Final Cut Studio 2 trouble

ok, i have final cut studio 2...
for some reason my Mac OSX software got messed up so i had to reinstall Mac OSX...
then i had to go through the process of fixing everything back to normal...
Such as reinstalling applications and such.
My Final Cut Studio 2 programs weren't working, so i decided to delete all the final cut files instead of uninstalling ( Dumb Idea )...
and for some reason after deleting all the apps... i check my hard drive, and i only got rid of 5GB or so...
and that didnt make sense to me b/c FCS 2 is a 50 GB program...
so does anyone know where i can find the rest of the files? or how i can get rid of them ...
please i need help here i would like to install FCS 2 again... but dont want to be stuck with 10GB left in my hard drive...
Thank, Please Help me

you didn't get all of the support files for DVD Studio Pro (8.53GB), Soundtrack Pro (22.68GB), LiveType (10.93GB), and Motion (7.79GB). By default these are located in /Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio and Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro. If you delete them you will only be uninstalling media, no apps. And these are the things that make it take so long to install. When you re-installed the OS, did you wipe the HD first and then install, or did you archive and install. Make sure you do a full wipe of the HD using disk utility while booting from the install DVD and then install the OS and then updates, and then apps, and then updates again. Stay away from OS 10.5.5 and QT 7.5.5. I recommend OS10.5.4, QT 7.5, and FCP 6.0.4. So far I have not had any issues with this combo.

  • Having trouble installing Final cut pro from Final cut studio 2

    hi,
I have just recently got a new mac pro and first installed Logic Studio and all it's components.
I just tried to install Final cut studio 2 and all it's components.
I was able to install most of the components - Live type, cinema tools etc but not Final cut! the tick box is grayed out on the menu! the hard drive is fresh and I've not installed a previous version on that drive ever, when i move the cursor over the final cut option i get a yellow box and it says:
    "TT NEWERALREADYINSTALLED"
    Help!
    Thanks

Take the following steps to resolve this issue:
    1. If it is still running, quit the Final Cut Studio Installer.
    2. In Finder, navigate to /Library/Receipts/.
    3. Locate the file named ProMediaIO.pkg and drag it to the Trash.
    4. Run the Final Cut Studio Installer again.

  • Having trouble installing Final Cut Studio...

So I recently bought my pal's Power Mac G5 dual 2.2GHz, reinstalled the OS (ver. 10.4.11), and am now installing all the software I use, including Final Cut Studio 2. Everything installed fine thus far, until FCS 2, which gets past the audio content portion of the install before stopping. All it says is "Please try to install this software later." (or something to that effect). The discs are good (new), I have a working serial number (it installed/operated perfectly on my old machine before I switched out), and as far as I know this machine is in better shape than my old one (a dual 1.8GHz G5, late 2004 model). My current machine is NOT an Intel model.
Any ideas, brethren? I really need to get back to video editing, and this is slowing . . . me . . . down. Mahalo.

I am having the same problem. I have read many postings and the solutions are not working. I had a hard drive fail in a G5. I am running OS 10.4.11. I replaced the drive with a 250 gig (top bay) loaded the OS and install FCP 5.1 upgrade by using the 4.5 key when requested. Just like Mr. Dirctor stated:
the install asked for the FCPStudio disc to be reinsert after the "audio loops" disc was loaded. The install fails immediately and states: Errors during install - please try again. After another go, skipping audio install, the other install disc Motion, DVD 4, LiveType produces the same error.

    -Running Packages scripts...
-Install time remaining : about a minute
Any idea what should i do ?? should I delete all related files including in the Library etc.. and if I have to do this, how ?

Ran into same problems. Tried many things. Finally removed Apperture because with FCS Remover, it says not to do a complete uninstall if you have other Pro software on your computer. (This is a new computer and I didn't have any pics in Apperture yet). After removing Apperture, I removed ALL of FCP with FCP remover. Then I installed ONLY Final Cut. Yeah! It installed. So I got brave and installed only Motion. It worked fine as well. Then I got greedy and tried to install Live Type. Got hung up again on the "running package scripts". Ugh. Out of time. I really wanted these three applications at least. I'm bummed that I can only get two of them.

