Final Cut X Pro Arabic support

Does Final Cut X Pro support arabic fonts or not?

You probably need to use an AAT font for Arabic (and not a Windows OpenType font).  OS X comes with several:  Geeza Pro, Al Bayan, Baghdad, Damascus, DecoType Naskh, KufiStandard, Nadeem.  Some others can be found here:

  • Final cut studio pro 6 install problems and error message

Purchased a new macbook and am having trouble installing Final Cut Studio Pro 6- get this error message: You can't open the appliction FinalCutStudio.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported  - have never seen this before, any clues?

The installer requires Rosetta to be present, but Lion doesn't include it anymore. You can try to install Rosetta from a Snow Leopard disc using the "Optional Installs". Note that this is not officially supported: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4769
There have also been reports that Lion will break most plugins for FCS 2 and FCS 3.

  • Final Cut and Pro Tools

I recently installed Final Cut Express on my iMac. I also have Pro Tools 7.4.2 on my machine. When I went to open Final Cut, everything slowed to a screaming halt. One problem was that Final Cut was latching on to my Waves bundle for Pro Tools when it opened. After that, when I restarted my computer it took over five minutes for the desktop to load up. Apple tech support walked me through removing Final Cut, and reinstalling Leopard, but I'm wondering if there's a way for Final Cut and Pro Tools to co-exist. I'm not opening or using them at the same time. 2 BG

The apps should certainly coexist peacefully. If you want to prevent Final Cut from loading your Waves bundle (or any other Audio Units you have installed) then you have to move these units in and out of your /Library/Audio folder. Perhaps worth investigating would be the free AU Manger app for handling these plugs as sets

  • FINAL CUT STUDIO PRO - CAN'T GET "SMOOTHCAM" EFFECT

    PROBLEM:
FINAL CUT STUDIO PRO - CAN’T GET “SMOOTHCAM” EFFECT
    I use a Macbook Pro 17”
Software: Leopard 10.5. External LaCie Hard Drive 1TB
I upgraded my Computer Software to Leopard and reinstalled Final Cut Pro and Motion on my Laptop. It worked fine with SmoothCam, but as I had lost too much space on my Laptop Harddrive, I decided to reinstall the full program, choosing custom location the external LaCie drive.
Since than Final Cut Pro can’t find SmoothCam and it asks to reinstall SmoothCam.
    ➢ ./library/Plug-Ins/FX /Plug< Not Existing
    ➢ ./library-Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FX Plug<
    This file is empty.
My project I work on at the moment is a film, where I had done a lot of SmoothCams, but since reinstalling it will not find the effect anymore, it asks to reinstall SmoothCam.
In the mean time I tried several times to start from scratch and reinstall the whole Program, but now I’m not even able to register anymore, it will not accept the correct Registration No.
I would appreciate anybodies help very much.
    Zuckerhut

I had a similar problem when I upgraded my MacBook Pro to leopard as well. This is what I did (after several trial and errors)...
1.) Wipe the computer again and reinstall leopard. I suggest doing a custom install and just leave out things you do not need as they just take up valuable space.
2.) Reinstall FCS but DO NOT let it install the additional content as we will get to that part later. Just install the core programs themselves and uncheck the boxes to install the additional content.
3.) After FCS is installed re-run the installer and install the content but change the location to your external drive. At this point I created a folder on my external called "Final Cut Studio" and Created separate folders for each program and its content.
4.) After you have reinstalled the content on to your external drive, go into each program and point them to where the extra content is kept. <--- This step and step 3 arent really needed, but they make things easy for when you have to wipe your computer. This has saved me LOTS of time on reinstalling FCP because now all you have to do is install the core programs from now on.
You once you start FCP all your effects should be there. The main thing here is to do a complete wipe of the system and rebuild. Not just an uninstall / re-install. As far as your registration problem your going to have to call apple. I had a problem with an old serial number where it would not take it anymore after updating the software to 6.0.2 from 6.0. They can give you a new number to use and it does not take too long.
Hope that helps you out some.

