FinalCut Pro Movie Import?

Is it possible to use FinalCut Pro movies in iWeb?

Export to QuickTime and use H.264 or MPEG-4 Video codecs and AAC audio.

Anyone know of a good way to move finalcut pro X to an external HD without loosing any of the project files?

If you're looking for improved performance, you should move your events and projects to an external FW800 or faster drive.
The FCP X application itself should reside in your Applications folder on your system drive.
If you're talking about backing up to another drive, I use a cloning application (SuperDuper) to clone my working drive to my backup drive two or three times a day.
If you want to install FCP X on another computer, simply download it again from the App Store (using the same Apple ID you used to purchase the app).

Have you followed the instructions on the Square5 website>MPEG Streamclip for Mac>Lion/Mountain Lion and MPEG2 Playback Component?

  • How to convert 14GB to 2GB for IMDB upload using FinalCut Pro 7?

    Hi,
I am submitting a 12 minute film to festivals and need to convert it from 14GB to around 2GB for best quality results in order to upload it to IMDB so that it could be streamed. I use FinalCut Pro 7 but the compression/export settings for the file are proving to be tricky.
Once I click on Export>Quicktime video
What settings do I choose to have the file be closest to 2GB and have the audio and video synced perfectly, maintaining the good quality of footage shot on Red?
    14GB footage specs:
    Dimensions: 1920 X 1080.
Codecs: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Linear PCM, Timecode
    Color profile: HD (1-1-1)
    Duration: 11:59
    Audio Channels: 2
When I converted it to DVD: I got a DVD .m2v file around 465MB, it that the highest quality I can get for a DVD version?
Also, When I set the settings to 1280 x 720 it resulted in a file size of 275.4MB, when I wanted it to be around 2GB
Please help me asap. I need to get this done today. Thanks alot in advance!

Export a full quality file....FILE>EXPORT>Quicktime Movie. Self contained, sequence settings.
Take that file into COMPRESSOR.  Look for the Quicktime 7 Streaming options...choose the H.264 LAN preset.  SUBMIT.

  • Export Quicktime movie in FCP comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File

Does anyone know why when I Export Quicktime movie in FCP it comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File? I can still play it in Quicktime and it's possible to set the Quicktime Player as the default software, but it still says in my finder window that it is a Final Cut Pro Movie File.
Does anyone know if there are any settings for the clip to come out as a Quicktime Movie instead? Thank you!

+"The studio apps "brand" their exports. Actually kind of useful...+
In the words of the venerable Forest Gump, "Useful is as useful does" ... or something like that.
I actually use similar "icon" techniques in other areas of my workflow. But most of the time I just modify the file title for quick ID - I also use dashes & underscores to get things to stand out and stay at the top of lists etc.
But QT is my Go-To App for quick media reference and I have it set up to play almost all types off media when double clicked. I started doing it years ago when iTunes opened up every time I wanted to check a few seconds of an mp3 file.
I guess the best solution would have been for Apple to leave the "export FinalCut movie" option intact and simply add in an "export Quicktime movie" option as well. Or maybe add another drop down option for the tagging (branding).
At least we would have been able to make the workflow choices in-the-box rather than doing it with the OS.
    Andy Neil,
I think using the OS is the better option rather than re-compressing your movie just so you can double click into QT.

  • Quicktime 7 pro movie to picture export fails

Using quicktime 7 pro, on OS X 10.6.8, I am trying to capture a still photo from a video taken with my iphone, imported into iphoto.  If I use export, movie to picture, it will work for the first one then will give me the fail catch all... message for all others. Or, if I try to copy and then paste into my preview and use new from clipboard the images pastes as grey.
Am I missing something obvious in preferences or settings???
Thank you to the following for helping me fix the issue:

Copy just a second of the file into a new Player window and export to image sequence.
Be sure to save to a new folder to avoid a mess of images cluttering up your screen.

The QT 7 Pro "Movie to Picture" export option creates a PICT file with or without a user selected "compression" option. Unfortunately, PICT files are no longer the default Mac image format nor are they supported by all apps under Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion. While there are several alternative options here, most users tend to rely on one of the following:
    1) If you prefer working in a QT 7 Pro-like environment, open you movie clip in the free MPEG Streamclip app, locate the frame you wish to export, select the "Export Frame..." ( "Alt-Command-F" keyboard shortcut) File menu option and select your desired export settings.
    2) If you prefer a quick "screen capture" work environment, open the movie clip in either the QT 7 or QT X player, locate the frame you wish to capture, press the "Command-Shift-3" keyboard shortcut to enter the screen capture mode. Once in the screen capture mode, you can
    a) press the mouse to anchor one corner of an area you wish to capture and drag the mouse to a diagonal corner to select the capture area or
    b) switch to the "Object Window" screen capture mode by pressing the "Space Bar" and select the "window" you wish to capture by "hovering" the mouse over the desired object.
In case "a" above, releasing the mouse captures the selected area while in case "b" clicking the mouse captures the highlighted object window. If you capture your image without honding down the "Alt/Option" key, the the captured image will include a transparent border area and drop shadow. If you hold down the "Alt/Option" key during capture, then no transparent border or drop shadow is generated. Since entire "object" window is captured using this screen capture process, I use QT X for capturing "frameles" images and use QT 7 when I want the player frame included in the captured image (with or without transparent borders/drop shadows as previously described).
    3) Alternatively (under latest OS versions), you can simply open Preview and select one of the "Take Screen Snapshot" options to capture a portion, object, or entire display screen from within Preview.

