Final Cut Studio Registration Issue

I recently purchased FCS and tried to register the product. However, there was a problem with my internet connection and form wasn't posted. I got a message saying that the registration info will be sent when I connect to the net next time. This hasn't happened although my connection is back now. I was worried so I registered it on the Apple Support site using serial #, marketing part # & support ID. However, I never got any email confirmation and I'm not even able to find the link that would show my registered products online. Where can I find this information? I just want to make sure that all information is properly registered with Apple.

I don't believe that Apple lists the applications/software you have registered.
It does list downloaded software purchases and hardware you have registered.
But no internet available database of your registered Apple software is available to my knowledge.

  • Deleting Final Cut Studio Registration Information

    Hey guys,
Just bought Final Cut Studio and I notice that every time I open FCP the registration information pops up. I dont want to register and the pop up is getting annoying. Is there a way for me to delete that file so it will never appear in the future again? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  • Final Cut Studio Registration

I tried to register my Final Cut Studio about a year and a half ago and apparently my attempt to do so failed. Now I'm trying again so I can update my software. After repeated attempts I just get the message "This information does not appear to be in our records." I've checked my software serial number repeatedly. I've typed it exactly as it appears on the sticker.
What can I do from here? I find it a bit crazy that the serial number isn't working. Anyone have a suggestion? Any hope that I can call someone at Apple about this? Thanks

Thanks for the reply Michael. As I say, I'm certain I'm being accurate when typing out the serial number, including being careful with the "0"s and "O"s, the "5"s and "S"s, etc. In general the letters and numbers are in groups of threes except that the very first letter stands alone. So using "L" to represent letters and "#" to represent numbers, the serial number is in this format: L-###-LLL-###-LLL-###-LLL-###-LLL-LLL. Does this sequence of letters and numbers appear correct to you? To me it seems far fetched that I would have somehow been issued an invalid serial number with my FCS suite. But at this point it's the only conclusion I can draw. If it is true that there is something about my serial number that is invalid, do you have any idea what recourse I may have? Is it pure fiction to think I can contact someone at Apple about this?

  • Final Cut Studio & Antivirus issue

    Hi,
we,re about to install a new editing suite with Final Cut Studio 3. The IT people want to install an antivirus software on the Mac. I don't want to dabate if it's useful or not, I just want to know if FCS has any problem with that. I heard somewhere that an antivirus shouldn't be installed on a computer running Final Cut but cannot find any reliable source about that.
    Thanks.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 issues with some AU Audio Plug ins

Just installed Final Cut Studio 2. When trying to open the program, every time it reaches the audio filters loading part of the load, it crashes. It's seeing Celemony Melodyne, a vocal tuning plug in, and then it just stalls and crashes. All attempts to remove Celemony Melodyne from my computer haven't seem to make any difference. It keeps trying to laod that plig in. Is there any way to tell FCStuido 2 to NOT look for certain audio filters(plugins) during the loading process?

You can use a free Audio Unit manager app (like AudioUnit Manager) or even better, use Jon Chappell's Plugin Manager tool (which is part of his excellent FCS Maintenance Pack)

  • How many registration keys come with the new Final Cut Studio

Hi I'm thinking of buying the new final cut studio and am trying to find out how many registration keys come with the box. I have 2 others in the family that would use it on their comps as well, and my friend had gotten the previous version of final cut studio 2 (final cut pro 6) and said it came with 3 keys inside, which would be great for me. So I'm just making sure that's true. Thanks.
Also you can bring final cut pro 6 files from another computer onto a computer with final cut pro 7 and still work on them right?

    Hello Gibbs,
    Welcome to the forum.
    Re: your question.
Your friend is a pathological lier (or delusional - sometimes it's hard to tell the difference).
FCP is licensed for one laptop and one desktop as long as:
    1. Both machines are owned by YOU (your inlaws don't count as you)
    and
    2. They are not used at the same time.
If your family wants FCS, time for them to purchase their own copies. (Apple has dropped the price so low that even Junior High School students can afford their own copies now.)
Yes, FCP6 files will open without issue on FCP7. The reverse is not true.
    Have fun.

  • Final cut studio 3 and my mac pro major and unnecessary issues

just a heads up, sorry for my grammar, I have been using final cut pro since it was 3.0 on my old g4 upgraded to every version since. ive edited on final cut pro ruffly 40 hours+ per week since. now i just upgraded to final cut studio 3 about 2 weeks ago and ive been having major issues with speed and freezing and rendering and the new sharing features and motion and everything.
    lets start from the beginning.
i have a mac pro 1,1 with dual core intel xeon 2.66 ghz
    7 gb of ram
osx 10.5.8 (cant upgrade to snow leopard just yet due to sxs problems and heard its even slower)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (thinking may be the culprit)
i have 2 monitors one 22" and my main 24" running both through a dvi cable
now the first hour i started working the computer froze up completely, mouse frozen and everything
(never happened before) after a day of unexpected quits and constant restarts i disconnected my second monitor.
im still having the speed problems sometimes even seeing scrambled images for icons on my os dock. i dont know what to do. ill leave something to render over night, wake up and check on it and the program quit. again. i have a deadline on a video coming very quick, and ive been searching this issue on all the discussion boards here and creative cow and haven't seen an answer yet. spoke to customer support early in the issue and tried everything they said ie: new user, different drive, yada yada yada. the only thing i havent done is reinstall osx and flush my whole computer. im definatly not prepared to do so and then still have the problem. anyway. if anyone can get through this runon of a post please please help im despreate. let me know if you need anymore info and ill be glad to provide it, and if anyone that helps lives in the ny area i would be honored to buy you a drink in return for your support.
    thanks for your time.