  • Avid Hardware and Final Cut Studio Pro

Is it possible to couple Avid Hardware, for instance Avid Mojo, with Final Cut Studio Pro?
I find video editing on my Powerbook slow and tedious. I have intermitten access to a Powermac G5 Dual Ghz, but it only cuts the time by half which however doesn't equal realtime.
    What is possible?
    - Anthony

YOu just need to know how to use it properly. Having to render all the time means that your clip settings and sequence settings don't match, or you are using a codec that is not realtime. There are plenty of codecs that are (including DV, DVCPRO HD, HDV) as long as you captured the footage properly with FCP. I come from an Avid background and find FCP very slick.
Where are you getting this footage?

  • Adobe's move to a more "Final Cut" Premiere Pro is not all good.

Hi everyone. I don't post very often and I decided to do so because I want to hear people's comments on this subject. I have been a premiere pro user since Premiere Pro 2.0 and I've a good handle on Final Cut and Media Composer. To this day, I've always preferred Premiere for a number of reasons.
As of late, many Final Cut users have been migrating to other NLEs and in response to that the latest iteration of Premiere (Premiere CC) has included some decidedly FCP-ish features (And some Media Composer-ish stuff too). In my opinion, some are rather welcome additions and some are not.
What prompted me to write this is the feeling I got when I started using CC. It felt like in the rush to welcome the newcomers, some things were lost for those of us who has stuck by adobe for years.
Here's my list of good and bad:
    Good stuff:
    1) Auto Locate - Premiere is now smarter at finding your files. Awesome!
    2) You can now select clips and move them up and down in tracks with keyboard shortcuts.  Great!
    3) You can move target and source tracks with keyboard shortcuts! In fact there are many new things you can do with keyboard shortcuts! (Can you tell I like keyboard shortcuts?) I'll leave the keyboard alone now. Yay! Ok now I'll leave it alone.
    4) Audio Clip mixer. Now, I really don't see when I would use this, but sure. Why not? It's not invasive and they kept my track mixer as awesome as ever. I'm sure final cut users could shed some light as to it's utility. Specifically, what can you do now, that you couldn't without the Clip Mixer?
    5) There are a few cool ways to expand tracks. (I've heard it works a lot like Media Composer).
    6) You can now customize the buttons on your audio tracks. Sweet! (Also feels a bit Media Composerlike)
    Bad stuff:
    1) Symmetrical transitions - This is meant as a feature for Final Cut users but it's actually horrible to me. I don't want my start point to mess with my end point. I want to put them both exactly where I need them and have them stay. I know you can hold shift to get the old behavior back but I find I'm holding shift a lot these days.
    2) Transition icon changed to a suspiciously fcp looking transition. It's smaller. I don't see the advantage of changing the look. I certainly don't see the advantage of making it smaller. Not a big deal, but not a fan.
    3) The "fx" box replaced the name of the parameter whose keyframes you are currently seeing inside the clip. Now you can't tell which parameter you are looking at. Is this an attempt at removing clutter? Cause I think allow for the user to customize clip info is a better approach than simply removing stuff.
    4) The clips now turn white when selected. Again I remember complaints of clips not being obviously selected but now you lose the label color when you select a clip. This means that if you select a bunch of clips, you can't use the color to see if you picked up something that should've stayed unselected.
    5) Audio display now shows half of the wave instead of the doubled mirrored wave it always showed before. This sucks. Every DAW I've ever used (Pro Tools, Digital Performer and Audition to name a few) shows the mirrored wave. It's kinda standard. This new view is actually harder to look at. The negative view of the wave (the part of the wave that isn't the sound) looks like the bottom part of a wave. It's very distracting and annoying.
    6) Work area bar is gone. This isn't such a big deal since the functionality has been added to the in and out marks, but since the work area bar is also a part of After Effects, this makes Premiere work differently than it's family of apps. I would think that having overlapping or similar tasks performed similarly throughout the Creative Cloud Apps would make a lot of sense to Adobe.
Again, Adobe Premiere Pro has been and still is my NLE of choice. This isn't an angry rant. I simply felt it was an update that removed some great functionallity and wondered if others felt the same. I'm sure my list is both incomplete and of course simply an opinion. I'd love to hear people's reaction to the new Premiere Pro CC. Do try and be nice though.

