Final Render Output

Hello, I'm thinking of buying a Nvidia Qaudro K2000 GPU to help with performance with Adobe Premiere CC.
Would this GPU help significantly in speeding up final render output? Thanks!
Brandon C.

Do you have a 10 bit monitor, or some other specific reason for a Quaddro card?
A GTX card costs less and you may select a model with more CUDA cores for faster CUDA work

  • Is the GPU used for final render?

    Hi,
I started using Speedgrade on my Mac Pro, and I really like it.
I'm getting great playback of my 3K r3d files - realtime at 1/2 res with my ATI 5770,
but when I'm doing my final render from the output tab it will only render 0.7 fps in both online and offline quality.
So I was thinking about getting a GTX 580, but will Speedgrade use the GPU for final renders or only for playback? If it's only for playback it wouldn't make sense for me to buy one.
I'm also struggling with getting my project from Premiere to Speedgrade,
I can export an EDL, but this will only contain one video track - and I usually use multiple.
Is there any way to export a sequence with more than one video track?
    Thanks

    Hey azton,
Speedgrade is using GPU for playback and CPU for rendering.
    Regarding Rendering Speed:
what kind of input resolution do you use? - this is crucial to improve  render time. If you want to render out Proxies for example, its recommend using input-res below FULL, generally speaking of 1/4 ... 1/2 etc Res.
By changing InputRes only you wil already notice a speed-up, activating OFFLINE quality should give a additional boost.
What is your Output format? DPX? QT? Your Output Resolution?
Rendering from a 3K image + Colorcorrection/Masks/Secondary + Resizing to XXX OuputRes + Codec (h264, DNxHD) wont be ultra fast though.
    EDL:
multiple videotracks are not supported in the CMX3600 EDL standard. You have to deal the EDL as a traditional FINAL/MASTER edit.
    hope that helps,
    D-A

  • Anyone understand the purpose of Proxy render/output format?

So I've done a couple of projects with X now and am fairly happy with the proxy workflow:
    1) Ingest, creating proxies, but no optimized - render format set to ProRes regular
    2) Edit in proxy
    3) In preferences, switch back to "Use original or optimized"
    4) Tweak edit
    5) Render and export
However, I'm still not understanding the thinking behind the render/output format (full-resolution proxy) when you are editing in proxy. It seems to me that it SHOULD be:
EITHER: When you're editing proxy, if you render/export, FCPX renders/outputs in proxy using the same low resolution as your proxy files. This would be great for early, quick samples for clients. No need to spend forever rendering full-res ProRes regular, or the pointless upsizing of pre-rendered lo-res proxies.
OR: Even while you're editing from proxies, background rendering is done in your full-quality format (i.e. 1080 ProRes regular). This would save you from re-rendering when you switch back over to original/optimized.
Ideally, there'd be a toggle to choose which of these you want. Even without a toggle, Apple should pick one of these it seems. The way it is now seems useless.
    SUMMARY:
While editing in proxy, render/output should be either:
    1) 720x540 ProRes Proxy
    OR
    2) 1920x1080 ProRes Regular
    BUT NOT
    3)1920x1080 ProRes Proxy
I was going to send an enhancement request about it, but figured I'd first see if anybody knows of a useful reason for it instead being this third, awkward format.
    Thoughts?

I had hoped the summary would clear up the question. I guess not. Let's try this again:
QUESTION - Would other people like the output, when in proxy mode, to be a low-res ProRes Proxy file - the same size as the files that are created when you tell FCPX to make proxies of your original files?
    DETAILS
    - When you create proxies of your original files, they are a low-resolution of "something"x540 (in my case 720x540)
    - If you output while in proxy, you get a proxy output file at 1920x1080 - this is 5.3 times as many pixels to render as 720x540.
    - Assuming a linear relationship between number of pixels and render time, this means it would take over 5 times as long to render the current form of proxy output, as compared to what I'm asking for.
    - I want a quickly-rendered format (like 720x540 Proxy) so I can quickly render/output, change things, re-render/output, sending multiple sample files to the client.
    - Of course, the ability to mark in/out on the timeline and export just that section is also important here, but that's another post and has already been discussed.
    - For further details, see my original post
As for my workflow, I don't need to work with either/or. I work in proxy (which, if you're doing more than straight cuts, allows better playback before rendering, no matter what computer you're using) until I'm ready for the final tweaks to graphics or the edit that actually rely on fine detail, and want to output in 1080 Prores regular, at which point I change the preference back to original/optimized, like I said right at the start of the first post. No mind reading necessary. I then tweak, render and output. I'm not sure you're understanding the purpose of a proxy workflow.

