Final sound track issue

Using Pre 11, I have completed a wide screen project and exported it to DVD, using suggested AVCHD settings (.m2ts @ 1920-1080i - 30fps)  The final video quality is excellent as far as the images and video tracks go, when viewed on a 60" TV screen.  There is an issue with the actual DVD starting but it eventually works (my next problem to solve)
Anyway, the sound track (music) plays thru all 5 speakers during playback on a Bluray player and therefore the sound is not very good in comparison to what a 2 channel stereo track, typical for music would be, or the playback in the Elements edit window.  It looks and sounds great on a computer that is only stereo, both within Elements and the exported clips to files.
Is there a way to export the video to a DVD this quality, but retain the 2 channel stereo playback?
Or, is the only option to change sound output settings in the Bluray player?
Music source within Elements are Mp3 converted to .wav prior to import.

Thanks for the reply and glad for the opportunity to clarify my view of the Premiere Elements 5.1 situation.
All the burn to of Premiere Elements are for audio as Dolby Digital Stereo.
However, when you get to export to file save to computer hard drive, things can get interesting. You can
find a few opportunities to export certain files with 5.1 channel audio, but not Dolby Digital 5.1 channel.
In the course of looking into Premiere Elements 5.1 channel opportunities, I ran across a way to import a source
with Stereo and export it as 5.1 channel, not just go from 5.1 channel source to 5.1 channel export file.

  • Sound track becomes unsynchronized in PRE12

Using a off the shelf Toshiba VHS/DVD copy machine I converted all my old VHS home movies to DVD. The resulting files are in (.vob) file format.. They play normally with most media player software I have access to. I am editing these videos now for content, adding titles etc. and creating a cleaner more presentable DVD. Using PE12 in expert mode I add the files to the timeline, do my titles and edits and then review the finished product. Sometimes, about halfway through a project I notice the soundtrack will suddenly get out of sync by about 3-4 seconds. Is there a tool or a fix for this ? I am not deliberately or knowingly deleting any part of the soundtrack without removing the same section of corresponding video...PS this phenomenon does not occur in certain other editing software I have tried...but I much prefer PE12....PLEASE help.

The file format appears to be the issue as I tried converting to .mov and so far it worked at least on one file.....Thank you for the advice......
AVR I will try to respond to your questions as it may still be helpful but I am after all a consumer and not a tech..so forgive what may seem  two dimensional answers.....
The sound tracks are verbatim from original VHS sound recordings. They were converted to DVD with a over the counter Toshiba VHS to DVD burner/player. I determined the file format was .vob by looking at the files on each dvd I created in this way.....
I have tried to pull or rip files in both manners after I found the sound track issues....first I tried to pull them into PE12 straight from the home made DVD... Noting the same soundtrack issues I then loaded the DVD files to my hard drive and then tried to pull them into my project from there....same sound issue. I then edited the same files and successfully burned a DVD with a normal sound track using the MS Moviemaker software....however this is not the software I prefer....but, using it to convert vob to mov helped me make a file I can use in PE12 now....
Last, the editing I have mentioned is to cut sections of the video/audio out for time, irrelevant material or just bad video...I add titles and subtitles on additional tracks... the original timeline is always edited in whole sections..... never just video or just audio... and...yes I have tried to play the entire video in PE12 before any editing takes place... same sound issues.... it is with out a doubt, a compatibility issue with vob files and PE12.....so converting to another file format should should be OK and only a minor inconvenience.....
PS..something that may deserve another "Topic" or may be relevant here is the "style" option has stopped working in my titles module. I was using it to make very nice shadow letters in my titles and text.... after about three edited videos.... "Style" is now blank. I was thinking of reloading PE12 once my last project is burned and I have no more projects to lose..... suggestions?
Thanks very much for your time...............

  • Related with the royalty of the sound tracks

    Hi
I have a question related with the royalty of the sound tracks in final cut, I used one of the soundtracks in one of our videos and when we try to upload it to dailymotion, they refuse because they said it has copyright issues, any idea why?
I was with the idea it was royalty free and we could use it, is this true?
    Regards

I had a similar issue with youtube a number of years ago.  Seems Apple licensed some samples from APM.  When I uploaded, the youtube censoring software read the copyright metadata and bounced the file.  Had to do a bunch of e-mails back and forth, and finally got uploaded.
If it's part of your soundtrack install, it is royalty-free and you can use it.

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
    Best wishes,

  • From good iMovie to iDVD sound track not playing (let us try this again!)