  • Problem with .mov importing as audio

    Hello!
I'm an old school filmmaker who last did intensive stuff when miniDV was king
Now I find myself at a new job shooting and editing testimonials. Everything was fine for a whole year until I tried to import video from another videographer.
I'm on a Windows 7 machine with Premiere Pro CC v.7.1.0
The note on the footage says shot on Panasonic AF150 (AF100?) 1080 p 60i
The .mov import as audio only. I have tried all kinds of sequence settings to change this. No dice.
Also, the footage has, I believe it's called, "Judder". (I can watch the footage with my QT or VLC player.)
Using a video conversion software I was able to import as MP4. But holy heck do I really have to convert all the clips before I can bring them in?
I am pretty clueless about codecs, which is likely the problem. So a quick explanation on codecs and good places to read up on them would also be extremely helpful.
Here's another issue - the videographer used a fisheye lens (or setting?) for some really nice B roll shots. Unfortunately, they are 4:3 and the  interviews are 16:9! Is this common and ends up being "my problem" or did he goof?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I do have Quicktime installed (which is why I was able to watch it on players outside of Premiere.)
    And the update didn't help

  • Quicktime Pro: movie from stills, movie size

    Hello all,
I am planning to buy QT Pro, and have 2 questions about it:
    1. I want to convert my DVDs (music concerts) to QT so that I can organize them in iTunes and watch without having DVDs. What will be the size of a QT file converted from a 2 hr concert, with acceptable quality?
    2. I am doing some modeling (finite element) and am not sure if the PC software can make animations. I was thinking of taking the stills from the results and make a movie in Quicktime, for my Keynote presentation. Can Quicktime make movie from stills? . I know it can do slideshow but this would be like a slideshow changing images every .25 second or even faster. Do you have any other suggestions in this regard?
    Thanks in advance!
    Alpesh

You'll need some third party software for your MPEG-2 (DVD format). I use HandBrake (free). It allows you to set movie dimensions and compression to a "fixed" (you control) file size.
QuickTime Pro can import image sequences. You can set the frame rate at import from 60 frames a second up to ten seconds per frame.
You can even add audio or export these image sequence movies to DV Stream for use in iMovie or iDVD.

In Windows 8.1 Premiere Pro video imported clips shows up black screen in Source & Work space. Everything is updated on my PC. They say it could have been a Windows update? Is anyone else having this problem and found a solution any suggestions.. Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your help. I finally was able to contact someone from Adobe on line.. It took about 1 hour on hold but I finally won the lotto...Lol. Pr.. /Project/Project Settings/General/ I had the (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA) and not the (Mercury Playback Engine Software Only) It only took 1 second for Adobe to figure it out...Lol.
Although I have a high rated Nvidia card that did handle the software for some time after a hack, I believe a Windows update may have altered my Premiere Pro CS6 settings.
Video card is Geforce Nvidia GTX 765M non compatible with (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA). Thank Ronin Edits and cvid01

  • Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??

Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??
I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this?  Why does this happen?  I really need to know as soon as possible.  I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr.  But I can learn VERY FAST!)
    Thanks for your help.

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How to send photos to FinalCut Pro

How to send images to FinalCut pro, will keywords go with them?

I am not familiar with FinalCut, but to get images out of LR, you have to export them. In the Library, select the images you want to export, and click Export.
The export dialog presents you with a number of options, one of them is Metadata, where you can select All Metadata.

  • FinalCut Pro 5.1.2 - droped frames - MacBook Pro

Hello, every time I try to record from my Sony TRV900 DV camcorder via FireWire to my new MacBook Pro 17" (Core 2 Duo) FinalCut Pro 5.1.2 slows down and stops the recording and brings an error message: encountered dropped frames.
Same FireWire cable and camcorder works fine with FinalCut Pro 5.1.2 on my old Mac G4.
    What can I do?
MacBook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FinalCut Pro 5.1.2

    Welcome to the forums.
Are you capturing to an external drive that is NOT your main system drive? If you are capturing to your system drive, most likely you will encounter dropped frames. Your system drive is busy doing things like managing the system, so it will access system resources and stop the capture. Sometimes this happens a lot, sometimes very infrequently. But it is best not to capture to your system drive.
And while I would recommend a firewire drive, your computer has only one firewire bus and often this too leads to dropped frames, but not all the time. Happens for some, not for others. You can solve this by getting a PCIexpress firewire adapter to add a firewire bus, OR...the another option is to get a CalDigit eSATA drive and PCIexpress card.

  • How to reinstall plugin Media Core CFHD AVI importer 32 and MOV importer 32.pm?

I instralled the After Effects trial program and it was running okay for a few days, then I was hit with a warning to reinstall plugins.  How to reinstall plugin Media Core CFHD AVI importer 32 and MOV importer 32.pm?

    Has anyone figure this out?
I started getting this after installing GoPro Studio 2.
Uninstalling it and even deleting the plugins manually didn't work, and neither did reinstalling AE.
All I could get was stop getting the error message at start-up but the problem is that any .AVI file that I import only plays audio, no video.
    Please, any help appreciated.