  • ADS problem - No Render Output XDC specified

    Hi Experts,
    (reposting in the appropriate forum)
I installed ADS but cannot print any forms (ABAP trial 7.01 and J2EE trial 6.40 on windows XP).
I followed the configuration guide. The following tests passed:
    FP_PDF_TEST_00
    http://sapsys:50100/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
But I can't print preview any forms and the other test programs fail such as:
    FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE
    FP_CHECK_HTTP_DATA_TRANSFER
Below is the results from the trace file.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,

    4.  Check the settings for the destination service
To use the destination service on AS Java, settings are required on AS ABAP and AS Java. Therefore, this test contains several steps.
                  4. 1 In your ABAP system (transaction SA38), call the FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE program (available as of NW2004s SPS 08).
                           a) First of all, execute the program without selecting the option "With Destination Service".
The system processes a test form in the background and displays the size of the generated PDF. It does not use the destination service in the process.
                           b) Now select the option "With Destination Service" and execute the program again. The system processes the test form, using the destination service.
If the system displays the same message (file size of generated PDF) as it does in a), the configuration of the destination service is correct.
-> Proceed to the next point (5).
If the system issues an error message, the configuration of the destination service is incorrect.
                        -> Carry out tests 4.2 to 4.4.
                  4. 2 Check whether the /default_host/sap/bc/fp and /default_host/sap/bc/fpads ICF services are active. (transaction SICF). If this service is not active, activate it. Note: As of NW2004s Support Package Stack 12, when you bundle in distributed systems (in other words, for "non-double-stack installations"), it is optional to use the fpads ICF service
4.3 Check the settings for the ICF service.

  • Render Output Settings to H264 mp4

    Mac Mini 8GB/2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. After Effects CS5/Comp settings: HDTV 1920 x1080 24. 5min video with audio, 55 layers Rendered output to H.264Video 1920 x 1080.
I have a 35 sec Intro template of visual/audio fx with 50 Layers, using several standard plugins, I rendered this 35sec visual clip to H.264Video 1920x 1080 mp4 format and it plays great. When I added my 5minute 1.2GB mp4 video and 6mb audio.mp4 to this 35sec template and rendered to output with same settings my 15HR rendered time completed in 1.5hrs. I also noticed the 5min video bit rate is 707. The 35sec bit rate is 16,193. My original 5min video was a mov file but I couldn't import to AE-had an error so I converted it to mpeg-4.
    My questions:
Why do I have a lower bit rate now?
Because I imported mpeg-4 video, this causes poor quality play in output H.264 format? Then what correct video format do I import to AE?
I have Adobe Media Encoder but no Quicktime Pro. I'm new to AE, still learning. Thank you.

There's another option. Instead of rendering anything out of After Effects you can open up a saved AE project in Adobe Media Encoder. Dynamic link will launch. You'll find your compositions listed. Pick the one you want to render, pick the preset you want to use, set the preset for 2 pass encoding if you want the best results because most if not all presets are set to one pass, then render away. I've taken to using the YouTube HD preset to push out files for client review before we commit the projects final render. This saves time, disk space, and works very well. I never use highly compressed video for archiving or final delivery, but for review, for sharing, for burning a quick DVD, this workflow is just fine and much better than trying to render GOP compressed files from inside AE.
For this to work you must have the right settings and you must have the composition length match the desired output and you must make sure that the frame rates match. The media encoder will not recognize the work area or the frame rate of the composition. It will always render the entire composition at the frame rate, frame size, and pixel aspect ratio in the Media Encoder settings.
If you have the horsepower to multitask you can continue to work in After Effects while you render. Changes to the project will not be reflected in the cued render. I usually just move on to another project or another composition in the project. Hope this helps.