    Jim.
Agreed. You can't please everyone every time. Though user customization goes a long way I think. And I definitely feel like this release was not really targeting me.
shooternz - Too bad. I did know this. It's not such an imposition but it does change the way I work without gaining anything I wanted. Seems like a lot of people actually like the symmetrical transitions though. Me, I think it is only useful when you don't care about being very precise. Maybe not. Maybe there's a good use for it. I haven't found it. I just wish there was a way to make the default behavior what it used to be and the symmetrical transitions work with shift. I'm already getting used to holding shift all the time so I'm not worried. I just don't see much advantage.

  • Final Cut Studio Pro 2 Install - Skip Final Cut Pro itself - TT_NEWALREADYI

    Dear All,
I hope you can help. I have just bought a new Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM, with OS X 10.4.10 running. It came with iLife 08.
I installed Logic Studio 8 (which was successful), and have been trying to install my copy of Final Cut Studio 2. When I run the installation, the options appear for custom install, but FInal Cut Pro, Compressor and QMaster are greyed out, and the action identified for them is "skip. If I rest the mouse over any of the options the text TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED appears.
I have tried uninstalling the Logic Studio components with AppZapper, and retrying the install of Final Cut Studio, but no matter what I try to do, it won't install Final Cut Pro.
    Can anybody help?
    Kind Regards,
    Nick.

  • IMovie Vs Final Cut Express/pro and making$$$?

Sorry, another post from us (interchangeably Graeme or Leanne).
We have been making home movies with various versions of iMovie for about 5 years now and for the most part (except the bugs) love it. Recently we have decided to try and start using our filming and editing skills to earn some money in our spare time (not that we have much of that with two kids 3 and under...).
We have done a couple of weddings, baby movies and a little corporate function work so far and are just at the point of registering a business, domain name, buying better equipment etc - in other words, getting more serious. My question is as wannabe (semi) professionals, should we be making the effort to learn and use FCP or is it OK to keep using iMovie?
We do get a little frustrated occasionally with the limitations of iMovie but on the whole, it usually produces fantastic (and seemingly impressive) results to our clients. I guess we feel reluctant to learn a whole new complicated package when iMovie seems to be doing the trick. We just worry that maybe we're being lazy and not very professional by using such an 'off the shelf' consumer product.
In some ways, we think our filming and techniques and editing creativity are what's important and the editing software is just the tool that allows us to put it all together so we shouldn't be software snobs.
Are other people using iMovie to make money?
I would really appreciate any thoughts about this?
I think I have read posts in the past (by Karl possibly - to the effect that iMovie is not to be sneezed at...)
    Sorry for the ramble,
    Leanne
PS We do have a copy of FC Express by the way - just never used it because iMovie is always so invitingly easy every time we start a new project.