HOW did you upgrade? Install FCS 3 on top of FCS 2? That is not the best way to do it. Plus some of the issues you are having seem like OS issues. The best thing to do is the "scorched Earth" approach. Fresh install of the OS and fresh install of FCS 3. Always when upgrading this is the best method. And the make sure that you can go back if things don't work is to get a NEW hard drive, install the OS and FCS3 on that, and keep the old drive. Or clone your hard drive (carbon copy cloner), then erase and install. Or at least clone your drive before you update what you have (which is not the best way).
Too late now, I know, but file that away for the future. Now you should backup all your data, then erase and install Leopard again, then install your Apps. This will take a day, maybe a day and a half, and then you will be up and running. Better than trying to stuggle for days or weeks with a staggering OS.

  • Final Cut Studio & Logic Studio upgrade issue

I am mainly audio based but have been working on projects more recently with Final Cut Studio 2 to deal with the video. As I use both Logic Studio 8 and Soundtrack Pro 2 a lot, and Final Cut Pro less, I plumped for the upgrade to Logic Studio which also contains STP 3 and Compressor 3.5 which seemed the right thing to do.
However the install info and dvd doesn't want you to install STP 3 or Compressor 3.5 if you have Final Cut Studio 2 as they "contain updated components that are incompatible with Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier. If the Logic Studio installer detects Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier on your system, it automatically deselects the checkboxes for Soundtrack Pro and Compressor in the Custom Install pane."
Personally I didn't want to run to the expense of upgrading Final Cut as I don't use Motion, Colour or Cinema Tools and although I am working heavily in DVD Studio Pro they haven't done anything to upgrade that application (boo!)
So what's the deal? Am I unable to upgrade ST Pro to version 3 and also unable to benefit from the upgraded Compressor even though I've actually paid for an upgrade that promised me these options, and no mention until I'd opened the package that there would be any incompatibility issues with Final Cut Studio 2!
Anyone know what these 'incompatible components' are?
Sounds like sharp practice and bad product integration to me...

I just spoke with someone in Apple Reseller Channel Sales and he told me that what is shipping now is strictly the Universal version. So, if you order a Final Cut Studio Upgrade from FCP HD ($699 retail, IIRC), you will receive the FCS Universal version in the big box with all the docs.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Registration

    Dear all,
As a newbie, please kindly help me with any advise.
I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP2). Once I installed, the 'register now' button, couldn't be selected (dimmed). The only button that could be selected was 'register later'.
Could anybody help me how this thing happened? How do i register then? Do i need to register?
Thank you all for your kind attention.
    MacPro 3Ghz Dual Quad Core / 5GB RAM / 250GB Int HD / 1.5TB Ext HD / FCS 2   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Thanks all,
I did follow your instructions, ~/Library/Preferences:
    - com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist (deleted)
    Final Cut Pro User Data,
    - Final Cut Pro 6.0 Preferences (deleted)
    - Final Cut Pro OBJ Cache (deleted).
First time I re-launch after those deletion, it did appear the registration information form. But, still, the button 'register now' still couldn't be selected, even though at that time I was connected to the internet.
Please kindly let me know if any other way to get it registered.
    Thanks a lot.
Note: Another thing that happened, on 'Color' application that came with Final Cut Studio 2 package, when I was trying to launch, message appear: 'Unable to initialize OpenGL. Make sure Video Desktop is disable', and straight quit. Any comment? Thx

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Installation issue

When I was installing Final Cut Studio 2, at the beginning of the install when it verifies if you system is compatible, I received the notice that Compression and Live Type would not load. My retailer tells me my system should handle FCS2 and I shouldn't be getting that message.
I also have FC Express pre-loaded on my system...could this be part of the issue?
Thanks in advance - creative type here and not a techie...

The computer was purchased in Sept. 2010. The OS is updated as per automatic notifications and this is the initial install of FC.
    Thanks for the quick response.

  • Final Cut Studio keeps asking for ID registration

Hi folks. Every time I go to start up ANY of the Final Cut Studio applications it ask me for my name company info and serial number. I am already registered with Apple, so what the ****? Thanks...

Using the Finder, navigate to the following location:
systemHD/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID
Move the file to the trash, next time you launch FCP, you'll be prompted to enter your serial number, after you do that, a new system ID file will be created. That should solve your problem

  • Final Cut Studio 2 install issue

OK, so I'm only just upgrading to FCS 2. I currently use Final Cut Studio (5.1) and bought the upgrade version of FCS 2. It is rejecting my serial number as invalid. How can this be? It's not recognizing my current version of FCS on my drive either. Anyone have this problem?
I bought this unused, shrinkwrapped version from someone on ebay.