  • Does Composition window settings affect final render?

I know this is a totally lame question, and I'm about 99% sure on the answer, but I'm still going to ask...does the quality settings in the Composition window affect the final render? For example, if my composition is set to 50% (size) and Half (quality), this would not affect a final, full size, uncompressed render, would it?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

No, work settings for composition viewers do not affect final renders if the comp is added properly to the render queue. The only thing influenced is the "RAM preview" quick-save output module and render settings which can be used to dump already existing rendered frames to a movie file.

  • Stop desktop's title from getting rendered in the final HTML output

Is there a way to stop the desktop's title value from being rendered and displayed in the HTML source of the page? I don't want to use a backing file to achieve this -- looking for a simple easy configuration to remove all the desktop property definitions from getting rendered to the final HTML output.

  • Disappearing layers in Final render

I have a layer of video that keeps diappearing from my final render. It doesn't disappear completly. Looks to be down to about 1% opacity. Only happens in my final quicktime render. Plays and looks fine in my comp and ram previews. All my other comps which are pretty much duplicates except swapping out 2 layers work just fine as well.
First image is my ram preview with the camera pushing past her. How it is supposed to look. Second is what actually renders out. It hits that frame right as the camera moves and she disappears. Layer order and z-position is not the issue. Any help is much appreciated.

Are you sure that you are previewing the Active Camera in the Comp?
If so then a screenshot of the entire timeline would be of much more use than these frame grabs.

  • Preview & Final Render Choppy at transitions...

i searched for this on the forums, but couldn't find anything. i know it's probably a simple problem, but i can't figure it out:
whenever i overlap 2 or more clips to make a transitional fade (or even if i have 2 stacked clips on) the RAM preview is choppy at that part, and so is the final render when played back in both quicktime and WMP (i'm sure it's choppy in every player, those are the only 2 i've tried).
the video in both RAM preview and final render is smooth up until a transition, then it's choppy and crawls through it, then smooth again.
am i not checking some small box somewhere? anyone else have this problem and fix it?
    TECH SPECS:
    AE CS4
    30fps
intel 2.49 GHz, 3 GB RAM
    Windows XP Pro

Well, most MPG in digital photo cameras is some sort of MPEG-4, often deviating considerably from standardized specs, so anything is possible. In your case, a look in the manual might offer some insights. I'm beggining to think that the clips are actually recorded at a lower frame rate (e.g. 24fps) and then use some sort of pulldown to look like 30fps. that#s not noticable when just viewing them, but gets you when editing. they may require to have the pulldown removed by interpreting them as 24fps pa. likewise, 30fps and 29.97fps are different things in AE's world, so that should be checked as well. Those discrepancies could also well explain your audio issues. The scaling should be unrealted, as AE works on fully reconstructed frames, not the source stream. It just cannot reconstruct the frames correctly in the transition areas, that's why it looks so weird.

  • Render Output!

    Hi all,
I am very much new to the forums. I am having problems with rendering in the right size. I have a project which has some clips that are of size 1920*1080. But some reason when I render it down, the real video playback just happens on the center of the screen. And on the render settings window I have made it perfectly sure that the render output matches the source attributes. Tried on with a variety of formats but unfortunately all came out with the same results. How do rectify this?
    Please Advice.
Here is the image for reference. Instead of being fullscreen it is just on the center of the screen.
    Thanks

    HI John,
Thanks for the speedy response. Here the first image shows the properties of the clip and the second one shows the render settings window. Both are according to me perfect. But still the render output doesn't appear in that resolution.

