Finally got AVRCP working!!!

Great job guys and just in time!
Back in July I posted this somewhere (I thought it was here, but it might have been another Discussion)...
Hey guys. I really hope you hear us soon. I don't know why Bluetooth AVRCP is only partially implemented even in iPhone 4.0, but it goes beyond a mere convenience issue. For many of your customers it is a legal issue and for all of us who enjoy the freedom of using stereo bluetooth for handsfree in our vehicles, it is a HUGE safety issue. Perhaps all it will take are a few traffic related deaths for you to make such a miniscule change. The technology has been there for 5 years or more. Don't you think it's about time? I'll make you a deal... If it isn't implemented by the time 5.0 is released, I'll be moving to an Android based device and getting away from my ridiculously inflated AT&T iPhone plan.
There's my two cents,
Todd Rasmussen
iPhone fan (losing the faith)
Now it works great and I can skip forwards and backwards with my headset and I don't have to worry about crashing my car while fumbling with my iPhone anymore. And they even got it done before the release of 5.0.

I guess this came out in September. I got laid off in September, so it probably wasn't at the top of my priorities. But thanks again. I REALLY needed you guys to get this implemented, and you did!

  • Finally got it working Thanks!!!

    Greatings,
I finally got my Nano working again! Maybe this will help someone else. My iPod basically was not reconized by my computer so I followed the info posted elsewhere to reformat and then restore which did not fix my problem. I then reinstalled all the software which allowed my computer to recognize my iPod but iTunes still couldn't see it. iTunes would only recognize the iPod in disk mode but I could not get it out of disk mode; it would only flash the apple symbol. So after trying everything again I left the iPod connected to the computer and flashing do not disconnect and went to work. When I came home the laptop had shut itself down so I turned it back on not remembering the iPod was plugged in and still flashing. When the laptop came on it automatically went into an XP diagnostic screen saying that the volume on drive E was dirty and that it was repairing the drive. Once that finished I fired up iTunes and the name your iPod screen came up and then it started downloading my library and is working just like new now. Hopefully this will help someone else because it is very frustrating when you get really close to fixing it and can't make it work. Thanks to all folks that post!

excellent news Libba. (that was an absolute nightmare with the reinstalls that you were going through before.)
this is actually the second time now i've seen something like that ... where XP finally noticed that there was something wrong with the drive on the ipod, and then the disk repair allowed a restore to go through properly. (so we were in exotica territory with this one too ... granted, Mitch and other folk spend more time doing disk-damage remedial work than i do.)
Mitch here is checking on the following possibility with the drive letter:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
for additional info on how Windows drive letter assignments work, follow the link in the document through to the Microsoft KB doc on drive letter assignment issues.

  • OK Finally got it working BUT!

well my replacment xskey arrived (hooray!) so now im working with logic finally, i have a few questions tho...
    1. how do i set logic to open a new project with the standard 8 audio tracks and 8 audio inst tracks? atm mines only coming up with 4 audio, and it has 8 audio inst but it go's down 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4.
    2. how do u get the keyboard to work like as a midi keyboard (ive heard theres a way)
and 3. how do u assign audio channels small pictures of the instrement at the left hand side?
    cheers!
    james

Check out the manual for "Autoload" -- that's the name of the song file that's automatically loaded each time you start Logic or create a new file. You may want to look at some of the Peachpit books for walking you through creating this file to match your studio and workflow.
Use Caps Lock to bring up a little keyboard on the screen that you can play with your computer keyboard.
To change a track's icon, make sure you can see the track's info in the Arrange window. First select the track you want to work with. Pressing P toggles the properties column on the left. You may have to open up one of the areas using the little drop-down triangle thing, but you'll see an icon for the track in the properties area. Click and hold it to bring up a list of icons. You can create your own icons in the png format. Read the manual if you want to add your own images to Logic's standard icons.

  • Finally got NetInstall working! Now a question...

After, many attempts NetBoot is finally working. Now I would like to use NetInstall to upgrade several Tiger clients to Leopard.
I created a NetInstall image from my Leopard Install DVD and was able to boot a client off the image and then run through the Leopard install just fine. What I'd like to know is can I automate the install so that I can run it hands-free and also have it install all software updates as the Leopard Install is pretty old.
    Thanks

Another (My and many people's prefered way) of doing this all, including automation, is to use Mike Bombich's excellent NetRestore application.
It includes a helper for pulling images from machines for restore (rather than running an installer over the network) and facilitates creation of special netboot images that fire up the NetRestore application on boot. This application can be set to full automation, but also can have a list of images to restore, or allow for restore from other sources such as multicasts and file shares on other Mac or Windows servers etc.

  • Mac Mini LCD Display - finally got it working but....

    Hello,
I've posted on here many times about using the mac mini with my LCD display. The display runs at 60hz and a 640 x 480 resolution. For about four weeks, the mac mini would not connect to my screen. I installed display config x and had something of a result. By loading the mac mini up with my old pc monitor plugged in and then switching the vga plug once the mini was loaded, I managed to get a picture!
Just when I thought my troubles were over, I realised that when the mini went to sleep, if I woke it up I had exactly the same problem. I would have to plus it into my pc monitor, wake it up then switch it with my LCD VGA cable.
Is there anyway round having to do this every time I want to use my mini?
    Thanks
    Mark

  • Finally got Totem working with compiz

This may help somebody. To get totem-xine working with compiz edit ~/.gconf2/totem_config and add the following line
    video.driver:xshm

I found only need to use video.driver:xshm if using accelmethod xaa. if using exa as explained in http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_Graphics you do not need to alter the config file.