  • Final Cut Studio install - Trouble with DVDSP 4 Preferences & Burn / menus

Hi there. I recently upgraded my dual G5 to Tiger and upgraded my FCP 4.5 & DVDSP 2 by installing a full version of Final Cut Studio.
Final Cut is working fine. DVDSP is not. It opens fine, however when I choose to open the Preferences to setup format (PAL) and encoding prefs, etc - I do not get a dialogue box. If I try the shortcut, I see the menu bar light, but again no dialogue box.
I tired to build a new project with compressor encoded mpeg2 & aiff streams and found that Burn / Build & Format are greyed out in the menu. I know that the file types are fine as I have used them before without any issues. I checked to see that the correct serial number is for FC Studio and it is. I have also ran all of the updates.
I also find that Compressor is often a little buggy. Sometimes works fine, other times crashes.
    Anyone have any ideas?
I really do not want to reformat by reinstalling Tiger fresh. I am thinking about trying to delete all of Final Cut Studio and the older FCP & DVDSP apps on my machine.
I would really appriciate some advice beofre I get myself into any mess!
    Thanks for reading!!

Hello. Many thanks to everyone that tried to help me.
My problem has now been solved by the same post in the DVDSP forum. Here is the post that solved all of my problems.

Even though the software update appeared as if I was completely up to date, the ProAppRuntime.dmg solved all of my issues. Thanks David S.!!!

I would like to say BIG THANK YOU to David S.!!! I DL'ed & installed the update you mentioned. After a restart, DVDSP 4 is now working fine. The update resolved my preference & burning & building issues. I am very HAPPY to have a reprive from a fresh install.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 and video app chaos

    Hi,
Did anyone find after installing Final Cut Studio 2 that their 3rd party apps to do with video extraction/conversion suddenly start to unexpectedly quit when in operation? It's a brand new MacPro, lovely machine until Final Cut software went and messed things up. I won't mention the trouble I had to install both Logic Studio and FCS since they both share similar components and included apps, Apple's installer is not designed to cope and I had to mess about with the receipts folder to get both installed. This page was available yesterday http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1110?locale=en_GB to give an insight of the problems between the two. Anyhow, I think the best solution is to remove Final Cut software as I'm not up for spending hours debugging.

I had a huge issue pop up with me too...and I figured the best way was to wipe the drive, install the OS and FCP from scratch. Took a day, but better than spending more time trying to figure things out.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 and Canon hv20

I'm currently working on Final Cut Studio 2 and I'm looking at buying a Canon HV20. I've looked into some threads on this one and it seems that people are having trouble with this camera on FC Studio 2. Is there anyone out there that can attest to smooth and efficient workflow with this set up? A major selling point for me is the 24p, tell me it works well, please tell me it works well.
    thank you,
    t r e y v o n

HV20 works perfectly at 24p in FCP 6.0.2.
Added advantage is that you can capture uncompressed (with HDMI card and fast drive/RAID) at much higher quality and resolution than HDV.
Quality is so good, you can create great 1920 x 1080 24p green screen shots (using 4:2:2 color space from HDMI) and dvMatte Pro 3.
The next step up to get better quality at 24p is around $5K-$6K range (I think?).
Here's a small image of a 24p frame shot on green screen with the HV20:

  • Final Cut Studio 2 and avc-intra

I am using Final Cut Studio 2 and am having trouble with .mxf files. I downloaded the avc-intra decoder drive from Panasonics site and a majority of the files ended 3/4 of the way through with sever audio noise at the end. I sent the drive back to the cameraman to see if he had better luck, turns out he did... Though I saw that he was using Final Cut Studio 3 and the quicktime files he provided back were formatted as AVC-Intra 100M...which is neither playable in quicktime or editable in Final Cut Studio 2.
What am I missing? Time to upgrade? What can I do in the meantime.
    Thanks for the ideas!

Well, you can't use the file he sent unless you upgrade. But if you get the card dumps back, you should be able to LOG AND TRANSFER to ProRes on your system fine. Or was that the issue? They had garbage at the end?
Trashing preferences fixes a lot of FCP oddities.

  • No Final Cut Studio System ID file: Must re-enter the SN every time.

I was having trouble with needing to re-enter the FCS 3 SN every time I open an app. I am going mad. Another thread said to delete the Final Cut Studio System ID file then restart the program. Well now I have no Final Cut Studio System ID file and I STILL need to enter the SN every **** time I launch a program.
This was an upgrade from the FCS academic version.
    Any help?

OK, let's give this a try.
First, let's create the systemid file again by launching Final Cut Pro and and re-register. This should create the files in the /tmp/ directory.
Then run this command in the Terminal.
    launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.aelwriter.plist
    launchctl start com.apple.aelwriter
Finally, run this command in the Terminal. It will ask you to enter your admin passward.
    sudo /usr/sbin/AELWriter -installer
The files should have moved from /tmp/ to /Library/Application Support/ProApps/. If not then, something might be preventing from moving those files... perhaps a permission problem?

  • I just bought Final Cut Studio right before this new version...

I just bought Final Cut Studio right before this new version came out. Am I eligible for a free upgrade to the new software?

