Final Year Project

Hi All,
Im a final year student doing a project on a Meeting Scheduler Tool. This must be web based Java project with a backend mySQL database. I have experience with Java but i am not too familiar with web based programming. Im hoping to do my project using JSP. I do not have any previous experience with JSP and was wondering if this is the best technology to use?
These probably seem like stupid questions but i would appreciate any help as the proposal is due up next week!!
1. Is JSP used to create my interface or to connect to my database? If no, where do i connect to my Java code and to my database?
2. What tool should i use to create my interface over the web? Is it some sort of publishing tool, like Dreamweaver?
3. Should i use a development stand alone server like Apache Tomcat? If yes, do i use this with JSP?
4. If anyone has any suggestions on other technologies which are easy to learn and use, I would greatly appreciate if you would let me know?

Yes, since it is a Java project assignment, JSP should be used to create your user-interface. You can write code inside your JSP to connect to database. But it is better programming design to create bean or servlet for such task.
2. What tool should i use to create my interface over the web?
Is it some sort of publishing tool, like Dreamweaver?
Dreamweaver is a very good tool and I use it at home. But there is a learning curve that you may not have time for it. You sure can try though. IMHO, you can write JSP code in a good text editor like UltraEdit32. At work, I use Eclipse 2.1.1 with MyEclipse plugin which has an excellent JSP editor. Since I do primarily server-side programming here at work, I can't give you much help on this matter.
3. Should i use a development stand alone server like Apache Tomcat?
If yes, do i use this with JSP?
Yes and yes.
4. If anyone has any suggestions on other technologies which are easy
to learn and use, I would greatly appreciate if you would let me know?
Since it is a school project, the harder it is, the more you learn. DO NOT cut corner.

Well then you have a number of points that can be solved very differently. Does exist any legacy hardware or software that need to be included into your project?

Final Year Project - University

Hi all,
Just looking some advice and general tips, have a few questions about a final year project I am thinking of doing.
Basically it is going to be a stock control system for a nightclub, particulary focussing on their celler. The system will allow the staff/management to review stock levels and alerts will also be enabled to alert them to order appropiate stock, perhaps a draft invoice could be created automatically once stock hits a certain level.
This is basically to replace the old paper based method, could also include costing for each night.
To implement something like this, what am i looking at as in regards to software and how hard could be. What programs would guys recommend. I have done a little work on Oracle, but its pretty basic.

I'd say my suggestion is as good as anyones. Have you thought about using Oracle XE with its pre-installed APEX development environment? That should be more than enough to manage a nightclub's inventory.

Hey all,
Im writing a Final Year Project and have minimal experience writing in JAVA.
It is an information visualisation assignment which involves reproducing code/text in a reduced format. Sort of to do with Line oriented statistics.

Anyway, i need to know if its possible to get information about individual undos/edits from an undomanager.
Basically i need to be able to say, for example,
there are 12 undos
undo 12 occurs at line X
undo 11 occurs at line Y
etc etc
I need to be able to get this information without actually invoking the Undo last edit call.
Im bringing the Java undomanager tutorial home but from what ive read it seems like impossible?

When I was at uni I had to implement that for the text area of an IDE. All I did was rip off the code from the Notepad.java that comes with the SDK.

press the oval/rectangle/desic buttons and add shapes by clicking on an empty square, after adding some shapes press the line button, by clicking on 2 shapes you will add a line to connect them. you can drag the shapes and the lines will follow.

i'm goin to be do a final year project, n i thinkin to use labview do it.! but i dun hav idea tht is suit...coz it can't use to the station..

planning on learning LabVIEW and graphical programming for your design

recommendation is to use one of our shipping examples like temperature

Introduction:
For my final year project I am going to produce a website where people can create their own Flash game. I will make a game creator – an artefact which the users will be able to use to create their own game from nothing – using Flash, and then incorporate this into a website. The users will be able to create games using an interactive display – they will not have to write any code; and they can play their games, and other users’ games on the website. I want to make the game creator easy to use so almost anyone could do it, and make it so it’s fun to do as well. I would make many options available within the game creator so the user can really personalise their game and make it individual.

So i anybody of u can suggest me something i will be extremely grateful.... i will prefer doing something for mobile phones... i.e. my target wud be J2ME..... but any other idea can also work...... but plz keep in mind that the project shud be of such length that it can last for 1 year..... also it shud be challenging......

Need help on developing system as my final year project

hello everyone.
I would like to find someone who can guide me in developing a system for my final year project ( title:Event Correlation Analysis System).As i am not really good in programming i find it very difficult to start in code the program.Whateva it is i need to develop the program in order to be graduated.I am having a very hard time here as this title is given to me by my lecturer who is expecting me to do everything..Please anyone help to guide me.
My project is about using java to create a system which can monitor log file and uses some rules to correlate and output to end-user the prove of a particular problem (i.e: accessing pornography.).for more information find articles about event correlation system.

Final Year Project! Please give me some idea!

I'm doing an individual final year project using IBM Aglet, JRun and J2ME. The topic is "Mobile agent shopping system", better with some theories. I have no idea about what types of application should be done. Initially, I intended to build a system for the customers to search for the products in a shopping mall with data mining recommendation(e.g. association-Apriori), but my supervisor want me to give him a new idea because previous students has built similar application (but using classification in data mining).
My supervisor has another 3 students doing the same project, but one of them doing a restaurant reservation system, another one has many multimedia in his system. The last one - I don't know. It seems that my project has no "selling points". I don't want to think of a quite complicated one as my programming skill is not so good. But the big problem is the project is restricted to a shopping mall. There is not much can be done. The project will be handed in 2 months later. I'm afraid that I can't hand it in on time. Does anyone have any suggestion on the topic. I have thought of this many times, but my supervisor still does not satisfy with it.

Don't know if this is what you're searching for, and I don't know if there is such a function in LV 8.6, but I'm using LV 2010 and under DAQmx Pallete, you go to "Advanced Task Options", there is a function "Configure Output Buffer", in which you can configure the buffer size you want.

Working on Final year project

I am working on final year project. Our project title is "VoIP over 4G"... We are working on developing a VoIP application with different features over android. We will present our project in simulating environment of 4G LTE. We have PXI-1045 for LTE simulations. Now I want to ask question that can we use PXI-1045 for high data transfer of 4G LTE on which we will use our VoIP application??? Two clients will be connected through this device and they will use the application using high data transfer with excellent video quality for video conferencing and other features.
NOTE: we are using this device because 3G, 4G LTE is not available in Pakistan. And we have to complete our project using simulating environment of 4G. If we can do this on this device then help me in ho w I will configure and use PXI-1045 for my project...... THANKS

The chassis is the box that will host your modules (RF signal generator in your case). You will require a generator to be able to generate an LTE signal. If you give me the requirements/specifications of your generation, I can try to suggest one of our RF Vector Signal Generators.

HELPPP final year project!! PLEASE

Hi,
For my final year project, I have to create a mobile phone simulation in that multiple mobile phone users would be to particicipate in a chatroom just like text messenging. The messages sent would be read by all the users in that chatroom.
Does anyone know how about I go in doing this? Im planning to use Java as my programming language and a mobile phone simulator but dont know where to start. Any suggestions? Much appriciated!! :-)

As a final year student you should be able to put
some effort into finding stuff out yourself. These
starter questions pop up frequently, so the search
should come up with more than enough information for
you! If not, I bet google will!I agree. I am a final year student as wel and also have to write a Java program to display XSL-FO info on a PDA. Just google around a bit to get started, once you get it started it's not that hard. Certainly your application shouldn't give to much trouble I think.