  • Vector graphics: fuzzy in preview, sharp in final render?

    hi all
I've been banging my head for a while on my fuzzy vector graphics issue ---vectors imported into AE from Illustrator, that include text, text outlines, clipping masks, etc. I had checked and double-checked my "continuously rasterize", my "collapse transformations", even gone into adjust anti-aliasing to best quality: no help
well, I had a breakthrough today:  when I do a final render, my fuzzy vector graphics become crystal clear.  Huh?  well, Great!  But now my question is, am I stuck editing fuzzy vectors?  That  seems like an odd limitation.
a bit more info on what I'm doing:  I'm animating between bits of text that are varying  sizes, some text is solid, some outlines, some with fills created with clipping masks--and I did do a little experimenting with taking out the masks, etc, because I've been told that some Illustrator effects won't come through properly, and cause an immediate rasterization in AE--but that didn't seem to do much to my preview quality. I've set up my illustrator file with the film/video preset, so I have 2 artboards--and I'm letting the biggest text spill out onto that larger arboard.  I'm saving as a CS5, PDF compatible, illustrator file, and bringing into AE as a composition w/ "retain layer sizes"
any thoughts? is this just the nature of the beast? maybe I'm setting up my illustrator file improperly?
    thanks,
    LML

You might be seeing artifacting due to Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction if you're using non-square PAR in your comp(s). In your preferences, check to see if you have the Zoom Quality setting designated to "More Accurate".
If not, then as you noted, you probably have some effect enabled in Illustrator on one or many of your layers/objects that is causing the aliasing.

  • Layers go missing from final render!?!

So I've put together my composition and on playback it all looks fine in the Canvas. In the manual it states "What you see in the Canvas is what will be output when you share a project" however, about half way through (in the final output) some layers are not rendered to the final output although right at the end my end credit appears as expected!?!
So, what is on the canvas is not getting rendered.
Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Just installed the 10.6.8 update - hoping that would fix things but it hasn't.
Also, I tried a little test by rendering either side of when the layers cut-out from rendering the whole project.
i.e. the layers were cutting out at 04:45, so I placed In and Out markers either side of 04:55 at 04:35 and 05:05 and rendered this portion - hoping that the layers would cut-out as before...
BUT they DON'T!! So what is going on here?
The layers render, as expected because they are visible in the canvas on playback - so I'm not changing any parameters to make them disappear, e.g. by changing their Opacities to 0. (I wish they had also disappeared in the portion render - then the problem might have been easier to track down.)

  • Final render coming out with a stutter

    Hello,
I have a simple render consisting of one comp that has 2 jpeg images moving right to left between two keyframes(easy ease).  That comp is nested over a .mov of a moving background.  When I RAM preview the motion looks fine, but as the images move a rolling line moves from the bottom to the top of the image.  However when I render, there is no rolling line but the images sort of stutter across the screen instead of moving nice and smooth.
Background mov was rendered using Apple Pro Res 422 720x486 NTSC D1 - with no field rendering.
I went through and matched my composition settings and final ender settings and I'm getting the results described above.
Your feed back is greatly appretiated.
    Good Health!

The rolling line is sync tering. But that's a whole different matter. The rest of your description is quite vague. Could be simple performance issues with uncompressed output, could be the usual issues associated with all image pans/ credit scrolls where you need to obey certain speeds. Please clarify.

  • Color Space Management & Final Color Output-not WYSIWYG?

