Finally given up on iCloud email

I cannot get iCloud to deliver all my mail: the automatic filtering regularly blocks legitimate messages from reputable addresses. In fact, often iCloud classifies email from people on my address book as "junk".
After more than a year of a good fight, I give up! I followed the instructions for reporting legitimate email. For several months, I sent logs & more logs of email messages that I received on Hotmail & Gmail, that, when forwarded to @icloud account, they never made it.
Apple admits that "on rare occasions a legitimate email from a friendly source may be blocked from reaching your Inbox."
That is exactly what the "Junk" folder is for. Please place messages that are in doubt there. Apple instead blocks messages completely and I never get the chance to decide or give feedback that they are legitimate.
Until then, I must revert to my account elsewhere. Adiós @icloud.

I am amazed that there are so many problems at all in this day and age.
I'm not! I sort of would like that we all went back to the days of DOS (or CPM for that sake) when ALL programs had to be self-contained, with specific drivers to all the gear you had (eg. printer and so on). One problem now a days is "easy for whoever" and therefor the global drivers. Global means that one manufactorer of a program will install its priorities for whatever needed, while another manufacturer will try to install its "beneficial" properties.
Global then will sometimes mean conflicts, and that's why we, the users, unless we go a very specific way installing apps, will encouter problems.
Theoretically no problems yes, but all the SW companies are not working together.

  • HT201342 How do I delete the iCloud email I was given and create a new one

I had to change my email address. Now I am having trouble with my apple account and my iCloud account . Sometimes I cannot log in even though I have changed my account info as per instructed . How can I get help to fix all my account issues? Also how can I delete my old iCloud email they issued and get a new email address? It won't let me delete the old email.

If by "email address" you mean Apple ID, you have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated credentials.  This will delete the account any your synced data from your iPod, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts, your data will be synced back to your iPod when you sign back in.
If you are changing to a new account, be sure to choose Keep on My iPod when you delete the account.  Then choose Merge when you turn on your iCloud data syncing with the new account.

  • Can Multiple email accounts on Galaxy S4 sync with iCloud & non-iCloud email?

Hello… has anyone successfully set up multiple email accounts (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T/etc.) on their Samsung Galaxy S4 Jelly Bean 4.2? I searched the forums and it has been said that configuration settings depend on the combination of wireless service provider + device model + email providers + Android version.
My S4 is from AT&T and if this scenario can't work, I have to cancel my contract in a few days (although that would be the last resort). From checking the forums, not everyone has been able to get the S4 to work with iCloud. In my case, I hope to sync up with iCloud and non-iCloud email which might be trickier.
Here is one thread that helps with settings, but doesn't seem to address multiple or non-iCloud accounts: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22435596#22435596
    Some background info…
Although Gmail just works on Android devices, I plan to primarily use Apple/Yahoo/AT&T email (at least initially).
I don’t yet have Apple mail/iCloud, but plan to. I am partially switched to the Mac (Mtn Lion), but haven’t completed the jump from Windows.
I don’t have an iPhone (so hopefully that makes the setup less complicated.)
I mostly care about email on the S4 (I’m not concerned about syncing up contacts, calendar, music, etc.).
Apologies for the long post, but hopefully I’ve included the necessary background info for the questions below:
Is it possible to setup multiple (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T) emails on the Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T so that they sync nicely?
From the S4, if I reply to an email, will the Sender in the email reply be the same account which received the email? Or, (as I’ve read in the excerpt below) will the Sender for all email replies from the S4 be set from a fixed/primary account?
Although the first two questions above are the most urgent for now, I'd appreciate pointers if you see something that should be changed in the configuration settings below.
    Thanks in advance!

After spending quite some time trying to get my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II setup with iCloud mail, this is what finally worked. Thanks to everyone for the various bits that helped lead me in the right direction. For those who need lots of detail, I hope the below helps. Please don't ask me about any other specific Android phones as I'm not expert but thought someone out there could benefit from my experience.
    INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS
User Name: username (do not enter @me,com or @mac.com)
    Password: (enter your password)
    IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com
    Security type: SSL
    Port: 993
IMAP path prefix: p##- (you can find this by checking your account settings on your Mac. Mine was p03- so that's what I entered here)
    Press NEXT
    OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS
    SMTP server: smtp.mail.me.com
    Security type: TLS
    Port: 587
check the box next to "Require sign-in" if it's not already checked
User name: username  (do not enter @me.com or @mac.com)
    Password (enter your password)
    Press NEXT
Your phone will check the server settings and you should be able to see your email now.
And another poster provided these additional tips…
Definitely select SSL/TLS and accept all certificates
Now here's the zinger: Authentication should be LOGIN
After figuring this out, I finally (after many hours of searching and testing) got to my outgoing server settings, which are: smtp.me.com
    NONE for security type
    Tic "Require Sign-in"
    Authentication is PLAIN
And another poster's question about the Sender's email address for multiple accounts…
Managed to get this all set up however, Android only seems to allow you to send from your primary address and only reply from your primary address even if a mail was sent to one of the other addresses.
Any ideas how to get around this as I have three addresses beneath my primary which I need to both send from and reply from.

