Finally gave up and returned the iPad because WiFi "just doesn't work."

My iPad wouldn't connect to public hotspots and performed poorly even in my house where my iPhone, MacBook Pro and iMac all work just fine. After hours of monkeying with settings and renaming my network and trying other suggestions generously offered here, I just gave up and returned it.
The "specialist" at the Apple store informed me of the 10% restocking fee. I countered that I wasn't returning it because I had changed my mind, but because it doesn't work properly.
I was told that he'd have to get approval from the manager of the "Geniuses." They refunded the total amount, but if I hadn't insisted, I'd have been out fifty bucks.
Apple has long touted the "it just works" appeal of its products, but this time they've clearly dropped the ball.
I'd been considering getting for my aging parents because it seemed like a simple way to get online without overwhelming them too many choices. I've since changed my mind.

When I realized that this was a widespread problem I decided to cut my losses. This might have easily turned into a expanding waste of time.
I'll consider buying a new iPad when the kinks have been worked out. Maybe the 3G option isn't such a bad idea, I now think it could be useful in pinch.
I'm glad to have been able to consult this discussion board.

    The original issue they didn't state exactly why it was Accidental Damage. After running through some troubleshooting, they just stated it was Accidental Damage and that I should file a claim with my insurance, and that Apple Care would have covered it; then closed the request.
    I've tried resetting settings, restoring it as new, and that was a no go. When it freezes up during calls I also have to perform a hard reset by pressing and holding both the power and the home buttons to get it functioning at all again(just completely freezes, won't respond to touch or home button.) I noticed that the proximity sensor isn't responding as well, so I have to tilt it away from my ear while in a call to keep from pressing the buttons on the touchscreen with the side of my face. I avoid phonecalls now, and text exclusively.
    I don't live anywhere near a Genius Bar so I'm stuck with the online support to Apple. And since I don't have a landline, I get charged for their phone support so I tend not to use it.
    Getting two lemons in a row seems coincidental so I'm wondering if it's a bad batch Verizon got then distributed out.

    The Bluetooth setup assistant should "find" a device in range when that device is turned on. What are you trying to add?

    I have an iPad 2, which won in 2013 and today the hardware operating system this product is fail, as the screen freezes, it turns on and off alone, applications open and close alone. In 2014 and now the screen is just flashing with lime-green color, which does not allow display the menu or settings and neither Homepage and often shutting alone and can not reconnect the unit, by simply not ascend the operating system so effective.
    I took the product back to the company OMNI Computer Apple Support Brazil in Curitiba -PR, and this gave the report that my warranty is quenched to receive a new product and that I receive a new iPad 2 I should pay the amount of R$ 990.00. However , the problem that clomplaint is not collateral or other , but that the Apple operating system does not work.
    I contacted Apple support over the phone and was told that at the time he took to OMNI iPad, I still had 38 days of warranty.
    Besides Apple and OMNI violate the Code of Consumer Protection , targeted to abuse my rights , ratify the information cited , I have had to date many annoyances, such as stress, mornings and weekends lost without resolutions .
    Have I contacted the phone to Apple support again and many records there own links, ordered procedures to remedy this situation , the items were scored for solution : take the iPad for Assistance and restore it .
    I performed the two steps, but nothing concrete had company OMNI and Apple, nor a constructive feedfack and that could solve everything without the need for other means of resolving facts .
    Publish themselves.

    Please just ask a question, we don't need a story about the history of the device.  Explain the symptoms and maybe someone can help.
    Based upon what I can understand from your post, try the standard troubleshooting...
    1. Remove apps from the Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
    - Press the home button when done.
    2. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    3. Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    4. Restore with your backup.
    5. Restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.  You may need to try DFU mode (Google for it).
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

    When i went onto my iPad this morning it was completely fine and working but once i took it to college with me the battery had ran out, so later on tonight i plugged my charger in and left it charging for about half an hour, when i went to go back up onto it was just a black screen and every so often when i pressed the power button it would flash blue for a split second then be blacked out again...
    So i had a look on this community to see if there was any solutions that could help and i found a case similar to mine so i tried to reset in hopes that it worked but it never did. I know that the iPad itself is working as i managed to unlock my iPad when putting in my passcode and i was able to get notification through as well, but after the reset i saw the apple logo appeared and it flashed a few times and i could see the setup on the screen to set it up as a new iPad.
    I don't know how or why the screen will not work properly, so any help would be great

    Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
    Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    After at least 30 minutes, if:
    The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
    The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
    Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
    If the display turns on, go to step 4.
    If the display remains black, go to next step.
    Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.

    I was having a Kernel Shock 2 weeks ago. After that, my Finder-Dashboard hasn´t work any more. I´ve did the latest update. Now Dashboard Works but Quick Time Player doesns´t do.
    I Can´t find NOWHERE in the internet an installation file for Quick time player to reinstall. And I can´t find my Installation DVD.
    quicktime has changed his symbol to an white picture with pensil and brush.
    I have made a second Account and activeted the guest accounts and tryed there, but Quick time player isn´t here working to.
    its really sad that this program doesn´t run any more.
    It blinks 2 times in the dock and shut down immediately.
    Can someone please help me? is my only opinion finding the Disc?

    I've tested that on an iPad 1 and it seems problem is performance related. On this device a simple click to a google search result link doesn't work properly. You hit the target multiple times and sporadically it opens. You still see the focus on the object and it's activation but no event triggering happens.
    All others functions are working well, only Webapps and Webpages suffer from this issue.
    The owner of the device has not recognized that issue and believed it is a "feature" not a bug as he do not has much experience with Apple devices. But this confirms it is on every device and not my own personal one or dedicated to our office. The only workaround is to use other devices or touching links with different speed/pressure. It works better if you hit the objects very quick lifting the finger immediately.

    Try to modify the pref <b>ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled</b> on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.

    You probably messed up the password/ server set up.  Delete the account from the pad, and re enter it.  Pay real close attention to the password entry. Upper lower case etc.   if they ask you for an optional name a second time, fill it in.  G mail works fine on mine.

I have read many forums about deleting, reinstalling, de-authorizing and authorizing my iMac through the iTunes store. Many suggestions don't work except to rename the movie to *.MP4 in Finder under the iTunes movie directory. I imagine this is a setting or a bug somewhere... any suggestions on how to bypass having to rename the files in Finder? My research into Google suggests this problem dates back to 2007 or so but it is now more prevalent than ever.

    I just purchased an Ipad Mini from a retail store close to me in Melbourne and although I mentioned I was a student this year, the store was closing and we processed the payment. Only when I got home did I realise that I am entitled to an iTunes voucher to the value of $50.
    I haven't yet received my Student ID from my university but I can proove my enrolment in other ways (acceptance letter from university and enrolment information)
    I am wondering what I need to now do to obtain this voucher.
    Do I have to return the iPad for a refund and re-purchase it again or is there a simpler way to arrange this?

    Sometimes the GC's are mailed out. You don't always get them right in the store IIRC.

    I was having the same issue with music and movies but it had been ok before. The sync would freeze on a random file and then i had to take out the USB cable to clear it. After trying all sorts of things i saw someone mentioning about Anti virus and firewalls. I am using McAfee so i disabled it as a test. After this i could sync music and movies without issue!!!!! So in my case the firewall/anti virus was causing a problem. McAfee updates itself a lot so I am guessing something has happened in a recent update that impacted iTunes.I am not sure if this kind of thing is also causing your problem but it sounds very familiar.

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
