Finally got my Globe Trotter Connect Rocket Stick to work Snow Leopard

On Sept 29th at 10:00 pm I wrote this email to Rogers.
Please pass on this very important information. The Rogers download for icon 322 from your site for Globe Trotter Connect does not work with Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is 10.6 version . Recommend download for Snow Leopard by Rogers is 10.4, icon 322. Which is for Leopard and Tiger so this is the wrong download for Snow Leopard. Believe me when i tell you that i have devoted 10 hours to figuring out what the problem is. I have worked with Technical Support at Rogers, Apple Care Specialist and Options Tech Department. Here is how I finally fixed the problem. Please share this information with your Tech Support Department. Customers calling in with the same problem. They should go to the ATT website. ATT has the version 10.6 which is the right download for Snow Leopard and it listed in red on the left hand side of their site. Once customer has removed the wrong application for Globe Trotter then downloaded the 10.6 version for Snow Leopard (off the ATT website) then instruct your customers to go to Globe Trotter Preferences. Under roaming then enter the following: Under 3G/EDGE/GPRS change to read APN: internet.com. username: wapuser1 Password:wap. IMPORTANT do not press reset, or it will not work. Just ask customer to close that window. Now the Globetrotter will initialize and ask to connect. After a few seconds internet will now work on Rogers Network. Hope you use this information and hopefully Rogers will install the link that ATT has onto their site and save everyone a lot of valuable time.
Regards,
Colleen Williamson

Here is the right link. look on the left hand side in it will read New (in red) GT connect for 10.4 10.5 10.6- (10.6- is the right version for Snow Leopard)
http://support.option.com/att/i
Then simply go to Globe Trotter/ Preferences. then change the settings to Rogers. ie type in under APN: Internet.com etc.
Gt2go. good luck.

After following the Apple knowledge base support notes on resetting the SMC I finally got to the reset SMC step and this worked. Powered the Mac Book Pro A1150 back up on the following morning and again grey screen and this time the SMC reset refuses to work!
The battery still as before indicates not charging and no lights on the battery pack confirm this along with the system profiler which suggests the battery should be replaced. The charger itself actually works ok.
Any further advice would be useful.

  • Problem connecting iChat client 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to iChat server (Lion)

    Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to the Lion server, but it's all working fine with my Lion client(s) so far
However, my wife's best friend's MacBook is still running Snow Leopard ( and she is not willing to upgrade her MacBook as of now due to severak reasons) and I'm trying to connect her iChat client from Snow Leopard to the iChat server running on my Lion server.
If I try to set up the account manually in the iChat client, I can't find an option for Mac OS X Lion server and trying a work around with the Jabber account settings didn't work either (on the server's log: credentials failed). Then, I tried to create a profile on the server and downloaded it to the Snow Leopard system, but it wasn't recognised (in System Settings, there is no Profile option ).
So, can someone please, please, please give me any idea about it or is it simply not possible to connect a an older iChat client (5.0.3, Snow Leopard) to the latest version of the iChat server (Lion) ??
Again, any idea is very appreciated!
    Many tx in advance.
    Cheers
    Kai

    Hi there,
A simple suggestion , please make sure both MacBook Pro clock and the server clock are the same meaning the hour/Min/ sec both should match. A least difference of 3 seconds is fine.
I had faced this problem in many place and only solution was to match the time and it will bind immediatly.

  • ZTE MF636 stick modem and Snow Leopard

    Hi All,
Does anybody knows if the ZTE MF636 stick modem will work on snow leopard (10.6.2)?
I still don't understand what has to be installed and how.
Is there a specific driver that has to be installed for SL? Is this how OS X recognize the stick as a modem?
Then there should be a "connection manager" or some sort of app to get connected to Movistar mobile Internet? Is this app mandatory or I can connect using network preferences for dialing?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
by the way my carrier is Movistar Argentina.
    best,

Hi Imol, I have managed to install the modem and software on my macbook Air (Snow Leopard)
*>>>WARNING: This is going to break your Snow Leopard installation<<<*
After you install the modem software (located on the USB stick itself), the system will be VERY unstable.
Next step is to run your Snow Leopard install disk and go through the motions (45 minutes or so depending on your setup)*Please seek guidance if you are unfamilar on how to use the Snow Leopard Disk to repair your system.
Now here is what happens: When you install the software for the modem the installer puts all of the drivers into the folders they would have been in Leopard. When you run your Snow Leopard disk it moves all the relevant files/drivers into the locations required by Snow Leopard. I know this is a very unorthodox method but it works.
The connection manager software then works as it should. You can run the modem without the connection manager software, but everytime you remove and install the device you have to re-enter the dial-up connection (*99# - tells the modem to connect to your service) & none of the fine tuning (picture quality settings improves loading times no end) or telling the modem not to display the disk mount for the installation software. One Final thing with the conection manager you can send SMS texts across the cellphone network as it will be preconfigured for your service provider.
My Final words that I can offer is, 4G is here and Modems have already started to surface in the USA. You could contact Movistar find out the estimated time of arrival for these units in Argentina. The 4G service might be limited if at all but the modem will be able to connnect at the best speed available in your region and the sofware will be written for Snow Leopard.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,
    C.

