Multiple retries for automatic, tried re-typing, won't display last setup dialogue either way.
so return it for another one if its within the 14 day return policy. If not, bring it in for repair.

Webhelp topics won't display on servername with multiple hyphens

I have several webhelp topics generate with RoboHelp 8 whose html topics won't display when launched from servers whose hostnames contain more than one hyphen. We have multiple servers in the test environment. The servers with zero or one hyphens can launch the help project or individual topics with not problem. The servers with two or more hyphens can launch the project and display the nav pane, but the topics show a File Not Found error. The topics also show this error when launched independent of the frameset. Can anyone help?William,
I have gone thru my project now and, as I stated in my May 1 mail to you, I have made duplicates of all of the "bad" topics and all of these new topics are now displaying correctly.
Now I have a related, but different issue.
Only one topic is causing that same error msg to display (refer to my original April 27 post: IE script error/syntax error; Line 13, character 1).
The only topic that throws that error msg is the initial topic that displays when the .chm file is opened (i.e., the topic that is specified as the "Default Topic" in the HTML Help Options window when I click the Generate Layout button in the SSL pod.)
Furthermore, the topic that throws the error message will only do so if it is the one specified as the Default Topic.
As an example, if I have the topic Apple specified as the Default Topic, when the .chm file is opened the error msg window will display; when the user clicks either Yes or No to the "Do you want to continue running scripts?" query, the Apple topic will display normally. Each time that topic is selected it will throw the same error msg. window.
If I go back to my project in RH and change the Default Topic to the Pear topic, re-compile the project, when the .chm file is opened the error msg will display; when you click Yes/No the Pear topic will display normally (until it's selected again). The Apple topic now displays fine at all times.
This tells me that the problem seems not to be with the Apple topic, as I'd suspected, but with something that's going on with RH and how it displays the initial topic in a compiled project. I think.
Any ideas on how I can remedy this issue?

DW CS4 Links to MSSQL Database, sees fields/data but won't display on webpage
I'm trying to get a Dynamic Data Table to show in my webpage but I can't. (Using ASP JavaScript)
I'm using DW CS4 (10.0 build 4117) and connecting to an MSSQL database on a Windows platform server hosted by Verio.
I can successfully link to the database, I can see my data correctly when I bind the record set and do a "Test SQL Statement" , see images below:

Line 5 of course refers to the ActiveConnection command which uses the INCLUDE file for the connection string.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?No one wanted to help me but I figured out that I was not referencing the DSN on the test server, only the local DSN.

Illustrator won't display in "Open With..." list in XP

I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but I'll ask anyway. When I right-click a PDF and go to "open with" Illustrator CS5.1 is not there...perfectly normal on a fresh install. However, when I click "browse" and find the illustrator.exe file and select that, it won't add to the list. It's as if I clicked cancel instead of open. The same thing happens if I click Properties on the file and try to change the program that the file opens with.
It's no big deal, but it's just quicker to open a PDF with Right-click>Open With>Illustrator, rather than launch Illustrator and go File>NavigateReallyStupidLongFolderStructureOnCompanyServer>File.pdf>open.you could add an Illustrator shortcut to the Send to...Folder
- hit Win+R to bring the Run dialog
- type sendto, to open the Send to Folder
- right click an empty area, and select "New" -> "Shortcut"
- browse to illustrator.exe, to add the shortcut
or if you're comfortable editing the registry, you can add Illustrator to the OpenWithList menu
- bring up the Run dialog
- type regedit
- browse to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.pdf\OpenWithList
- right click on it and select "New"->"Key"
- rename to "Illustrator.exe" -
Safari won't display XML content with an embedded stylesheet
I'm using Safari 5.0.2 on Windows XP. I cannot get it to display an XML document with an embedded CSS stylesheet. The file in question appears in this ZIP file: http://www.hl7.org/documentcenter/ballots/2011JAN/downloads/CDAR2IG_SDISP_R1_D12011JAN.zip
That document demonstrates is an attempt to enable display of standardized healthcare content in common web browsers. Can anyone here help?I have a separate bug report to Chrome on this one, same general result in display. The file is an XML document, not a CSS style-sheet. It contains an xml-stylesheet processing instruction that has a local URI #hl7-css-for-cda pointing to an element in the XML that contains the CSS stylesheet. That element uses xml:id to identify itself, so it is (according to the W3C) possible for the browser to determine that element as being the target of the URI.
The problem appears to be that the Display Engine in Safari won't load the content of that URI as a CSS stylesheet.
When I validate the CSS content in that XML element it returns as being valid CSS, and when I validate the XML using my XML editor, it is both well formed, and valid against the XML Schema appropriate to that file. -