You're unlikely to find many people with experience of configuring multiple email accounts on a specific Samsung device, here on the Apple forum for an Apple service. Try the Samsung forums for help setting up your Samsung phone.
There are a few posts with general info relating to setting up an iCloud email account on Android here if you search though.

  • ICloud email and Apple ID question

I have an odd problem, heres the background:
I signed up with an iChat account a year ago when I got my new Mac Pro and chose a new sign in with an @mac extension. Then I changed my apple ID to MYNAME@MACdotCOM to reflect my iChat and to streamline all of my Apple ID's, etc. This ID however was never tied into an email account.
Now that iOS 5 and icloud is finally out, I enabled email sync in iCloud and was prompted to creat a new @me username. So I did and used the same name that is on my Apple ID, the only difference is this new address has @me insted of @mac.
iCloud set up on my mac like a breeze and Mail sees the new address and syncs up great.
Now I go to my iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5 and enable all the cloud stuff under my Apple ID and everything syncs great. I go into mail on my iPhone and compose a new message and heres the problem: The "from" address in the new message is showing my Apple ID MYNAME@mac not the one created for iCloud (MYNAME@ME) AND when I try to send the message I get this "The sender address MYNAME@MAC was rejected by the server" . But when using Mail on my Mac, it sends and receives great and doesn't try to use the @mac address, only the @me... same when logged into iCloud.
Now I know that my @mac was never a functional email address, but in iPhone mail it doesn't give me the option to use the @me address, only the @mac one. I assume that Apple is combining the two extensions since I can log onto the Apple site with the ID "MYNAME@ME" in stead of @mac and it logs me in just fine.
My question is how can I get Apple to activate or allow the @mac for email or get iphone mail mail to stop trying to use the @mac? I assume someone at Apple would be able to make that happen via email or phone. Hmmm.
I tried myself to change my Apple ID to @ME but the "edit" option is not available, Apple won't let me change it. I tried both through iTunes and the Apple website.
thanks for reading and any help on the matter is greatly appreciated!

An email alias will act just like you iCloud email address, and it will receive incoming mail at the same inbox. It will be added to your existing iCloud account/ID so you can continue to sign into your account with your current ID.
Your iCloud ID is separate from your iTunes account ID.  You can keep your current iTunes ID and add a second ID for your new iCloud account; they do not need to be the same.  If you want to migrate your data to a new iCloud account, on your device go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (this only deletes the account from the device, not from iCloud).  When prompted choos Keep on My [iDevice].  Then set up a new account with a different ID and turn your iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choos Merge to upload the data to your new account.

  • I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore.

I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore so I can't have the password sent there.  To sum it up, iCloud has an old email for the account log-in.  I don't remember the password for the old email.  I have Find My iPad activated so the iCloud account cannot be deleted.  And I am already logged out of iTunes & App Store.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Can I replace my old Apple ID with my new iCloud email address?

For years, my Apple ID has been associated with an external email address. Now that iCould users are given an "@me.com" email address for free, I would like to use that as my new Apple ID.
When I try to edit my primary email address using these instructions, this is the message I get:
You cannot create an Apple ID using a MobileMe account. If this is your email address, it is also your Apple ID.
I can't really figure out what this means. Is my Apple ID is permanently bound to the external email address? Seems pretty silly that I wouldn't be able to associate my Apple ID with my iCloud email...

Think of your Apple ID that is bound to an external email address as an Anonymous Apple ID account.  The email address can be changed to any other email address that is not an Apple ID, iCloud, MobileMe, Mac, etc. account.  iCloud, MobileMe, Mac, etc. accounts are just Apple ID accounts in disguise.  So the bottom line is no, but you can use both independantly.

  • My old Apple ID does not work, so I have a new one, but the problem is, my iCloud is backed up on my old Apple ID, and I tried to delete the account, but then it said that everything would be deleted on my iPad. How do you add another iCloud email?

My old Apple ID doesn't work, so I created a new one. However, my iPad(3) is backed-up on my old apple ID. I tried deleting it(for iCloud) but it said it would erase everything. Help?

If you want to use a new ID, you'll have to create a new iCloud account using the new ID, then migrate your existing icloud data to the new account.  Start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).  Next, if you are syncing notes with iCloud, open them one at a time and email them to yourself so you can recreate them in the new account.  Finally, if you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, turn off iCloud syncing in your iWork app settings.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Keep on My iPad when prompted.  Then sign in with your new ID to create the new account, turn your iCloud data syncing back on and choose Merge to upload the data to the new account.
When you turn Mail to On you will create a new @icloud.com email account.  You can go to icloud.com sign into your old account and set up email forwarding from your old iCloud email address to your new one if you wish

  • HT204088 I have received an email with a receipt to my iCloud email for a purchase from a apple store in Perth Australia...it does not appear in my purchased list but why did I get the email

I have received a receipt to my email address from an apple store in Perth Australia. No purchase history on my iTunes account but clearly someone else appears to have given my iCloud email...has this happened to anyone before? Should I be worried that someone has access to my account and emails. I sent a query to Apple and received a generic non answer......typical.