  • Can't recall password when connecting 2 Macs via Firewire (Snow Leopard)

In Leopard I used to be able to connect my iMac and my Macbook to each other with a Firewire cable and share/move large files between them. Since the upgrade to Snow Leopard when I connect the two machines up I'm prompted to enter a password which I can't recall setting. I've tried all my usual password variants to no avail
Is there anyway I can find the password that I set or can I change one of them?
EDIT: If I connect as a Guest I can see the shared folder on my machines (I have Filesharing turned on). An easy workaround would probably be to add the folders I need to play with to the Filesharing list but I'm more concerned about the password issue

To get started, try these possible fixes:
    1. Go System Preferences > Network > Location.
Edit location (whatever name you want).
Click + and then click done.
    Try your wifi/browser.
    2. Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration.
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop for safekeeping.
    Restart.
    Try your wifi/browser.
    3. Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration.
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop for safe keeping.
Go System Preferences > Network > Delete all locations, and use Automatic.
    Restart.
    Try your wifi/browser.

  • Juniper networks VPN: Network Connect will not install under Snow Leopard

Created different thread based on the topics from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2130935.
With new install of Snow Leopard i get the following when trying to log into SSL VPN "Could not launch. Please restart the web browser and try again"
can not do the workarounds from the above thread since none of the directories exist. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I ran into this too (made matters worse by cleaning out the old juniper install). What I understand clearly now, which other discussions with all the happiness from people saying they fixed it seem to miss completely: Juniper only works if you installed it prior to upgrading 10.6. If you did not, you are possibly hosed.
Now, I was hosed, but I found a workaround. Find a stand-alone installer .dmg out there. As of a couple days ago it was there. I'm sure it still is. Google it. NetworkConnect.dmg.
It is version 6.0.0. It installs correctly. My company runs 6.4.0, which means the first time you open NetworkConnect after installing it prompts you to upgrade. The upgrade worked fine, so long as I was running as root.
Which brings me to my original problem which I've not seen anyone else complain about, which has me worried: after installing, NC only actually connects and functions when I run as root. I'm not talking about su - root or using sudo, I mean having to graphically switch users and log into the computer as the root user (after enabling it...using the scenableroot I think, something like that).
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I can launch Network Connect as my real user but it immediately fails with a software error. 'ncproxyd.error: Failed to gain root privileges'. Driving me batty.

  • Airport connections lost after upgrade to Snow Leopard

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I am no longer able to connect to the Internet wirelessly.  I have had to resort to connect via wired connection.  I have tried to reconfigure the connection.  It finds my wireless network, but when I type in my password it says it is not correct.  I know it is an issue with Snow Leopard as it worked fine prior to the upgrade and my other devices connect with no problem.

Go into Displays Preferences and, if you haven't already done so previously, put a checkmark in the box for "Show displays in menu bar". Then, click on the resulting icon that shows up in the menu bar to drop the menu and select "Number of Recent Items" and set it to 10. Now drop the menu a second time and see if there are two 1920 x 1080 resolutions. If so, one of them may be the older one previously in use that was working.

  • Wireless network connectivity issues after upgrading to Snow Leopard

After upgrading to Snow Leopard (10.6.4) I find that my wireless network will not automatically connect to my router (Netgear DG834G) as it used to. First impressions are that the macbook is finding a number of wireless networks but wants to connect to the one that is alphabetically first in the list. It also seems that the signal that the airport is receiving is weak, even when the macbook is next to the router.
Has anyone experienced this when they upgraded?
Any and all help gratefully appreciated
    Nick

but a couple that I used with no problem before I upgraded now give me a "server not found" error after I enter my login and password.
Quit Safari. Open Keychain Access   /Applications/Utilities. Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the keychains for the sites you have problems logging into AND the Safari Forms Autofill keychain. Now from the menu bar click Keychain Access / Keychain First Aid. Select: Verify. If necessary, select: Repair. You will be prompted for your admin password. Click Start.
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to a site. Login with your user name and password. That will create a new keychain for you.
If you still have problems accessing sites, go to Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all cookies or just the one's for the problematic sites. Now try logging into a site again.
Even though you upgraded to v10.6.7 make sure Safari is up to date. From the menu bar click Safari / About Safari. If it's a version prior to 5.0.5, click your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update...
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Something there may be preventing you from accessing secure sites. If you have any extensions installed,  turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari to test.