I have constantly had problems with getting final output color to match what i am seeing on my monitors when color correcting. This has been a continual problem mainly with R3d footage and going to Prores...but for the sake of this discussion here is my prime example:
Start a new project in PrPro and clor from PrPro adding effects, 3 way color, 3rd party effects like Finesse and Colorista...then output the project to Tiff for master then convert from Tiff sequence to Prorest; H264 or anything else....But, when i output a prores file, and then open the prores file on its own--not brining it back into Premier...i notice a shift in colors....completely desaturated etc...this happens whehter i choose for gamma as "auto" or "none" when choosing codec settings for prores. I've had this continual problem for many years and the ONLY way i have found it to work is by using Apple's Color and then going to Prores....seems apple hardware and software work well together...but this cannot be an isolated incident with me only...AND coloring a project on your desktop and putting all that work into it and seeing it DIFFERENT at the end of the day is more than a let down...
...so maybe a discussion on properly setting a project for color work is in order...I came across another forum members website reToolednet and he had some great info on setting up the sequence timeline and video preview area that is great info...but even when i do that i cannot get a perfect match at the end of the output....Exapmples below all done in PrPro and then output to Prores 4444.
I've found info on Adobe site that does not seem current about setting project settings and color space, but no place in PrPro do i find that setting...is this only AE?  OR...can we even do a proper color job within PrPr?  or should that be done elsewhere?
Id like to go through the proper steps of setting workspace and color schemes for say a Prores output since that is likely 75% to 90% of everyone's deliverables in the tv realm....
Snapsot of Tiff sequence WITHIN PrPro (colored)
Final Output from PrPro to Prores--snap from actual QT prores file--(Desaturated)
When i began this project i had my sequence settings to R3d 1080p @ 29.97 and video previews to Iframe....
**NOW, i think i would have been better off to change video preview to my final output of Prores 4444...BUT, i tried that and still see a color shift.
**Note, i oriingally colored this on 5.5 with Matrox out to my color corrected monitors....and results on those monitors DO and WILL be diffrent than what you see on your computer screen....my monitors were set to rec709 and RGB at end of the line for viewing....but i see nothing within PrPro on how to set this....however at end of the day i do not get what i see on my preview monitors....

Thanks Jim....yes, i'm covered on all cc monitors and quite used ot viewing output on color calibrated...as well viewing both on the same platform/monitor....The BIG question is PrPr being able to do color work---and my question is why would it have all the color effects if it did not?  But i agree with you....first place to start is can you do proper color work on PrPr AT ALL?  no problem to do a quick web video...but can you properly color a for television product---I seem to think NO....i could not get colors in end to match....i can view out on PrPr view my I/O box (Matrox MXO2) and see great colors that i colored the project on to my FSI color corrected monitor....but then when i view the ProRes file back (not on PrPro)...but on it's own with its own codec engine...this is where things go awry and stray from colors i originally put on the images...
But this is a PARAMOUNT subject as Pr is offering coloring....i hate to bring this in, but in FCP i can get accurate colors on my Matrox and same when rendered out to Prores file....Again, i think Apple plays well with apple.....but as you say, there are a great number of varialbes involved in the preferences etc...within PrPr...seems to me AE may be better just by reading about it...but why not both?

  • Final Film output differs from the film in timeline!!!! :

This is frustrating. I am working on a film and when I want to export it when it is finished the final output does not match some parts of the project in the timeline. I look at the film within Final Cut Pro and everything look good. But on some part (the end of the film) when I look at the exported Quicktime movie in the Quictime applicationm the saturation and lightness has changed! The end of the film (just about 4 frames before I start to play around with a few flying cows ( yes it is true) the picture becomes pale and unsaturated for the rest of the film?
I did try the color corrector 3 way on some of the clips.... not all. But that should not have anything to do with it?

When I have tried to export or save final art (finished films) with File -> Export -> Quicktime Movie the results have been far from reliable. Things has been looking good in the timeline when after exporting the film changed a lot at some parts. This was especially often when I did include graphics which were cut out using alpha channels. The end product looked like it was bleached on those parts involving moving graphics with alpha channels.
But after I tried Compressor things changed. This seems to be much more consistent. The best quality for this specific project was with Output for DVD (Best Quality), but then there were no sound...... and this is the ".m2v" format which I am not familiar with.

I did also try the 10 bit uncompressed, that was ok too, but slightly paler and less saturated than what I worked out in the timeline (what I wanted for end result).
This was an old film I shot 10 years ago on SD format. I am quiet new to FCP, but I surely hope that one could work in a way that enables to get more reliable results.
Any suggestions how to get a better end result in compressor? Something more like the ".m2v" version..... (see the attached link)...