The purchase history on your iTunes account will only show purchases from the iTunes stores (iTunes, app store, ibookstore, Mac app store), not from Apple online or bricks-and-mortar stores.
Does anything show on your credit card ? If the email is genuine then it's possible that your and their email addresses are similar and that they gave the wrong id (or the store typed it incorrectly), it doesn't necessarily mean that anybody has access to your account.
For the contact, you will initially just receive an acknowledgement email, the proper reply may take 24 (possibly 48) hours.

  • How to find out who's texting you from an iCloud email address?

how to find out who's texting you from an icloud email address?

OK after a bit of research I found a way to achieve this.
I simply looked up the email address in ADUC, then did a search in SP with the display name. I could locate the list and manually confirm it was configured with the incoming email address I was looking for.
I also found the below script on Stackoverflow, but got "The 'using' keyword is not supported in this version of the language." when I tried to run it. Any idea how to fix that? I'd like to have a script to link a library to an email address istead of the
    manual approach described above.

  • TS4002 How do I delete my iCloud email account?

How do I delete my iCloud email account?  I do not want it.  Apple now is forcing its use where before it was using my Windows Mail.  for example, I have iCloud installed on my Windows 8 PC.  I am sharing Contacts with my iPads and iPhones.  I use to be able to to open Contacts on my PC and click on an email address and the Windows Live Mail program using my primary email account would open to compose and send a message to the Contact's address.  Now when I click on an email address iCloud Mail opens.  So, I want to delete the iCloud mail account since I will not be using it and hopefully Contacts will again default to my real mail.

Finally, you have answered my question!
I told you that you cannot delete an iCloud email account in my second reply, immediately after you clarified that you were referring to iCloud.com, not the Windows Live Mail application you actually mentioned in your first post. I also provided a link to instructions showing you how to restore the connection between Windows Contacts and Windows Live Mail.
I cannot help but note that it is absolutely absurd to not allow the deletion of an email account in an ISP or Cloud environment.
Tell Apple at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html then. Nobody here can do anything about that.
You don't listen we'll, or read carefully for understanding before jumping to conclusions.
You are unable to describe a problem accurately or coherently, or read and comprehend the simple answers you receive.
I seriously wonder if you knew an iCloud email account could not be deleted.
I seriously wonder if you can read - since I told you exactly that in my second reply.
Rest assured that these exchanges will be brought to Apple Support management attention.

  • Has anyone else received a phishing, "Urgent Alert From Apple Support"? It came to my actual iCloud email address.

The message is very clearly bogus, full of errors of every kind, right from the start: "Dear Apple Custumer,"
The fact that it came to my own iCloud address worries me since usually such schemes are to a broad group, like "[email protected]"
I have forwarded the email, with Long Headers, to the fraud-combating websites. Can't find any hint on apple.com/support as to where at Apple itself to direct it.

Re: Has anyone else received a phishing, "Urgent Alert From Apple Support"? It came to my actual iCloud email address.
YES today in the UK, the email text is as below, together with several Links to "Apple" sites and an Apple logo and European support address.
Fairly crude but could fool naive users.
Any one know how to get to the addresses behind the links without clicking them?  Just copying and pasting as plain text doesn't seem to work. Any other way just copies the Hyperlink.

  • Correcting my iCloud email address

I have just been looking at my "Accounts" in Mail Preferences.
Noticed that my iCloud email address in the field marked "Description" was misspelled and corrected that.
However, in the field marked "Email address" I have not been able to figure out how to correct the spelling.
Would someone kindly help me with instructions as to how to do that - I would like to have people reach me through my iCloud account.
Also, the misspelled email address is showing up in the field marked "Alias".
Please also help me remove that.  (I do not need to use an alias-especially one which is not spelled correctly.)
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
    Regards.
    A

    Hi,
You have not said that this account is not receiving new emails.
This suggests that the account ID is spelt correctly if it is accessing the correct mail server.
My own Apple ID is based on a Dial-Up account email I have.
I registered this for iCloud and can access the iTunes Store, App Store and the on line iCloud page with this name.
On Registering the Apple ID with iCloud I was given a @me.com ending ID which I use for iCloud Mail (the other is set to fetch mail from the Dial Up server)
If the account is not receiving Mail then delete the account in the Mail app.
Also make sure it is removed from System Preferences > Internet Accounts.
You can then Add the account in either place using the correct spelling.
    This bit:-
Also, the misspelled email address is showing up in the field marked "Alias".
Please also help me remove that.  (I do not need to use an alias-especially one which is not spelled correctly.)
I have no idea where you are seeing this.
