Final solution to being out of memory?

I have searched all over this forum and found this basically.
We all love FCP, but since the lovely men in S.F. didn't think of 64-bit, people with brand new computers (like myself) are stuck in a ditch covered in petrol.
We have all this power and can not use it.
So what is the moste simple way to get around the "out of memory" problem. And scaling down footage is not an option. All footage is ProRes 422 and shoot with a 5d Mark II using magic lantern (so the bitrate is slightly higher that usual)

The simple solution would be to add more memory. If by "memory," you're referring to hard drive space, hard drives are relatively cheap these days so it shouldn't cost much to greatly increase space. If you mean RAM, then you should be able to add RAM as needed.
But you really need to identify what's actually causing you to get these warnings. For example, one of the most common causes is using still images that are in the wrong color mode (not the same as color space). Images must be in RGB color mode - not Grayscale, CMYK or Indexed.

Final Cut Pro Error: 'out of memory'/'general error' on export
I'm trying to export a simple timeline from FCP but keep getting Final Cut Pro Error: 'out of memory'/'general error'. Exporting 5 sec timeline (yes, just a short trailer) via Quicktime conversion H264 at 1080. Strangely, if I export exactly same timeline at 720 its fine. Original media ProRes422 1080.
Have exported at 1080 before ok. No nested files involved; re-connected all media; no JPEGs involved; plenty of memory (all of which i have heard can be issues).
Any advice please as i've read all of the FAQs and nothing helping so far?!

Is this the current settings of your (source media in) timeline (ie in my case Pro Res 422) or the last settings used by the export? Apparently 'If you deselect the Recompress All Frames option and choose Current Settings from the Setting pop-up menu, Final Cut Pro simply copies frames from existing media files into the new file with no recompression.' But when i did this I got a 994.1 MB QT movie, which, when i got 'more info' told me MPEG-2 Video (?!) Apparently a compressed file when its supposed to be uncompressed (?!) When i exported manually setting to Pro Res I got 6.77 GB. Clearly uncompressed Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). Do i have to manually set settings to Pro Res to match my source media and ensure i get an uncompressed file? Im searching boards to get some clarity on this too: all references so far advise using 'current settings' but dont actually say what they are.

Final Cut Pro 6 - 'Out of Memory/Error Code'
Hey All,
I'm in the final stages of editing a documentary and I keep running into an 'Out of Memory' error code in Final Cut Pro 6.0 when trying to export a reference file. The finished film is 81 minutes long and contains 19 sequences. I have all 19 sequences nested in a main sequence of a seperate FCP project file, so I'm not wasting any memory on clips or additional backups of sequences. This Nested sequence is the only sequence that exists in this 'other' project file. All of the photos used are under 4k resolution and are RGB. Even the lower thirds are animation QT's with alphas. Any thoughs would be greatly appreciated.

If that doesn't solve the problem, you may have a corrupt sequence
Try creating a new sequence with the same settings and copy the contents from the problematic sequence
If that doesn't work. Mark an in and an out for the first half of the sequence and do an export. If that works, mark an in and an out for the second half and export. Keep narrowing down the sections til you find the problematic clip. -
Final Cut Pro HD out of memory
In Final Cut Pro HD, when I click on a sequenze I'll get an 'out of memory' message. My computer has 935MB of unused RAM.

Very often this message pops up when there is some sort of corruption in the sequence/project...a clip, a render or the sequence itself.
Couple of ways to try determining what it is...
-if your media is on an external drive, disconnect the drive properly, which will disassociate the media from the project, then bring the drive back on-line and re-connect media.
-delete all renders for this sequence using Render Manager, re-render and see if it works.
-copy all media in the timeline and paste it in a new one.
If these don't work, you could try creating a new user account (with admin privileges) and try opening it from there, or create a new sequence in this user, and paste the media there.
Hope that made sense, but this usually has nothing to do with your physical system RAM.
Try these and post back if any of it works, or you need more help.

Out of Memory error on some PDF's, not all PDF's.

I have read most of the posts in the forums that relate to 'Out of Memory' issues with PDF's and I have to say that there is still no solution that I have found.
I have tried reinstalling Adobe Reader, Flash Player and tried clearing my Temp Files. None of these fixed the issue.
The PDF's that receive this memory error are downloaded off a CMS website that has many offices and logins. Only one office is experiencing this out of memory issue so we know that it is not an issue with generating the PDF's on the CMS website, otherwise all the offices and logins would have this issue, since they use the same system.
I am an admin of that CMS website and even I receive the same out of memory issue when I try and view the PDF's from that office, as the customer does.
When we open these PDF's with another PDF reading program, the PDF's open fine. So that tells me that the issue lies with Adobe Reader and not the PDF file itself.
These PDF files that are receiving the error about 1MB-4MB, so they are not large.
Could you please tell me the solution to this out of memory error as we may lose a customer because your product is producing an error that does not seem to have been fixed after years of being reported by your customers.
Thanks.As an Adobe Reader XI user, if I may put my two cents in, that "Out of Memory" problem is not with the Adobe Reader XI application, which was installed on our computers! I think, the problem is with how the PDF documents, which we were trying to open, were generated (or regenerated).
I remember I was able to open my old credit card statement online without any problem and now I am not able to open the same old statement (out of memory) because it could have been regenerated! In fact, I could not open any of my credit card statements (old or new) on this specific credit card web site, which makes me believe those statments were regenerated or somthing with some new Adobe software.
As others mentioned, even I'm able to view other PDF documents without any problem. -
Out of memory error on Final Cut Express

Ok so quite often we have to record into iMovie6 live (on a Macbook Pro) so that we can get all the content being recorded without gaps (tapes don't last long enough). After the project is imported (and transfered to my Powermac with FCE on it) I would rather use Final Cut Express to edit everything. So after saving the iMovie project I start a new project in FCE and import the files from iMovie. When this happens the audio always needs rendered and often when I render these files it really bogs down my PowerMac G5 and eventually gives me an out of memory error. After looking at Activity Monitor during the rendering, the System Memory just starts to become inactive and then eventually active until all the memory is used. That's usually when I get the memory error in FCE. I have 1GB of memory and I've added another Gig but the result is the same. It appears this is a problem with the app. Anyone have a clue or any ideas? I am using Final Cut Express HD 3.0.1 on my PowerMac.