  • No Ethernet/Internet Connection on Parallels 7 Running Snow Leopard Server - Fix?

I have recently installed Parallels 7 on my 2013 iMac, and have both Snow Leopard Server and Windows 7 running great on the Parallels platform.
However, after installing some anti-virus software, "ClamXav" and "MacScan", I need to have the internet connected to my Paralells 7 so I can receive viral updates to both these programs. I am unable to get any ethernet/internet connection on my Paralells 7 running Snow Leopard Server.
I have tried to update the Paralells 7 Snow Leopard Server "network Info" (in SL systems preferences" ... as the same ethernet connection info that I have running my "network connection" on my main OS Mountain Lion, but still no ethernet connection in Paralells 7.
This is a screen grab of the locations where I believe I am able to update my "ethernet" info for Paralells 7 Snow Leopard:
Obviously, I've blurred out the current info in these two windows, for security purposes, but exactly what should be applied to these windows to get my "ethernet" connection in Paralells 7 up and running?
I would think entering the exact same "network info" as appears in my Mountain Lion "Systems Preferences - Network" window, would get me internet connected on Paralells 7 Snow Leopard? Evidently not ... what is needed for me to get this right?
Anyone have experience getting "ethernet/internet" connected on Snow Leopard Server, using Paralells 7?

  • Can't connect remotely after updating to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I've been connecting remotely (using SFTP) to my office computer with Fetch fine, My co-worker just updated the system software from OS 10.5 to OS 10.6, and now I cannot connect to the computer...any suggestions of what I should do? The only thing that changed that I can see is that with 10.5 I had to connect using port 222, and now I'm told I need to use port 22. Still can't connect though.
    Thanks for any input!

So you've got a Mac running 10.5 at home, and you're trying to connect to a Mac running 10.6 at work, and you can no longer connect to that 10.6 computer but your coworker can connect to that same computer? What kind of computer is the coworker using from home? If a Mac, what OS is she running at home? How is she connecting? (Terminal.app command line? GUI front-end interface program like Fetch? Or Fetch itself?) If she is using a GUI program, I think that some of them display to the user a command-line style of text that it is using to connect to the distant end (I know that ssh tunnel used to). It would be helpful to know precisely what command is being sent from her and from you. If you could post those (masking, obviously, the username and hostname or host IP address as "user@host"), that would, I think, be an immense help.
I do a lot of ssh and sftp to my home network from work and other itinerant locations using Terminal.app program. I type "ssh user@host" or "sftp user@host". That's why I'm asking if your coworker's sftp program actually displays the command sent. Both of these commands (ssh and sftp) can be loaded up with various optional switches to facilitate different or additional behaviors. For example, actually, I use
    "ssh -p22222 -L10025:localhost:25 -L10143:localhost:143 –L10548:localhost:548
–L15900:localhost:5900 user@host" so that I can tunnel a bunch of other services (AFP file transfer, remote screen sharing, and receive and send email through my own personal five-account IMAP mail server) all encrypted inside the ssh connection. Or "sftp –oPort=22222 user@host" for encrypted file transfer from the command line. It would be helpful to know what her sftp program is actually sending to the work computer.
Any possibility of a username or password change on the work computer? You made mention about a port switch from 222 to 22...did you make that corresponding change on your sftp program at home as well? Who told you that you had to make that change and why? Lastly, while I can't give any good reason at all as to why it would make any difference, but I see that Fetch is now at version 5.5.3 as of 16 Nov 2010. Are you using the latest and greatest?

  • Connectivity issues since upgrading to Snow Leopard

Hello folks.  Sorry to dredge up bad memories, but I upgraded my old MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3.  AirportX firmware update ran at the same time, now my network shows as connected, but I can't connect to mail or Internet.  It was supposed to be an interim step so I could go to a more current o/s via online download, but obviously that's not an option right now.
The Airport is green, I show as having a connection to the network, but nothing works.  I've restarted both MacBook and Airport, reinstalled SL, still nothing.  There's no antivirus on board, and no sharing set up, which I gather were common issues back when the rest of you were encountering this issue back in 2009... Didn't occur to me it wouldn't have been patched long since.
    Any suggestions?

