Final Cut Studio 3 won't install on iMac.

I'm trying to install FCP3 on my iMac and all it does is spit the disc back out. I seem to have all the requirements needed and can't figure this out. Any suggestions?

If the computer sees the dvd or you have access to another computer that does, here's a great workflow which involves making disk images of the install disks.

I've used this method and keep a drive with the disk images so when I have to reinstall fcp, it's a much, much faster and more foolproof process

  • Final Cut Pro 7 won't install

    Hi everyone,
I am unable to install FCP 7 on my Macbook Pro. When I click on "Install Final Cut Studio" I just get an error message, saying "You can't open the application "FinalCutStudio.mpkg" because PowerPW applications are no longer supported". I've read up about it on the Internet but all I've gotten is threads about FCP2 or how to do a clean install, but I've never had this application downloaded on my machine before.
    Thanks in advace!

  • Final Cut Studio 6 won't launch

I purchased the upgrade for Final Cut Studio 2 no long ago. Since yesterday I haven't been able to launch it. I open it, say continue when it tells me it can't find a deck (because one isn't plugged in) and then it just sits there and the spinning beach ball comes up. Either I have to force quit, or I wait to see what happens and it "unexpectedly quits." First I thought that my "Western Digital" Hard drive was the problem. I ejected it and started the program again. I reset the scratch disks (because the WD drive was one of them, so when it said it couldn't find it I just put everything to my Mac HD). That didn't work. There may be something wrong with my preferences, but if I can't open FCP I won't be able to fix them.
    What should I do?
    Thank you.

Ahhh ... now you tell us!
Well, if one or both of those was the culprit for this specific problem I don't know, as virus projection software tends to install at the system level rather than the user level, I 'd have thought that any problem caused by them would affect all user accounts.
Either way, you would be very well advised to uninstall any virus protection apps from your production system. despite the paranoia-mungers there still remains no evidence of any real virus threat on the Mac platform, and certainly nothing that cannot be wholly and completely avoided by simple common sense security practices. Those third party "security" apps, due to their very nature, will or could significantly degrade the performance of your pro apps which are constantly creating file data on your system ... the virus scan apps would be aggressively scanning any and all of these files ( media, render cache files etc) in case those files be some malign code from an unknown or unapproved source. So uninstall, turn off or otherwise get rid of the anti virus apps on your edit system.
Ok, anti-anti-virus rant over. Your easiest solution for the meantime is to turn on fast user switching and use your new clean account when you want to use your Pro Apps. For the long run, you might want to consider backing up / cloning your system, and then doing a full clean reinstall of both system and apps. Your Mac would thank you for it
    Cheers

  • Final Cut Studio 2 won't except my old serial number, what should I do?

Final Cut Studio 2 installation software reports invalid serial number when I enter my serial number from Final Cut Studio.
    What am I doing wrong?
My Final Cut Studio is an upgrade from an older version of Final Cut. Can I upgrade an upgrade?
My computer is not connected to the internet, is this a problem?
    Please HELP!

You don't need an internet connection to install Final Cut Studio.
You will be asked to register the software, but you don't have to do this. Although a reminder to register will pop up about every 4th or 5th time the software is opened.
When you use upgrade serial numbers, you usually get a warning that you need the number from a full licensed copy. Enter that and then the new serial that came with the upgrade.

  • Will Final Cut Studio 1 run on new silver imacs running leopard?

looking for advice or answers to this dilemma of mine...
i've got a client who needs to run final cut pro 5(client owns intel upgraded version) using basic cutting features almost as an off-line editor to send his edit files and media to me to on-line edit. have been looking at used imac and have found a g5 imac but it seems too expensive compared to the price of the new imacs.
so my question.. is anyone out there running final cut studio 1 (FCP 5 et. al.) successfully on an intel machine using the leopard OS (ideally new gen. imac)? or should i bite the bullet and buy the used g5 imac at a ridiculously inflated price?
    thanks in advance,
    grant

I have a Quad G5 and an 8core 3ghz, both running FSC2 side by side. G5 is a FCS upgrade to FCS2 with the 8 core a brand new FCS2. The G5 still rocks, I have set renders going of the same HD edit and the 8 core wins by a tiny margin. The G5 has no problems but the 8 core fell apart with the 2.01 update. Compressor problems!
I thought about selling the G5 and buying another Intel but it hasn't let me down once in 18 months so I'm keeping it.

  • Final Cut Studio 6 won't open

I had a problem with a lot of apps not opening but i did an archive and install and that seemed to fix the problem. But today i tried opening final cut, and it would bounce once in the dock, and would not open. I tried soundtrack pro and Motion and it did the same thing. Other apps work fine. Anyone know what might be happening?
    Thanks in advance

  • Final Cut Studio 1 fails to install on new MBP

I'm trying to install FCS 1 onto my new 2.53 MBP but I get the error: "Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software. See the Read Me for details."
The software ran fine on my old 2.0 MB. Any ideas how I can get this working?

FCS 1 was a non-intel version of the Studio Package. Contained FCP 5.0, Motion 3.0...stuff like that. That version will not work on the new Intel Macs. You need the Crossgrade version (FCP 5.1, Motion 3.1...etc) that was available for a VERY cheap price for over a year...several years ago.
Now your only option is to get FCS 2.0 (available from AMAZON.COM) or the new FCS 3. The Crossgrade was never a stand alone package.