I'm not a video professional so my opinion doesn't count for much. (Which won't stop me from expressing an opinion. :-))
I love simple tools. My bias is always to use the simplest tool I can find, if it does the job. I don't like spending days or weeks learning software, or having to re-learn it if I haven't used it for a while. I dislike the nuisance and the cost.
You see where I'm heading here...
But wait. That tool can't limit my imagination. It has to be able to deliver, create the stuff I want to create. It has to meet whatever demands I place on it, not get in the way.
Since I don't consider myself a particularly imaginative guy, it also has to inspire me. Show me what's possible. Help me discover what's out there that I can do.
(Great software is like seeing an Ansel Adams collection for the first time. It lets you see what is possible with a simple camera and a simple darkroom.)
David Babsky, perhaps one of the more creative and artistically sensitive people here, creates wonderful stuff with iMovie, as do many others. He doesn't seem limited by iMovie. He's probably a lot less limited than I am, for he's more creative.
Other people create great stuff too. I'm constantly amazed at the wonderful videos created by novice users. iMovie hands us the tools to make great-looking stuff. Even more so with iMovie 6's Themes.
If there's a bottom line, it may be this: The "best" tool is the one that works best for you. For users who revel in complexity -- who are perhaps inspired by it -- Final Cut warrants a good, hard look. If complexity just gets in your way and your creative juices aren't stymied by iMovie, its simplicity is wonderful.
One other thought: If iMovie doesn't offer a feature I need I can usually create it with QuickTime Pro. I recently needed to create video-over-video, not a feature offered by iMovie. It was a short video of a seated woman talking into the camera -- a talking head. I wanted a series of photos to fade in and out inside a small picture frame on the wall behind her. (The pictures were a kind of subplot which, as the talking head fades to black, reveal an inside joke.)
I built two iMovie projects, one containing the photos and one containing the talking head, exported each to a Full Quality DV movie, then using QuickTime Pro, "placed" the photos on the wall behind her. It worked perfectly. With simple tools.
It's a very subjective call. If the software inspires you and lets you do good work, it's the one to choose.
    Karl

  • Uninstall Final Cut Studio Pro 2 (buggy)

Really Frustrated with FCPS2, can any tell me how to remove Studio from my system. I need to go back to 5, but need to clean out the buggy Final Cut Pro Studio 2

You can do a "clean" install of your OS, or you can:
    http://proapptips.com/tips/article.php?story=20060927223215377&query=reinstall
the clean install is the most hotly debated topic right now, other than the utility of "Content Creation with Final Cut Studio" forum. you decide. good luck.

  • Final cut studio pro 2

hi, i use the final cut studio 2 with a mac pro computer, i transfer american format video to pal dvd sometimes useing a vhs converter video recorder, i was doing this for awhile and just last week it don't work, when i try to capture on the final cut studio i'm getting unsteady pictures frame droping fast, i haven't made any changes to the settings on final cut, can you help, thanks

It sounds to me like you are going from a multi-standard VCR to a DV Bridge of some type to capture and then to your computer. If this is the case it sounds to me like your VCR, Capture device or FCP has been switched from NTSC to PAL or vice versus.
Check all of you settings on your equipment and ensure that the capture settings conform to what you are feeding FCP.
A few more details about your hardware set-up would be helpful if my assumptions are not accurate.
    Best regards,
    David Finell

  • Trying to install Final Cut Studio/Pro that was on my old Mac Pro.  Have old disks and upgrade but need to know the install sequence.

My old Mac drive died and bought a Air.  Trying to install Final Cut but bumping into error on trying to install Studio.  I have an upgrade to Pro but I have been told that I need to install Studio first.  I have all the original disks.

Final Cut Studio 2 has a "bug" in the installer program that results in the "PowerPC" dialog box.
There are two alternative methods to install into Mavericks:
    Use Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Use Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:
    http://www.jeremyjohnstone.com/blog/2012-03-11-installing-final-cut-pro-studio-2 -0-on-mac-os-x-10-7-lion.html
Be sure to follow the August 2012 comment for the remaining FCS2 disks for this second method.

  • Custom reinstall of Final Cut Studio Pro

I installed the full studio pro on my laptop and realized after how much hard drive it took up. I decided I wanted to put some of the installation on an external hard drive. I drug the files into the garbage bin and deleated all the files that I could find on my computer. I than tried to reinstall the studio and the install window is stating that it is simply updates not full reinstall. How do I do a custom reinstall when I have already installed it once?

I wanted to put some of the installation on an external hard drive
two mistakes here; assuming you can personalise an installation to your way of thinking and deleting application files!
Mac applications must be installed on the drive that has the operating system installed, therefore trying to install on an external non-system drive will be prevented by the istallation process
delete the FCP package receipts in /Library/Receipts
    then re-installto your systen drive
If you dont have enough free space on the drive, only install the applications you want or better, buy a larger capacity drive