Same problem here - the MobileMe sync never completes. I've checked syncing from my iPhone back to the Me.com web site, and that is fine. So the problem seems to be between my newly-upgraded 10.6 Mac and the MobileMe "cloud."
Best I can tell, the hangup is with calendar sync. Here's what the Console log tells me:
8/29/09 9:20:30 AM com.apple.syncservices.SyncServer[2162] 2009-08-29 09:20:30.085 iCalExternalSync[2183:903] [ICalExternalSync ]The sync server failed to let client iCal pull changes
    And the mobilemesync.log says this:
2009-08-29 09:25:20:858|35a2b00|Error|Sync cancelled for dataclass com.apple.Calendars while merging changes in Sync Engine: Session <ISyncConcreteSession: 0x10274b8f0> cancelled. lost connection to SyncServer
Could it just be traffic? That seems unlikely.
I've already tried to "Reset Sync Data" under "Advanced" in the MobileMe Sync preferences - I told the sync to replace everything on my computer with info from MobileMe. That didn't fix the problem.
My last successful sync was right before my upgrade from 10.5.8!
    Ideas?
    -Barry

  • Formatting usb-sticks on iMac - Snow Leopard

I have two USB-sticks, which I used several times, all files have been deleted.
Nevertheless they show as being nearly full, so I cannot save anything else on them. Is there a possibility to format these sticks, so that the space is available again? Or do I just have to through them away?
An answer (if possible step-by-step) would be very much appreciated.
    An amateur from Vienna

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
when deleting files from an USB-Stcick you should not forget to empty the trash afterwards and before disconnecting the stick.
Otherwise the files you deleted are still eating up the space on the stick.
For formatting an USB-stick you can use Disk Utility (might be Festplatten-Dienstprogramm in Austria) to be found in the Applications/Utilities Folder.
In Disk Utility click on the USB-Stick in the left pane, then on the Format-Tab in the right pane.
Use the Disk Utility Help function if needed.

  • CF9 not connected to MAMP Apache in Snow Leopard

I am trying to set up a MAMP/CF9 multi-site development environment on my local MacBook Pro.
I found this article and followed it as my guide with one exception.
    http://www.ryanjeffords.com/blog/entry/setting-up-a-solid-local-development-environment-us ing-coldfusion-9-apache-and-mysql-on-mac-os-x
Where it talks about editing the hostd.conf file for the multiple local sites, I instead installed VirtualHostX app.
So I installed MAMP (Mac Apache MySQL PHP) on my MacBook Pro.  It started up and runs serving web pages.  I then installed VirtualHostX and defined a couple local sites I have for development. I then installed CF9 (32 bit).  I specified CF in /Applications and I specified the CFIDE to go into my (user)/Sites/www directory. My local sites are each in their own directory under (user)/Sites/.  It said it all ran fine but when I went to /localhost/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm it gives a 404 error. I try to go to one of the dev sites and it displays the page but as text, not CF rendered code.
I looked in the wsconf.log file and found this one error msg:
11/21 20:31:04 error Configuring 32 bit connector is not allowed.
jrunx.connectorinstaller.ConnectorInstallerException: Configuring 32 bit connector is not allowed.
    at jrunx.connectorinstaller.WebServerInfo.getResourcePath(WebServerInfo.java:809)

    at jrunx.connectorinstaller.ConnectorInstaller.doIt(ConnectorInstaller.java:272)
    at jrunx.connectorinstaller.ConnectorInstaller.main(ConnectorInstaller.java:762)
It suggests that the CF install step where it tries to set up the connector between Apache and CF9 failed.  I don't know where to go from here to resolve this issue.  I've looked and looked on the web and can't find anything yet.  I've spent hours and hours.
Any guidance to resolve this would be much appreciated.

I have since confirmed that the Apache in the MAMP I downloaded is 2.0.63 and it is NOT 64 bit but 32 bit architecture. I was able to get it working with my 64 bit install of CF9 but only after I manually extracted the 32 bit .so file from the .war that came with the CF9 installer. I also had to change some permissions on it before it would work. I also had to hack the httpd.conf file to include stuff that never made it in the file, regarding the jrun awareness of CF file types.
I'm up and running now. I tried so many things I'm not 100% sure what was the fix but changing the .so file, it's permissions and the httpd.conf were key. I haven't ready Andy's post but I suspect he has some key info too.  Besides Andy's blog post I would suggest others also use this blog post as well:
    http://www.ryanjeffords.com/blog/entry/setting-up-a-solid-local-development-environment-us ing-coldfusion-9-apache-and-mysql-on-mac-os-x

This post may be of help too. It is for CF8 but should be applicable for CF9. It may hold the key for getting the httpd.conf file rewritten automatically instead of the hack I had to do.