There was an earlier problem of this posted here...the question was marked ANSWERED...but didn't solve anything for most of us that replied. So let us take it out for another spin...
Created in iMovie...works perfect in iMovie 6...then SHARE with iDVD. Attempting to preview...no sound track is played/heard.
Can someone let us know what is going on...how to fix...and why we users are forced to be beta-testers for RELEASED software? This problem seem like something that SHOULD have been found, tested and corrected by release date.
This product is wasting a lot of user's time and dvd discs.
    Thanks

This product is wasting a lot of user's time and dvd discs.
Well I can help you stop wasting disks, at least! Use "Save as Disk Image" to encode the project and create a ".img" file. You can test the final encoding by mounting the .img file and playing it with DVD player in your applications folder. If this has sound, then burn it with Disk Utility.
iMovie will sometimes tolerate both 12 bit and 16 bit audio. iDVD won't - it must have 16 bit audio. Check the settings on your camcorder with the problem DV tape in it. If it is 12 bit audio, there are fixes listed here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61636
    http://danslagle.dvmix.com/mac/iMovie/audio/1001.shtml
    http://danslagle.dvmix.com/mac/iMovie/audio/1000.shtml
I know you say it plays fine in iMovie, but these fixes sometimes help files that work in iMovie but don't work right in iDVD.
If none of this applies, please let us know, and as F Shippey said, let Apple know too!

  • How can I stop sound track from being divided when adding clips to other tracks in PrE12?

    The situation:
I have a project with several minutes of video clips on the timeline (expert view) in "Video 1/Audio 1."  There is also music on the sound track (below the empty "Narration" track).
Any time I make an edit to the Video 1 track, PRE cuts the Sound Track.  (Note that this is not the Audio 1 track, it's the sound track which is two tracks away.)  If I insert a clip, the Sound Track is cut and left with a gap.  Same if I do a FreezeFrame insert.  This is bad enough (make ten insertions, have the Sound Track chopped into ten separate pieces), but it gets worse: when I try to slide the Sound Track pieces back together, the Video 1 clips will be moved around.
This appears to be a major bug but I'm hoping there is a simple way to deal with it.
Here's what the Manual (p.71) has to say about it (not much).
"When you insert a clip into the Expert view timeline, adjacent clips on all tracks shift to accommodate the new clip. By shifting all clips together, the audio and video of the existing clips remain in sync."
    * The question here is, adjacent to what?  The Sound Track is a continuous music clip of many minutes; it is alone on the Track, and there is nothing on the track above it (Narration track).  So it's not adjacent to anything, and yet it is being chopped up.
    The Manual continues:
"Sometimes, you don’t want all clips to shift with each insertion. For example, when you add background music that superimposes the entire movie, you don’t want clips to shift."
*They got that right, but they don't say anything about how to prevent it.
This next makes no sense at all:
"To shift specific clips togather, press the Alt key as you insert.  At a time, you can shift specific clips simultaneously on a maximum of two tracks.  These include the track receiving the insertion and the track containing the linked audio or video (if any). The affected tracks shift together, remaining aligned. The clips on other tracks are unaffected."
*There is no mention of how to specify what clips would be shifted, or not.
I'm not dealing with linked clips.  And they tell me how to shift clips (sort of) but nothing about how to stop clips from being cut up and shifted.  This all makes it very hard to create a coordinated product.
Any suggestions or solutions will be much appreciated.

    Thanks, ATR,
I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
    UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Put Video on Vid1 track
    2. Put Music on Sound Track
    3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
    4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
    5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie"  also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track.  A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
    6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of  Video1 track.
    7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
    UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b.  R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

  • To everyone with IOS6 Sound related issues & Others

If you are facing a problem of not having any system sounds, notification sounds, no calls or other software sound related issues I'd suggest you read below it's a stupidly simple fix and it should solve most software issues after an immediate iOS6 update:
After updating unplug the phone from your computer and leave the phone alone for 5-10 minutes, if you still have problems: reboot, wait a few minutes and all sound related problems should be fixed.
When I updated to iOS 6 I had lost my system sounds, so I unplugged from the computer, rebooted the phone and still no go. I decided to just let the system "settle in" for a bit, let it lock and when I unlocked after 5-10 minutes sounds were back and everythings up and running again.

Well, to break it down. After my sounds finally came back (2nd time losing them) last night I decided to restore the phone in itunes. I did it twice. First time I backed up my data. Second time I restored it as a factory iPhone. Both times guess what NO SOUNDS! I also realized that last night I had lost my sounds after charging my phone and unplugging it from the data cord. I still have ringtones (when someone calls), but text messages, emails, and any other alert tones do not work. I cannot turn the volume up or down with the side buttons and also music does not play. It doesn't even have a slide bar at the bottom.
I am on the phone with apple care now. They seem to not be aware of the problem at all.
While I was on the phone with them my sounds ended up coming back, imagine that. Hopefully every time I charge my phone I am not going to have this issue.