I'm sorry, but these replies have been ludicrous.  To actually answer your question, I would think they would honour their usual 14-day return policy, but you would need to speak with Apple directly.
As to the whole "which is better" debacle, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro 7 is the more polished and fleshed out piece of editing software, and what everyone is most familiar with to boot.  But let's be honest, what do you expect for software that is ten years old versus three days.  The fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone editing with Apple's software in the not so distant future is going to be editing on Final Cut Pro X, hands down.  It's fundamentally that much better.  You nay-sayers out there, if you don't switch to Adobe or Avid, you will go to FCP X!  There is a reason for that, and there will be an even stronger reason for that with every update.  People don't seem to understand that.
In your situation, if you don't own either, it makes a whole lot more sense to me for you to just roll with the hiccups FCP X brings if you can at all handle it.  If not, you are going to spend $999 now on FCS 3 and another $400 in the near future when you decide to take the leap.  Is there something worth $1000 to you in FCS 3 that FCP X doesn't offer?  If so, then great, go ahead.  It's an amazing piece of software.  If not, enjoy the head start on what editing is going to look like for the next ten years.
All the best talking with Apple.  The way that they are pushing FCP X I would hope you don't run into any trouble.

  • Final Cut Studio lost S/N

I've upgraded to Leopard and now have to re-enter my serial number before I can use any of my Final Cut Studio (ver 1) applications. I'm also having trouble with the system recognizing my HP All-In-One (1315v) scanner. Everything else seems to work, but since I primarily edit video and author DVDs this is becoming a real problem for me.
I don't want a new FC Studio serial number, I just want to be able to use my old one. Unfortunately, I have lost it. All the other packaging materials are present and accounted for, just not this most important part. Is there a solution?

    Thanks thrillcat.
I went ahead and installed and things are working normal so far. I downloaded the latest DP 4.6 patches as well.
    Whew,
    Todd

  • Errors During Instalation Of Final Cut Studio 5.1

    Aloha,
I am having some trouble here!! I am trying to install FCP Studio Pro 5.1 on my mac. I tried to do an upgrade from FCP 4.5 HD on my orriginal Hard drive. The instalation went through its paces & asked me to put in the second disc. I did then it came back with an anoucment that there were errors during instalation & to try again I did & was never able to get it to instal... Getting frustrated I ran diskworior on the drive & tried again no luck... after some time I thought it might be the drive would not let me because there was an earlier version on there.... so any way after some other problems with this drive I decided to completely erase & instal Mac OSX on my second hard drive that has never had anything on it. I made this my new startup disk & upgraded the OS to OS 10.4.9 I then Tried to install FCP Studio Pro 5.1 on this drive.. this time It never got to ask me to put in another disk it came back with the same error during instalation try again!!!!!! So now I am getting ******!! but odly enough Final cut studio shows up in my aplications. When I click on it it gives me a warning that there was an error registering & once I click ok it seems to launch FCP 5.1....... ?? So is it really there or not??? & why is it not installing the other 4 discs??? and to add insult to this I have tried to install iLife 06 & I get the same error!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!
Another thing.. I installed FCP Studio Pro 5.1 on another Identical computer down the street & it installed no problem!!!!
    Can anyone help Please!!!!!!

I would take a different approach.
I would backup the old drive files to an external, and then do a clean wipe and new install of OS, updates and the FCS.
Best way to do it, in my view.

  • Final cut studio pro 6 install problems and error message

Purchased a new macbook and am having trouble installing Final Cut Studio Pro 6- get this error message: You can't open the appliction FinalCutStudio.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported  - have never seen this before, any clues?

The installer requires Rosetta to be present, but Lion doesn't include it anymore. You can try to install Rosetta from a Snow Leopard disc using the "Optional Installs". Note that this is not officially supported: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4769
There have also been reports that Lion will break most plugins for FCS 2 and FCS 3.

  • Installation of Final Cut Studio on new Mac Pro

    Hello all,
I have just purchased a new Mac Pro, and am preparing to install Final Cut Studio upgrade. The wrinkle for me is that I have Final Cut Pro 3.02 installed on an old G4 Power Mac. I have two video projects on the old computer, also backed up on external drives, that I want to be able to edit on the new computer.
I am planning to install my old FCP software on my new Mac Pro, then install the FCS upgrade software. Is there anything I should know or do before doing this to make sure that I will not have any trouble either 1) installing Final Cut Studio upgrade, or 2) accessing my old FCP files.
Many thanks in advance for your wisdom and assistance.

I've successfully installed Final Cut Studio. Thanks, David, for the installation tip.
Now I am holding my breath that I will not have any trouble copying scratch files for my most important projects to my second hard drive, or opening these projects on my new computer.
