Finalizing imovie error

I cannot finalize/share/export my imovie project. It is basically a slideshow. all stills and no video. It is 6min long. I have maybe 7 other finalized projects in imovie. all are under 10 min. I borrowed some photos from from family facebooks. Would this effect the process in any way? I have osx lion on my system. Have never had this issue before. Help!! I just want to burn a cd for my aunts birthday!

How much free space is there on the - Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk
I never go less than 25HD (if HD video project - 4 to 5 times more might be OK)
WAS there any - Error messages ? - What did it say ?

It seems like there's a number of these being posted all around the iMovie Discussion Group. So the solution posted most recently that seems to work for the largest number of people is this:
This requires using the Terminal app, in your Applications/Utilities folder
To turn off Time Machine snapshots type in the following command:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
The Mac will likely ask for your password, so type it in and hit the return key. The type the word, exit and hit return. Quit Terminal.

Turn off - TimeMachine usually works - re-try.(the Application down in the Dock - not the Device) But this can mean many thing's - My first thought is
• Free Space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ? (other disks do not count)

Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

-108 mean you are running out of (free) RAM.
Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

Correct. But I figured it out. I moved the file to my desktop after I finalized the project and it wouldn't open in imovie or QT. I moved the file back to the folder it saved to and I was able to open it in my Project folder. Whew. THX for responding

IMovie error code (-50)

I am trying to export a project to a DVD and I get the message, unable to process project, error code (-50). Can anyone help?

I cant believe this is happening, soooo frustrating!!!! I put about 24 hours into a project, exported it 3 times throughout, just to see the progress outside of imovie, finally finished the project and now error code -50 wont leave me alone!!! AND, on top of that, at the very end of the movie, some random sped up audio plays for a couple seconds, ***!?!? And yes, I strayed from the defaults in regards to the clip speed, but to me, using the defaults isnt a solution. The movie is complete, edits all match with music perfectly(almost), If I change just one of em then the rest is screwed If thats the best solution, then its as good as none, cuz either way it looks like ill have to start over. How can we not just get a straight answer, what the **** is error code -50?!?!? Does apple think that there are people out there that go "oh, error code -50, no prob... fixed!!" What good is knowing the code if theres no description??? Sorry, blowin steam... Being a music producer, ive been a loyal Mac man for many years, Logic Pro my software of choice, but past month or so, Post Snow Leopard, its been problem after problem. I cannot update IPhoto or IMovie- Error message from App Store

I cannot update IPhoto or IMovie. I have the latest OS. I cannot use these Apps either- they both ask me to update to the newest version, but when I try to I get an error message saying that the App store could not complete my request and to please try again later (null). Any ideas??

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

IMovie error message "The operation could not be completed"

I am trying to create a new movie and got this error message " The operation could not be completed" after selecting the Themes.

My problem was because I had moved my Movies folder from the system drive (which is an SSD) over to another drive with a larger capacity. I then created an Alias in my home folder. Turns out this is what was causing the problem. I shoulda known. Some apps absolutely hate this. iMovie, being the dumbed down garbage that it is, simply MUST have it's library in a certain folder, apparently. Would be nice if we had a choice about it.
I find Premiere Elements is actually the better (and friendlier) program. However in this case, I had to slum it with iMovie due to the Quicktime file I was working with.

I was able to upload the video to Youtube, however I would also like to have a copy of the video on my external hard drive...

Thanks for the details. We have a similar problem (see my post below) and are in the process of adding back each clip and then testing for export. My question is, once iMovie is unable to export the project, does it render the file "bad" and prevent exporting even if you remove the "poisned" clip(s)?

Hello, We are having a similar problem running iMovie '09. We get the exact same error as you reported.
"Unable to prepare project for publishing" The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (-50)
We have a very similar situation were we have multiple repeated clips. However, our clips are 2.4 's. Like you, we took the finished project and started eliminating edits that we thought might be preventing it from exporting. The following actions still would not allow the project to export:
removing title pages
removing transitions
removing imported music from iTunes
removed another clip from another event
closed all other programs
closed iMovie, powered off computer, opened iMovie, tried to export
reconfirmed the last project exported would still export - it did without issueThe only difference between the project that will export and the one that does not are these short (2.4's) repeating clips
When we create the new project from the recorded event without making any edits (just as recorded), it exports without issue. We have started the arduous task of adding back in each edit and testing it for export until we determine which edit is causing it to "not export". This is a very inefficient way of troubleshooting.
This is a science project for my son and we need to be able to save it as a QT or mpeg4 movie so that he can submit it to his teacher for viewing and a grade!
Any ideas from any other users would be greatly appreciated.

IMovie Error (-50) PLEASE HELP!

I'll make this short. I have a movie I made in iMovie, 14 hours, 32 minutes, and 52 seconds long. I'm trying to export it so I can burn it. Instead, it says:
Unable to prepare project for publishing
The project could not be prepared for publishing
because an error occurred. (-50)
I've tried sharing to Media Browser and iDVD, but neither works. I have a MacBook Pro 4,3 with 40.04 GB free, and I use iMovie 09 8.0.6. Why isn't it working? Please, this has been so frustrating, if anyone can help please do.

I've also already tried clearing my preferences.

IMovie error - cannot create file when I attempt to share

I am using MAC OS X 10.9.5, iMovie 10.0.5. I have successfully create many movies by using Share to file - of long and short sizes. This particular time I made couple of minor edits to my movie which had previous shared to file with no problem, and when I went to Share to File I get an error message. The Share fails with the error "cannot create file".
I have plenty of disk space.
All other applications are closed, just imovie running.
The destination is the mac internal hard drive.
I deleted imovie and re-installed it.
I deleted the Render Files.
No luck.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

maybe. you could try this:
to downgrade to a previous iTunes version, you could try this user tip that seemed to have worked for some:
+1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.

• free space on internal boot hard disk ? How much ?
• What kind of file format on video resp. audio ?
eg .mp4, .mp3, .avi, .wmv, .aiff etc ?

With reference to above mentioned subject, We have source structure in place and the same has been maintained in WBS element and Automatic settlement have been done and cost in P&L transferred to Balance sheet GL subsequently based on the source structure assignment in the settlement rule.

As per the trailing mail getting the error during settlement rule maintainence for final assets with Green indicators, but even after maintaining the final asset in settlement rule it is not getting settled from AUC a/c to Final Asset.

I am getting the following error when trying to access our reports .jsp files.

No solutions forthcomming on the web and we have tried everything we can think of. Is this perhaps a java version problem. Seems that 9.0.4 is running java version 1.4.2. We have a staging area with a 9i server. It runs fine (java version 1.3).
Also of note is that reports test implementation works fine. If we move our files to this location the reports come up. No graphs are displayed but the data is there and no error comes up.
As a note we have replaced the reports_tld.jar in the ear with the one from the test area and redeployed with no changes (error returns).
Any explination would be appreciated.

You need to check the Sampling procedure in QDV2 T-code
In assignments check for which sampling type and valuation mode you had selected.Becuase you might choosed a valuation type which does not support control chart type.But for MIC you might ticked the chart type in control indicator.