It's very easy to shrink wrap, Can you contact the seller.

  • Serial Number issues when installing Final Cut Studio upgrade

I am trying to install iDVD from my Final Cut Studio V3.0 Upgrade on my new Mac Pro (Late 2013). I put the Serial Number that came with the upgrade in and then it requests the serial number from my original Final Cut Studio. It says the original serial number is invalid.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.4. There are no other computers on my network.  I've done the usual things, repair permission and a restart with no joy.
    What am I doing wrong.

  • Final Cut Studio 3 activation - Temp. on one computer till new one arrives?

So I would like to purchase and install Final Cut Studio 3 on my iMac for a while, until I count my pennies right and purchase a Mac Pro.
Will there be any issues in regards to the serial key and activation/registration?
For example, in the Adobe Creative Suite I can deactivate my registration so I will not have any issues when I re-install the software on another computer.
Is there a deactivation option in the Final Cut Studio 3 suite? Do I only have one opportunity to install FCS3 on the computer I intend to keep it on? How about if I choose to format and install Snow Leopard?
    Thanks in advance guys!
    Andrew

As an artist, and a youngin', I actually disagree. As long as someone doesn't say they created my art, I would be happy if my art was so ingrained in society that someone thought to do a mashup. It's free publicity. The way to protect your intellectual property is to *be the best provider of it*. If someone sees your work on YouTube, and you have marketed it successfully, people will seek out the best version. If you have that, you control it. Don't think for a second that the MPAA or RIAA are interested in protecting intellectual property. They are protecting their business.
For reference, take a look at Disney. Look at the first animated feature he made. It was called Steamboat Willie, and was a parody of Steamboat Bill, Jr., a Buster Keaton film. He didn't make it up. He stole it. Do you think Andy Warhol paid royalties to the guy who designed the Campbell's soup logo? Do you think the general masses thought that HE designed it? No. People are not stupid. They know what the real thing is, and what a rip off is. This subject is so open right now, and a lot of people are slow to realize that there is a huge paradigm shift in how art is delivered to the people. The value of a Picasso painting is not in the image. It's in the actual canvas that he painted on. The texture he used, which can't be duplicated, no matter how good of an artist one is. It's in the materials he used, and the conditions under which it was painted. It's the age, and the fact that it was cared for and protected to last. No lithograph takes that away.
Before you criticize my post, know that I am a filmmaker and photographer. I think I am very good at it, but my work has not infiltrated the Hollywood shield, but if any of you want to use, mock, mashup, or whatever... my stuff, go ahead. On the honor system, I just ask that you let people know that I was the original creator.
Go ahead, call me names, tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I am not going to argue with any of you, I've done it too much on this forum, and frankly, it makes it less fun to be here. But I think things will progress much faster and better if people learn to develop a new model rather than clinging to one that is no longer viable. Fact is, the internet and sharing of content will NEVER be controlled. Take a look at Open Video on the Web. There is a lot going on, and people are making TONS of money giving stuff away. Look at the mashups of Steven Colbert. He even prompted people to use parts of his show. And everyone loves it.
If you see your stuff on YouTube, and you don't want it there, report the post, and they'll take it down. If it had a lot of views, take note. Search the Web for people asking where they can see that cool video that was taken down from YouTube. Post your video on a pay site, then answer the posts and tell them where they can see it. YouTube just got you your first 1000 viewers... Or, put it back on YouTube, but on YOUR account, ask YouTube for an advertising deal, and make money. They only make those deals with people who's videos get a lot of hits, but the "What The Buck" guy is making hundreds of thousands of dollars making videos in his home office using a Web cam and a blue sheet hanging behind him.
You can't stop progress, but you can be left behind...

  • Final Cut Studio 2: needing to update older version before install

I am trying to install FCS 2 upgrade from FCS, but it tells me I have an older version and that it "needs to be updated" before I can continue. The manual says that "To avoid compatibility issues, the Final Cut Studio installer requires you to update all Final Cut Studio applications to the version included with Final Cut Studio 2." I am not sure what this means, since I am just now installing FCS 2. I've read the messages here about upgrading from FCP 5.0.4, my FCP version, to 5.1 via a crossgrade on disks from Apple. Does this mean that I need to buy this crossgrade before I can finish the upgrade to FCS 2? This requirement is not listed on the FCS 2 box, but I can't seem to find anything else that would "update" my older version. And is this true for each of the other applications in the suite?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't need to buy the crossgrade. I just updated the PPC version of FCS to FCS2 yesterday. (I had transferred these applications over to my new Intel Mac from a G5 even though I knew they wouldn't run on the Intel Mac until I could update with the Universal version). What I did end up having to do was to manually delete everything from the PPC installation (applications, preferences, application support files, etc.). Then install from the FCP2 disks, having your old FCP registration number ready to enter in the dialogue box that comes up when you try to upgrade. While the installer says you are upgrading, in fact it installs the new universal versions of the applications.