  • Sound input issues.  Not related to Soundflower or Balance issues

So.  With the sound flower issues fixed.  And my balance knobs in place for my stereo speakers.  I have opened up a new song I have been writing.  Again the AVIGrandpiano app was the track I was recording on.  Like my previous post from last week the input on the new music was very faint and not at all matching the input of the previous recorded music.  (See Screenshot on earlier posts)
I am at a loss as to where to begin to fix this.

  • Fade out sound track in Keynote...how?

I am taking keynote presentations and exporting them to quicktime...everything works as expected. The only issue is the sound track. It simply abrupty ends at the end of the keynote/quicktime movie. Is there a way to fade it out (i.e. take the volume to zero?)?
I am currently loading the quicktime movie into iMovie and doing that, but it is very cumbersome. Would be much better to do it in Keynote.
    Thanks
    bob

No audio controls as such just what's in the QT inspector. Rather than doing it in imovie post, you could fade it in Garageband or other audio app pre-Keynote construction.
    Good build suggestion though:

  • Voice Over Sound Tracks

I have used the VO tool and have the track in the timeline. When importing it was set to 2 channels.
In the timeline there is 1 track. Would it be better to duplicate the final VO track and therefore have 2 tracks (presumably for stereo) and then the music soundtrack in the other 2 tracks??? In total there would then be 4 tracks. New to doing VO so any help appreciated.
    Thanks

I've never used the vo tool, preferring a decently recorded track. But think about it this way:
There is only one speaker in a vo. The sound is only coming from one place in psychoacoustic space.
Keep it in one track, pan it to wherever you want it in that space.

  • Voice over other sound tracks

I have iMovie '09, and I was wondering if I could do a voice over on a movie where I have already added background music tracks , or other audio tracks in general?
Like say I finish my movie with the added sound tracks and all, then I decide I want to do a voice over on a certain portion of the movie. Will it work?
I just upgraded here to a 13" macbook pro, with 10.6.3 and all. I was using QT Pro on my older Mac , with Tiger OS. Finally decided to try out 'iMovie', as I heard it is alot better than the old '07 version.
Thanks for any helpful replies, Mo

  • Supplementing video sound track

I want to record our band from the main mixing desk during our live show so I have a better quality sound track than what's on the video cameras recording it. What is the easiest set up to get there? I have made several recordings in Logic Pro using my M-Audio Profire interface with no problems (audio, midi and stereo inputs etc.) I will want to sync up the sound with the video later in Final Cut Express but I have not used Sound Track Pro yet. Should I just take a stereo feed out of the desk to a new track in Logic Pro and let it run? Anyone have suggestions?

well,i would advice you to take a multitrack reacording by having all the instruments outs from the console outputs into your interface ,incase you want to make a mixdown later with atmosphere of the show it self ,and at the same time take main output from the mixer to your interface as well ,so u have both !:)and let logic do the rest of the job! also u can use a midi time code out from your interface to your light mixer in case you have a lioght show to be in sync with your music show...cheers.!

  • IMovie sound track

On iMovie, can you play a live music recording keep the sound track playing and add other visuals?
    Thanks

    Hello, songthief!
    Welcome to the discussions!
What format was the commercial CD song? Did it play in iMovie?
You might want to re-record it to get it into a form that iDVD will burn. You can do this several ways. Here are two suggestions:
    1. Import the song into iTunes, then burn it to a CD. Reimport the song from the CD back into iTunes in AIFF, then import it into your iMovie.
    2. Record the song using WireTap Pro and import the AIC file that it creates into your imovie.
    Also, one more tip:
Don't send your iMovie to iDVD from WITHIN your iMovie. Close your finished iMovie, open iDVD, create your project and then drag/drop your iMovie into iDVD's main screen. You will find your movie in 'Media' ->'Movies.' This prevents double rendering of your clips, 'jaggies' in your final burned DVD and other problems.

    Excellent!
Every now and then, the Soundtrack and Narration Track (both Fixed Tracks, as they are automatically created, and cannot be Deleted) will act odd, and not work, as they should. These issues seem to be Project-specific, as they might work perfectly in the next Project. Sometimes, it seems that the issues are Asset-spcific, where another type of Asset, or maybe just a different Asset, even of the same type, will work fine.
When either fails to work properly, the "fix" is usually to just Move the Assets to a free Audio Track, other than either of those two.
As outlined in the linked article on MP3's, above, that file type can also be very problematic. I routinely convert ALL MP3's to PCM/WAV, and have never had an issue.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
