I am not motivated at all to use RAW because of the huge amount of Disk Space required for 30'000-50'000 RAW Photos (andbecause of the time and Disk space required for Backups of such large amounts of Photos). Will I be able to use all (or most?) nice features of Lightroom, even if I continue to use jpeg File formats?
There is no book that covers conversion from PSE to Lightroom.
In general, the conversion from PSE to Lightroom does most of what you would want it to do, so I wouldn't fear the process. The conversion from PSE to Lightroom is not perfect; for one thing, version sets are lost, as there is no concept of version sets in Lightroom. Stacks are maintained upon conversion. Tag hierarchies don't show up in LR exactly as they were in PSE; but its relatively easy to recreate your hierarchies in Lightroom.
I recommend Martin Evening's book, The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book: The Complete Guide for Photographers. I have become quite dis-illusioned with Scott Kelby's books for a number of reasons, so I dis-recommend them.
Your disk space problems exist whether or not your photos are in Lightroom or PSE or neither or both. Lightroom doesn't make this worse or better. Getting more disk space makes this better. Lightroom is an excellent program for RAW photos; it is just as excellent for .jpg photos. What you lose in photo quality is not because of Lightroom's ability to handle .jpg photos; you lose in photo quality because your originals are .jpg and what ANY program can do with these is less than what ANY program can do with RAW photos.
And by the way, I find myself frightened by the thought that someone has 30000 to 50000 photos and doesn't do backups because of disk space problems. This is a recipe for having zero photos some day when your hard drive crashes. If you can't make backups because of disk space issues, I would strongly recommend that you remedy this by getting another hard disk before you address any conversion to Lightroom issues. Spend that money on a disk drive rather than on Lightroom

  • Migration path - Consolidated tool / doc

Is there a consolidated document / tool (like CFO) to know the migration path from the source and destination version.

    Hi,
If you want to migrate a planning application from 9.2 to 11 then you can use the same method as migrating across any version.
Basically using the copying schema/database method which has been covered many many times on here.
    Cheers

  • Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 3.0 to Final Cut Pro X?

Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Studio 3.0 to Final Cut Pro X ?

The price of FCPX pretty much is the cost of the upgrade of FCPStudio, but a much better value (at least so far -- every update has been free.) However, it's only the single app so you might feel like you're not getting as much for your money. Don't be fooled. Most of Color and Soundtrack Pro are built into FCPX. FCPX will conform video automatically so Cinema Tools aren't really needed anymore. The Motion engine is part of FCPX, although I do recommend buying Motion 5 (an extra 50 bucks.)  (Motion 4 seems to have died in Yosemite - you can't even launch it.)
I "upgraded" from Final Cut Studio 3... it took me about a week to decide to pack up all the old software for good. YMMV.  However, if you use DVD Studio Pro... hang on to that.

  • Final Cut Studio 2: upgrade from Final Cut Express HD

I'm guessing I know the answer to this question already, but I'm hoping someone will tell me I'm not correct. Is there an upgrade path from Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1 to Final Cut Studio 2? I don't see one listed on the software page in the Apple store. Seems ashame if there isn't. I'm sure there are other FCE HD owners out there who would like to upgrade rather than starting over for the tune of $1299.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

And it's well worth it. you can recoup a little of
your cost by uninstalling fce and selling it.
What's required in order to sell it? Can the registration be transferred to a new owner?

  • Downgrading from Final Cut Pro Studio to Final Cut Express

Will Final Cut Express let me use the Boris Title 3D Video Generator effect that I now use in Final Cut Pro Studio?
Does it have an outline text video generator effect?
Since I have DVDSP 4.1.2, will I be able to drag my exported non self-contained quicktime movie into DVDSP? I have read I can use iDVD.
I see from the tutorial (http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/tutorials/) it does not have the ability to log clips for batch capture later but it does have a project button. Does anyone use that and can share what it does?
I have a Canon DV20 HD camera which I use for DV also. Since I have read that FCE will not read HDV from this camera, has anyone brought DV in using this camera?
Does anyone see any other negatives to downgrading?
I have been using Final Cut Pro from version 1.5 since it did what I needed it to do. Over the years they have added a plethora of packages to it, none of which I use. So why spend 700.00 to upgrade when I can spend 200 to get what I will use?
    Thanks for your input.

    Lots of questions:
"Will Final Cut Express let me use the Boris Title 3D Video Generator effect that I now use in Final Cut Pro Studio?"
    Yes.
"Does it have an outline text video generator effect?"
Yes, but don't use. Use Title 3D.
"Since I have DVDSP 4.1.2, will I be able to drag my exported non self-contained quicktime movie into DVDSP?"
Yes. Or you can use Compressor, which you should have, to encode your video.
"I see from the tutorial (http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/tutorials/) it does not have the ability to log clips for batch capture later but it does have a project button. Does anyone use that and can share what it does?"
It allows you to log your material first, selecting the pieces on the tape you want to capture and then going back and letting the machine capture the selected pieces.
"I have a Canon DV20 HD camera which I use for DV also. Since I have read that FCE will not read HDV from this camera, has anyone brought DV in using this camera?"
    Never heard of camera.
"Does anyone see any other negatives to downgrading?"
    What version are you using?