I have an iphone and it is obviously registered to my itunes so i have all my apps and music on it and my sister just got the new ipod touch and wants my apps and music and so i went to register it to my itunes to sync my music and apps to it just before her birthday but itunes crashed on one of the stages (the final stage i think) of registartion and so i had to close itunes and start it up again but it didnt give me the steps to register the ipod again and now when i connect it i go onto the ipod button and it is just blank with ipod written in the middle with no autofill buttons or sync buttons or any automatic fills and i cant drag music onto it either. Is there anything i can do?
- You need to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and start anew. Is the restore button visable in iTunes? If it is they restore the iPod.
- If it is not visible try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- If the restore button is still not visable, try placing the iPod in recovry mode. See:

iOS 5.1.1 Software Update - just tried to update and it didn't work! Got to the final stages and was presented with error 1602! My screen now has the frozen image of the itunes logo and usb thing. Happened once before - funnily enough when doing an update back in November - I had to visit an Apple store to have the phone restored. Would appreciate any advice as I would like to avoid another trip to the apple store.
found the real problem.
In my laptop where it couldn't detect the iphone and ipad, this folder is missing:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
The ipad was wrongly using a microsoft driver.
I found the correct drivers in:
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbaapl64.inf_amd64_neutral_c111a aecb61e9a2b
Copy the contents to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that, I had to update the driver for Ipad in device manager.
Ipad was found under: "Removable Devices", as a storage device.
Once that is fixed, itunes can detect ipad, and I can restore it.
Apple should really look into ensuring that folder doesn't go missing during itunes update process. -

Final Cut Pro version 10.1.1 won't open.
Hi All. My Final Cut Pro version 10.1.1 won't open at all. I am on mavericks. Having read quite a few threads, I have trashed preferences and also reinstalled the software but no joy. The screen flashes up with "Final Cut Pro can't be opened - error -1712" Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's possible the alias in the Dock is corrupted.
Drag that icon off the Dock and let it go on a blank area of the Deasktop. Poof, it should be gone.
Go to the Applications folder and drag the FCP X icon into the Dock or start FCP X from the Application folder.
Trashing the Preferences as suggested may help.
Also use Disc Utitlity and repair permissions.

HP Photosmart Plus B210a all-in-one won't display any networks in the list.
Hi, I recently purchased a HP Photosmart Plus all in one printer and I've been having trouble with it from day one.
First off, it won't connect wirelessly.
It won't display any networks in the list when searched for, it won't take my network details when I manually input them and it won't take any static IP address I've tried from other suggestions.
Secondly, the print quality is very bad. Streaks and fading are occuring and after using up 70% of my ink trying to sort it out through troubleshooting it's still bad.
It's extremely important for me to be able to have web access using the printer as all members of my household use it and it'll get fustrating having to car laptops and computers around to print.
Can anybody help at all?Top line says "The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support"
I take this as a very bad sign and needs replacing?
The tests I done produce streaks, fading and lines. I printed off two photos, one from a memory card and one from a scan. The memory card produced heavy blocked lines of color and the scan was just dull.
I'm using a Wanadoo Wireless Livebox and Windows 7 64 Bit
One other question... is this like a brilliant printer for photos mainly? I'm a Graphics design student and although my final prints are made from home I would like accurate and decent printouts for my portfolios. Should I keep this or go for another one with similar features and better print quality? -
Actually it does display the page, but it doesn't display some of the elements which 3.6 did perfectly & even lowly old IE9 still does