AdamThanks for the comments however I currently have a project that I am trying to get done and these comments don't help right now. Anyone have any advice to speed up the process?
I just need to render the audio faster without having to reboot all the time. Any other FCE project works fine when rendering audio, it's just the import from iMovie that for some reason soaks up my memory and causes me to have to reboot to get it back.

System out of memory when exporting/migrating Solution Manager
Dear all,
since we decided to migrate our Solution Manager (win2003/sql server 2005) system to a more appropriate server, we started an export using the NW70sr2 installation master CD, the one we used to install this solution manager instance.
Everything went ok up to the Java export phase, here we caught an out of memory issue, here's the relevant part of the sapinst.dev.log file:

Actually we used a workaroud to complete the phase, ie we menually re-issued the command and changed the heap value from -Xmx512m to -Xmx1024m
Is there a way to defalut the sapinst to pass to the java export command an higher java heap value, ie -Xmx1024m ?

Franco.It sounds like you may have a corrupt render file in your 7th episode. You can set in and out points in 5 minute increments and export those segments to narrow down which clip is the offending clip. Then re-render the offending clip.

My final cut studio keeps giving me this error out of memory message when ever i try to render a piece of footage and its closing unexpected. Does anybody know the reason?
I had this problem about 2 months ago and, as others have suggested in this thread, eventually traed it backed to some stills I had scanned and brought into the project. Accidentally I had changed the scanner settings, with the result that a couple of skills were well beyond 1980 x 1020 pixels. I resampled the stills and everything was fine again. Hope this might help.

I am getting 'Out of memory' error while opening the file. I have tried several versions of Adobe 7.0,9.0,X1.
Also, it is creating issue to convert PDF into TIFF. Please provide the solution ASAP.I am using Adobe reader XI. When i open PDF it gives "OUT of memory" error after scrolling PDF gives another alert "Insufficient data for an image". after clicking both alerts it loads full data of PDF. It is not happening with all PDFs. couple of PDFs are facing this issue. Because of this error my software is not able to print these PDFS into TIFF. My OS in window7*64. I tried it on win2012R2 and XP. Same issue is generating there.

Shortly after starting work on a small vocal score with piano accompaniment I am faced with the warning:
"Finale has run out of memory. Please save your work and quit".
No other applications are running.
How can this be?

If you can, don't run other memory intensive apps while using the Finale app.
Open the Activity Monitor located in HD > Applications > Utilities then select the Memory tab.
From there you can see which apps are using the most RAM. (memory) -
we r using os 10.6.8 and 7.0.3 fcp,in that rendering with unlimited option out of memory warning is displayed, 10gb RAM.no stills are there.there are hd standard videos
What format are your sources and what are your sequence settings? I'd guess that you're working with h.264 material which is not fcp friendly. If so, use compressor to conver to prores422

Out of memory when big files are being sent to N80...
i downloaded a few big mp3 files (15-20mb) onto my 128 card i got with the phone, as soon as my new 2gb phone came, i didnt have a reader for my pc and my wife said she wanted these songs on her S.E.810i. i sent them over to her using bluetooth (with no probs whatsoever) in the hope i could send them back to my phone with my new 2gb card in. when i try to send them back from the 810i with bluetooth, i get out of memory message but i have next to nothing on phone mem - no vid/images/sound etc. can anyone tell me if i would be right in saying that when i download from my home network the files are temp stored on mem card until you confirm where u want to save whereas bluetooth tries to store on phone mem temporarily first? hope u got all that! if this is the case, is there anyway i can change this? if anyone is still with me, and knows what i am talking about, please enlighten me!! its driving me mad!

2. I doubt it. The phone will still save files received via bluetooth in a messaging folder. If this folder is stored on the phone memory there will never be enough space to receive really big files. dmz -
General Error Final cut__ Out of memory
I'm editing a short sequence were the footage is all h.264. When I import the footage to the bins and I try to open the clip in the canvas I get the message General Error and Out of Memory follows.
Why is this?

"ORA 27102 - out of memory" solution needed

If you want to use a specific version of Java for a particular application or profile, you can setup the shell varibale JAVA_HOME at .profile level. But, on your case, to install Oracle, use the CLI option poiting to the right version of java.

Final Cut Pro 7 error message (out of Memory)
I have an 8 core 6 gigs of ram. My mac is configured for HD video using XDCam footage.
I get a message that I am out of memory. 26:30 program and I have a lot of filters on my footage.
Can you tell me how I can release my memory? Conrol Command P R?

SteveI have a few times ... strangely enough, when rendering to another internal drive with plenty of space, but the boot drive was 98% full (not my system). When you have too little free space on the boot drive (which the system uses for temp and swap files), all sorts of wonky things start happening, and not just in FCP so I suggested checking that since MtD had already covered the graphics issue.
But you are correct; the error message is usually the result of importing an improper file format or still image not to proper specs. With still images, it can happen not only with CMYK color mode images, but also with images in Grayscale or Indexed color modes.
