Final cut won't open.. It starts to load but doesnt open..

The last thing it said was scratch disk has gone offline... then it closed and i havent been able to open it.... If anybody knows what to do... please help mE!!!!! I am on a deadline for school

Make a copy of your Final Cut Express Preferences (in case this doesn't work(, and then trash the prefs. Also, try trashing all your render files (located in "Final Cut Express Documents").

Iphoto won't open, it's continuously "loading" but never opens

When I open iphoto, or even plug in a device that opens it, I get the screen and the rotating circle, but the program never loads. I can't get to any of my photos this way. Any troubleshooting tips? Anyone else have this issue?

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto database fro the last automatic backup

Possible corrupted project or media fies. Here's what I'd suggest.
First trash preferences. If that doesn't work…
Move your Final Cut Projects folder into a folder named Hidden Folder. See if FCP then launches. If it doesn't hide your Final Cut Events folder. Once FCP launches successfuly, create a test event and project.
To track down the problem, successively move load events and projects from hideen to their proper location and open FCP. When and if you get the crash you have hopefully located the problem.
The easiest way to do this is to purchace Event Manager X ($5).

Final Cut Express 3.5 - Problems Starting Up

Hi there,
I recently purchased Final Cut Express 2.0 and installed it onto my computer. After running into numerous glitches, I upgraded to FCE 3.5.
I installed FCE 3.5 and LiveType and Soundbooth both are working great. However, when I open FCE, it begins to open and starts to load. You assume it is going to load in, but then the screen disappears and you are back to the desktop.
I have deleted the preference files from the library, figuring that would be the solution. However, it seems as if that still has not solved my problem.
Can anybody lend some advice as to what else I might try? If you have steps on how to do these things, that'd be great, too.
I need to get this fixed by the weekend.
NOTE: Someone said to try repairing Disc Permissions? What will that do? Will my information/docuemnts, etc be deleted? Someone also said to try re-installing? I need back ups, however, if these two things don't work.
The apple support people that I called said I should come on here, so please do not advise me to call Apple.

Repair Disk Permissions as Peter suggests.
It will only take a couple of minutes and will not harm anything on your Mac.
If that doesn't cure the problem, trash your preferences PROPERLY. Most people simply delete the .plist which is worse than useless. This is how to do it correctly :-

Should that not improve matters, there is probably some corrupt file in FCE so completely UNINSTALL FCE exactly like this :-

You can ignore all the Soundtrack and LiveType items.
Finally reinstall just FCE 3.5.

You don't import the project.
I'm going to assume that both the trial version and purchased version were 10.1.
Open FCPX and then Open Library>Other, Navigate to wherever you stored the library (ies) you worked on when you used the trial. Choose that library and your work should be in one or more events in it.

For issues with apps closing on you at start up, try closing the app from multitasking, restarting your device, checking for updates or just deleting the app and downloading it again. Check out the article blow for more information.

AH...good.
There is no limit on the times you can install it from the DVDs. There's just a limit as to being able to run it on multiple machines AT THE SAME TIME. If your old computer dies, or you sell it (please reformat the drive so they don't get FCP for free), then you can install on a new computer fine. And you are allowed to install on (1) desktop and (1) laptop at the same time as well...but only use it on one machine at any given time. Meaning you can use it on the desktop at work, and then when away from the office, on your laptop.
Long story short...you can install it fine without any issues.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

The database @ my machine gets mounted but doesnt open!
The error goes:
Database mounted.
ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 1 of thread 1
ORA-00312: online log 1 thread 1:

ORA-27041: unable to open file
OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 2) The system cannot find the file specified.
While doing a disk cleanup i mistakenly deleted the log files!!!!
Please suggest me a to what i can do now to correct this,as all my ECM stack was installed over this database.

Anyway, just an idea,
You can start by trying to recover the deleted file. Search on Google for "Recuva". It's a free and small but powerful file recovery utility, install it and see if you can recover the deleted file.

You will need to provide more details as we cannot see your computer screen. Does this happen every time you launch LabVIEW? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Windows? Does LabVIEW crash? If so, what were you doing at the time it crashed?

When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login. What should I do?

I have to force shutdown and when I tried to start up again i get to the login page, type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue for a few seconds and it goes back to the log in screen. Somewhat similar problem:
Put in the password, hit enter, the screen goes blue for half a second, then goes back to login screen and carries on logging in as usual. Drives me mad. It doesn't happen with a fresh Lion installation, nor if booted into safe mode. On the machine in question it also happens to new user accounts.
I've removed all login items, including Startup Items and Launch Demons (pun intended) and Agents, I've compared system login plists with a fresh Lion installation - can't see differences. I've removed Little Snitch and PeerGuardian (no more third party kexts).
@Carolyn: I've done disk maintenance with DiskUtility and fsck and even DiskWarrior, cleaned caches, etc. etc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Sorry for trying to hijack the thread (as it's not about Lion), but it seemed dead anyway.