After you asked your question, I did some experimentation by varying
the size of the jpg displaying the long blue bar
& came to a startling conclusion
FF15 has changed its ability to display jpgs, if said jpg is even slightly greater
than 30K on its long (vertical) side
You see, the blue bar isn't generated by FF - it's an independent 8x35Kblubx.jpg,
an 8 x 35,000 pixel blue line, which was custom created in a drawing prg
I can send you the file if you want to see it, but the bottom line is,
the old version of FF used to display it perfectly & in virtually any paint type
or jpg display prg (preferably such as IrfanView or ACDSee etc),
it still will, but NOW, in FF15 it doesn't work
Thus whoever's responsible for finalizing the code at Mozilla/FF (whether it's a committee
or a person making a decision for a committee), they've decided some type of jpgs
just won't display, if they're greater than some arbitrary # of pixels
on its long (vertical) side
So, here it is ; even FF15 runs the HTM perfectly, *if* I restrict the 8x35Kblubox.jpg
to its shorter `brother', which is 8x30Kblubox.jpg
Why 30K is acceptable to FF15, but even 30.5K or certainly 34K isn't,
is completely upto whoever's responsible for deciding what will display on FF15
All right, why the change? - Even IE9 still displays the 35Kblubox
& all the way upto 60K & maybe more (I decided 60K was as big as I'd need
at the time they were created), but FF15 jams out at 30.5!
Clearly it's a FF15 `issue' & should be restored to its former ability to run at least 60K
pixel or greater jpgs (along the long upright edge)

Final Cut Server 1.5: G5 clients won't launch from icon
So I upgraded my client from FCServer 1.1.1 to 1.5. They have a mix of G5 and Mac Pro stations. The 4 Mac Pros are all working fine after some fiddling and Java cache deleting. The G5s, however, won't run the client launched from the saved icon.
Scenario:
Access the client download from (IP address)/finalcutserver in a web browser - this works.
The applet downloads and saves - this works.
SOMETIMES it asks where to save the app - sometimes works.
The client app runs, logs in, all working fine - great.
BUT...if you quit and try to relaunch from that icon, it doesn't work. Purged Java caches, emptied the cache in the client, etc. - nothing. Updated from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8, same problem.
The Intel boxes all work, none of the G5s do - seems entirely platform specific.
-mikeHeh... I solved this... in a manner of speaking. I really appreciate the input from Nicholas, Andy, RadUS, and everyone else, but nothing worked.
Weird. May be actually a Java problem, not a FCSvr problem, maybe something in the Java implementation of 10.5.7 and later. But who knows? No word on this from Apple. There's a surprise.
Here's the solution I ended up with. It's a cop-out I know, but it works!
My solution was to put the Final Cut Server.jnlp file on my desktop and just launch it from there. You can even make it look like the desktop app if you want. Here's how:
First you have to get the Final Cut Server.jnlp file on your desktop. It's not easy to find, because it's located in some weird temp directory somewhere buried in the recesses of the OS. If you don't know where it is, look through your browser's download history and find it. You can always redownload it by going to your server (yourserver.com/finalcutserver) and redownloading it. When you find it, move it to your desktop. Then do a Get Info on both the desktop app and jnlp file. Click on the icon for the app (the tray with the balls) and press Command C to copy the icon. Then click on the jnlp icon (the document with the cup of java) and press Command V to paste the FCSvr desktop app icon to the jnlp. Then check "hide extension" in the jnlp's get info window. Voila. You now have a "fake" desktop app. Yes, it's fake. Get over it! You won't be able to tell a difference. This is the only solution I came up with and I reinstalled Leopard twice.

I tried to update the software overnight, and it was still in the beginning stages of the progress bar when I woke up. When I restarted the process I have to restore the phone, its again stuck in the beginning of the process. Does anyone know how long this should take? The beginning sections seemed to fly by.
