How long should I expect startup to take after migration? My new laptop is still showing finalizing migration after 20 minutes.

From what you describe, the computer is going to sleep.

[Solved] Screen goes blank after ten minutes

When I let my Asus EEEPC (1005HAB) idle on battery (especially if I'm watching something with VLC), after ten minutes the screen turns off. I can move the mouse or press a key to bring it back, but that gets to be annoying when I'm engrossed in a movie. I'm assuming this has something to do with a screensaver or power management setting. Correct?
I'm running Mate 1.8.1. The power management is set to put the display to sleep after 1 hour. And running pacman -Q mate-screensaver returns package not found. I have looked through the dconf settings, but haven't been able to find the correct setting to change (if its even in there).

Zen Mirco Formated and fully charged STILL goes flat after being turned off all nigh

This is starting to annoy me now, I formated the unit and then allowed it to be fully charged, now in the morning when I awoke after leaving it off all night it was completely flat again. So this rules out corrupt files in the library.
And from all the other things I have done I have ruled everything else out, so come on creative!

It's strange that the Zen Micro does it but the Zen Touch doesn't. It could be because of the massi've battery life in the Zen Touch but I charged my Zen Touch up completely about 2 days ago and turned it on today and it's still showing 3 bars. I really hope they remedy this problem because it's a bit annoying taking it with me in the morning only to have the battery die later that day.

There is a trial still going on after I paid for the product

So I basically did a free trial for photoshop cc and now its over. I then paid 9.99 a month for photoshop and lightroom but I never got the license number all I got was a code with numbers and letters, I tried entering that code into the license code thing but it won't accept numbers! How can I find my license number. BTW I am on a mac and I paid online, hope that info helps at all!

I get "Problem loading page" when I first sign on, while trying to get to secondary pages on all web sites. Problem almost completely goes away after 15 minutes or so.

I can usually get to the main page of any site I choose on the first try. I get the error message when I try to go somewhere on that site. For example, I can open the Ebay home page, but I can't sign in. After multiple tries, I'll finally get signed in, but then I can't open any of the items. On AOL, I can open the home page, but I can't open my mail page. When I finally get the mail page opened, I can't open any mail.
This problem also happens if I just use Internet Explorer, but not as bad as when I use Firefox.
I did add an exception to my Windows firewall for Firefox, but it didn't help.
I run Avast and Malwarebytes. I tried turning each of them off, and there was no change.
I have a cable modem, and a wireless router.

Screen goes blank after a few mins, no matter what I do

I have a slight problem: I ran an update, which brought me a brand-new shiny kernel and a brand-new shiny xorg-server. It took me a few days until I bothered to reboot my computer and after that things got hairy.
After a few minutes, screen goes blank.
I set a screensaver of my Gnome desktop to 2 hours, no effect.
Power manager sliders have exactly to positions: 2 hours 1 minute and never, neither one has any effect on this.
I said 'xset dpms force on', no effect.
Even when I try to watch a movie with mplayer, screen still goes blank after a few minutes (usually mplayer inhibits this kind of stuff).
Now, I find it really hard to believe that this could be any hardware issue, after all, if video card or display would be faulty, I would probably either get a picture on the screen or don't get a picture on the screen, not some unwanted screen suspend every few minutes.
So I have to assume it's a software thing. Kernel doesn't seem very likely to be the guilty one, so I guess it is that steaming pile of crap we know as xorg-server, which got upgrade from 1.6.1 to 1.6.1.901 (sounds like wannabe-1.6.2), to be take the blame here.
There is no 1.6.1 package in the cache or in any repos I checked, so hard to downgrade. Of course I could hack some pkgbuild from AUR and install that, but somebody told me that I would probably also have to compile drivers against that so if that's correct (is it?), then I would consider that as a last option.
Any ideas?

Display turns "dark" after 1 minute

Hi, first of all forgive my english
I have a an unpleasent problem with my display, it turns dark after 1 minute of no using it.
I have a Satellite, Windows 8, and Toshiba Eco utility. I have tried to change the time when the display turns dark or when the computer shut down in a lot of opportunities in the "Power options" item, i even tried to make my own plan of energy, but nothing works :/ My display still turns dark after 1 minute.
I really need to make it last longer on! D: it's driving crazy

It sounds like you’ve Reset All Settings on your iPhone 4s and now you’re running into an issue where the device only displays an Apple logo on startup. The article linked below provides troubleshooting suggestions that should be able to help you resolve the issue.

That you are getting the BONG is a good sign, it's unlikely to be hardware if you are able to hear that.
Start by running SW update. It's not that there is a specific fix, but when updating it may rewrite some system files which may get this going again purely as a side affect. Worth a go, and should not harm the system.
Try reset the PRAM - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Hopefully one of these quick fixes works, otherwise we'll need to try isolate the issue next - so if still having a problem, I'd try create a new user and login as that user to see if the issue persists (which will tell us if it's system wide or user specific)

TBF: You may have been lucky enough not to cripple your MBP immediately with your spill, but a spill such as you describe will have left obvious traces if you ever need to take your machine in for a repair of any kind. And as soon as evidence of the spill is found, any chance of the necessary repairs being performed under warranty will be gone.
Taking the machine in now to be cleaned and have the greasy parts replaced will be expensive, but doing so may save whatever remains of your warranty. For a price, Apple will restore the machine to like-new condition, and at the very least, you will then have a 90-day repair warranty on it. If you have significantly more time than that remaining on your original one-year warranty, and especially if you've bought the extended AppleCare Protection Plan, it would probably be worth taking the machine in to a Genius Bar for a look-over. Ask whether, if you have Apple clean and repair the machine now, your new-computer warranty and AppleCare plan will be reinstated afterward or whether all you'll have is the short repair warranty from now on. If the spill will negate your warranty and AppleCare even if you have Apple clean it, then the cleaning probably isn't worth paying for. But if paying for the cleaning will get your warranty and AppleCare reinstated, it may be worth doing.