  • Final Cut Express 2 won't install HELP

I try to open the app and it says "CONFIGURATION ERROR... this software requires certain hardware or software which is missng: AGP graphics card." Anyone know a fix for this issue? Or why this is? I'm currently running a quad g5. Any help would be more then appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I had the exact same problem last month. Your graphics card is fine, don't worry. Unfortunately, you do need to install the latest upgrade of FCE (which I think is 2.0.3. but I could be wrong) To do this, you first need to register your existing version, then you need to go to FCE site, type in all your registration details, then download the latest upgrade. I'm afraid you need broadband to download this. Bit of a con, because I wasn't planning on getting broadband, but had to fork out just to get my version of FCE to work. Hope this works.

  • Final Cut Express 2 won't run on iMac G5 ("iSight")?

Recently installed FCE2, (educational version that my college owns).
Every time I start FCE2 for the first time, it reports a "Configuration error: This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing. AGP grahics card" With the only option, a Quit button.
But my iMac G5 has PCI video.
I've run Software Update, but problem persists. Does that mean it's incompatible with an iMac G5? Is there a patch I can obtain that allows it to work?

  • Problems installing Final Cut Studio on my new Macbook Pro

I just got my new 17 inch Macbook Pro, and am trying to install Final Cut Studio 3.  It installed just fine, and accepted the serial number.  The problem is that every time I open the application, I have to reenter the serial number.  Once I do that, it runs fine, but the next time, I have to reenter the info again.  Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
    Rob Krampf

do some searching here.  I remember other people having this problem.  You might also try repairing permissions on your startup drive, deleting your fcp preferences
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2491
And creating a new account in system preferences:  accounts.

  • Having trouble installing Final Cut Studio...

So I recently bought my pal's Power Mac G5 dual 2.2GHz, reinstalled the OS (ver. 10.4.11), and am now installing all the software I use, including Final Cut Studio 2. Everything installed fine thus far, until FCS 2, which gets past the audio content portion of the install before stopping. All it says is "Please try to install this software later." (or something to that effect). The discs are good (new), I have a working serial number (it installed/operated perfectly on my old machine before I switched out), and as far as I know this machine is in better shape than my old one (a dual 1.8GHz G5, late 2004 model). My current machine is NOT an Intel model.
Any ideas, brethren? I really need to get back to video editing, and this is slowing . . . me . . . down. Mahalo.

I am having the same problem. I have read many postings and the solutions are not working. I had a hard drive fail in a G5. I am running OS 10.4.11. I replaced the drive with a 250 gig (top bay) loaded the OS and install FCP 5.1 upgrade by using the 4.5 key when requested. Just like Mr. Dirctor stated:
the install asked for the FCPStudio disc to be reinsert after the "audio loops" disc was loaded. The install fails immediately and states: Errors during install - please try again. After another go, skipping audio install, the other install disc Motion, DVD 4, LiveType produces the same error.

  • TS1110 How do I reinstall Final Cut Studio 7

    1. I used FCS_Revover to uninstall Final Cut Studio 7, and I deleted all files in Library/Receipts.
    2. Used my Final Cut Studio disc to re-install, entered my name, serial number,... upto "installation type" step, Final Cut Pro is set to "skip".
What else should I do to be able to reinstall Final Cut Pro 7?

    1. Get the free "Preference Manager" from Digital Rebellion (dot com) and trash FCP's preferences.
    2. Make sure all hard drives on your system have at least 15% of their total capacity as free space.
    3. Make sure you've not set your OS drive as your Scratch Drive.
    4. Run Disk Utility to repair all drives.
    5. Run Disk Warrior if none of the above helps.
It's very rare that you need to re-install a Mac app to make it work right.  Most problems like yours can be solved much more easily, and are due to issues a re-install won't help.

  • I'm having problems registering Final Cut Studio

I recently purchased and installed Final Cut Studio. I successfully installed it, except there was a message at the beginning of the process saying there was some sort of registration problem. I don't know exactly what the message was and can't replicate it now. the program did complete the install process but when I try to open individual application I am prompted to enter a registration again. I tried entering the number that registers the whole suite but that didn't work.

I am afraid to do this because my hard drive is almost full. this brings up another question. I wanted to do a custom install and put what ever I could on another ATI drive in my computer but somehow that custom install thing seemed to fly right by without giving me an oppourtunity to do anything. What will happen if I reinstall? Will it install all the content again? I only have 9GB left on that hard drive. I was going to try to move all that once I was able to open the apps. How can I just uninstalll everything and just start over?

  • Final Cut Studio Installation problem HELP!

    Hi
Ive just bought Final Cut Studio and have a laptop G4 and a new G5.
I previously had FCP 4.5 in the G4 and updated to 5.1 with Final cut studio.
Then I installed the Final Cut Studio on the G5. Initially I got an error message: "Licensing Error: The license file will not be written to disk because the user does not have enough privileges."
I continued installing the software which took around an hour to load all different parts of studio package.
I tried to open the various programs but when I entered the serial number I get a message "Licensing error, This application cannot continue because the licensing data is corrupt."
I get this error message even when I try to open Motion or DVD studio Pro which I didnt install on the G4.
The licence on FC studio states that the software can be used on 2 computers (one laptop and one standalone) but not at the same time.
So am I able to use the software on the G5?
    Many thanks in advance
    Shane