  • Finally Got VLAN's to Working

I bought a new Samsung TV that I wired into my LAN. Unfortunately, when I hit the source button it would list all my Sonos equipment as possible input sources.
I tried setting up VLAN's without any luck.
For those wanting to set up VLAN's that can access the internet but not each other, I found this article very helpful:  http://www.yamahaproaudio.com/global/en/training_support/selftraining/dante_guide/chapter2/03_vlan/
I had previously tried to set up VLAN's but just now realized what the problem was.  In my basement I have an LGS318P switch that was connected via 2 CAT6 cables in a LAG setting (ports 17/18 of the switch and ports 1/2 of the LRT214 router).  This is what prevented me from setting up the VLAN.
I set up the VLAN on my LGS318P with port 18 connecting to the LRT214 port 1.  I set the port mode to trunk (its default) with VLAN1 being untagged and VLAN2 being tagged.  I did the same thing for my LGS308P in my living room -- VLAN1 untagged and VLAN2 tagged on port 1 (trunk).  I set ports 2-8 to access mode with 2-6 and 8 being set as untagged VLAN1 and forbidden VLAN2.  I then set up port 7 (where the Samsung TV is connected) as forbidden VLAN1 and untagged VLAN2.
I turned on RIP'ing for IP4 and IPv6 on the LRT214 and didn't turn on interVLAN routing.
Everything seems to be working now without any problems whatsoever.  I seem to have isolated my TV from the rest of my network.  Yay!

Using the same principal, I was able to create a third VLAN and set up a guest network with all regular WiFi traffic as untagged and the guest network as tagged (3). Set the switch ports to the router and WAP as trunks, VLAN1 as untagged and VLAN3 as tagged. Set all other ports as forbidden for VLAN3 so they couldn't cross talk.
Initially I couldn't get it to woke, but then I realized I had the router set to give my MacBook an assigned IP in the 10.0.1.x subnet when VLAN3 was set up for 10.0.3.x subnet.
Glad I finally got this working. Took forever!!!

  • HT203167 I finally got the update of IPHOTO 11 to download, now when I try to open my IPhoto it says it needs to be prepared to work, so I install that and it says it is downloaded, but when I try to open my Iphoto it just keeps repeating that it needs to

The above question is too big to read, so this is what it says>>>>I finally got the new IPhoto 11 to download after problems with the installation; now when I open it, a message pops up that says to continue I need to prepare the old version for the new....so I downloaded the preparation download and it says it is installed, but when I go back to open IPhoto again after this installation, the same message keeps popping up! I cannot find any of my pictures either. What is going wrong and how can I continue with IPhoto and update and get my pictures again? This all has happened because I made a big book of my travels and when I went to purchase it it said I could no longer buy books using the old IPhoto 7.........so I updated everthing and bought the new version and did everything it said, but still not working:::HELP!

You have to download and run the upgrader then launch iPhoto. Go to the utilities folder in Applications and launch the iPhoto upgrader. Then launch iPhoto and it will upgrade the library

How do I get this feature working again? I am reluctant to move to iTunes 10.7 because I don't trust Apple at the moment.

    My suggestion:
    1) Always using MAC AIR with the power plug in.
2)Don' let the power level of battory fall under 30% percentage.
3)If the MAC can't be recharged now, just let it be with power plugged, WAIT...

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I hooked up mine and finally got it to work but every once in a while my web browser get stuck.  how di fix this?

i hooked up mine airport and finally got it to work but every once in a while my web browser gets stuck.  how di fi?

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,
    sarucia

  • I think I finally got it to work!

I FINALLY got something new on my screen...now it says: "waiting for iPhone" and there's a little circle on the bottom of the iPhone screen that's rotating as if it's "thinking."
Whew, I hope it works now, it only took me 6 hours and hundreds of tries, LOL!
Boy, I sure am glad I shelled out $400 for this awesome phone! (sarcasm...heavy sarcasm)

Did you do anything different to get it to this point? I'm having the same problem...tried the 'solutions' noted in other postings about updating drivers as best I could, but I'm not on Vista...

  • Finally got Time Machine to work!

It was a pain - numerous hangs, 3 kernel panics and 6 failed backups, but I finally got it to work ..... I hope!
    What I did was to
    1) Erase and rename the target drive (Tardis seemed an appropriate name ;-))
    2) Prevent Spotlight from indexing the target drive (System Preferences> Spotlight> Privacy)
    3) Set the Screensaver to "Never"
    4) Delete the TimeMachine plist file
    5) Repair Permissions everywhere
    6) Close all open applications
    7) Set up target drive in Time Machine and initiate BackUp
    8) Walk away from computer - don't even touch the mouse - and come back several hours later when Time Machine has finished backing up.
This worked for me but, as in most things, your mileage may vary.
Message was edited by: Pornits - Forgot to include the important "Delete the TimeMachine plist file" step

From what I've read here, the kernel panics may be associated with Spotlight trying to access data that is still being written by TM. Another interesting point is that, my kernel panics also seemed to occur at about an hour into the back-up process .... which, coincidentally, is the same time period that TM uses to make it's incremental back-ups - a scripting error perhaps? Don't you just love being a beta tester?
In any case, this method worked for me - TM now appears to be functioning as advertised. If it's not working for you, my only suggestion is to disable TM and wait for Apple to post a fix. In the mean time, a back-up solution like SuperDuper may be of some help.
